Selling my condo so had to update both kitchen, bath and separate vanity cabinets and countertops. I went to all the usual companies for quotes (Sanyuan, GS, A1, Pius etc) and made a crazy spreadsheet comparing them. 1st Ave came in second cheapest (GS was the cheapest). I decided to go with 1st Ave because they were very responsive on the phone and email, and they were able to do the work faster than GS. I also really liked that the people at 1st Ave weren't pushy like at they were at some of the other companies. They came though with all they promised to do - called me when they were on the way to the job site, installed everything so all cabinets and drawers lined up and worked flawlessly, cut the quartz offsite and came back to install countertops, and cleaned up after themselves. I have been recommending them to friends and neighbours, and I would most definitely use them again. read more

Robert and Will (everyone really) have been incredible, even with my rough sketches sometimes. They know me by name and their work makes me not even consider going somewhere else. Initially I would hire them to just do the quartz countertops, but their efficiency and great results have been unmatched, leading me to have them do the cabinets as well. Their crews can do entire kitchen and bath cabinets, countertops and sinks in a day, 2 max. Those results are unmatched and allow me to finish and focus on other things to move the project along. The quality of their product is also solid, leaving me confident that they will last in my rentals and can take some abuse. I'm a small builder and I've worked with 1st Ave Kitchen & Bath several times now, beginning in 2014 with a simple three cabinet bathroom with granite countertop and sink. Since then, Robert has helped me get the right cabinets for several more bathrooms, a master bedroom and master closet, and a small kitchen. When it came time to do my own large kitchen project, I considered hiring a designer and a custom cabinet maker. However, my wife and I knew what we wanted and I trusted their cabinets to be good quality plywood and materials with good adjustable soft close hardware. We quickly sat down, found the finish we wanted and worked up a cabinet layout and order. Later my wife picked some high-end natural Jade stone and soap stone in place of the quartz I was planning on for our countertops. Their crew was able to accommodate this change with expert cutting and installation and helped us create the dream kitchen we've always wanted, on-time and under budget. Our island slab was so large and heavy, they sent five guys to get it in place and it was impressive. Their operation is simple and efficient and delivers faster than anyone else in the business. My family and I did a whole house remodel, renovating all of our bathrooms, renovating our kitchen, and adding a second kitchen in our basement. Throughout the whole design process, he was able to guide me through the different cabinet size options, different color options, and different backsplashes that were available. He rendered the layout of the cabinets on his computer with exact measurements for both kitchens and all the bathrooms, and provided me printouts of those layouts. Even when I decided to change the cabinet colors for the basement cabinets, he worked with me to get those cabinets ordered for me in time for the scheduled install. My second Kitchen cabinet set from this guys. My first kitchen remodel bought couple years ago and when we sold the property most of the potential buyers attention to the nice looking cabinets, dark cherry with solid wood. I'll tell you the kitchen is the most place these homebuyers look at, so don't be cheap! The price is just right, and if you have any problem like accidental scratches they will provide you with the touch up for free! Buying from these guys is easy, the whole process was relatively painless. I took some preliminary measurements, showed up at the showroom and told the salesperson, that I was looking at the lowest price cabinets since the home will be flipper. She pointed me to a selection of cherry solid wood cabinets which actually look great with the rest of the house! The price is within what was budgeted for, and yes its cheaper than the big brick and mortar. It only takes few days before you can pickup the assembled cabinet, but due to large size they were able to deliver for next to nothing. Since we had a good response with buyers on the first project that was sold pretty fast, we ordered my next kitchen set from them again. Price have not gone up with these guys. photos will follow after installation is done. so far dimension are on the dot. read more

BUYER BEWARE. Look these cabinets are from Asia, they look ok and are great on a budget project and my guess should be ok for 10- 15 years. Tip: Do Not have them build the boxes. Assemble yourself, use Wood glue and proper fasteners. Customer service wise though, it's another story. If you are a one time Buyer your in luck. But if you need a good, reputable Cabinet supplier for your remodeling business go somewhere else. There are 8 other cabinet companies within 1/4 mile. I have done 8 kitchen remodels with their products, today they made zero customer service approach making my decision to never ever work with them again. read more

