My initial review was based on when it was located in Downtown Bellevue across from Bellevue and still know as Cost Plus. Since then, it has moved to Crossroads into the former Barnes & Noble space across from QFC and has updated its official name to World Market. The first impressions of the store mentioned before still are valid. It has a great selection of home decor, kitchen supplies and specialty food items. Particularly international foods that are hard to find elsewhere. The location itself is a lot more convenient as it is closer to my home than the other location, which is a huge plus. However, I knocked a star as it can be hard to determine the current stock of products at the store when checking online. I have made numerous online purchases on the website for store pickup as they offer a discount for this option. However, I have experienced many instances when a product I ordered was unavailable even though the website said it was. Particularly on items where the stock shows that there are a few left. If you order online, just be aware that the store may not have it available, especially if the website says they are close to selling out. read more

- horrible pickup process - I placed an online order, and it was ready to be picked up after 3 hours. Yup, it takes them 3 hours to fill my order with two items, and one of them is out of stock but they didn't update it on my pickup notification. I went in, waited in line for it. Then when it was my turn, the cashier was gonna help me out but someone else came to line up, so she told me she has to help her first. So I had to wait for her to finish the order first before she could fetch my stuff in the back. When that was done, she went to the back and brought me one of them items. They weren't gonna give me a receipt so I had no clue the other item was out of stock, so I asked her where that is.. then someone else came and she had to help her first of course, so I waited forever for her to go to the back.. and eventually she came back and told me the item was out of stock so they didn't charge for it. I had no notification of that, so I asked for a copy of that piece of paper with the info, then she told me to take a pix. . It's weird how disconnected and inefficient this whole pickup process is. And the fact that I had to keep waiting for other people is highly unacceptable and the whole process took 20 minutes or more .. this is my first time placing an online order, and also the last time. read more

One thing that I like about World Market is that they have imported snacks, food, furnitures, ornaments, pots and pans etc from around the world. Some of the items that they sell here are quite interesting and can't be found easily anywhere else in Canada or USA. I've been shopping at Cost Plus since I was an early teenager in San Francisco. Back then, my treats were buying a very small amount of Swedish Fish candy and and a bag of their house branded rice crackers. Many, many years later, I am still drawn to Cost Plus World Market for their snacks and treats, especially ones that I learned of from my travels, I'm talking about you - Tim Tam Cookies from Australia. There is always something new to discover. After many months away due to COVID shutdowns, this time I found chocolate kettle corns at half off and dried hibiscus florals, similar to a dry fruit snack; the latter I used to buy from the Denver airport during transit. That was a happy find! CPWM is also the primary source for my favorite cracker from the UK - Jacob's Cream Cracker. Alas, it wasn't at the store during this visit. Other than food department, I also enjoy their lotions and soaps area and their kitchen department. My favorite dish washing gloves are from this store! During the holiday season, I buy wines at 6+ bottles from here. They make great gifts. Kris at front was not great. I'm general, I always have trouble ordering online witn this store so I wanted to pick up the table in person. She said they can't honor the 15% off pick up unless I place it online even if I'm at the store. So I did that. But it went to the store that after calling, they are out of stock. Then she said they can't cancel because it goes to back order. So while in store, I call the1-877 number and they canceled. I ended up buying the table there in person without code honoring. Amazing customer service. We had some issues with our Galvin Cafeteria table after picking it up from the Bellevue Store. Emerald, the store manager, provided the BEST customer service experience we've ever had after we found that our table had some cosmetic damage and manufacturing defects. Not only did she make us feel valued, but she expertly coordinated a delivery of a new table and a pick up of the old one at no cost. She also offered us some other concessions and was very communicative throughout the process. It felt like our experience was being prioritized right when we let Emerald know that we were having problems initially. Not once did we feel undervalued or forgotten. I've been a member and fan of Cost Plus for many years. I've come in to this location many times and was surprised to see I hadn't checked in yet or done a review. Stopped in last week with my husband. We purchased some beverages and small items for our house. There are always good things here for gifts, fun food items to try from around the world, and when it's a major holiday, I try to make it to a location, especially for Halloween. Cost Plus has the coolest stuff for kids as well as adults and parties for holidays. The cheeky greeting cards are also a win. read more

