My husband and I came here for a date night, and it was such a blast! We took the 'Evening in Thailand' class and learned how to make Chicken Pad Thai, Thai Vegetable and Coconut Creme Brulee.. The instructor, Chef Julia was high-energy, skilled and made everything easy to follow. The best part was getting to eat what we made at the end--the flavors were so much better than takeout! It's a group setting (we shared a station with another couple), which made it social and fun. Plus, you get a 10% discount in the store afterward, so we definitely walked away with a new wok. Did a cooking class with chef Jaguar. Location and staff were all great. Jagaur had obvioulsy never cooked at Sur La Table before and had likely never prepared any of the dishes. The main course was supposed to be grilled chicken. Intead we cooked in a pan and then chef finished in oven. The dish was later plated and served to 12 of us. All but one was raw in the middle and required another long finish in the oven. As a result our rice, vegies, and jicama were all long eaten before chicken came back out. Could have been a disaster had I not pointed out the uncooked chicken to the chef. read more

I took the Five-Star French Meal in-store cooking class and loved it! Chef Peter gave clear instructions along with helpful tips and tricks, and the staff efficiently cleared empty bowls and tools to keep our workspaces clutter-free. The nameplates were a nice touch, making it easy to find our spots when we first arrived. There's a break in the middle to rest and shop the store (with a 10% discount for class participants!), plus free cappuccinos and lattes made from one of the espresso machines on display. On 3/14/26 I drove from Edmonds to Kirkland and chose to purchased a $69. 95 Capresso electric tea kettle. Last week the complete handle with electrical wires came off the side, hot water everywhere. Luckily I wasn't burned. Called Sur la Table today, 5/12/26, just under two months after purchase and the associate said that after 30 days, defective or not, I needed to deal with the manufacturer. I went for a sushi making class with my friends and we had so much fun! The cooking area is spacious and everyone has a full station set up. It was great that we could spread out but could all still see the chef. It was the perfect combination of instruction and playing around! We got some great tips from the chef and some hands on instruction, but most of the class was us tasting and playing with the food. I'm gluten free and brought my own gluten free soy sauce and was able to eat everything. There was a TON of sushi and it all turned out really well! We had a blast and I would love to attend another class in the future. read more

I really appreciate the convenience and ease of in person shopping Sur La Table offers, I typically visit this location when seeking hard to find Le Creuset pieces or specialty utensils. Customer service is really good and very personalized in comparison to larger culinary specialty stores. The cooking classes that are currently offered are for children 7 and up, I do wish there were toddler & parent classes as I believe it would be a fun activity. I was ordering some pasta bowls and other items online and somehow ended up ordering just a measuring cup. The shipping charge was more than the cup. I tried to cancel the order because it was an error. Despite having called to cancel the order 5 minutes after placing the order I am told they "cannot" cancel it. I was about to make a fairly large purchase before this occurred. I will NEVER order from SLT again. It's no wonder Amazon is taking everything over. No issues on that site if you make an error. And, yes, I understand that it was an internet order but it showed this store as somehow involved? I called the store and they can't do anything. It's like the company works to be difficult. Maybe they think they will get more revenue by handling things this way? No idea, but they have lost my business forever and I am going to make sure everyone knows of my experience. We did a cooking class here for filled pasta. The classroom is at the back of the store, and they provide everything you need. You also get 10% off items in the store the same day you shop. You work in groups of 4. The chef and teacher was knowledgeable and personable and not only was the food delicious, we felt we left with the skills to try it at home. OMG! What a wonderful cooking class we had tonight!! My husband purchased this for a "date night" and we were really looking forward to learning some new techniques! Sur La Table did NOT disappoint! Our chef instructor was amazing and guided us through the evening preparing onion pickle, plantain chips with a mango salsa, rice and beans, incredibly marinated and grilled pork cutlets, and caramelized flans for dessert! Every item had meticulous instruction, techniques expertly demonstrated, and superb guidance in preparing an exceptional meal! We will definitely return for another amazing night of delicious food! We recently did a work team building event here and joined the cooking class for Korean food! We were given 4 dishes to make altogether. They were cucumber salad, beef bulgogi, japchea, and Korean pancakes. The Chef was patient. He showed us how to cut each vegetable upfront and then he walked around and personally showed us up close. He shared with us the actual ingredients and where to buy. It was evident that the Chef knew his Korean food! ImThe helping staff were very pleasant and often came by to give tips and cleaned our working area. We enjoyed the team event and the best part was that we could eat what we made! Bougie kitchenware store. You know, for the serious chefs or well off stay at home parents. I'm sure everything is the finest quality possible, but oh man, an espresso machine runs 3k here, which means it you need to drink about 600 cups of coffee to break even with the cost of the machine before it starts saving you money on buying Starbucks. This location has a kitchen and host cooking classes quite often. It's a fun activity to indulge in and it's also such a great gift idea to give somebody so they get the experience to remember for a lifetime vs. something material. The store in on a major street along downtown Kirkland, there is complimentary 3 hours parking that it not attached to the store at all so it's definitely not obvious, you have to turn up the hill into a retail garage. It's pretty tight so I'd say only use it if you're taking a class and plan on staying long, if you're planning to just shop, there's plenty of closer parking along the strip. I was gifted a cooking class for Christmas and it took place at this location; Chinese Restaurant Favorites. If you arrive a little early, you can go straight back to the corner where the kitchen and "class room" is or you can browse around the store to see what they have. The store is a decent size for all of the cooking needs you may have so browsing easily passes the time. The instructor was friendly and gave the instructions very clearly. The other people attending the class were also nice. You do not interact with the others in the class too much if you go with a group of 3-4. If it is just you or maybe you a +1, then you may get paired up with more people to cook with. This is not optional because they only setup a certain number of cooking stations, there were 4 when we went. Once the cooking begins, the process is pretty quick. The class lasted 1.5 hours to cook and eat. The other workers there do all the cleaning as we go which is very nice. because you have a clean space to work in. The food quality and taste was pretty good. Just like the other cooking classes I have been too, they give you the recipes to take home with you. If I ever get a dumpling steamer or wok, I will probably recreate the meal at home. read more

