Worst Safeway to buy groceries. Checkout wait time could be up to 30 to 40 mins. Never buy balloons because they are always short staffed.

Big store, big selection, now give me a big cup of Starbucks! Love this place and all the amazing food. Check out the deli and bakery section - amazing! A few years ago, I wanted to impress a guy with a homecooked meal (that I had to bring to him). Unfortunately, the power went out when I was about to start cooking. Running out of time, I borrowed some Tupperware from my mom and dropped by this Safeway to pick up some "homemade" food. The guys in the bakery helped take off chocolate shavings and smear the topping so that the chocolate cream pie would look more authentic. Saved the day, thankyouverymuch. I had to edit my review, because I just had the grossest experience ever with something purchased from a grocery store. I bought some hard cider here, and discovered that the bottles had been opened and someone had taken tiny drinks out of them before replacing the caps. I called in to let the store know, and they were willing to give my money back but only if I returned the case of opened bottles and alcohol. Since I didn't feel like getting arrested for driving with six open bottles of booze in my car, I'm not bringing it back. I guess I'm out $10, as well as being incredibly grossed out. I don't think I'll ever buy alcohol here again, or any beverage for that matter. Ick. read more

This is the worst Safeway I have ever been to. They usually only have 2 isles open, and I have never been able to check out in less than 15 min. Do not go here if you need to be in and out quick. Instead go to the Fred Meyer nearby. read more

After over a year I came on Sunday night because we were at another store close by. The same homeless person was in the fruit section, but this time I did not witness her eating the open fruits. She was talking to herself. I feel sad because it is not her fault. I feel this Safeway is not safe. As always the employees are rude and is not an enjoyable experience like at QFC. read more

Safeway near my home...why did you turn out to be a podunk Safeway, mocking me with what you don't have? For a grocery store of this size, you'd expect perhaps more variety. I'm not sure why, but there are few choices amongst the products they do have, especially in the packaged cheese aisle (which is where I am routinely disappointed here). On the plus side, you have a Starbucks kiosk inside the store; that always saves me a trip. And your parking is quite ample, even though there's other large shops in the mall. AND you have a turn signal light on the Redmond Way side, which means convenient left turns out of the parking lot. Those are worth a couple of extra stars to me! But when I'm wandering through looking for alternate forms of Swiss cheese, ice cream or cuts of beef, I'm always saddened that your offerings are slim. Even your cat food choices are limited. This is the closest grocery store to my current home in Redmond. I look forward to my move to Issaquah in the next few months and the hope for a better grocery shopping experience. This store desperately needs a complete overhaul the kind where they close the store, gut it and reopen with new carts that are CLEAN and have seat belts for my toddler! I was in this store early this morning with my baby. I had a very difficult time with her in one arm going through row after row of nasty grocery carts. Sure they have the Sanitizer, but there is only so much FUNK I can remove before I give up. I have learned between the carts and often long lines, it's best to keep my youngest at home. I have to commend the company for giving jobs to those with Special Needs, they are usually the nicest and hardest working employees at this store. I walked up on two employees talking about something one cussing with my baby in tow. They helped me get an acceptable cart and told me it was the responsibility of the baggers to deal with the carts. I told the manager who made that comment that Target around the corner has brand new carts, she quickly replied with an excuse stating that that Target was in the middle of a remodel. Between the customer service issues, beggers asking for money and almost always hanging around the store, I don't understand how a company would find this store as acceptable. The ONLY reason folks shop here is because it is generally cheaper and better stocked in the grocery area than Target (for now anyways!) and a lot more wallet friendly than Wholefoods. read more

This is a decent market. Produce is decent, fresh, good selection.. blahblah. Deli is good. Bakery is good. Service is fab. Why only 3 stars? I went to the deli to ask for ground pork and the guy led to me.. bum bum bum... CHORIZO. Heeey you know what? If you work in the meat department, you should probably know that while all chorizo is pork, not all pork is chorizo. Oh, thanks for having hand sanitizer wipes, though. You should really carry ground pork. We're not all halal or whatever. Chinese and Koreans tend to love pork. read more

This is my usual stop for groceries near home. Pretty middle of the road. I will by be buying produce here anymore. I brought a stalk of broccoli and thought nothing of it. Today I packed the broccoli and found I might have eaten a dozen wormy larva; no bigger than a pin head. I would check your produce Safeway! Need to open more register lanes on Friday evenings when there are only 3 lanes open with each lane having HUGE LINEUPS that look like a concert gathering instead of a grocery store. I should have taken a photo. It reminds me why I don't really shop here and instead shop at Fred Meyers down the street as they have the self checkout lanes that I love since I usually buy a few items at a time. read more

Always only 2-3 lanes open with lines halfway down the aisle. They never call for backup and the manager just stands at the service counter.

