Szechuan Crispy Chicken, Beef Broccoli, BBQ Pork Fried Rice.

Recommended dishes: Szechuan Crispy Chicken (like General's but way better!), Mapo Tofu with Pork, Hot/Sour Soup, Honey Walnut Prawns, but you can't go wrong with anything here! This is, hands-down, my favorite American-Chinese food spot of all time. I haven't had a single thing on the menu that I haven't liked. All of the entrees are made fresh to order, and it's fairly obvious! I've never seen a grey or mushy obviously-reheated vegetable in anything I've ordered - lots of great flavors and textures. All of the fried foods are crispy and delicious (When eating in, of course YMMV when ordering fried food for takeout) My husband and I found EG on a whim after our previous favorite Chinese restaurant in Redmond changed ownership and went downhill. We were a bit confused when we arrived and saw that the place is a bar - reminded me of walking into an American Legion or VFW especially since there's a lot of retired folks that seem to just always be there. But we decided to tough it out and at least try it once and ordered some General Tso's and Broccoli Beef. Fifteen minutes later out comes these steaming hot plates of the best General Tso's Chicken and Broccoli Beef we'd ever had in our lives! We've been hooked ever since. Pro-tip, get the Szechuan Crispy Chicken if you like General Tso's - very similar flavor, but with added Szechuan spice. This is absolutely a dive bar - make no mistake. This is not somewhere you go for the latest craft beers or locally made wine and spirits. The drinks are affordable and STIFF. If you order a gin and tonic you're getting a glass of gin with a splash of tonic! Personally I love that vibe, but apparently that's a dealbreaker for a lot of folks. If it's that big of a deal, they do offer takeout! Unfortunately, as much as I love this place I do have to knock a star off - as others have pointed out, folks do hang out right outside the door and chain-smoke, which chokes up the dining room when they leave the door open (which is often). Really wish they would either encourage people to move away from the door - Which they're required by law to do anyway! - or make more of a point to keep the front door closed. Another thing to keep in mind is the kitchen's hours aren't super strict. They say dinner service starts at 5 but there's only ever one person running the kitchen and if they're running late then you might be waiting awhile.

This is the one of these best kept secrets in Kirkland. The emerald garden restaurant and lounge. We happened upon this restaurant because it was by our bus stop and the sign emerald green inviting us to come in offering cocktails. When we walked in it was filled with the local customers but we were soon made to feel right at home. I ordered a margarita which is fantastic but potent so watch out. We ordered the hot and sour soup and the Kung Pao beef along with egg rolls. The owner and chef herself comes to serve the food. This is the best Chinese food hands down in all of the Seattle area that we have yet to experience. The atmosphere is divey and fun. The service is always great. Come on down and experience this for yourself.

Not very busy when I went at happy hour/dinner time on a Friday night, but the place is busier later at night on Friday/Saturday during the warmer months. Sometimes they have events and DJs. Sat at the bar and tried out some happy hour specials. Got the Korean sauce wings ($12) and cheese truffle fries ($8). Decent amount of fries, definitely has cheese flavor but not that much truffle oil aroma. I liked the wings which you get 6 per order. They weren't fried, but rather tender and juicy. Sauce was agreeable. Definitely enough food for my dinner. As for the drinks, I got the rosemary mule which is Moscow mule with some rosemary herb. The copper mug they use is good sized. Tasted refreshing although could feel the alcohol afterwards. Also tried a corpse reviver no. 2, which was a little sweet but has a punch. Cocktail prices are not cheap outside of happy hour, in the upper teens. Overall, was glad I tried the place out. Will drop by for happy hour once in a while.

It was a lovely sunny day so it was nice being outside - they do have large umbrellas but it doesn't cover the whole group so it can get a bit hot in direct sun. We didn't realize it, but we accidentally came during restaurant week (although we were supposed to have brunch). Since they only had 3 things on their brunch menu, we opted for the restaurant week menu. We tried the shishito peppers, poutine, tomato soup, burger, spaghetti, lemon tart, and a pate choux. A 3 course was $35 which is reasonable (portions were pretty small so easy to finish). The highlight were the tempura shishito peppers; the aioli that came with the peppers was delicious and the peppers themselves were hot and crispy. The poutine appetizers was unfortunately disappointing (very meaty, actually no curds at all and large soggy potatoes). The entrees took awhile to come out which wasn't a problem since we were just socializing. The burger was decent; it came with a goat cheese and the soup was good. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the pasta; portion was very small and it was very very salty (and had capers on top which did not help). We ended up getting our desserts to go since our group was heading to the wineries and tried them later. We did enjoy the dessert. The lemon tart portion was very small but tasty and the pate choux was also good too, so I would recommend the desserts here. I think this place is great for large groups and had a pleasant experience overall, but the rating is for the food alone which I was unfortunately pretty disappointed in.

Also, a special shoutout to the bartenders--they were awesome! Very nice, good service, and made fire drinks. The seating options are great too. Another plus is that Woodinville Whiskey Distillary is 25ft away as they share the same parking lot. We don't frequent Hollywood Tavern as it was our first time, but it was just too easy to drop by for a snack before stopping by the distillary. Found a table in the bar area that was just right with beautiful view of the whiskey bottles lining the window. We got prompt attention and reviewed the menu for the snack. I was about to get fish and chips but was steered toward the Cubano pork sandwich with french fries. My wife got a caesar salad with romaine instead of kale and we decided to try the fried pickles too. No drinks other than water as we had plans afterward. The positives is the location, the atmosphere and they had all the pub fare you would expect. The only thing that dampened the pleasure was everything the fries, the sandwich, the salad, and even the sauces tastes quite salty to me. My wife mentioned to me seeing red edges on the romaine in her salad typically meaning not as fresh as it should have been. Definitely a nice place for beer drinking in the bar or outside on the patio during these springtime days. Not sure of the root cause of the over seasoning, but I'll ask for lighter next time.
