Mochi Flight - Mango, Green Tea & Strawberry
Amanda M.

A friend invited me here to share with me this hidden late night sushi spot in Kirkland. We stopped in and the service was slow as molasses. We finally ordered our usual whole table of food to try and wished the staff was a bit more attentive with us needing more ginger, utensils, water & additional food order items. The ambiance is still very much dive bar inside but with a sushi menu. The sushi was all very delicious and the mochi for dessert hit the spot. I'll be back in hopes that the wait for late night sushi isn't too long.

Just for my experience having a beer at the bar: this is a great spot! We were waiting for dinner at Cafe 79 and decided to stop by for a beer. I was thrilled to see they had one of my favorite beers on draft (Duchesse de Bourgogne, a lovely Belgian sour) and my partner had a local Gingerbread stout. Service was quick and nice and the atmosphere was cozy for a brewery. Noticed they serve sushi and it looked pretty good honestly. Will have to stop by again to try the food!

My partner and I dropped in to try Thirsty Hop on Saturday right at opening. Parking was easy to find and the service was very friendly and prompt! The interior is cozy and there's board games if you want to come grab a beer and chill. They offer a decent variety of local craft beers and some sake and wine too. We ordered the Matryoshka imperial stouts which were amazing! If you love stouts you'll probably like this. Not too sweet, smooth mouthfeel, and easy to drink. For food we had the God Father roll, Salmon Skin roll, Amazing roll, Happiness roll, and Mountain roll. Each roll was delicious! If you're looking for savory rolls: definitely the Happiness and God Father rolls. If you want something light, slightly sweet, and refreshing: Mountain roll! The Awesome roll and Salmon Skin rolls are classic flavors and taste great too.

Our friends suggested meeting up at The Thirsty Hop, and though a hop shop with sushi seemed like a strange mix, it turned out to be a great combination! As you walk in, the cozy vibe is immediately inviting, especially on a cold, rainy day with an inviting fireplace to sit next to. They even have games to play! The beer selection was decent with plenty of choices, and the sushi was surprisingly delicious! We ordered quite a bit, with the Hawaiian tuna being a standout favorite--we liked it so much, we ordered it twice. We also tried a variety of other dishes, including wings, gyoza, and rolls, and everything was excellent. The staff were friendly and had a great sense of humor, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere. As we left, the place was getting busy. We wish them the best of luck and hope they continue to stay busy!

Great beer and fantastic sushi. What a unique combination! I had the pilsner, dragon roll, and the crispy rice with spicy tuna. The crispy rice roll is very unique and definitely a standout. The servers were very nice and the orders came out quickly. Highly recommend this place!

What great find. I happened upon this great spot by chance. Popped in out of curiosity. So glad I did! They have an extensive on tap selection of local and regional brew and wine. What I found surprising was the menu. Both Korean and Japanese fare are offered. I ordered the CA roll (wasn't planning on eating but felt like a snack). Have to say, the best I've ever had! It was delicate in its presentation but offered multi levels of texture and taste. They use a cucumber that is a bit sweet and less watery than what I am accustomed to. Can't wait to return and try something else. Great place for an intimate date. Cozy (there is a fireplace), unpretentious, delicious food, with a hospitable staff. Yum!

I was late night scrolling on Uber Eats and I noticed a restaurant named Sushi I on the app which was my favorite sushi spot in Ballard. The sushi and roll names were also the same as the spot in Ballard, which closed unfortunately. So the next day I order pick up from the restaurant and the address is Thirsty Hop. I ask if this sushi restaurant is the same owners as Sushi I that closed and they said yes! I am so thrilled because the sushi tastes the same but it's minutes from my work. I was so sad when Sushi I closed but am so happy I stumbled across the new restaurant. They have a full Japanese menu as well as lots of beers on tap. Their spicy tuna is my favorite in the world and I could never find one that compared. I will be here regularly for a weekly lunch. I hope to bring my co workers for some after work happy hours. Thirsty Hop has delicious and fresh sushi that is reasonably priced. The service is fast and friendly and they seem to have some regulars from the neighborhood. A great spot for a casual meal.

