a frozen section of a grocery store
Tia R.

It's ok. It has all the essentials, food and some other stuff. They are usually understocked, but I've never had problems finding what I need. The main problem is the bathroom. The bathroom isn't clean, I never go to the bathroom here. Otherwise, it's an ok store, I've been to better stores.

Worst Safeway to buy groceries. Checkout wait time could be up to 30 to 40 mins. Never buy balloons because they are always short staffed.

Extremely understaffed - expect to wait for at least 10 minutes standing in line at checkout

Always only 2-3 lanes open with lines halfway down the aisle. They never call for backup and the manager just stands at the service counter.

Safeway just seems to not care about checking people out promptly. I've gone to Fred Meyers to save 40 minutes In the check out line

The store itself is well-organized, making it easy to navigate through aisles. I appreciate the seasonal selections and unique products they offer. It makes it very easy to find new recipes, especially at a time where other grocery stores are significantly more expensive. My most recent trip only cost me $60 for 3 different types of meats, 3 fruits, and lots of miscellaneous items like flowers! With an efficient checkout process and friendly employees, this Trader Joe's remains my go-to grocery stores!

TRADER JOE's @ REDMOND…read more Parking can get pretty busy especially it being on a weekend. This Trader Joe's also shares a complex with other stores such as QFC. Walking in, the place is pretty small, compared to other Trader Joe's in Washington. The quality of the fresh items aren't the greatest, we were looking for strawberries that were organic, and they still had leaves in it and some looked like mold was formulating. Other food items however in the frozen aisles were good, they always have new items and I really enjoy how spacious the aisles are from one to another. The service itself wasn't the best. Every Trader Joe's i've been to people are ALWAYS asking about your day, how you are, or even the bare of smiling and being nice. The guy who checked us out had a straight face the entire time, literally no expression. I just felt like the staff here isn't as friendly as Bellevue or Kirkland's location. Overall, I wouldn't come back to this Trader Joe's ad my first choice, it was smaller than the other location, less quality on the products, and staff weren't friendly as other locations.

QFC used to be a local grocery chain. Then Kroger ate them (this was many years ago). QFC got a…read morelittle worse. Then Safeway ate Albertsons and QFC got a lot worse. Now Kroger is trying to eat Safeway, and QFC jumping the gun by preemptively taking a nose dive. For years, people called this store "the new QFC" because it was newer and nicer and shinier (and, imo, better-smelling) than the one a couple blocks over. We didn't know how good we had it then! This particular location used to be clean, well-organized, well-stocked, and appropriately staffed. Variety and quality of foods (especially produce) seems to have taken a downturn. Now, pick 2 of those at any given time and you'll be lucky. Less pharmacy hours, never anyone at the customer service desk, a giant bay of tiny u scans with one harried employee trying to deal with everyone's coupons, misweighed items, and produce with no stickers. Locked cases popping up all over the store, but only one or two employees in the entire store who can open them. Worse yet, a lot of the stuff in the cases doesn't have pricetags, so you just have to guess - not great for what are ostensibly some of the most expensive items in the building. Don't bother asking that employee who unlocked the case for you; they probably already have a gaggle of other customers following them around like the pied Piper, waiting for them to unlock some other case on the opposite side of the store. To be exceptionally clear in case some corporate scrooge reads this: none of this is the employees' fault, they are doing the best they can, and this is all clearly the consequence of corporate cost-cutting measures. I'd give it 3.5 stars because it's not the *worst* QFC on the eastside (I'd put it solidly above the 50th percentile, which says a lot about the state of the brand), and it's definitely still better than "the old QFC", but it's a marked downturn from what it used to be in years past (even post Kroger merge)

I usually only stop by for the beauty and health section along with refilling my water jugs with the alkaline water but I do really enjoy their seating area if you are sitting down for some sushi or hot food you just bought. They keep the tables clean. Noticed they do limit the checker lanes though so they seem to rely on the self checkout. Whole Foods is expensive so it's not my go to grocery store but for specific things I need, this location I can count on being a chill and nice experience.

I am very easy going and work in the grocery service industry so for me to complain is not a small thing at all. I went in with a bandage on my arm and was unable to use it so was just using one arm, came to a produce end cap I needed that was totally blocked off by one of the workers by two carts and a speed rack type thing. I asked if I could get in to grab some and he looked and me, said "go for it" and then turned away. I couldn't reach it nor could I move his things one handed. I asked for help from another customer who had a long reach and two hands so he could reach way over and get what I needed. I asked for help to find the fresh mozzarella and the young woman said to check with "the guy in the deli". I got to the check out and put the basket up on the counter and then was totally reprimanded for doing so at it was a danger and he had got his arm caught and on and on. There are no signs saying you need to empty the basket and being one handed it didn't occur to me. Then my phone number didn't work, despite being told every time I go in it would work the next time so I pulled up the code and then that was wrong because I didn't hold it in the right place. Then he said "oh you saved a whole .12 cents. Wow." So sarcastically that I hope he was kidding. No one was in line behind me so not sure what his hurry was. It was a thoroughly negative experience and at the end I was made to feel bad for doing what most shoppers do. I also wonder if anyone ever told him he has control over the belt being on and off. Leaving it off would be a way to control whether his arm gets so dramatically caught by a basket as he acted out for me twice. My arm was obviously and fully bandaged from surgery but that was not something he even noticed. I have zero desire to go back anymore. Used to do a lot of shopping there.

SAFEWAY @ KIRKLAND…read more This used to be one of my favorite Safeway locations in Washington! It's spacious, has great produce, and items. It has however changed over the time, the staff don't seem friendly, I've walked in a couple times and just been fully glared at by staff in the front. Bathrooms are dirty and it's pretty sticky floors. There is also workers smoking on the side of Safeway outside right by the Handicap, no issue with smoking, but they are ALWAYS lingering around where customers are walking to the car. There is also homeless people always out front where you enter 124th street. Other than that, the selection is great, there is a Starbucks in the store as well, and the produce is fresh. I really enjoy the bakery items, they are delicious and the workers are always kind there!

Parking is plentiful and easy. And the location is right on a busy stretch of NE 85th Street that is close to I-405. The customer service was great. I had mistakenly picked up the wrong box of berries that were not on sale and told the self-checkout clerk that I would run back to the produce area to grab the right ones. When I came back, the clerk offered to ring my groceries up herself. I really appreciate how she went above and beyond. Little gestures like this help to rebuild customer loyalty.
