    Trader Joe's

Didn't take many photos while in this Trader Joe's. A very typical layout for TJ's. Stopped in to stock up on some essentials I buy exclusively from Trader Joe's. Olive oil, brown rice and low fat Mac and cheese. This location had a very busy parking lot with tiny parking spots. I mean, lots of parking spots labeled "compact" which doesn't make much sense in WA with all the larger vehicles people drive. Fortunately I have a smaller beep beep car so small parking spots do t bother me. This store was super clean and had big aisles. Employees friendly! If I lived in the area I'd for sure visit this store regularly. If I ever am in the area again I will shop here. Happy shopping and SYOY.

Most amazing cheese ever (now in shredded version).

I'm not in Redmond as often as I used to be, but this Trader Joe's is still one of my favorites on the Eastside. First, they've got a lot of parking. It's one of the few TJ's (knock on wood) where I can usually find a spot without having to grab my hiking poles from the trunk. In my experience, only the Totem Lake TJ's has a better parking sitch than this one. On the inside, this Joe's is pretty much like all the others - although (and maybe this is my imagination) it seems like their produce section has more stuff in it than other TJ's I've visited. Like, they not only have the regular produce displays, at this location they often have stacked boxes of extra produce (like kiwis!) I don't recall ever seeing at other TJ's. Again, maybe I'm just not looking hard enough elsewhere. But since this produce overflow is conveniently located right inside the front door of the Redmond store it's hard not to notice. Finally, the employees here are apparently given extra strong doses of the TJ's Friendly Juice at the beginning of their shifts. No matter how long the lines are (and trust me, they get longgggg) I'm always greeted with a smile and friendly conversation. As far as covid precautions, I'm giving them an extra star for being super smart about keeping their checkout lines organized, limiting the number of folks allowed inside at any given time, and requiring customers to wear masks. Thanks TJ's for keeping everyone's safety in mind!

This time it was kind of empty. They had no good tomatoes avocados. Workers were kind of working at the clock and couldn't really help me too much. Also, I noticed that a lot of their stuff is frozen. I didn't really know that. I guess it's not a horrible secret it's just I didn't know even the bread like some basic olive bread or somethingis completely frozen put out to thaw, and then people eat it that's not advertise frozen food. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Trade Joe's has never been "my place" to shop, but it's conveniently located near my work. When you arrive in this shopping center, the parking lot is almost always chaos. There's always that one obnoxious person who puts their turn signal on and blocks everyone from coming in because they want that super close spot. Something that's a little off putting is their entrance/exit doors. I would prefer for the entrance to be facing the parking lot, versus the street. When it's raining like it often does here, you'll get a more wet going around to the entrance (unless you sneak in the exit door). Once you're in, it's charming. I love how Trader Joe's will customize each of its stores to emulate the community. For example, there are street names instead of numbers for checkout lanes, and there's artwork from the Redmond community on the walls. It's great, and it gives you that feel-good feeling (or that gross, this is too sappy feeling my boyfriend feels). Nonetheless, it's really cute. Their grab and go section (sandwiches, salads, etc.) is in the back right corner and isn't very big. In other locations, they've had this same section right by the entrance, which I would much rather prefer. You'll have to walk through the crowd of dawdling people, eyes locked on their grocery list while they aimlessly bump into one another. Well, it isn't THAT bad, but it did happen to me today! This store is popping. There's a lot of shoppers here, and there's a lot of checkout lanes. What I really liked is that when it was really busy, every lane had a cashier. I can't say I moved through the check out line quickly, but I could tell all of the cashiers were doing their best. There isn't a belt, so you have to place your basket or items on this small shelf, or keep your items in the cart for the cashier to scan. It's kind of nice not to worry about all those dividers and the anxious people waiting to unload behind you. The credit card machine was super slow, but maybe that was just when I was in today. The cashier was really friendly though, so it wasn't awkward or anything. Great experience, the prices are a little high (but they positon themselves as a healthy grocery store, so what did you expect?), and it's a really cute grocery store.

As TJs go, this one is really nice & well-stocked. Love the organic selection & the Taster counter... I've bought more, having tried a new item. Only drawback to this TJs... a few of their Crew at the registers could use some PR tune-ups. Happy Faces do so much more for TJs community image, than the Crankies, any day of the week!

