In August of 2007, I had a seriously negative experience with a salesperson back trhen that rather soured me on this store, and gave it a one star. In January of 2026, I have to give it five stars. The service was amazing, the woman behind the counter was incredibly helpful with a knowledge of oils and vinegars that was only matched by her knowledge of movies. We ended up getting dipping spices and a spicy mystery bag just full of amazing items. Absolutely an amazing turn around. I finally finished off my delicious raspberry balsamic vinegar from Pike Place and still had a giant bin of arugula at home, so I went hunting for good vinegar for salad. I remembered Oil and Vinegar in Bell Square and popped in just to grab a fruity, tart balsamic. They have a substantial selection of infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar with flavors ranging from garlic, basil, cranberry, peach. The store clerk was nice and friendly, and had some recommendations. No complaints on the customer service side. Unfortunately the vinegar was not as good as the service. I tried 5 flavors, all of which were super sweet and more like juice than a balsamic. I really wanted to like the balsamic choices but they just did not have body or mouthfeel. Sunk cost fallacy won that day and after having tried and failed to find something at QFC, I just bought a bottle at Oil and Vinegar. They write their prices per 100mL, which seems vaguely acceptable (6$ for 100mL) until you purchase the smallest bottle size at 250mL, which ends up being $20 after tax. For such a high price, the balsamic is not the level I hope to have paid for. They do have a lot of knick knacks and cute bottle sizes. If you are looking for a pricey, classy gift for someone you know sort-of well but not well enough to choose a personal gift for, this might be a good place to poke around. read more

This place was SO NICE!! I was dragged in by my dad, who they were great with. He always has a million questions and even more Dad Jokes. They dealt with him really well and answered all his questions and gave lots of recommendations. At the time (not sure if this is an all the time thing or was just during this time), they had out these surprise goodie bags that ranged in size and prices but you were guaranteed to get more than your money's worth. We left with two of those. Definitely got more than our money's worth and it's actually a lot of things my dad would use! So seems like we picked well. Also a couple things he'd never think of using too to get him out of his comfort zone, so all around a really good mix. Neither were "duds" at all though, which is the main point. My favorite part, naturally, was the oils they had out with bread for you to test. I might have tested out a bit more than I should have... but it was all so delicious I just kept wanting to try more. While I don't personally do much with food on my own, I'd come back. I wish I would have taken the time to come in sooner! Thanks to Small Business Saturday with American Express, I went in for the first time today and found many great dressings and toppings. The store is full of items that help bring flavor and spice to either home cooking or adding something to make take out or store bought items even more flavorful! The staff is very friendly and truly knows their products. Kudos to Amy for the great service and passion for the brand! I was also impressed to see the amount of samples in the store, it really helps you be able to try something before buying. The prices are very competitive when you factor in the quality and uniqueness of the item. Items are similar to what you would find at Cost Plus, but I can already till from the samples and dried fig spread I have been enjoying tonight the quality is leaps and bounds better. I've been shopping at this place multiple times and this guy work may 4th at night really piss me off. He asked me if I shop for any particular thing and I said yes. He asked me twice while standing back at the cashier. Ok finally he moved in front of the cashier, and I said I wanted something for my salad. The name says it all - this is a specialist shop selling flavoured oil and vinegars. The staff are keen to talk to you about their products and encourage tasting but I can understand how this could put off people who are just curious. The back of the shop is dominated by huge glass containers of their many oils and vinegars. The idea is that you choose one of their bottles which they then fill with the oil or vinegar of your choice. There are also pre-filled bottles as well as other products such as pasta, dried herbs and tapenades. There are various tasting stations throughout the store and they will also let you taste any oil or vinegar which may not be out for tasting. The products are generally of good quality and taste wonderful. Unfortunately, one small problem for me as a foreign visitor. They had no bottles on sale with s screw cap - a minimum requirement for a bottle I would be packing into my suitcase. They also had no flexibility in allowing me to bring in my own bottle to fill up. So the final upshot was no sale. Shame. read more

