From start to finish the work was excellent for this admittedly very difficult request. They contacted me quickly regarding my service request, explained the process, provided a quote (a realistic quote), the time to complete and possible variables which could affect the process and/or the end product. In the end, they kept to their timetable and the level of workmanship exceeded expectations, both of which a customer is always on the lookout for and often is not met/provided. Definitely, a company to keep in my records for future renovations. read more

Ian worked with me long distance to fix cabinets ruined by tenants' dogs. He went the extra mile to make sure the refinishing matched the old color ( cherry cabinets), the work was done cleanly in a couple of days and his price was fair. The before/after photos are amazing. I highly recommend him. read more

We bought a home with kitchen maple cabinets that were good quality but had taken a real beating over the years. Ian came in and made them look like new. Really fine work at an extremely reasonable price. Ian is excellent to work with and a total expert in working on cabinets. Definitely consult with Ian before taking the major, and generally extremely expensive steps, of replacing or re-facing cabinets. A total pro, and so pleasant to work with. read more

We recently remodeled our kitchen and had to decide between reface and refinish. Honestly, the cost of refinishing was much lower and looks just as nice! Ian did a remarkable job sanding and repainting our cabinets. He drilled the holes for the knobs and handles and rehung and balanced each door and drawer. Some of our cabinet doors were cracked and he went the extra mile to repair them all. Most important, Ian communicated well thru each step of the process. He shows up when he says he will, protects your home and cleans up thoroughly at the end of each day. Ian knows his business well and answers all questions and concerns. I highly recommend Ian of Cabinet Renovations for your cabinet refinishing needs! read more

We had a great experience with Ian and the whole team. They finished the whole job (50+ cabinets in the kitchen and 10+ in the bathroom) in 2 days! They were able to restore the areas where other companies said they probably would not be able to. A bit more costly than some of the other quotes but well worth it in the end. Out Cherry cabinets have not looked better in over 30 years! read more

Ian at Seattle Cabinet Renovations was great to work with from start to finish. Got an easy quote over the phone, quickly scheduled a date and he kept in communication throughout the project. You are able to pick your own color from anywhere and they will also install soft close door hinges for a great price. He was kind enough to come finish everything on a Saturday because we were out of town and he wanted to make sure we liked the color once the first coat was on the cabinets. Definitely recommend if you are looking to update your cabinets without the hassle or expense of a full remodel! read more

Ian recently completed a cabinet refinishing of our kitchen, he did an exceptional job, the new color is perfect. Ian does a great job of explaining all options and even did 5-6 samples for us so we could better visualize what we were selecting. It took about a week but he was very respectful of our space and took great care to protect the rest of our home. We are very pleased with the outcome and would definitely hire him again. read more

Refinished all the cabinets in our kitchen. Pricing is $180 for each door, panel, drawer, etc. Included is all the surrounding framing. We had 52 openings. The total price shown is before WA tax. We are very pleased with the result. This project requires that you remove everything in your kitchen. It is a great opportunity to clean everything and you should do that before the masking begins. This project requires significant effort on the homeowner's part. It took 2 days for the contractor to remove all the doors, drawer fronts, the hardware and to mask the areas that would not be painted. Painting took 1/2 day and another 1/2 day to remove all the masking and draping and to clean up. Plan on not being able to use your kitchen for at least 4 days. After the painting was done, it took about a week for the doors and drawer fronts to be returned. During this time, you can use the kitchen but everything is likely laid out on tables and counters, not in drawers and cabinets. We feel our kitchen has a completely new, more modern look. Do not expect the grain of the wood to be covered. read more

I have never posted a review online but the quality of the work along with the exceptional customer service that I received from Ian at Seattle Cabinet Renovations compelled me to do it for the first time. I contacted Ian about painting my cabinets as part of a kitchen refresh. The quality of the work is fantastic at a price that made this an exceptional value. I couldn't be happier with the way my cabinets look and the service I received. If you're looking to have cabinet work done, I'd highly recommend that you consider Seattle Cabinet Renovations. - Posted on behalf of Willie Mae B. read more

My kitchen cabinets were in fine shape, the finish had failed. Ian explained the method to restain the doors and drawer fronts over the phone. The first day was to prepare the fronts; the second day was to stain them. The work went as described in two days' time. They look fantastic! Thank you, Ian and company! read more

My 20 year-old custom cherry cabinets were in need of refreshing. I met Ian and he told me what he could do, what it would cost and when he could do the project. I hired him and he did everything he said he would, including finishing on time. I was so pleased that I had him come back and do the living room and bath cabinets. Once again, he provided admirable work in a timley fashion. I have been a homeowner for forty-plus years and have worked with many contrators, Ian definately ranks in the top three. read more

