This is one of my go-to stores for any afternoon tea needs. The British Pantry has a solid selection of teas, biscuits, candies, marmalades, tea pots, cups, and even cookbooks. The retail store is small yet has everything I'm looking for. They also have a cafe located next door. They offer traditional tea's from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM daily. They also serve lunch from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM daily. I usually stock up on biscuits and teas. They also have a bakery case filled with pasties, hand pies, and tarts. Their tea pot selection is also decent and ideal for gift giving. I'm definitely returning for their lunch service at their cafe next door. Staff has always been friendly and quick to offer assistance. Prices are comparable to other specialty shops. read more

The best BP! My grandparents were British and this was where they got proper bangers their whole adult lives here in the PNW. It was always a treat to go to the imports side when I was a kid (I loved Smarties then and Fruit Pastiles now, always saved the black currant ones for my Grandpa as he made such a delightful fuss), and my mom and I still go to the restaurant occasionally to talk about her parents and the Royal family and our kin back in the UK (that we see occasionally on FB). Nothing like a good bangers and mash or fish and chips that I don't even have to cook and wash up after. Horrible service. The male employee falsely assumed that my mother had a cognitive disability, apparently because he thought she did not understand English. This was completely inappropriate and baseless. My mother speaks fluent English. It was shocking to see an employee make up a story in his head about a customer's cognitive abilities rather than simply communicating with her respectfully. We were greeted with an incredibly rude and condescending attitude. I have been to the UK at least 30 times, and nothing about the service or atmosphere here felt remotely British. I love this place!!! It's a British restaurant with all the dishes you could want from classic British dishes with a small market on the other end with a case of pies and pastries. I decided to try The British Pantry for Fish and Chips. I was greeted so warmly and welcomely by Jackie the hostess. Which immediately put me at ease and I felt like I was one of her regulars. Thanks Jackie. The ordering process was easy and quick, Jackie even went above and made a fresh pot of coffee when I had ordered. My fish and chips arrived and I was delighted with how my plate appeared. I also received a full bottle of ketchup and malt vinegar and they were so clean to the eye, I was so pleasantly surprised and it was such a nice touch. The beer battered fish was fresh and juicy on the interior with a golden crispy exterior. The fries were thick, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the interior. I'm pretty sure I did a wiggle dance upon trying the food. I loved the tartar sauce with its hint of sweetness with the tang. This was a 10/10 for me, the service, food and ambiance were great! Meandering through Redmond, we stumbled through a portal that transported us to Merry Old England where a lovely lass brought Fish & Chips and a Royal Tea to our table. The fish and chips were top notch - crispy but not greasy, sizable filets of dense white fish, perfectly cooked and a large serving of thick cut chips. The Royal Tea came with cucumber sandwiches, a crumpet and fruit with a little cake and house tea. Remember to stick out your pinky! And when you're done, stop by the store next door and get a few treats to go before you step back into the colonies (Malteasers for me!). We were there for an early Mother's Day celebration. We all ordered afternoon tea. The price was good and the lemon and orange black tea was fabulous. We also had an order of fish and chip. I went to visit The British Pantry today with a friend, and I enjoyed it. The service was great and the staff were nice. I liked the British and antique, yet classical vibe of the restaurant. It was very quaint and peaceful. The food was good. However, I gave four stars because I wish they had more vegetarian options. Their vegetarian options were little to none. They should totally consider getting some vegetarian meat substitutes or adding vegetarian options. There are a lot of vegetarians in this area, and especially on the east side, where they are located. I had the crumpets with butter and jam, scrambled eggs, and fried potatoes. It was a delicious dish. It tasted very authentic and was full of great flavors! They also have a cute shop next to the restaurant, and a bar next door to that. They are all owned by the same owners. Overall, I would recommend The British Pantry. However, if you are vegetarian, please know that your options are very limited and you will have to get creative and remove meat, and add on sides, etc. read more

Ordered the fish and chips (onion rings in place of chips) which was done well as were the onion rings, liked both, served with tarter sauce, a quarter of a tomato and a spinach leaf. We ordered Eggs Benedict. Unfortunately, the hollandaise sauce tasted as if it had turned bad. The next order of the full English breakfast was lacking. The the bacon was way over cooked and a bitter taste. . The beans offered were good. Would have preferred a choice of toast, as none was offered. Overall, a letdown on the quality of food. Visited the shop next door and purchased some English items. Also visited the pub connected to the store. An amazing idea for a genuine English experience. I stop by here whenever I am in Redmond. There is a restaurant on one side and a cute little shop on the other. My favorite thing to order is the sausage roll. I will get it every single time. I actually get 4-6 so that I can take them home and heat them up to eat for the next few days. I love them! I also love looking at all the desserts in the cases. I have tried quite a few and none of them have disappointed. It is also fun to browse around the shop for little nicknacks or snacks to take home. We went there for breakfast after discovering this little gem. It seems to offer authentic British breakfast options because many dishes has beans in it. We had big British breakfast with has two sausages that tasted quite different from the other sausages we've had. These sausages seemed to have more starch in them. And of course you cannot miss those beans in your typical British breakfast and we absolutely loved those beans. Overall I say this is a nice restaurant. We will definitely come back to try their afternoon tea. I hate giving one star reviews but this place deserves it. Their food (pastries etc) in the case is reliably stale, old and not so tasty. Service is subpar. They do not have a return policy even if you purchase something expired (or moldy, which happened to me). We visited the British Pantry as we wanted to have a taste of home having moved from the UK a year ago. We purchased some items from the shop first (prices are high but to be expected as imported goods although some of the cheese was made in the USA when I checked the label). The pork pies that we had when we got home were tasty (not to be compared with Melton Mowbray but good enough). However when we went to eat in the restaurant I was very disappointed. The scone was flat as a pancake - it had clearly not been cut using a proper cutter, was cut far too thin or the recipe was wrong. Scones are supposed to be fluffy and big, this was not. The cream was from a can (or looked and tasted like it was anyway) not proper thick cream and the jam was ok but did not taste of anything other than sugar. Tea was Yorkshire Gold and a proper brew but the other items we had were alright. The server had no idea that a tea cake can be offered toasted and just said it comes uncut and as is. I will be back for the pork pies but please work on the scones as the one I had was sad and not a proper scone. read more

