The older workers here are miserable. Especially the bald dude. My god. The young workers are extremely helpful and happy to be there.

Used to be an ACE, now it's a True Value…read more * * * TIP * * * Their house key duplication is the same price as Depot, but True Value offers real brass keys instead of the lower quality steel keys at Depot. * * * TIP * * * $75 Chip car key replacements!!!! Just had a very helpful experience with them for a chip key replacement for our car. Dealer wanted to charge $240 + an hour of my time (pre-scheduled appointment too) for a replacement chip key. True Value can save you tons of cash !!!! After a lot of research I was referred to a True Value in Wilmington as someone who does chip keys. I decided to try a True Value nearer me. The Newtown Square location does not do keys; very frustrating. Luckily we're actually closer to this Paoli store, so I gave them a try. They looked up our make/model/year to be sure they could do it, and had a blank for our vehicle in stock. There is one main guy who does it at Paoli, so you should call to make sure he'll be there before you go in. Unlike Lowes and Depot (who I'd called earlier in my research), True Value actually knew what they were talking about and were familiar with our car. The man who does this totally knows what he's doing, and was totally competent about running us through the details of how it all works, and price ($75) and time (20 mins to program the vehicle). WAAYYYYY better than what my dealership was going to charge. It was like 70% off the price, and a third of the time! No brainer. Note: Lowes and Depot only do certain makes and models, and even then, only certain years within their already-narrow parameters. If you have a very popular car, you may be in luck there, but it is really hit or miss, even with some pretty well-loved vehicles, like ours. As mentioned above, not all True Values offer this. This Paoli location has a superior key service, and they deserve a lot of credit for the value they offer, plus the customer service. This is my 300th review, and I'm super-happy to make it a 5-star one! :-)

A week or so ago, my husband went there for something. There was no one at the register or evident in the front of the store. He walked to the back, found a staff person and asked a question. "What?" said the guy. My husband repeated his question. "Well, I could understand you if you'd take that mask off." Even with his vaccine, my husband is a vulnerable individual in relation to COVID. We both wear masks when out in public. Then, I went there yesterday looking for 12-gauge ground wire for a generator. I asked a guy inside the door where the wire might be. Turned out to be the same man who didn't help my husband. He responded in the rudest way possible that they didn't sell it and directed me to some far-flung electrical supply store. Nor did they have small motor oil or rebar. By the time I got that far, I wasn't even going to ask about extension cords. I went to Lowes, where the gentleman in the wire cutting aisle was more than helpful, and directed me to all the other places in the store where I could find the items I required. Such a shame. We could really use a good hardware store right in this area, but this isn't it anymore.

Stepping into this quaint, small town hardware store is like stepping back into the 50's where…read morestaff was courteous and knowledgeable and there was a main street in every town. Brad (and his son who I believe now works with him) run the BEST, if not only, local small town hardware store. The prices are very reasonable and the service and smiles you get from Brad are fantastic. His depth and breadth of knowledge is staggering AND if you're looking for a local professional for a project (electrician, plumber, etc), he knows everyone. I own a store near Latshaws and ANY time I need something (screws, bulbs, tape, glue, screwdriver, PVC Pipe, outlet cover, duplicate key, paint, etc), he always seems to come through for me. I can't believe how much stuff he has crammed into that store without it seeming "too crowded'. Big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes have their place, but I'd rather shop local and support the little guys trying to keep this tradition alive. I will always check with Brad to see if he has something before going elsewhere.

Kinda like a barber shop, the locals were just hanging out and shooting the breeze. I think I took a step back to 1963. Gun store inside had reasonable prices.