Parking might be an issue, they share a parking lot with some other new businesses and a QFC so try to go at an odd time of day.

Now Kroger is trying to eat Safeway, and QFC jumping the gun by preemptively taking a nose dive. For years, people called this store "the new QFC" because it was newer and nicer and shinier (and, imo, better-smelling) than the one a couple blocks over. We didn't know how good we had it then! This particular location used to be clean, well-organized, well-stocked, and appropriately staffed. Variety and quality of foods (especially produce) seems to have taken a downturn. Now, pick 2 of those at any given time and you'll be lucky. Less pharmacy hours, never anyone at the customer service desk, a giant bay of tiny u scans with one harried employee trying to deal with everyone's coupons, misweighed items, and produce with no stickers. Locked cases popping up all over the store, but only one or two employees in the entire store who can open them. Worse yet, a lot of the stuff in the cases doesn't have pricetags, so you just have to guess - not great for what are ostensibly some of the most expensive items in the building. Don't bother asking that employee who unlocked the case for you; they probably already have a gaggle of other customers following them around like the pied Piper, waiting for them to unlock some other case on the opposite side of the store. To be exceptionally clear in case some corporate scrooge reads this: none of this is the employees' fault, they are doing the best they can, and this is all clearly the consequence of corporate cost-cutting measures. I'd give it 3.5 stars because it's not the *worst* QFC on the eastside (I'd put it solidly above the 50th percentile, which says a lot about the state of the brand), and it's definitely still better than "the old QFC", but it's a marked downturn from what it used to be in years past (even post Kroger merge)

SAFEWAY @ REDMOND…read more Parking is available in a large plaza shared with other stores and restaurants, and there's plenty of free parking. I was easily able to find a spot right in front of Safeway, and there is also handicap parking available. I had never been to this Safeway location in Redmond before since I usually go to the Kirkland or Bellevue locations. This one was huge. Walking in, there was a giant sign saying they were hiring, and the store itself felt very spacious with so many aisles and a wide variety of items to choose from. I definitely think this Safeway has a much larger selection compared to other locations. They even had organic green onions, which I want to point out because every single time I go to the Kirkland location, they never have them. I really loved how much more this store had to offer. They also have both self-checkout and regular checkout lanes, which is always convenient. My only downside, and the reason I'd knock off a star was that there were a lot of workers restocking items right in the middle of the aisles. It was around 1 PM, and there were boxes everywhere, especially in the frozen aisle, making it difficult for people to get through. Restocking like that feels more like a nighttime or after-hours task, so it was a bit frustrating navigating around everything. Overall though, I would definitely recommend stopping by this Safeway. It's spacious, well-stocked, and I really loved the variety and the small deals they had going on, especially in the fruit section.

I am very easy going and work in the grocery service industry so for me to complain is not a small thing at all. I went in with a bandage on my arm and was unable to use it so was just using one arm, came to a produce end cap I needed that was totally blocked off by one of the workers by two carts and a speed rack type thing. I asked if I could get in to grab some and he looked and me, said "go for it" and then turned away. I couldn't reach it nor could I move his things one handed. I asked for help from another customer who had a long reach and two hands so he could reach way over and get what I needed. I asked for help to find the fresh mozzarella and the young woman said to check with "the guy in the deli". I got to the check out and put the basket up on the counter and then was totally reprimanded for doing so at it was a danger and he had got his arm caught and on and on. There are no signs saying you need to empty the basket and being one handed it didn't occur to me. Then my phone number didn't work, despite being told every time I go in it would work the next time so I pulled up the code and then that was wrong because I didn't hold it in the right place. Then he said "oh you saved a whole .12 cents. Wow." So sarcastically that I hope he was kidding. No one was in line behind me so not sure what his hurry was. It was a thoroughly negative experience and at the end I was made to feel bad for doing what most shoppers do. I also wonder if anyone ever told him he has control over the belt being on and off. Leaving it off would be a way to control whether his arm gets so dramatically caught by a basket as he acted out for me twice. My arm was obviously and fully bandaged from surgery but that was not something he even noticed. I have zero desire to go back anymore. Used to do a lot of shopping there.