Ian worked magic and restored our sad, shabby Cherry cabinets to their original beauty. Many people told us we would need to paint them because the damage from steam etc was too great. We love the look of Cherry but were just about resigned to painting them. Then our contractor suggested Ian with Cabinet Renovation. Wow!! We are so happy with the results. And so happy to have our cabinets restored to how they used to be. Highly recommended! read more

After nearly 20 years, our cherrywood kitchen cabinetry was showing some significant signs of wear and tear. This was most common around the pull hardware, but also in other areas. Ian provided us with quick response, thoughtful answers to our questions, and an easy-to-understand pricing structure. He went out of his way to ensure a mutual understanding of what to expect from his work, and the care we could take following the work to extend the life of our home investment. He spent three days in our home, working behind a taped-off plastic curtain. The cabinets are still open and are drying, but look spectacular. Ian is a true craftsman! read more

In preparing to sell my condo in 2016 I reached out to Ian for a quote to refinish the cabinets. His estimates are easy - just count the openings and multiply by his rate. Ian was more expensive than the painting companies I received quotes from - $4250 vs $3000-$3300 - but I think you can see in the photos that his work speaks for itself. He actually refinishes the wood via sanding, staining, and applying a protective clear coat whereas the painters would just slap on two coats of paint that is more prone to peel and crack in the future. The end result looks amazing. I chose Ian because he only does cabinets and he does the work himself, whereas at a painting company, I might get a kid doing it for his summer job without much experience. At the time, he was booked, but made room in his schedule to accomodate my project on weeknights at his shop. Ian is a very friendly guy who communicates well. It was a pleasure working with him! read more

Our kitchen cabinets - cherry, with a moderately light, golden-honey stain -- were looking ratty after years of daily use. They were structurally solid, but no longer looked good, particularly around most of the edges, where moisture had taken a toll. We decided refinishing was the way to go, so we contacted Seattle Cabinet Renovations, and met Ian. We liked his approach to pricing, and decided the cost was reasonable, in light of all the wood surfaces he would be refinishing. He started the job when he said he would, and he finished when he said he would. I was stunned that he could do so much in a short amount of time. The cabinets now look virtually the same as they did the day they were installed. You have to look hard (and know where to look) to find traces of the various dings, etc. We're very pleased with his work. It's as though we have new cabinets. I should mention that Ian is very personable. We enjoyed having him in our home. He's also considerate, as shown by the fact that when he found a broken hinge, he replaced it without charge. Likewise, when he noticed two shelves that showed water damage (from storing cups and glasses that were not entirely dry), he repaired the shelves without charge, even though shelving was not part of the deal. We're happy to recommend him. read more

Ian is fantastic and does beautiful work. My cherry cabinets had several issues with finish worn thru and areas of stickiness. Now they look even and brand new. He protects your home, is easy to work with. You won't be sorry if you hire Ian. The cost is far less than replacing cabinets or refacing. read more

We had Ian come in and transform our cabinets from dingy, water damaged oak colored cabinets to crisp, bright white cabinets. He painstakingly prepped all the doors and drawers at his workshop off site, painted the boxes/frames of the cabinets and reinstalled everything perfectly. Our kitchen has been transformed. He was communicative, honest, friendly, and a very skilled hard worker. We really appreciated his work on our kitchen. Highly recommend. A person of integrity. read more

Ian Dubois, the owner and person who did our kitchen cabinets (42 'openings' which is the way he does his estimates), was straightforward in his estimate, on time for the work, completed it as promised, and it looks great! He went out of his way to be sure the work was complete and to our satisfaction He is also personable and flexible. He made a few other suggestions on how to quiet the door closings and care for the newly laquered surfaces. I highly recommend him. read more

We got the name of Ian and his company from a friend that used him several years ago and were still pleased with his work. I checked his reviews and was impressed. When he returned my call he was extremely thorough in explaining exactly how he prices jobs, what he does step by step and how he does the job. I wanted our cupboards and drawers restored vs. painted. He explained he restores the looks of the cabinet vs serious repair work. He could not have been more clear or concise. We scheduled an appointment and he was prompt, calling the day ahead to confirm. He did the job as promised and also tossed in a little free and helpful advice as well. I am happy to recommend him and his work. read more

Ian refinished my kitchen cabinets 2 years ago. At that time, our kitchen had to be remodeled because of a dishwater flood. Our insurance paid for the flood, but that did not include new kitchen cabinets. So, the 30 year old cabinets looked dinghy in the otherwise new kitchen. We called Ian, and his expert work made our cabinets look new! I meant to write his company a good review at that time, but other things came up. Now, 2 years later, the cabinets STILL look like new, and I thought everyone should know what a great job Ian does. I would not hesitate to call Ian again, although one flooded kitchen in our lifetime is enough! Ann Nicoteri read more