Cost Plus World Market is a store you go to for either very specific type of item you can't get anywhere else, or for knick-knacks and clutter. Where Cost Plus really shines is it's variety in food and wine. You'll see foods you haven't seen since you were a child (Mint Aero Bars!), have a huge selection of all different types of licorice, and see flavors of Doritos you didn't know existed. You can find foods from all different cultures and locales. The wine and beer sections are a refreshing change from the grocery store. You'll find new types of brands to try and and unique flavors you wouldn't have thought of. The store itself is kind of maze-like, they make you walk through all of the knick-knacks to get to the food and wine. I imagine that is where all of their mark-up happens, because the foods are reasonably priced. I recommend you take a stroll through the store and take note of the type of stuff they have; and if you ever get that craving for a special candy, you know where to go! read more

Wow! How long has this World Market been here? The old store by Bel Square closed last year. This is the new one that opened a few miles - further down 8th Street. My first time venturing out to the new store - I will definitely be back! Shopping online for the Swedish Wooden LED light Advent Calendar - the Bellevue World Market was the only store in the Seattle area that had more than one left. I ordered two online for in store pick up. Along with a few other things... really their whole Scandi Christmas collection this year was beautiful! Hope they do more next year! The new store is located on one of the anchor corners of the Crossroads Mall and shopping center. The mall is a separate review... even though the mall closes early now - World Market was open later on Sunday night. So convenient! Being in the mall complex there is ample free open lot outdoor parking all around so that was a definite plus. Being in Seattle and it rains a lot - wish we had more covered parking options. Lots of restaurants and the big movie theatre in back too. So lots to do. After shopping, we stopped in at Crab King and had a lovely Japanese Hot Pot dinner. The new World Market store is huge! Well laid out and convenient to walk around. We were on a mission this weekend so didn't have time to explore the whole store. But with all the extra space and shelves - they clearly had more in stock and lots to choose from. The food section in back was a little smaller than we expected. But I'm guessing they had to make room for the all the Christmas decorations, toys and gifts. This store is a great place for buying European candies, kitchen ware, stationary/greeting cards, furniture, home decor, etc. The staff was friendly and seemed very knowledgeable. When I fell in love with a Christmas tree ornament made from layers of wooden snowflake cutouts - a sales associate dropped what they were doing and helped me search the racks for a second one without hesitation. They are quick to offer assistance and jump in and help. They don't just tell you what aisle to look on - they take you there and help you find what you're looking for. I really appreciate that kind of extra mile customer service! It makes my shopping trip so much easier and less stressful! Plus more often than not the sales associate has suggestions for other products that are similar or might match what I'm looking for. Checking out was another impressive customer service experience. There were four of us in line and they promptly called for a second cashier. Didn't have to wait long at all. Even with the inevitable price check or barcode that won't scan - they just handled and things kept running smoothly. I had a $10 off coupon that wouldn't scan despite the email and the code on the screen. The manager came over quickly, looked at my phone and apologized - must be a system error. He typed a few keys on the register and beep bop beep, the $10 coupon was applied as a customer service. Great stuff! Can't predict a system error - but thank you for just handling it and making it right. This was a shorter shopping trip - maybe only 20 or 30 minutes. I pretty much picked up my online order with a few more Scandi ornaments and some German gummis thrown into the cart for good measure. But we'll be back again soon! read more

This is my place for stocking stuffers. It's been an annual tradition for me for years, bringing home German or Australian licorice, Haribo candies, maybe some olives or a small salami. It's not easy fitting that pappardelle or orecchiette in a sock, but it's the thought that counts. Who said Santa doesn't have a sense of humor, and good taste? I think the word is out though, because it was very difficult to find parking. At least I wasn't in line trying to get into Bellevue Square, or good grief, actually shop there right before Christmas. If you are looking for hip dining place mats, rugs or linens, fun trinkets, baubles or small gifts of appreciation for children and adults alike this place has you covered. I actually popped in for Holiday cards and they have a cute selection at 50% off. Cost Plus always has the cutest wine and gift bags here for dirt cheap too. The boyfriend and I thought it was time to upgrade from the days of the bottle wine makeshift roller and knife to make pasta noodles. They had two hand crank pasta rollers available for the same price and the customer service lady looked at the pictures and said they were the exact same. The boyfriend took her for her word and tried to walk away with the first one handed to him but I kept stalling him. I read the options (the type of cuts available: fettuccine, linguine, spaghetti, etc) and found they were not the same and we were about to buy the wrong one. To her defense though, the picture on the box did look the exact same. And she suggested that we sign up for the membership card so we saved a little money thanks to her. I'll be back to purchase the rest of the store so hopefully I'll have a better item reviews from the helpers there. read more

