Wow this place exceeded my expectations! Much better than I thought! What a hidden gem, service was amazing, every dish I tried was stellar. My favorite was the main entree which was the burger but everything was so good! The bread pudding was just okayI highly recommended and would come back!

It felt lively without being too loud, and the staff was welcoming from the moment we walked in. The food was the highlight of the night. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, but more importantly, everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. You can tell they focus on quality ingredients instead of overcomplicating the menu. The flavors were bold without being overwhelming, and each plate felt like it was made with care. Service was just as impressive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and checked on us throughout the meal without making us feel rushed. The timing between courses was perfect, which made the entire dining experience feel smooth and enjoyable. What I appreciated most was how everything came together--the atmosphere, the food, and the service all complemented each other. It's the kind of restaurant that's great for a date night, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying a quality meal with family or friends. Woodblock is the type of place that reminds you why dining out can be such a great experience. I'll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu, and it's an easy recommendation for anyone looking for one of the best restaurants on the Eastside.

Any percentage they charge will get deducted from tipping and discourage us from coming again. 2. They no longer validate parking in the garage behind it since several years ago. Street parking is limited and painful sometimes. 3. They exited Resy network a few years ago - that was one of the reasons we kept coming. 4. The food is still good but the quality is declining. The "+add brisket" option which costs $10 on top of the Mac and Cheese was the driest I've had in many years. They also removed menu items like duck chicken liver mouse which were really good.

Most of the time I'm dining solo, and this place just has a great vibe. The music is always on point, the artwork and decor throughout the restaurant are awesome, and it's one of those places where you can relax, enjoy a good meal, and feel comfortable whether you're by yourself or with a group. Daniel (I believe that was his name) was outstanding. He made sure I was taken care of the entire time, stayed on top of drinks, and checked in just enough without ever being overbearing. Great service like that doesn't go unnoticed. As for the food, I always order the Carne Asada (steak) Burrito and have them add guacamole inside. It's become my go-to and has never disappointed. Great food, great atmosphere, great people. Matador has become a regular stop for me whenever I'm in town, and I look forward to coming back every chance I get.

Why was everything out of balance/dried out/over cooked (which was even visible)? This restaurant lacks consistency and quality check. We initially sat outside, but the staff let us know that happy hour is only available inside. It was a little different than expected since the weather was nice, but no big deal. We moved inside and got settled with the happy hour menu. Our waiter was excellent throughout the entire visit. He was attentive, checked in on us often, and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered some drinks and started trying different dishes. We got the calamari, oysters, paella, and crab cakes, and everything was really delicious. The calamari had a nice presentation and came with a sweet and sour sauce. My only small note was that there seemed to be more vegetables than calamari, but the flavor was still great. The oysters were packed with buttery garlic flavor, which was amazing. The paella was simple but incredibly tasty, and the clam was cooked perfectly. The crab cakes had a great crunch and came with a white sauce underneath that tied the whole dish together. Overall, RockCreek's happy hour was definitely worth checking out. Tables and booths are laid out in a way that gives patrons both privacy and a wonderful space to have conversations. The tableware is immaculate and thoughtfully picked out. Our server, Brandonlee A was truly a star! He was very friendly and has the entire menu memorized right down to the specific ingredients used in EVERY single dish- yes, even the side dishes! He's a big reason that we had such a wonderful first experience at Noii and I sincerely hope Management takes notice and promotes this guy to become a manager because he clearly is so passionate about his job, cares about the customers he serves and so knowledgeable about the food! That's something very refreshing to see in the service industry. The lunch bento set was wonderful - the sushi upgrade was definitely worth it too IMO, because I'm a huge aburi toro fan. Everything from the beef croquette to the salad with crispy fish skin and ikura was delicious. The food presentation/plating was 10/10 and it was a feast for the eyes too. Even the grilled chicken rice bowl with the onsen egg was so yummy. We also loved the yuzu mixed drinks as well. The birthday dessert with a yuzu jelly topped with meringue and edible flowers added the perfect finishing touch to our meal. The ambience, food and service were all a home run for me. That says a lot because VERY few restaurants are able to achieve the perfect trifecta of all 3. Hopefully they will keep these high standards up! This is now one of our favorite restaurants in Kirkland and we've already told all our friends to come check it out.