Very happy with the work Ian did refinishing our 20 year old maple kitchen cabinets. The finish had worn off in places and there were some stains. He responded quickly for our request for a bid, met with us and explained the whole process, showed up on time and was done on time, was informative, personable and a pleasure to work with. We understand maple is very challenging to refinish successfully and some companies we contacted won't attempt it. Ian really knows what he is doing. Our cabinets look better than new. Very reasonably priced for the amount of work, too. read more

Fabulous company... I called Ian tonight for advice as we are "attempting" to do our own cabinets and the tannins are coming through the primer. Knowing we may or may not hire him, he took the time to walk me through what to do... what a savior! Such a kind soul! Please look no further if you are in your search process... I'd have hired him in a New York minute if we weren't so far in the process! read more

Pros: Up front pricing, great communication, friendly, accurate description of process, protected flooring and countertops, ventilated as best he could, On Time! All at a price below his competition. Cons: He didn't have any calling cards for me to give to friends and relatives. Ian was a pleasure to work with very knowledgeable and professional. Our cabinets look as good as when we bought them. We had our (stained, not painted) maple kitchen cabinets refinished/refreshed by Ian. They weren't too old (about 12 years), but we had some water damage by the sink and dishwasher. The results turned out great! He showed up on time, did what he said he would, and even went the extra mile when initial results were not up to his standards. The pricing was straightforward, so that was a nice bonus. I highly recommend him. We would definitely use him again, if needed. (Newcastle, WA) read more

I found about Ian Dubois and his company Cabinet Renovations from one of my Realtor clients. She highly recommended his service for a cost efficient method of upgrading my 30 year old oak cabinets to get my home ready to sell. I had been quoted $6500.00 to have them painted by a local painter, and decided I did not want to spend that much. Ian's job was much less that the painters quote and the results are fantastic. Ian and Rob arrived on time, stuck to the quote he had given me over the phone and immediately went to work(after explaining the process) They both worked all day without leaving the site. Barely took a lunch break. Very personable and professional. Will definitely recommend this company to my client's that need this service in the future. read more

We met Ian (the owner of Cabinet Renovations) at the Seattle Home Show in February 2012. We talked to numerous other businesses at the show about refinishing our cabinets. Ian's approach to the business (tell me how many opening you have and I will give you a price) was simple and straightforward. Ian recently completed the cabinets in our kitchen, bar, office and laundry room. They look great!! He was clear on what he expected from us before he arrived, was on the job at the time promised and was overall a pleasure to deal with. We still can't believe he finished all the work in one day. Not only did he do a great job but he came up with solutions and little touches that really made our cabinets look great. Ian is great. He had a very difficult job toning down my expensive cabinets. He was reliable, he took a lot of time and effort to achieve the right color for me. I would recommend him to family and friends. Only downside is his website doesn't do his work justice. read more

I've had to speak/deal with a lot of trades people over the last few weeks, and although Ian did not do any work for me, his response time in my request for a quote was so impressive it compelled me to write a review. This trait seems to be getting more rare in the trades, but Ian nailed it. Thanks! read more

My cabinets were repainted by Cabinet Renovations with an extremely poor outcome. The owner took responsibility by claiming the primer he used was bad (documented in a text thread from the owner) and repainted some of the cabinet sections, with poor outcome again. It was clear in the areas where the paint was rubbing off that the surface of the cabinets were not prepped, sanded or primed. In total, my cabinet doors were removed and touched up 4 times. I have time stamped photos documenting each step of this process, showing the damage, and showing the resulting fix. After the 3rd attempt at repair, the owner admitted that his assistant did not properly prep the cabinets. I have this in writing in text form from the owner's phone number. I gave the company one more chance to correct the problem. The cabinets were again returned to me in a poorly repainted condition. I have photo documentation of their current state showing poorly covered and uneven surfaces. Also, as a result of this company removing and replacing the cabinet doors repeatedly, the base cabinets have cracked from screws being over tightened in several places. I have attempted to communicate my dissatisfaction with the owner in 3 separate texts. Each time he said he would email me and he has not. I resulted to asking for a partial refund to have my cabinets repainted and repaired properly. I still have not heard from the owner and it has been since February 28, 2017 with no communication from him. My kitchen has been in a state of remodel for a total of 10 months because of poor workmanship and poor communication from the owner. Reported to BBB. read more

Ian did a color change on some cabinets for me, and they couldn't have turned out better! The cabinets were 15 years old, and now they look like we replaced them with new ones. He was also very easy to work with; we've been remodeling for a few months now, and he has been by far the easiest to work with, friendly and professional. He completed the project exactly when he said he would and right on budget. Other contractors working in our house have also commented on how good they look. Highly recommend! read more