This review represents a combination of two different transactions with this company, one of them spotless, and one of them a comedy of errors which was eventually worked out to our satisfaction. The two people we've worked with here are very nice and helpful--that was never the problem. Prices are good, quality is above average for the price. I think that they just get really busy and may get a bit disorganized/forget what has been agreed upon. Rather than go into details, this is what I would suggest for the best experience here, and it's really a best practice any time you're getting any custom work done/making a large purchase: Take thorough notes about what has been agreed upon, be it product, measurements, colors, timeline, price/price adjustments, information you're waiting on from them, information they're waiting on from you... Make sure your representative is also taking really good notes, that these notes match yours, and that these notes are attached to the work order. Don't allow yourself to be rushed through a transaction without feeling very clear that all has been communicated and recorded. Micromanage this interaction if you have to. Also be sure that you are proactively following up, as they may get busy and not contact you as soon as you'd expect. That's it! We got some beautiful and affordable granite for our kitchen and master bath, and a master vanity which they did a good job customizing for us, but it all would have gone more smoothly had we followed the above instructions. read more

This score is soley based on customer service and the people who work there, and not their craftsmanship. The quality of work is AAA and I would recommend their WORK, not their BUSINESS, to anyone. We were referred to 1st K/B by a friend and Jing, the showroom manager and GM, was very kind and helpful. She sent out a colleague to our home to measure the kitchen space and he was very amenable, and came up with multiple suggestions. Then the build team came. The builders appeared to be subcontractors and were flying on autopilot. They did not consult us when they realized that the kitchen piping didn't reach where the old sink box was. Instead of asking us about where to place the sink box (they had inserted a spacer to center it), they decided to cut an 18" diameter HOLE in the side of our sink cabinet in order to accomodate 4 small pipes. The build team then brought the wrong sink (a mistake on Jing's part, she just put down the wrong part number), and when I pointed this out and told them to go back to the warehouse to get the right sink (I also insisted that they get another cabinet box for the giant hole they cut in my sink), they informed me that another member of their team has already cut a sink hole in the granite, and that they would need to get a new granite slab and sink and cabinet set. I immediately stopped the build, called the store, and informed them that they needed to replace everything or pay the cost of a plumer to redo our sink. They opted for a plumber (which wound up costing us over $800 because the pipes failed due to damage caused by the builders. 1st avenue kitchen and bath only paid $600). I also insisted that they build us a fake wall to cover the gaping hole caused by the pipes. We were assured that this would be done a week after the build. After five weeks, 1st Ave K/B finally responded to our request (I heard "Oh, I was just about to call you!" when I called to check in) and sent a team to fix the hole. He created a patchwork solution which is glued together and, while functional, is aesthetically nauseating. They do great-looking work. But their build team will bring havok to your home and is unapologetically sloppy (we're still finding screws and saw dust around our home). If you do use them, grab a stool and watch them for the entire duration of the build. They also require 50% of the bill before they work. Do NOT pay them the other 50% until you are 100% satisfied with their work, and do not take their word on things if they say they'll get it done after their paid. They will not. read more