This is my first ever review on my second experience at a Sur La Table class and Imm just a bit disappointed. Today my teenage son and I went to the knife skills class. The chef/teacher was "fine", but had a hard time getting around to all 14 participants to ensure the techniques taught were executed well. The biggest issue I had was they had divided the class into 4 or 5 groups each with 4 people. Then, they had a selection of vegetables for each group of 14 to share and take turns cutting. Meaning here is a big red onion we want you to practice cutting, but they only had one onion for each group of four. For the $100 per person we paid i felt each person should get a full set of vegetables. It felt cheap and was annoying we had to worry about each person in the foursome having a turn cutting the same orange or onion or potato. And a little thing, we cut a bunch of fresh vegetables but we didn't end up using the vegetables- we just threw them away. (We did make a cucumber salad (only cucumbers and dressing) but through away the rest of the cut veggies. This will likely be my last class at Sur La Table. read more

Purchased a Sur La Table wok online for a Christmas present. Dont use very often. About 10 times in the last many years. The coating totally came of in random areas. We have always used the appropriate tools with do stir fry. Thinking it should last longer then 10 times we took it back to the store. They stated we only were guaranteed 30 - 90 days. That doesn't make any sense since its a wok we use randomly. Since I didnt have a receipt (Sur La Table) printed on the handle. They would not return it and told us to contact online. I have purchase many expensive items at this store and taking cooking classes. Seems like they could guarantee their products better. Be cautious as this was only 50.00 we wanted replaced but they refused. read more

As a long time fan of the company (dating all the way back to the original store in Seattle), we have now had multiple (in a row) negative interactions with the Kirkland location. They have all appeared to "quietly quit" on the customers. Walk in the store - good luck getting them to actually help you out or check you out. They seem much more interested in chatting amongst themselves than keeping a lookout for customers needing help. I get that doing retail post-pandemic is tough, but the reality is that high-end cooking supplies are a passion expenditure by amateurs (in the truest latin sense of the word) and we come to places like Sur La Table to have fun shopping, learning, and experiencing. The local management at this store should seriously attempt to learn what their customers think about the service experience so that they can help restore the reputation of the store to its former glory. We will keep trying to work with them with joy in our hearts, and hope that they find their way back. read more

My husband and I took the cooking class Date Night Steakhouse Special at the newly remodeled Kirkland's Sur La Table. The chef, Peter, was a wonderful, encouraging teacher and made the class a lot of fun. Everything was set up beautifully, and lots of hands on opportunities. I attended tonight's french class. First, and I don't blame sur la table for this but this class is a beginner class. If you have any knowledge of cooking this class might be too easy for you. I asked one question, " Can you substitute other dairy for the whole milk and half and half in the creme brûlée?". The answer was " I don't know". Really?? Why am I taking a course when the instructor doesn't know this? The answer BTW is yes, you can but the texture of the custard will be different. Why didn't the "chef" know this? This was not the only time I heard "I don't know" this evening. A cooking class really does need someone who is not only reading a recipe but also understands the why. How can we better cooks if we don't know why something is happening? Second, there is really very little cooking in this class. Most of the courses are prepared for you so you are doing no more than putting things in a pan. Additionally, the "chef" had to refer to the recipe so many times it became distracting. Why didn't he know what he was teaching? And then the class got out of control and we were all winging it. I ended up showing my team members how arch a salmon fillet to expose the pin bones. The chef had them plucking nilly Willy. That means a massacred fillet. All in all, if you have zero experience in cooking this might me the place for you. But for the price, this is an expensive way to hear " I don't know". read more