I ordered via Mercato and the store being closed down due to the COVID, they contacted me right away, explained the situation, canceled the order, emailed me a coupon and I ordered via their website directly. They sent the order out the same day! He even suggested the Roasted garlic grapeseed oil, which we had to get! Also recommend the Mango pulp vinegar for alcoholic drinks, makes them taste fantastic! We did have an one of the bottles have an accident due to no fault of theirs, it was just how it was initially packaged from the retailer. Sensory overload! It's pretty self explanatory - if you love oil, and you love vinegar, then this is the store for you. Love that you are able to sample them all...I also hate that you are able to sample them all as if makes for very difficult decisions. It's also great to be able to choose different sizes. I agree with some of the reviewers that the people that work there can be little pushy in their approach in making a sale..?? Horrible customer service. We were followed around the store by one of the sales staff who peppered us with questions constantly. She would not leave us alone. They have a wide selection of oils and vinegars. Samples of most everything is available so you dont go home with something you dont like. Customer service is everything. I was contacted by the owner about my concerns from my previous visit, and he offered me a chance to see what Oil & Vinegar was really about through a tasting party with my friends. The coordinator was easy to work with and very responsive. I brought 10 people with me and was greeted by the store manager and 3 other staff. There were appetizers and sweets and each staff member knew the products well. The food was so delicious! I love how they showed us the different ways their products could be used (not just dipping oil and bread). Along with free goodie bags for all the guess, all products become20% off! At the end of the party, my friends had such a great time and loved the food so much, every single one of them left the store with a purchase. This is about the annual surprise bag--Pick a bag with a price tag without knowing what is/are inside but the merchandise the shop sells. I was told the the bags are in the range of $20-$50 while the value of the merchandise in the bags worth double the price. So i got a $30 bag and guess what i got: 500 ml EVOO, 1 can of dried herbs and 3 mini mustard trio... i think these 3 things together should not worth more than $30....and very surprised that no cookbook or pasta in the bag... I did not however notice a great selection of aged balsamic. Us balsamic fanatics are like wine enthusiasts, nothing beats a perfectly aged balsamic. The workers do have some good ideas for salad dressings and stuff, but I felt like I was followed around, it was just super aggressive sales. Their motto should be in-your-face-sales (worse than a used car salesman-apparently that's a bad thing). When I actually did need help, I didn't get it (funny how things work out sometimes). They have a really good wild garlic oil dipping mix that is worth trying. They also sell oil serving dishes I come back but I noticed if you don't make eye contact with the sales people they don't bother you very much. I don't cook enough nor am I particular enough when I do to warrant purchasing anything here, so this score is solely on the samples with a price of free - beyond that the boutique-ness screams "too much" I'm not really sure of prices here. The fruschetta, just what it sounds like, is an interesting fruity thick and a bit oily tomato sauce, and is near the front so you can make a quick entrance and exit. The array of vinegars and oils on the table furthest into the store is generally closely guarded by more than one sales associate. I wasn't a big fan of the oils, I stick to the vinegars; I'm by no means a connoisseur but I enjoy their standard balsamic. Maybe I just have an aura that says "I'm not going to buy anything, so just ignore me, it will be best for both of us," but I personally have never had what I'd call a customer service problem in this store. It may also have something to do with my refusal to make eye contact and matter-of-factly answering "just looking" or "no" to their initial attempt - the key here, like in shady discount electronics chains, is to never falter; they can sense fear. I do wonder how they stay in business though, since it does seem like their staff spends more time attempting to hover than selling anything. read more

Five stars for the lemon dill mustard. Seriously, I ate half of it in one day. Apparently I have a mustard problem and didn't even know it. I might need to stock up. This is a great store for anyone who likes to cook (or perhaps gifts for people who like to cook for you). Minus one star for the sales staff. I LOVE this place. Is it pricy ? You get what you pay for . Also ... It really wasn't all that expensive . I got some muscato vinegar , and Italian blood orange oil with a can of Austrailian bush dip mix ( enough for many parties) and a can of Egyptian Durkah spices for $30. Love this store, we go to it often and it helps that we live close so it's easy to go and fill up when we need more. We have a couple of their bottles but we have our own bottles that we use and they do allow you to use them as long as they can figure out how much they are dispensing into your bottle - you should ask ahead of time, since we are regulars. Reading some of the reviews below made me roll my eyes. Sure, the salespeople are going to ask you if you need anything and maybe try and give you suggestions if you'd like but if you tell them you are just looking and will let them know if you need their help, they will back off. I guess if you look like you love to eat they may follow you around more but don't be a pansy about sticking up for yourself. I've never seen the employees be rude to anyone there. And for those balking at the price do not know the cost of quality oil and vinegar. If you want to save money, go to Costco and stock up there (and even that adds up). It does not take a lot of oil or vinegar when you are cooking (or dressing salads) and it is a lot healthier anyway. You can chalk it up to being on the Eastside but you know you love our free parking and wonderful stores. Tip for excellent cooking: Try one of their grapeseed oils instead of olive oil when you are cooking on high heat. And talk to the lady salesperson, she has a lot of great ideas for whatever you are cooking and will mix up different items for a delicious sample! read more