We've been here twice and the first time we just went to the shop attached. Tonight we officially ate dinner here. The tea was lovely and the food was alright. They weren't busy at all and the waiter working was very friendly and personable. The fish and chips wasn't consistently crispy which was a bummer and the salad had too much dressing. The bread pudding was pretty good as well. I ordered the English tart but they ran out and I was able to pick something from the shop case instead. Even if the dinner was just okay it was redeemed by the delicious shortbread (not pictured) from the shop. So simple and not too crumbly. I was happy they gave me an alternative dessert, again solid service. I hope to go back to try their high tea. read more

Called a couple weeks before my date to find out if they were still serving their high tea options and was informed that they were in the morning and that they weren't taking reservations. Showed up around 11:20 am and were seated relatively quickly - gave us the option of indoor/outdoor and we responded with wherever would be easiest for them. Had we known there were tvs and loud rugby enthusiasts outside, we would've chosen inside especially since we couldn't see the TV's where we were seated, lol. After trying to order order high tea, we were told it was only offered after 2:30 pm... She went with Earl Grey tea with Eggs Benedict and I went with Blackcurrant tea with Lancaster Pasty. As we were still catching up, we asked to see a dessert menu and lo and behold, High Tea was listed for the morning and afternoon. We split an order of the Apple & Berry Tart which came with a generous portion of vanilla bean ice cream. After lunch, we browsed through the gift shop, which has been rearranged and is much neater and inviting than previously. I bought a couple of meat pies from their refrigerator to take home. We've been here before and will definitely visit again. Hopefully we'll get to try their High Tea experience some time (fingers crossed). read more

In April, I was supposed to visit family in London for my birthday. Obviously, that didn't happen due to the current situation. As such, I was lucky to find this substitute on the Eastside. I didn't take part in the restaurant portion of the establishment so this will focus on the items they were selling. I was truly happy with tea offerings that had in stock. While you might be able to find 1-2 brands in other grocery stores (Twinnings) you probably wouldn't get as much of a range in flavors (lapsang souchong comes to mind). But the store had others brands as well as accessories for your tea experience (so many diffusers). I did notice others items such as the chips (Taytos/Walkers) that you would notice in a Tesco. So many choices including so many jams that would be great for crumpets. They even offered multiple brands of egg cups. Next time I visit I will ask if they offer the meal on their menu. They had Cadbury and other candies as well. They offered many pastries and desserts near the line. In terms of COVID-19 preparations, they do require masks and they marked places on the ground for people to stand while waiting on line. Love coming here for tea. The food is delicious and there's a good selection of black and herbal teas. The tea menu gives us just the right amount of food; scrumptious cucumber sandwiches, yummy fruit, a crumpet, a tea cake, and we always add a sausage roll because we love them. The store is the best! So many varieties of tea and goodies. The Lancashire pasties are our favorite. We also love the proper British chips ... crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The only issue we've encountered was a rude server. When you come in, it's not at all clear what's what. It's a lobby-type room with no greeter, so we had no idea how to have a sit-down tea because there was no one around. No one in the store or the restaurant. When I went in search of someone, a server said rudely, "Can I HELP you?!?" I said we're here for afternoon tea and she said rudely to go back outside the gate "while we clean and set up a table." There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and numerous tables were clean and ready and set up. To the staff: we don't know what we don't know. Don't be rude. Especially when it is not at all clear how to dine in the restaurant AND there was nobody around to help us. We waited awhile before going in search of someone. read more

Fantastic service and pretty good food! After a night out of drinking, my boyfriend wanted to go out for breakfast to help with his hangover. He's from the UK, so I wanted to find an authentic British breakfast spot for us to try out. They open at 10 AM, so we were the first/only ones there. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly server. Her name was Paula, and she was the sweetest woman ever. She asked if we had a preference on where we wanted to be seated, to which we said anywhere was fine. After seating us in a lovely, well-lit corner, she asked if we wanted any tea to start. I can't remember the tea my boyfriend got, but it was pretty good! As we looked over the menu, she checked in to make sure we were doing okay, which I really appreciated. My boyfriend was trying to take a picture of me, but he said, "Awh. The lighting is pretty bad." Paula overheard what he had said, and after taking our order, she shut the blinds behind me, which helped balance out the light issue on the camera. The food was delicious! I had the breakfast sandwich, and the potatoes it came with were perfect! It was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Definitely way better than having American hash browns for breakfast. The sandwich was pretty good as well. I'm more of a sausage rather than ham type of person, so that's why I didn't love it as much as I could've. My boyfriend had the English breakfast. He said it was excellent and came close to what it's usually like in the UK.
