SAFEWAY @ REDMOND Parking is available in a large plaza shared with other stores and restaurants, and there's plenty of free parking. I was easily able to find a spot right in front of Safeway, and there is also handicap parking available. I had never been to this Safeway location in Redmond before since I usually go to the Kirkland or Bellevue locations. This one was huge. Walking in, there was a giant sign saying they were hiring, and the store itself felt very spacious with so many aisles and a wide variety of items to choose from. I definitely think this Safeway has a much larger selection compared to other locations. They even had organic green onions, which I want to point out because every single time I go to the Kirkland location, they never have them. I really loved how much more this store had to offer. They also have both self-checkout and regular checkout lanes, which is always convenient. My only downside, and the reason I'd knock off a star was that there were a lot of workers restocking items right in the middle of the aisles. It was around 1 PM, and there were boxes everywhere, especially in the frozen aisle, making it difficult for people to get through. Restocking like that feels more like a nighttime or after-hours task, so it was a bit frustrating navigating around everything. Overall though, I would definitely recommend stopping by this Safeway. It's spacious, well-stocked, and I really loved the variety and the small deals they had going on, especially in the fruit section. read more

Stopped by this Safeway on Redmond Way while I was in the area. It's in a busy shopping center, but there's plenty of parking. The store was clean and organized, with a public restroom toward the back. The meat selection felt smaller than other Safeway locations, and there weren't many employees around if you needed help. Selections are decent but at least in the evenings, everyone is pretty much forced to check themselves out. I've tried twice to request a cashier but no cashier comes out to help within at least five minutes. I'm not a cashier nor is it fair to ask me to be respond for the checkout process. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I've lived in the Avondale area for over five years and have never experienced such poor customer service at a local store. I stopped by the Redmond Safeway and saw cherries advertised at $2.47/lb with a digital coupon. I clipped the deal in the app, but at checkout, the discount didn't apply. When I asked for help, two employees insisted it was my fault--even after I showed them the clipped deal on my phone. They blamed everything from the app to my phone's location settings, but offered no real solution. I spent over 30 minutes trying to resolve a simple issue. In the end, I returned the product because neither staff member was willing to assist or take responsibility. I've never been treated so poorly as a loyal customer. So complicated, takes forever; I feel cheated. The sign says "Scan here with the Foru App to add Digital offer". But There is no Foru App! There is a Safeway app. If you want to call yourself "Foru", I suggest you create a Foru app and change the sign on the building! We were enticed by the sign "Digital Deal 37c each sweet corn" so we picked up one. But it scanned at $1.00. The Safeway employee at the self check counter said 37c is only if you buy six. But the sign says nothing about that; it just says limit of 8. We had the employee void the purchase. We didn't buy corn. After checking out, we went back to the corn, and tried to add the digital offer to our SAFEWAY app. Took several tries. It kept loading instead $1 off $15 produce. We finally did get it to load, but I don't know if we'll be back to the store to use it. Sometimes you want to pick up a roasted chicken without it being in the trunk of someone's car for an hour. To check out at this Safeway you either have to sit in line for half an hour waiting for self checkout, or wait half and hour for the one (1) cashier who also happens to be the slowest moving person on the planet earth. Normally, I don't leave many reviews. When I get bad service I usually will give them multiple chance, as you never know whats going on with someones life. Today, I went to Safeway in Redmond (Bear Creek) to get my weekly groceries. I normally would do deliver to my car, as I suffer from RA which makes grabbing/carrying and picking up items painful experience. I was sick all week and decided to go and do my actual shopping. I get my stuff and go to the check out counter (were the reasonable expectation is that someone will bag your stuff for you), not the self serve check out. I get there, there is this old guy who I have dealt with before and he gets pissy every time, I ask for them to bag my stuff. Today, He doesn't say hello, Hi or anything, other than "oh your that