    Snacks from World Market
    Eva M.

I've been shopping at Cost Plus since I was an early teenager in San Francisco. Back then, my treats were buying a very small amount of Swedish Fish candy and and a bag of their house branded rice crackers. Many, many years later, I am still drawn to Cost Plus World Market for their snacks and treats, especially ones that I learned of from my travels, I'm talking about you - Tim Tam Cookies from Australia. There is always something new to discover. After many months away due to COVID shutdowns, this time I found chocolate kettle corns at half off and dried hibiscus florals, similar to a dry fruit snack; the latter I used to buy from the Denver airport during transit. That was a happy find! CPWM is also the primary source for my favorite cracker from the UK - Jacob's Cream Cracker. Alas, it wasn't at the store during this visit. Other than food department, I also enjoy their lotions and soaps area and their kitchen department. My favorite dish washing gloves are from this store! During the holiday season, I buy wines at 6+ bottles from here. They make great gifts. This store in the Crossroads Mall area is the newer though smaller Bellevue location, replacing the one that was next to the Bellevue Square mall.

Cost Plus World Market is a store you go to for either very specific type of item you can't get anywhere else, or for knick-knacks and clutter. Where Cost Plus really shines is it's variety in food and wine. You'll see foods you haven't seen since you were a child (Mint Aero Bars!), have a huge selection of all different types of licorice, and see flavors of Doritos you didn't know existed. You can find foods from all different cultures and locales. The wine and beer sections are a refreshing change from the grocery store. You'll find new types of brands to try and and unique flavors you wouldn't have thought of. The store itself is kind of maze-like, they make you walk through all of the knick-knacks to get to the food and wine. I imagine that is where all of their mark-up happens, because the foods are reasonably priced. I recommend you take a stroll through the store and take note of the type of stuff they have; and if you ever get that craving for a special candy, you know where to go!

The cutest stuff! I highly recommend checking this store out. Great home items and food/drinks. Staff was super friendly. Something for everyone!

The sheer volume of items on the floor and shelves makes this place a bit overwhelming, and I couldn't find any organization as far as their books go so if you love a long riffling through heaps of stuff then this is your place, but if you like more of an organized and accessible experience this is definitely a place I would skip. The prices range from a couple dollars, to $7.99 for most clothing, and up depending on the item. I'd say they're asking higher end for things, similar to a current Goodwill. I don't have direct experience with the service as neither me nor my companion purchased anything, but the clerks behind the checkout counter were talking amongst themselves as several people looked at the accessories in the area. I don't see myself going out of my way to come back here, unfortunately.

I used to come down here often but now it takes 20 minutes to get there instead of five in the old days. The window display grabbed my attention because it had a lot of cute new jellycats. No "hello," no acknowledgment nothing. Almost immediately after, another white customer came in and she greeted her and began helping her right away. The difference in treatment was very noticeable. Throughout the time we were in the store, she kept looking at me in a strange and uncomfortable way. It felt like we were being judged rather than welcomed as paying customers. There was no effort to assist us, check on us, or make us feel comfortable in the space. Customer service should be equal and respectful to everyone who walks through the door. Instead, I left feeling ignored and singled out. I don't take accusations like this lightly, but the experience genuinely felt discriminatory. I hope management takes this seriously and evaluates how customers are being treated. No one should feel unwelcome in a business because of how they look.

UPDATE 12/16/2024:…read more This is an update partly to say that Paula's Hallmark Shop at Crossroads Shopping Center, is now Trudy's Hallmark Shop, since my original review in 2019. And also to say that they now accept MobilePay (ApplePay, and GooglePay). Today a friend of mine and I stopped into the store to get some funny Christmas cards. He complained about the high prices of their Hallmark cards. Me, I bought a 5 x 7 comical Christmas card today (see pic) which was $3.85 after tax. This is a little pricey, but their selection is supposed to be much better than at most stores. Though today, I did not notice their selection being as good as I would hope. Perhaps a lot of people have already bought Christmas cards here this year. Nevertheless, my friend and I have found suitable cards today, Merry Christmas, and a happy new year!

I should go check it out for my friend who is obsessed with Hallmark movies!" And there I was off to, at a Hallmark store after many years at Crossroads Mall. Trudy's Hallmark Shop is a typical Hallmark store. It has all the knickknacks that you'd expect at a Hallmark, with many themed gift items, Hallmark greeting cards, house accessories, frames, baby's first album, you name it. I visited this store when I was out Christmas shopping and immediately thought to come here when I wanted to get a gift for my friend who loves Hallmark movies. It was perfect because at Trudy's Hallmark Shop, they had an entire section of Hallmark-themed gifts! Now that I think of it, I am not sure where else Hallmark is in Bellevue, but am glad to know that there's one here at Crossroads. Staff was friendly and helped me find a gift for my friend, and dogs are welcomed! Now that I've been reacquainted with Hallmark, I'll be sure to come here for my Hallmark-loving friend's birthday and for other gift items.

I bought one of their bunk beds (from Costco as I recall) over 16 years ago, and have moved, disassembled, and re-assembled it many times since. The design is smart and sturdy, and it is simple and fast to disassemble and re-assemble, even simpler than smaller items like chairs and coffee tables I have purchased from competitors. During my last move, the movers lost some of the hardware for the bed. I called these guys up (16 years later, mind you), and they knew exactly what bed I had and sent me the missing hardware via first class mail to my home in California so I could get back to reassembling the bed and settling in to my new house! Compare this to the experience folks are used to these days with fly-by-night online sellers who may not be in existence a few months later, much less answering the phones and supporting their products after nearly two decades. This level of stability and integrity is how business was done in the old days, and this experience has not only drawn me back to Epoch's product line, but encouraged me to think critically about where I source my other products. Purchase your furniture from these guys. Their quality and service are both top notch.

This is definitely more of a furniture and home improvement focused store than the type of thrift store I usually gravitate toward. There were lots of larger furniture pieces, unique home decor, artwork, tools, paint, and more. I could see this being a really fun place if you're remodeling a room, furnishing a new space, or tackling a DIY project since you could easily pick up both the supplies and some one of a kind pieces in one stop. One thing that stood out was the artwork. There were some really fun and unique pieces hanging throughout the store that made browsing enjoyable. The biggest downside for me was the pricing. Some items felt reasonably priced, but quite a few of the larger furniture pieces seemed expensive enough that I found myself thinking you could buy something new for a similar price. Of course, that's going to depend on what you're looking for and whether you fall in love with a particular piece. The staff was incredibly friendly, though, and that definitely made a positive impression. There were signs throughout the store encouraging shoppers to ask for help reaching artwork or items on higher shelves, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to assist. Overall, it wasn't quite my style of thrift shopping, so I probably wouldn't make a special trip back. That said, if you're hunting for furniture, tools, or unique home pieces, it's absolutely worth stopping in to see what you might find!
