Went there around 6pm on a weekday and sat at the bar. There were a handful of regulars around and waitress completely ignored me. I joked around with the guy beside me but got annoyed after a while and just left. There's a better place down the street. read more

Big Block Brewing I feel has really made improvements with their beer recipes, beer options and beer creativity. I was at their Lake Sammamish taproom several years ago and recall that I wasn't as impressed then as I am now. Perhaps the brewery just needed to be around a while before it blossomed. This does indeed happen with breweries sometimes. The Redmond location is their second so they do indeed seem to be doing well. I got and immensely enjoyed their Honey Pale Ale. With honey flavor being the main characteristic it also blends together nicely with sweetness and bitterness making a very impressive pale ale. I do love a well made honey beer and this is one! Steve got more of an unusual beer, the Monohan. This was a corn based beer with a nice dryness and smoothness to it. I have had corn beers before and really like them but they are fairly rare to find so definitely try one if you are an experimentally oriented beer geek. Very happy and impressed to see that Big Block has come so far which definitely motivates me to return. read more

Wow. Big Block Brewing has only been open in this location since August, and they are already a top 3 brewery on the Eastside (in my book, which has tried most of them). You MUST visit here if you are a fan of the craft side of craft beer. It's the same location as the old Hi-Fi Brewing that went out of business in January. I was lucky enough to be here when the owner was, so I got some of the background to go along with my drink. He's been brewing for 30 years, and been brewing as a licensed brewer in his 3 car garage for 5ish years. He never wanted to open a business, but his home garage because a local hub for beer, and his neighbors eventually convinced him to go in to business. He seems to be doing everything the right way - brewing because he LOVES it, and staying conservative with the size of his equipment, never compromising on quality. Everything here is fresh, and you can taste it. I started off with the Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale. It was smooooth. And good. Really, really good. I then tried samples of the Raspberry blonde, Special Bitter, and Double Red (silky, frothy, delicious). There is something here for everyone (See picture of tap board). Due to licensing, you won't be able to get a growler fill just yet, he's looking to have his brewing equipment up by the end of the year - once it becomes a full "brewery" instead of just a "taproom", growler fills will be available. Based on the quality and taste, I have my new favorite brewery, and it's only just begun. read more

I stopped by on my bike to meet my wife and dog for dinner and to sample the beers. U fortunately, they don't allow dogs, even in the outside seating area. They claim it's a King County ordinance even though they don't serve food. I'm not sure if that's the case but in any event we had toeave as our doggie doesn't do well being left alone in the car. Too bad as I always really looking forward to sampling the beers and the food truck looked good too. I'll definitely plan on stopping back sans pooch. This looks to be a great place. read more

This brewery location has become quite popular for having been open a relatively short amount of time. They have a spot in Issaquah/Sammamish as well, though I've never been to that location. The front room of this location is not huge, but they do have a decently sized private room to the side that can be reserved. There is a bit of seating outside, but I'd say it's more along the lines of "a couple tables near the entrance" than a "patio". As for beers they have a list of 5-10ish standards and then 5 or so more rotators. read more

Great brewery! I have been to their other location in Sammamish and the beer here is just as good as their original location. I also liked what they did to the space. They definitely tried to make it look similar to their other location and it looks great! A much better and more unique use of the space then the previous occupants. I like the milk stout and a I had the sour cherry. Both were good. I would recommend a stop by! read more

I really like this new location for Big Block Brewing! It is warm and inviting and the staff is super friendly. Although there is no kitchen on site, you will find a variety of food trucks providing yummy food to eat while drinking the great beer. Beer selections are good from dark to light and everything in between. During the nice months, the doors open to outside and there is a standing area that you can drink in and catch some sun. This should be a must stop on your beer crawl thru the eastside. read more

Just really good beer. Finally a place in WA to get great barrel age rotating taps. But seriously, great owners, great staff, can easily try 10 beers off the menu and love every one. Servers are truly knowledgable about the goods, and a great place to sit and enjoy an afternoon. Get in and try this up and coming businesses! read more

This place used to be Hi-Fi Brewing and the new occupants are a lateral move from the old place. Granted it is a taproom and not a brewery yet since they weren't brewing any beer on site. Service was friendly. Beer was average to good for the area. There were no prices anywhere which is a major negative at a place where you order at the counter. Do they fill growlers? I cant figure that out. Prices were definitely high. I got a taster flight of five 5 oz beers, mostly their standard beers and the total was more than $14. At least the tasting room no longer has the IKEA cafeteria vibe. read more

Opening day and I am super impressed. Tried 10 of the beers and enjoyed every one. The cherry sour, an award winner, was delicious. Not too tart or fruity, but full flavor and good drinking. The Scotch ale was phenomenal, one of the best I have had in a long time. Their raspberry ale, a best seller, was very fruit forward and easy drinking. The kolsch was one of my faves as well. Last honorable mention would have to be the porter: as good as the best cup of coffee I've ever had. This place is brand new in Redmond, but coming from Sammamish, they know what they're doing!! Check it out and enjoy the many tasty beers. Can't wait to visit the family again to come back and try whatever else they have brewing. read more