Amazingly rude woman working there today. I was picking up an online order, and I waited in my truck patiently for the two items to be brought out. As she was approaching my truck, before she even got to it and before I got out, she sneered at me in a disgusted tone that "You have to load them yourself." i was so stunned, I just looked at her and said that's fine, I don't care, just leave them there, they aren't even heavy. It was a confined space because of junk they had restricting moving around, so not wanting any further involvement with her, I waited for her to set the two items on the ground before I got out to load them. Then she proceeds to put them in the back of my truck while angrily telling me that it's not right for a man to be sitting in his car while a woman is helping him! Sorry princess, you are hired to do the job, get over yourself. I suspect this is an extension of typical terrible European customer service, as she had what sounded like a European accent. Anyway, standard protocol established during the pandemic was for customers to remain in their vehicle with the windows closed so as to avoid close contact. apparently she didn't get that memo. Whatever her problems are (maybe I was the wrong sex, age, race?), I'm amazed that anyone like her would have a customer facing job. read more

I have always been a huge fan of World Market and this one is no exception. There's plenty to browse and buy, from furniture to snacks from around the world, to clothing, cookware and booze! I also ADORE that they carry more dachshund-themed items than any other store. I recently purchased a dachshund-shaped bookshelf and it's perfect. There's a rotating selection of seasonal goods as well, and lots of great European candies and cookies during Christmas. I was impressed by their wine and beer selection as well as different coffees, teas and syrups. If you're looking for a gift and have no idea where to start, this store is a good place. Great for stocking stuffers as well. There's a large variety of petite items by the cash wrap - both food and non-food. Large parking lot and nearby a Starbucks so you can fuel up. This is NOT the store it used to be! When I first started shopping at World Market, they had a wonderful selection of various foods, drinks, and products. If I wanted unique gifts, World market was the place to go. They had awesome things for not only the major holidays, but also things for Mardi Gras and Saint Patrick's Day. However, starting last year, I noticed a change around the fall. I used to be able to purchase neat fall coffees, teas, and flavors. Same with Christmas. These things often made fantastic gifts. I used to be able to buy things for Mardi Gras and Saint Patrick's Day. However, they hardly had anything! It wasn't even worth going. Every time I make the trip down to Bellevue to have lunch with my bestie, we always, ALWAYS stop by here. Everything is super affordable and they have a wide variety of stuff. I got a vanilla bean, two in fact, like ACTUAL vanilla beans for only $2.99. TWO NINETY-NINE! People, this is mind-blowing. You can get like, five at Costco for $20. They have a huge assortment of spices, plenty of stemware, silverware and baking ware too. They have those syrups, so if you need to cut back on your coffee spending, you can try making your own at home, complete with real syrup! Though the tea packets are affordable, they aren't very good. But if you insist on purchasing bagged tea, I would come here. I went to the downtown Uwaji a couple days ago, and they sold the same brand, box and size of tea for triple the price. Maybe quadruple. And please if you have 2 little rambunctious children, don't bring them along, the isles in the store is a little tight, they might end up braking something. I mean, I just happen to be there the other week and sure enough, 2 boys about 4 and 7 years old running around hitting each other, since I do not see any adult insight, I asked the children politely to stop hitting each other the adult they were with was too busy looking for some wine with the most alcohol content and I think she heard me and BOY, she looked like she was ready to murder me, yaiks! Like that there's reserved parking for customers. This is one of the bigger stores. Even room for a four poster bed. Unlike other stores, there's a separate area for furniture. I don't feel as crammed in. I found a much larger selection of chocolates not found at the other locations. A big thumbs up for that. Great selection of gift wrapped chocolates: perfect for the busy person. How about a beautifully wrapped Italian Baci dark chocolate egg with eggs inside? Easter: really cute stuff. One of the larger Cost Plus stores in the greater Seattle area, they usually have everything I'm seeking. Their snack area is extensive and if you're not careful, you can easily fill one of their carts with tasty treats. Ooh if you are a fan of ginger ales, do yourself a favour and snag a four-pack of Bundaberg, it's some of the best I've tasted. They stock lots of small items that would be perfect for stocking stuffers or something to round out a birthday/housewarming gift. The cashiers are friendly and the floor staff are unobtrusive. There is more parking than I can imagine they'd need and they stay open late enough to satisfy any needs for British chocolates or decent wine. read more