The checkout process needs to be corrected. There are long checkout lines every time I come here. No self-checkout, only 2 registers open (maybe 3 on a good day), even at peak shopping periods. I'm shopping now, the two registers open have lines so long you can't really pass between aisles without bumping into shoppers. It's 2017, this is a solvable problem. Updated to add: I went in yesterday for one thing--eggs for a recipe I had to make last night. I was in a time crunch. I always check the eggs before I buy, I hate paying for broken eggs especially when I need every one for something I'm baking. The first four boxes I looked at had at least one cracked egg in each. The box I finally settled on looked good. But, when I got home and was nearly through the box, I found a row with 3 cracked eggs. I don't normally return stuff, but the shopping experience yesterday was such a pain I thought it was appropriate to register some complaint. When I returned the eggs I was given a hard time for not having a full box, and it was expected that they would replace the broken eggs. I've never gone to a store with a faulty product and felt the need to justify my return, but in this case I had to. I explained my experience and frustration and the lady allowed me to return the eggs. I'm grateful they were willing to make an exchange...but this should have been handled better. read more

This store has been a disappointment every single time I have shopped there in Redmond. Employees usually are not helpful in finding things and the manager is a grumpy old man! Ugh! Only one employee helped me this evening and she was clocking out so she did it on her time off! Jenny was her name and I won't forget that. She made the time to show me where things were when a previous employee told me that they didn't carry ammonia or condensed milk. This lady went out of her way to help me find these items. The manager is not a nice person and grumpy as hell. He needs to get an attitude adjustment! I'm still angry about it! Corporate needs to teach him to be more helpful and less of a jerk! Safeway is my go to store but if people like him keep acting like that I'm going to Fred Meyer or QFC! So disappointed! The k my saving grace was that nice young lady Jenny! She went out of her way after she clocked out when she didn't have to. The manager was rude to her when she was trying g to help me which made me angrier! This review is mostly regarding peoples with disabilities. 1) If you shop in the evening, they lock the doors near the scooters so you have to walk from the disabled parking spaces across the front of the store to the left hand doors, then all the way across the store again to the scooters by the right hand doors. Needless to say, if you needed a scooter in the first place, you are probably out of luck. 2) When I went this evening, all 3-4 scooters were out of order. For all their scooters to be out of order at the same time they can't be doing regular maintenance on them. It's pretty much go here at your own risk for anyone who is disabled and hope you'll have a working scooter. 3) When I asked the manager when the scooters would be fixed so I would know when I could go grocery shopping I was told. "I don't know. I can't guarantee anything." So my options are go without groceries for an indefinite amount of time, go to a store further away which is difficult for me as well, or wait a few more days for a delivery service. Basically this store failed with basic disability accommodations on almost every level, from policies, to making accommodations available, to management. Today was the first time I ever shopped at this Safeway. I just opened a business in the area so this is the closest grocery store. My shopping experience went just fine, but the cashier was extremely rude. He was impatient and sarcastic. This review is being written in place of speaking to a manager about his lack of customer service skills. I will probably go out of my way to avoid this store now, but if I do so happen to end up shopping here and get the same treatment, I will give he or she a "piece of my mind". read more

This is the Closest Safeway to my place. Like most of the Safeway outlets this branch also has abundant parking. The biggest plus about this place is the location since it is located right next to Redmond town centre. The staff strength is average. The negative part about this store is that I always see only two payment counters ON so it takes quite some time for billing. The other thing is that there is no self checkout here. read more

Safeway's Monopoly game was designed to play everyone like a sucker. It was a complete sham. They claim "One in Four Wins". Well, what that actually means is that you have a one in four chance of winning a COUPON worth 25 cents off a can of Spam (or other coupon that is no greater than if they put that item on sale at the store). Several friends and I have over one thousand game pieces yet not one single person has won anything. The game is rigged and Safeway has "played" their customers big time. It's resulted in the company profiting tens of millions while they've taken advantage of customers. Someone should sue for false representation but I'm sure their lawyers covered all deceitful details in the fine print. Trustworthy stores like QFC and Fred Meyer are the only places we'll shop at in the future. read more

Unbelievable that there is no self check out. Long lines even for "Express" lanes. There are 2 express lanes: one with a 15 item limit and the second with a 20 item limit. Since when is 20 items express?! There are 4 other checkout lanes and only 2 are open at 7:30 on a Sunday night. A 15 minute wait in the Express lane is just....not express. read more

I understand that before they had self check-out it was a little frustrating to wait for check-out. Now that they have opened self check-out it has alleviated a lot of wait time. I do appreciate them making that effort to accommodate. I do want to highlight that most of the time I walk in I am greeted with a smile and asked if I need assistance. I do mainly shop in the mornings, so others may have a different experience depending on time of day, so far it's been great for me. I especially wanted to give a shout-out to Vera(deli) and Mariko(bakery). These two employees are amazing! When I walk through the deli Vera always has a smile and willingness to help. Mariko made a unicorn cake for our daughter's birthday, it was so amazing that our friends didn't believe it was from Safeway; the decoration, the taste, everything was on point! Jesse and Trevor at the cashier are very friendly and helpful too. I know most of these reviews give a bad rating, however, you must look at the fact that they are trying to improve. read more