LOVE the great selection of oils and vinegars they have, and for $6 per 100 ml? It really is not bad for the tasty oils they have...plus they have samples out for you to try and see what you'd like. I used to HATE olive oil before coming to this place, but ofcourse now I know that I must have had horrible ones because the oil and vinegars in this place is nothing but tasty. I'm in love with the blood orange olive oil with pomegranate vanilla vinegar, it makes for an excellent spring/summer salad with spinach, goat cheese and grilled peach slices (brush the peaches with the oil and vinegar before grilling)...it's so good!! I need to write this review because I am blown away by the professionalism of the store manager, Robin. I am a vegan and have been buying this absolutely amazing pesto marinade, Saveurade Assisi, for years. Since July this pesto has been unavailable . The Spokane store was also sold out. A week ago I spoke with Robin who told me she would call every store in the country if needed to find this pesto marinade for me. I got a call from Robin later the same day, she found my favorite pesto marinade and secured me 6 bottles. I was so happy I almost jumped thru the roof. You just don't find this level of customer service anymore. Robin is an EXCELLENT manager. It really warms my heart to know she went to so much trouble to help me find this pesto. I hope Oil and Vinegar realizes how 'over-the-top' phenomenal Robin is. You just can't find good quality people like Robin any more. I think I've gotten lucky that I've never ran into extra gung-ho staff, but overall my experiences at Oil and Vinegar have been pleasant. The ample samples are a welcome treat, being able to get bulk oil is awesome and they sell specialty products like Black Garlic!! (so far the only place in person I've been able to find it). Frustrating website - been trying to spend a gift card for a year now but they don't accept gift cards when ordering on line. Additionally, they brag about the truffle chips yet never have them in stock nor are they offered online (accept if you purchase the variety truffle pack). I keep attempted to buy products here but I get frustrated and shop elsewhere. The problem is, is that I have a gift card to use. If it wasn't for the gift card I would give up on this place. If you want to be competitive you need to step it up - allow gift card purchases on your website AND make the truffle chips available, order more of them. It's a lovely space with kinds of seasonings and salts and of course, oils and vinegars. The sales staff was very helpful (almost too helpful) and happy to explain the differences between the various types of vinegars and oils. While the wall of oils and vinegars was neat, I opted to buy a gift set. This place is fabulous! Finely someplace where I can sample oils and vinegars. I don't have to pick by the look of the bottle or guess on the flavor from the color. They had a tremendous variety of oils and vinegars. I even discovered a new grapeseed oil pressed from a chardonnay grape that is fantastic to cook with. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. I was looking for a new recipe to use White Truffle oil and that staff easily rattled off a recipe for pork tenderloin with a White Truffle emulsion. Also, they had a 25 year old balsamic vinegar that I was able to taste before purchasing. It is nice to be able to find this kind of quality on the East side. As far as price goes... I felt it was a great value for the products...I mean you can buy just a deciliter at a time and spend about $15 on a bottle of oil and vinegar. And, I like that you can keep bringing my bottles back... so not only is it good for the enviroment but also for my taste buds...because I can always try something new. OK, I often use Yelp as a resource but have never felt compelled to write a review of a business until I discovered Oil & Vinegar. I live in Seattle and was looking for a really good olive oil to give an Italian friend as a gift.....I was planning to go to O&Co, but discovered it has closed in Pacific Place. Wasn't too excited about driving to Bellevue Square, but after reading some of the reviews here decided it might be worth a hike over the 520. Oh, it definitely was worth the trip! After tasting my way through the store, the staff person (red-head lady, not sure of her name) directed me to this amazing Tuscan olive oil called Bonsecco (sp?). I honestly did not know what good olive oil tasted like (or should taste like) until I tried these oils they have in large containers they call amphoras. So, I ended up picking a cool hand-blown cruet that had the Tuscan olive oil on the outside part of the bottle and has a grape bunch chamber in the middle for vinegar. The staff person did a marvelous job of gifting wrapping the full cruet at no extra charge. My personal favorites and what I went home with for myself were the Bonsecco EVOO, White Truffle oil, pomegranate vinegar, and Fig Balsamic. I also liked the Elderflower Apple vinegar mixed with a Lime Grapeseed oil...next time I will get those. You have to buy the bottles on your first visit, but can take them back and have refilled....what a cool "green" idea. I spent most of the time there tasting and learning about the different oils and vinegars....there must have been 40 or more on the table to try. But, the store is stocked with a huge selection of appetisers, sauces, herbs mixes (the Bruschetta was incredible), etc. You really need to go check this place out! I give it 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the initial mistake which made it so my mom didn't get her gift on time. Basically I put in an online order to send to my mom for her birthday. Her address is separate from mine, and so I put in her address for shipping, and mine for billing. They wound up sending the order to me instead of my mom, and considering I had spent all of the money for shipping, that was a bit upsetting. I called and filled them in on the issues, and within a few days received an email apologizing, and said that they had sent an entirely separate order to my mom, overnight, and that I could keep the other order for my troubles. I thought it was a really great gesture, and definitely showed me that they cared about their customers. I thought the least I could do was tell the people on Yelp their level of customer care - can't wait to try the products! read more

This place is AWESOME. I shopped the website for some Christmas hostess gifts. What a fantastic selection! There was a little mix up on the order I received but once I contacted the store, Anna and Vy were most helpful and friendly. Anna said she would resolve the problem promptly. Very shortly after speaking with her, I received a call from Ian who was sincerely sorry for the mix up. He said my corrected order would be expedited and to keep the original. I was so surprised!!