There were candies that I haven't seen before. You could literally spend hours in this store and be swept away to different sides of the world, hence the name. I went into Cost Plus to pick up chili sauce, but ended up buying wine, pad thai mix, place mats, wine bottle stoppers, and I could have bought the entire store! All this stuff was around $20. Oh, I also bought a mini square of Ritter chocolate even though it was on my "Don't Eat And Walk Away From That Food List"! However, I really like Cost Plus because they sale food/treats from all over the world. You can get Swedish Pancake Mix, Cookies from Denmark, Vegemite from Australia, and so much more! This is not you neighborhood Safeway's or Trader Joe's, but a distinct place for buying with an international flava! Also, I was impressed by the diversity in spices for sale! You can buy packages of spices like Madagascar Whole Salt, Crystallized Ginger Root, or Organic Crush Red Pepper. The spices ranged from $.99- $4.99 per packet. Cost Plus has an impressive wine section with wines from WA and all over the world like Argentina and Spain. Recently, I have been drinking Cabernet Sauvignons, so naturally, was looking for a new wine to try! The wine gal was so knowledgeable! She knew everything about the wines and was so enthusiastic about helping out me and my boyfriend selecting a red wine. She recommended Rex Goliath wine red wine and I am excited to taste it! This wine gal was the best and provided excellent customer service! Overall, the customer service at Cost Plus was amazing! The cashier who rang me up was great! I always forget about this place and am so happy every time I return here. They have all sorts of good stuff from around the world (i.e. world market). I love scanning the shelves in the food aisle, they have a variety of stuff I want to try. Over the weekend, I discovered their spice aisle where each bottle is roughly $2-3, so cheap! It's cheaper if you buy spices in the little baggies. They also carry a bunch of other worldly spices you won't find at QFC or Safeway. I also love browsing their candy, chips, and snack aisles. They have yummy candies that I discovered in Europe (kinder, aero, cadbery) and some old favorites that I've missed. They also offer a great collection of wines that are well priced. On my last visit, I picked up a ceramic pie plate for only $10! I've heard it works just as well as the expensive ones they sell at Sur La Table (I heart this place even more). The service here is fantastic! Everyone is very nice and willing to assist and they make for a very pleasant experience each time I visit. read more