We just completed an interior renovation of our home on Mercer island and used these guys for our kitchen, powder room and. Master bath cabinets and stone. They came out great and even our contractor was impressed with the quality for the price. Boxes are plywood (not chipboard) with full wood tongue and groove drawers. Even with a complicated kitchen plan (no right angles) they fit these non custom cabinets to look like custom at almost half the price. And they came out to measure for a small refundable cost (they were one of the only ones in Sodo that did). Robert was a great point of contact for any issues and they were prompt and reasonable in their response. They were also faster to deliver the product than many others. We had made the rounds of the Sodo kitchen cabinet stores. 1st Ave was far and away the best of the bunch. The construction of the cabinets and the quality of the hardware is tops in this market segment. Vincent is very good at design and we were very happy with his decisions. He was on time for the measure out of the kitchen. As other reviewers mentioned, it is a good idea to watch the installers work closely. Sometimes there are a number of ways to solve a situation and it helps later on, if you make the decision. You have to have realistic expectations of what you receive from this market segment. I was willing to have some minor glitches and work with Vincent on this project. Vincent will stand by his work and make it right. And sometimes you need patience. We got a gorgeous kitchen with granite counters and backsplash for the half the price of cabinets alone from a custom cabinet maker. 1st Ave's quality is way, way better than the big box stores and you get them much,much quicker. These guys did a great job! We went in and talked with Will, he gave us a quote and asked good questions as we walked through our design to help prevent extra seams (since we were installing our own cabinets). We went down the road to "the other guys" and they quoted a higher price for the same product . We scheduled an appointment with 1st ave for like 3 weeks out. We called in because we had to make sure measurement adjustments and let him know we were ready early if anyone cancelled. They came out a week early on New Years eve. They were done in about 4 hours and did a great job! They were able to line the patterns up so the seams looked great and even anticipated us buying the wrong sink (we had some problems getting our first one and had to buy a last min one, they brought one "just in case" and we ended up having to use it). Overall they were affordable, friendly, and high quality - I would definitely recommend to anyone! read more

I just recently opened an adult family home specializing in dementia care, during that process i had completely renovated my home, as i got to design the interior of my house i wanted a design that all my residents can feel safe, secure and relaxed. I came to 1st ave kitchen and bath and my first impression was phenomenal. They took the time to ask me questions of what I was looking for and what was important to me as a provider; which was patient safety. After planning, Vincent Li (owner) went into business he took the time planning and sketching the type of kitchen/ bath floor plans that would be beneficial for my residents and my staff, but also incorporated the things that potential residents/ families would find engaging as far as advertising the home. He took his time to find the right cabinets, the right granite for each bathroom and most importantly the kitchen/ dining room area. The outcome turn out much better then what I had expected. What really made a difference to me was how Vincent always called to make sure that the workers were on top of things and that I was satisfied with the outcome- great teamwork skills. Any concerns, he made it a priority to fix, if it was not possible then he would find alternative routes to make the process less overwhelming. This reassured me, he showed me that it was not just selling but giving the most optimal satisfaction possible to their customers. Vincent wanted the best outcome and he achieved that. We just had them do our kitchen for the second time.....we took a wall down so we had to redo the counters. First time they did Carrera Marble and this time we went with quartz. I do design work so I am probably as picky as they get but I had to write a review because they did an amazing job. The seams were seamless, best I've seen. They were nice....put up with me looking and analyzing everything. I hope I don't have to redo this kitchen again but would and will highly recommend them to people and clients of mine!!! read more

for their service and price!! they are flexible in terms of being able to exchange cabinets if you ordered the wrong size as long as it hasn't been installed. With the quartz, their price was so much cheaper around $5700 for caesarstone quartz compared to home depot's quote of 10K for LG quartz. 10 yrs ago I got granite installed by home depot and they gave me 2 seams around the 45 degree sink area and the sink cut out was horrible, the silicone glue was visible. Home depot contractor said it would be difficult to do with one seam. Well, same kitchen layout around the sink area, and 1st Ave did it with one seam and for much cheaper! read more

We updated our kitchen cabinets and counter top in the summer. We chose the cherry cabinets and "gold river" counter top. This is our first time to do kitchen updating, and there were so many new things for us. The lucky thing is the two bosses of the store gave us many good suggestions and great help to make our project work smoothly. Some of their staffs who installed the cabinets and counter top were very nice and very easy to cooperate with too. After their job finished, our friends all feel that our new kitchen is amazing. We decided to use 1st Ave to install our counter tops based on the reviews in yelp as well as our really positive experience in interacting with Erin via email as well as Vincent in the store. Our frustration came in the installation phase. When they came to do the templating the communication was very poor as the language barrier was insurmountable in that the person doing the measurements spoke zero English. In addition, they did not actually do any templating, rather he only took measurements with a measuring tape and a scratch piece of paper (other organizations actually make templates and/or use lasers for the measuring). This was very concerning but went along with it. When they came back the next day to install, not only did they bang up our new walls, making several repairs required on the Sheetrock, but the counter top did not fit well and had to produce a ¾" gap between the back of the counter and the wall that now our tile person has to try and compensate for in the back splash. And the front edge of the counter top is different measurements all over the place in terms of the overhang over the front of the cabinets, making the handles stick out in some places and recessed in others. We complained but the did not want to redo the whole thing and instead gave us a $300 discount. I wish I had demanded them to redo the project. Now we have counter tops that look very unprofessionally installed and very thick tiles in some places and not in others. read more