My favorite dishes are the PHAD SEE EIW with chicken ($16.25) and the THAI GRILLED BEEF SALAD (cooked medium) ($20.50). The PHAD SEE EIW has the perfect sauce balance of sweet and savory flavors and comes with broccoli and carrot. The noodles are super long and wide so you know they are fresh and not from the box. The THAI GRILLED BEEF SALAD definitely has a kick to it. This dish comes with raw cucumbers, carrots, onions, and basil and is served in a tangy and umami fish sauce vinegar mix. The beef is extremely tasty, tender, and well-marinated. This past visit, my friends and I also tried two new dishes that I've never had at Isarn before- their CHIANG MAI NOODLES (aka Khao Soi) ($17.25) and the MINCED LAMB WITH THAI BASIL ($16.50). The CHIANG MAI NOODLES were beautifully presented with a nest of crunchy egg noodles on top of a creamy yellow curry with soft egg noodles underneath. It was served with pickled mustard cabbage and onions for extra punch of flavor. The MINCED LAMB WITH THAI BASIL reminded me of Vietnamese larb. However, this dish was more savory and less tangy than larb and the basil really shined through. It is quite oily though so make sure to enjoy it with a side of JASMINE RICE ($2.75). Portions are generous for all dishes and I always leave with leftovers. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and trendy. It's a great place for catching up with friends and not too loud. I will say the restaurant is a bit on the darker side, but that's just how they set the ambiance. Service was good and we got our food promptly within 15-20 minutes after ordering. It took a bit of time to waive the waiter down for to-go boxes, but they were attentive otherwise. Note that Isarn doesn't take reservations and it's street parking only. However, they have a waiting list kiosk inside the restaurant and so if they're busy, you can sign up for notifications and walk around the downtown Kirkland shops while you're waiting. Overall: 5/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

Went on a Friday night with a group of 5 and waited about an hour before getting seated. Unfortunately, you can't join the waitlist ahead of time and when your table is ready, you gotta be RIGHT THERE as we literally walked in 30 seconds after they called us and didn't leave a message, but the staff informed us that they had given our table away. Luckily, we just got the next one available, but felt like a needlessly stressful experience. Jumbo Firecracker Prawns (4.25/5): Spring rolls and shrimp had a baby. Crunchy outside with tender shrimp and sweet chili sauce - a perfect appetizer to share. Isarn Fried Rice (4.25/5): A fried rice unlike any other. Was my personal favorite dish of the night. The rice kernels were separated into individual grains and coated in grease in the best way possible. I'm a kale hater, but the combination with salted eggs and the purposefully chewy fried steak pieces was just super delicious! Northern Style Sweet Curry (3.75/5): The curry itself is fantastic: super balanced between savory, fragrant, and sweet. The steak chunks unfortunately were just a bit overcooked and chewy. Durian Sticky Rice (4.25/5): Sticky rice has a super satisfying chew and I appreciated that the sauce wasn't overly sweet. Durian itself was sweet and creamy with just a touch funk. If you've never had durian before, this is a fantastic intro.

We are used to mediocore foods at places like this; and to find the foods to be so delicious was very pleasant surprise. Service was great; we got seated right away and taken care of. We sat outside since it was a nice day and we had our pup with us. Plenty of seating inside and outside. And its right by the lake; (sunset was on point when we went) What we got: Fried kalamari (4.5/5) *not pictured Very creative! Its more of a fried calamari salad; served in a chinese style to go box; i think we found it cool. The calamari was nicely fried; and the breading has sesame seed powder? I think it was delicious! And pair it with the bitter leaves; and some kind of soy dressing. Fried smashed potato (5/5) Delicious! Love some good smashed and deep fried potatoes; and nicely pair with the morney sauce. 1/2 crab fried (5/5) This is sooooo good. It was nicely fried, plated and taste delicious with the aioli and fried basil and everything else that came with it. We also got a couple drinks that were pretty good (not picture) Lots of option when it comes to the drinks Overall it was a good choice to stop by here.