Ooh. I am still so heated hours after visiting this store. My husband and I had found some cute nightstands which we were debating for our bedroom and we didn't purchase it the day before when we were at both the Southcenter 'and' Renton location because we hadn't measured our bedroom area yet. So I had this brilliant idea that we should go back the next day and pick up the nightstands since they were on 'sale' and we should just get it over with. Their website also says it's not available online and it'd be $20 delivery for each item so we figured better to go in person. I called the Seattle store but they said they did not have any in stock but Bellevue had 9. We felt comfortable with knowing they had so many in stock that we decided to not call and just head over. I also assumed (incorrectly) that the Bellevue location would have better service than the other two stores which had been below average in service. Silly me. We arrive and walk the store to try to find the nightstands (with no luck). We head up to the cashier to ask her if we can purchase two of the nightstands and she calls furniture in the back. They call her back to say they don't know if they have any and they'll call back. I tell her that Seattle said they had nine and she said that two were already on hold. We step aside as she rings up a customer and then she rang up four different people. Now the same thing happened at the Tukwila store and I'm not sure why they either don't a) staff better or b) understand they have customers who are still mid-transaction who were left hanging. So we have no idea if we just wasted our time and continue to stand around. Finally someone from furniture shows up and asks if she has rung us up yet. She nervously says "No. I need the item number." So the furniture gal has to walk back, write it down and then decides she will just ring us up herself. We pay and are told it'll be just a few minutes as they have other furniture they are pulling for other customers but it shouldn't be too long and to drive to their loading dock on the side of the building. So we pull our car over to their loading dock. And wait. And wait. And wait. And after 20 mins, I finally walk back into the store to ask someone if they've forgotten about us. Because there were NO other cars or customers waiting for furniture. So it would seem like we were just left to dry after paying that much for two tables. I walk in the store and it's a total cluster. They have 3 different cashiers but all seem to be dealing with problems. One customer rang out and then immediately broke her purchase slamming it into the door on her way out. What does my cashier do? She ignores me and then proceeds to rush to help him replace and re-wrap their purchase. All I wanted was someone to call furniture to ask them the status but I could not find one single person to help me. Thankfully, they finally opened a 4th line (keep in mind that 3 cashiers each had 3 people each in their line) and I quickly got her to help me. She called furniture who said "Oh, we're working on it." She apologized but I was so irritated at the poor, poor customer service at this point. I walked back to our car and my husband was just then getting help getting the furniture loaded. I am so disappointed and disgusted at finding a store that has some cute, affordable stuff to only find their customer service is so poor! It's like they hire people who don't understand the concept of closing the deal and having people be happy when they leave their store. Ignoring people who are purchasing items in your store or you are in the middle of assisting is completely unacceptable. Get your online website together and stop making people drive to one of your 5 random locations and to have people be unsure if they can even sell you the product. The level of service was definitely not that of "Bellevue" caliber but I guess I was wrong to think that the Eastside still offers better service then those in the outlying area. I won't be back to this location and I don't even know if I can shop here anymore. 3 different locations in 3 days and this one was the WORST! read more

I remember back in the Pleistocene when this was the Albertsons grocery store that we sometimes went to. Its been a Cost Plus for a while now and I drive here to do my cost plussing instead of dealing with the one near the market. Why? The parking is easy and the selection is fabulous. Great wines, great and interesting food choices - curries, English treats, Vosges and Weiss chocolates that even my local MM doesn't carry. I didn't realize it was a whole store full of home goods like furniture, dinnerware, kitchen utensils, linens, pillows, etc..... And it has a European flare for all the types of these items. Prices are generally fairly inexpensive as well. I went in and found a few little trinket specialty foods to try. I found a hot sauce that was the best I've ever tasted. My girlfriend and I have wanted to buy dinnerware that we agree on as we both don't like each other's former dinnerware. This is the ONLY place we found dinnerware we agreed on. She'd also been wanting to get new glasses, but could never find the type she wanted. We finally found them here. Ended up buying the glasses and dinnerware here at this Bellevue store. The only reason I knock a star off is the cashiers were not very helpful. We forgot our 10% coupon and they made us go all the way back home to get it (but worth it since we were spending over $100). Also they did not seem to have a clue how to wrap and pack the dinnerware properly so they wouldn't break. If I'd not intervened they would have stacked things small on bottom to big on top. This place is a complete zoo. I did an online order to pick up in store. I had to ask 4 employees in the store where the pick up area is (cashier lines were crazy, so I assumed/hoped it wasn't there). Finally someone said they thought it was the checkout line. So then after waiting in the checkout line - since there's no other line for picking up what you already ordered and paid for - for just over 5 minutes, I was told only ONE cashier handles order pickups. So I then had to wait three people deep for him to help me. It would have been faster for me to just come into the store, pick things out, and get in line (once, not to have to then wait in another line). THIS is why local brick and mortar stores are going under. If you're going to offer an online option, get your act together. The cashier - who said he's the manager and that's why he's the only one who can handle pick ups (that's idiotic) - said the craziness is because they're a new store. I went up from one star to two because he ran out to the lot to give me my card I left on the counter. Otherwise, 1 star - and I'll go back to Amazon for everything I need... read more