rude customer who makes us bag your stuff for you". I will say that set me off. I was shocked that a customer service rep of a company would say that to the customer. I do admit I went off on him, called the manager who did basically not a darn thing. I come often to this store because it's close by and stays open late . It's had the basics of what I needed usually. But what I can't get over is the customer service that just seems to actually just not be there. At self checkout there is no acknowledgement that a customer is standing there or leaving. Same when at the regular checkout when someone is scanning your items, not a single word is said to you, the bagger bags your stuff and returns to their phone. I say thanks! have a good day! Went to get some alcohol, and at the self-checkout, needed to show ID. The manager on duty came to our checkout station, scanned his badge, said "Put in your own birthdate." then left. He did not even look at my ID. I of course was not having that, so I called him back, and said "Hey, I shouldn't be inputting this, it's your job man, can you check my ID?" He grabbed it and said "Are you underage?" I replied, "no I am not, it's your job to check IDs!" He mumbled that he was helping another lady, put in the birthdate and then hastily handed off my ID back to me. Absolutely insane, I believe Safeway should not be employing people who have blatant disregard for customers and the safety and integrity of the store they manage. What if I had been underage? Honestly I would like to give more stars, but I just can't... Best thing about this store is Kathy Mac, one of the most sweet, wonderful checkers you'll ever meet. She is a 5 star employee. I came to this Safeway 2-3 days a week for a year and a half straight. I worked part time across the street at Everything Party during that time. I've had some of the worst experiences out of any Safeway ever, here. :( I've purchased (and returned) rotten salads, mold in my mixed fruit cup/container, and they never keep their cold drink section stocked, at least not with the sugar free HiBall energy water that my husband and I usually stop in for daily. Every day this week (4 days) we have purchased a warm HiBall drink, today we left empty handed to go get cold ones from Whole Foods. We talked to one of the morning checkers (not Kathy Mac, but the taller bigger lady) about the cold drink section not being stocked days ago and she basically told us, "that might not be our job to keep those stocked cold" like HiBall should be doing it. I said, I don't care whose job it is, the point is that it's not getting done. Went through that same checkers line the next day with warm drinks again. The lack of care at this Safeway takes the cake of all Safeways. We live by the one at the other end of Avondale and I work near another one in Bellevue. So dissatisfied with the change in florist. Before I used to buy tons of flowers there for many work events and personal. Apparently the super star florist, Melissa was moved to a Bellevue location so now they have a florist who uses old flowers and has no customer service skills. I just bought flowers earlier this week and had to settle for mediocre overpriced arrangements because I was in a rush but last night my husband went to get s couple arrangements for Mother's Day and he even asked her to refresh some of the flowers. About a month ago I was followed through the dark parking lot by one of their employees, my privacy was violated as he took pictures of myself, my husband and our car. When I confronted him, he accused me of stealing. Even after I got out, and showed him my receipt, he still kept going, saying he didn't see me pay. He never apologized and walked away with the police still on his phone. I complained to corporate, they made a case and said they would send it to the store and I would hear from them. I went in once a week and even after leaving my name and phone number 4 times and talking to the store director Steven, I still got no call or follow-up or anything. I'm forced to conclude they agree with their employees harassing and violating their customers privacy. I recently lost my friendship ring that my wife gave me when were engaged 27 years ago. I was fortune to get great help from Jenny and Rosa to help find the ring in their lost and found items. Made the mistake of coming in here before work at around 7 am. Only one checkout lane open and no self checkouts open. Came in for one item and stood in line to checkout for 20 minutes. 