If I could give zero stars I would because this place deserves it. All Safeway stores have gone massively downhill since they took out the self checkouts, but this one especially. Multiple times I've had to wait in a line of around 10 people with full carts to buy 2-3 items because they seemingly refuse to hire more cashiers. Everyone working there acts like they'd rather be dead or anywhere else and are the slowest people on Earth. I understand working at a grocery is stressful but don't make me miserable for it. Avoid this place like the plague, go to QFC, Fred Meyer, or Trader Joe's. TJ's doesn't have self checkout but at least they understand quick, friendly service. read more

1 Star, because Zero isn't an option! Worst experience in years! I went to the deli counter to order the Select sandwich. I told the employee behind the counter that I wanted the special lunch deal. Because they cannot view the sign from there, I explained three times that it was the roasted gouda & turkey wrap. I even pointed out that the sandwich was their featured deal of the day. Finally, the server began to make the sandwich, but when it was almost complete, they dropped it all over the floor. Starting over, they began with the right meat, but didn't toast it like before. Then, they left it partially made and began building a sandwich for the guy behind me in line. Finally, after 7 minutes of waiting, they started completing my sandwich. However, when I finally got it, they would not charge me the featured deal price, but insisted on charging me the full price. After a 10+ minute effort to get a sandwich, I left, but soon discovered they had used some kind of horseradish & pepper sauce that made it completely inedible. What a waste of time & $$$; from now on I'll be buying my sandwiches at a dedicated sandwich shop that can make them to a customer's expectations. read more

I like Safeway overall as a store, but I'm not a fan of this location. In terms of cleanliness, it is good. In terms of having the things I want in stock, they do a great job. The checkers in particular are friendly as well. With that being said, I do NOT have a desire to come to Safeway when I am looking for a quick in and out. No matter how busy or how slow they are, the whole checking out process takes a while. If there are a lot of people in line, they will open up maybe one or two more registers yet it still is slow. When things do slow down, you're stuck with one or two lanes to purchase from. Keep in mind, the store still has customers...I'm not talking about just a few customers looking to checkout. I just wish they could try a bit harder to keep the lines down to just a few customers at any given time. I'd say Fred Meyer excels in this area. This Safeway can learn a thing or two from them. I know this Safeway isn't hurting with having enough staff, so I don't think that's the reason. It's a matter of efficiency and shooting for the best customer service. Also, anytime I need anything from the customer service counter, more often then not there isn't anyone there to help. When there is, they are again slow and I feel they don't even recognize the others in line. They take their sweet time. I don't know...I'm just not a fan of this location. I try to do all my shopping at Trader Joe's. Anytime I do end up at Safeway, I get a little frustrated. I'm also still a bit surprised they have yet to get on board with the self checkout system. Nice and clean store but the management and some of their staff are rude as heck. One of the vendors helped us find an item since there was no one available from the staff to help. Manager must have been having a bad day because he was ringing us up and seemed mad and was an unfriendly fellow. The bagger was putting our groceries away and all of the sudden he left and we had to finish packing then ourselves. My dad needed an electric car and the ones available did not work. read more

I like this Safeway due to the 24-hour​ convenience, but it has gone a little downhill. Especially with their sale items. If they are posting the sale, they should write with specific clarity. For example, I saw an item on sale that is 2 for $4.00 and it says $2.00 each. It doesn't say that I have to buy the two, but once I head to checkout, I don't see the sale item price anymore. The cashier told me I must buy two. Safeway should write on sale items on that particular example 'must buy two to qualify sale item' instead of wasting my time carrying the heavy item. Safeway has changed. Before​ I could have bought the sale item for one instead of the two and there was no issue with it. read more

The one public restroom stall is very dirty, smelly, and had no toilet paper. One employee was very helpful in trying to find more TP but was unsuccessful after 10 minutes. It's hard to concentrate when I have to go so I left without buying my groceries. read more

I walked to the store, rolling my cart behind me, in the snow. Having a newly diagnosed heart condition, this was not a smart move! I got to the store, put my cart in the shopping cart, and purchased my groceries. After taking my cart out of the shopping cart, I noticed the wheels were gone! After a few minutes of searching, Jim, the store manager came to my aid, taking me home. Of course, when I got out of his car, I found one wheel, then another close to my apt. I give Jim and all his staff huge kudos, thanks, and my gratitude for going beyond the call of duty. I am new to this area, and I definitely will be returning to this wonderful Safeway store. I have sometimes used this Safeway on my way home and I have to say I'm not particularly impressed. For some reason the layout of this store is weird and the people who shop here are rude, always in a hurry, cut you off, etc. The only good experience I've had is the service at the Starbucks inside the store. If you have a choice, go elsewhere. read more

This store is practically in my back yard so it's the grocery store I frequent the most. It's variety is a little lacking but they make up for it in their customer service. Maybe because I go in so often, the cashiers treat me like an old friend. Antonia in the deli is a sweetheart and one of the gentlemen in the produce is the best. He always helps me find the juiciest mangoes. With the exception of one cashier (I won't name names) everyone is friendly and helpful. read more