I'm pretty impressed with the quality vs. cost on these cabinets. After nearly giving up on new cabinets my contractor recommend I consider this company. My previous experience with Chinese import cabinets was not great with another company across the street. But I found this group of folks to be helpful and easy to work with. The guys that work the front desk and do the quotes speak perfect English and were really patient and helpful. From date of order to pick up was one week (no delivery unless they do the instal). My location was pretty far out so I had a local installer. All of my cabinets were put together well and there was no damage. I ordered the white shaker. I wanted a more custom look so I ordered extra 3" fill pieces and we created a shaker look around the base of the island. I then ordered $38 corbels off Amazon. Additionally, they did not offer a light rail strip. I was able to use the 3" fill to create a nice light rail as well. Long story short, I was able to create a really custom looking kitchen for a really affordable price. It would be nice if they offered an color match paint. But I was able to get a pretty good match at Sherwin-Williams...just an extra step. My only small complaint was that I was missing a couple of items on my order. Just accessory pieces. Dishwasher end panel and skin for island. Partly this was my fault. I simply didn't know what to ask for. If this is your first time ordering a kitchen be prepared that you might have to make a coulple trips to pick up extra stuff. Not a huge deal and they were very helpful when I came back in. read more

I would never recommend this company, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The granite was reasonably priced, but the install was really bad...there is a noticeable seam, the installers cut out a large section of trim and left it and the real kicker was that the bar area has only 2 of the 3 edges finished leaving exposed plywood on one side. When I brought it to his attention the installer suggested I cover it with trim. (Seriously??) When I contacted 1st Ave K/B they said that they would make it right for an addition $300. Got a quick layout and estimate from Jing, followed by a computer layout by email. Their website is a blank page and they so far have not returned my calls after several days of trying. Friends are happy with them and their kitchen install, but expect minimal in store sales help because Jing at the front desk is not going to hold your hand. 1st avenue Kitchen and Bath is amazing! I started my kitchen/bath remodel hunt at Pius. What a joke. The Pius bidder came almost 2 hours late, didn't bring samples i requested, then asked to come back because he said he took the wrong measurements. The bid was totally high. FORGET IT! After that I headed to a few other Sodo shops until i FINALLY found 1st Avenue Kitchen&Bath. 1st Ave. bid 1/3 less in cost then the previously mentioned competition on my rainbow cloud granite and American Cherry cabinets. We also got rock bottom prices on our high guage steel sinks and fans. The owner, Vincent, was on time for the estimate, very knowledgeable, smart, and easy to communicate with. The office manager, Jiang was always there to help with the financial details and GREAT PRICING. She always smiled and tried to be nice even though my demands must have stressed her out...lol. The granite installation went seamlessly......They instantly fixed mistakes and followed thru on details. I am so satisfied I am buying slate for my bathroom with 1st avenue right now. My husband and I needed a custom vanity top for our guest bathroom due to the odd size and needing to have the sink more to the right. We drove into Seattle and found this place. The lady at the front desk was very helpful in helping us to pick out a marble that would look great. We explained what we needed and she quoted a price, which was reasonable. Because it was just a bathroom vanity we decided to pick it up and do the install ourselves. It was ready when they said it would be. We picked it up and came home and installed it. Once installed we noticed that it had an overhang of about 4 inches past the cabinet. We said lets measure it and found that it was not the measurement we gave them but about 3 inches more and vey noticeable. I emailed them and let them know and of course did not hear back. They have our money so why would they respond. I will not be recommending them! my neighbor is in need of granite and I told her we would go to one of the other places down the street. I think this is very poor customer service not to respond ! read more