8 people ahead of me and the cashier didn't bother wiping down or sanitizing a single surface between customers. Terrible customer service. They announced on the speaker several times that they close at 10 pm and it was 8:50 pm. A little early for this announcement. I went to order meat from the deli at 9pm and was told the deli is closed and all the meat had been put away. He rudely said it was closed and went about his business. Every time I shop here I'm reminded why it's been 6 months even though they are the closest store. They WILL CHEAT YOU if you don't watch the cash register and MAKE them give you the price shown on the display EVEN WITH A CLUB CARD. Then they act like YOU are the one trying to cheat THEM. It happens EVERY TIME - most often on their soda "offers" which they SHOULD KNOW. This store is poorly run, rarely answers product inquiries (such as do you still stock this or are you just out of it AGAIN?). Went to the deli to get dinner. I think the deli manager thought he was doing me a favor by giving me three pieces of chicken for the price of two. Now I have three legs of old, dried out chicken instead of two. Even when you get past the hard coating on the chicken leg the dried out meat is inedible. This store is right down the street from me and I go out of my way to avoid it. I stop here whenever I have no choice or need something asap. Each time I'm reminded why I hate shopping here. My main issues are the cleanliness and the lack of enforcement regarding COVID guidelines. I've seen many customers with either no mask or their masks on their chins. Safeway used to have a presence in the UK but they sold all their supermarkets to Morrisons a few years ago. I shop in Safeway quite a lot in the USA mainly because they seem to be very prevalent. My love of all things Safeway probably apply to all US supermarket chains but you do get more in US supermarkets than in UK supermarkets. The range of goods is wider. For example, the size of scallops that you can buy in US supermarkets is bigger than you find in fine dining restaurants in the UK. The thickness of steaks is frankly frightening to a Brit! I love the fresh fruit and a big container of freshly cut watermelon always makes it into my basket. There is a large range of freshly cooked items for takeout and immediate consumption. I like the fact that your loyalty card will reap you some immediate rewards with some items being available for cheaper to card holders. I like the fact that they will pack groceries for you I like them better than Tesco in the UK read more

The customer service at this location seems to have gone downhill lately. The past few times I have been there between 5 and 8pm, the lines to check out have been crazy long. Tonight was the worst, with at least 20 people waiting in 3 lines (2 regular, 1 express). I spent 23 minutes in line which is CRAZY, I would have ditched my cart and left like several other people but didn't feel like collecting all those groceries at another store. After all that waiting, my cashier roughly tossed each item to the bagger, breaking my cookies in the process - thank goodness I didn't get any eggs! Yay Safeway! I called ahead of time to make sure you could make a cake for my grandma's 90th b-day and you said no problem. Showed up on Saturday to pick out a design and let you know what we wanted in writing. The lady in the bakery was extremely helpful and we filled out our order form with her help. All set to come back the next day! Hooray! We came back on Sunday during the time we had said, 12-12:30pm.. and it was not ready yet. So we shopped around for other items we needed. Like wine and balloons. The balloon/florist was friendly and helped me with a balloon bouquet for my grandma! 1 Milar balloon and 5 purple balloons. Then we grabbed a cute lavender plant and headed back over to the bakery. The cake was AMAZING! Perfect colors and writing! (It tasted amazing too. Not too sweet and the fresh strawberries on the inside were a HUGE hit) I really enjoyed my experience with this Safeway and would recommend them. This is one of those reviews where I wish I could give less than 1 star. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!!!!! I don't go to Safeway very often, and I was reminded why this afternoon. First of all, let me just start with the layout of this store.....scattered, disorganized and confusing. There are 2-3 different juice sections...2-3 different sections for cold cuts....displays nowhere near where you'd find more of a similar product...it was so disorganized- there was NO variety in the selection of goods. I did like the produce department, but that was about it. Now, let's get on to the good stuff: the check out process: So, trying to remember the phone number I used for my Safeway Club Card, I enter the 1st of 2 possibilities. It comes up expired (?). The bagger overhears this, finds a club card application form and says, "Your card does not work. You need a new one. You need a new one because the phone number you entered is invalid. Here." and gives it to me. I ask to look up a 2nd phone number and the cashier tells me "well then I'm going to have to clear the screen" in an annoyed voice (okay? clear it...) So, he does what he needs to do and the 2nd phone number works. I'm sure I'm not the only person who ever entered in the wrong phone number for their club card...anyways: I brought in 4 re-usable grocery bags and they were in my cart. I pushed my cart forward AFTER informing the cashier that I have water on the bottom. Mind you, I have my child on hip, and my purse wallet and bag in the other. The bagger screams in a LOUD voice so that everyone looks at me "THERE IS WATER ON THE BOTTOM! DID YOU RING IT UP?!" then she tells me "You have to pay for that, you know" Okay, first of all, I told the cashier it was there...second of all, why would I pay for $80 of groceries and steal freaking $2.99 of bottled water? No really? I have to pay for it? It wasn't complimentary 24 pack of water free with purchase day???!!?! THEN, as the cashier is checking out my stuff, he asks me "What kind of apples are these?" Now, I bought 1-2 of 6 different types of apples. My husband is trying to determine his favorite apple, so every time I shop, I get 1 or 2 of all the different types that I see. Since I had 5 other bags, I wasn't sure what ones those were....(isn't that his job??) I told him, I don't know, let me see the others...and he sighs really loudly, puts 3 different bags of apples that were NOT all the same, and rings them all up as "pink lady" whatever...then, he gets to my sweet potato and rings it up as "Organic naval orange" whatever...and when he sees my red potatoes, he asks "how much were these?" I don't know?!?! Again, isn't that his job? He then sighs loudly, gives me another dirty look and complains that "now he has to look it up" and goes through the book of vegetable codes. I seriously wanted to cry when I was done shopping. I felt so stupid and embarrassed. Now, I go grocery shopping about 3-4 times per week (usually I just get a few things for the next day or 2 for dinners and whatnot). I have bought apples the same way at every store in Redmond and most stores in Bellevue. It's funny how QFC and Fred Meyer have never asked what apples I bought, they've never asked me for a price and they have never complained to me if they had to look anything up. I put water under my cart every time I buy it, I have always informed the cashier and I have NEVER been told "you have to pay for that" lol. I have forgotten my club card at both Fred Meyer and QFC and it has NEVER been a problem for them to look it up. ***This is not me having a "bad day." I just made the ridiculous choice to stop by because I just needed a few things and figured that if I moved really quickly, maybe the suckage wouldn't get me. No. I don't know what made the experience more special: the fact that, once I got back to my car, I realized that the potatoes I bought were rotten (leaving my car with a potent fishy smell) or the Safeway guy at the 'help desk' that looked at me and walked away when I said I needed help. Customer service here is terrible every time I come, like today for example. I'm at self check out literally right next to the lady that works in that area and the machine is acting up. I asked her for help she takes care of it and it does it again then she starts examining what's in my bag with zero communication as if she wasn't looking at us scan our groceries the whole time. This was the worst Safeway I have ever been to. The staff had zero customer service to an extent of being outwardly rude. At first I thought it was just the butcher who just didn't know where things where in the store. But "Ben" in the deli was even worse when he scared my small child yelling at a co worker and then threw my lunch meat on the counter and walked away before I could order anything else. Nothing improved when I went to check out. The cashier did not speak one word to me and when I requested paper bags the bagger didn't want to give me the ones with handles even after the cashier handed them to her. I just had the RUDEST exchange with a deli person who saw fit to talk her cashier coworker into cutting another customer in line while I was obviously before him. I wasn't asked, just shoved aside. But it's okay, because he had "to get back to work", when apparently my time is worth nothing because I just need to get back to my van down by the river. Later she came over to say something and I asked her to walk away from me because she was very rude and I don't want to talk to her. She then started to explain how I was rude! WHA?!? Then as I was at the customer service desk getting the mistake fixed that her cashier coworker made (changed me for five items instead of four), I saw another Safeway worker walk over to her and ask what happened. Then Ms. Rudey McRude's arms started flaring and over-reacting. The most disgusting part was they were doing it in front of another customer who was waiting to get some deli items.