I came to Sur La Table for a French baking class where we made pain au chocolate and morning buns. The class was very interactive and I had fun learning how to make the croissant dough. The chef and instructor, Peter, seemed very knowledgeable and was able to answer most of the questions people asked throughout the morning. There is staff present during the class to clean up during cooking so you don't have to worry about a messy station, and ingredients are prepped and portioned out for you as well. We went home with 3 morning buns and 3 pain au chocolates each after about a 2 hour class. I will do another one of these classes in the future, especially for something like this that is a time consuming process and not something I am likely to regularly make. read more

I paid $100 each for my partner and I to attend a "date night" class. So for $200 we seasoned one side of a steak and rolled some gnocchi. We didn't even make the dessert as the instructor made it because he didn't want anyone to mess it up. You pair with another couple which is fine but they only give you enough food for one couple, so it's a lot of just watching someone do a step. Overall this experience was way way waaay overpriced. I didn't learn anything and it was a complete mess. It could be better but I really don't think sur la table cares about teaching you anything or giving you a enjoyable time as they just want your money (shocking, I know). I'd skip and just enjoy a nice meal out (instead of the meager servings you get here) and save some money. read more

This review is based on both a cooking class and shopping experience at this Sur La Table location. For my birthday last week, my fiancé surprised me with a cooking class at Sur La Table and then a little shopping spree afterwards. As someone who LOVES to cook, this was a dream. I'll start with the cooking class. The class was on Valentine's Day morning and we were 2 of 6 people there to learn some new kitchen techniques. I had no idea what to expect until I got there and was pleased to see that we were making pork tenderloin with romesco, fingerling potatoes, shaved Brussels sprouts, and churros. While I've made mostly all those things before, it was a first for romesco and churros. And, of course, no matter how many times I've made a particular dish, I really love watching great technique. I'm always practicing and trying to be better in the kitchen. I loved the chef/teacher and had a ton of fun cooking and learning with this group. I would definitely recommend taking these classes. There are a ton of different topics and recipes you can learn. But really the techniques you learn are the best part. Oh! And if you take a class you get a small discount to shop in the store, which is always awesome. Now on to the shopping, which was so much fun. Sur La Table isn't cheap, but it's like my wonderland for kitchen items. I left with a new apron, some new wooden spoons, prep bowls, a meat mallet and a couple of other things. But while I was there I was lusting after their All-Clad sets and Staub cooking ware. I didn't dare step into the knife department since I've already decided on a Japanese knife set that I want. But their Miyabi collection is amazing. Oh, and I was so close to getting a Breville oven/air frier that was screaming my name. We did decide to get a set of D5 7-piece All-Clad set. But they didn't have it in stock. So we'll have to check back. They offered to match prices off Amazon for that set, as well. I really appreciate that. I loved my experience here and got a ton of help from the staff during the time I spent there. I haven't been to the flagship, downtown location. And since this experience was so great, I can't wait to check out that one! read more

You charged me for things I didn't buy in the first place. I DID NOT change my mind!!!! Furthermore, the bakewares I bought got tarnished and looked black upon first wash. Had to go back for a THIRD time to return the dangerous products! They begrudgingly took the return and acted like I was trying to scam them. We learned how to make a tasty pesto sauce and how to cook a yummy steak and the dessert chocolate mint gelato. I'm writing to express how disappointed my husband and I were of the Beginner Baking Class that the Sur La Table Kirkland, WA store ran today January 2, 2023. Specifically, we find the baking Chef Jason to be very rude to paying customers and the response of the store GM Erica to be inadequate. Chef Jason told everyone in class to add cocoa powder to a flour mixture, a direction that I followed to the letter. He then came to the table I shared with my husband and two other paying customers and proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't have done so. When I tried to correct Chef Jason, he repeatedly said that is not what he meant, but that we can continue. The next 20 minutes were filled with Chef Jason repeatedly coming back to our table and loudly stating that the mixture that we are working with was wrong and won't turn out as planned. Chef Jason clearly sensed my discomfort in having been the person who followed his direction to add the cocoa powder to the flour mixture, yet Chef Jason proceeded in repeatedly humiliating me in front of the other paying customers. When my husband pulled Chef Jason aside to explain that the entire table had heard him directing the addition of the cocoa powder to the flour mixture, Chef Jason apologized to my husband. When my husband told him to apologize to me, Chef Jason loudly yelled across the room to me that he "apologized if there is a miscommunication". That is when I untied my apron and left the class halfway through the session. Chef Jason clearly doesn't have the professional mannerism needed to deliver a cooking infotainment service to paying customers. Moreover, he doesn't have the baking knowledge required to deliver a Beginner Baking class. When asked why the recipe needs baking powder AND baking soda together, Chef Jason claimed he didn't develop the recipe. When he was asked if the sour cream can be substituted with cream cheese, Chef Jason didn't know the answer either. He also chose the wrong baking tin for the bake, resulting in the overflow of the first cake the entire class has worked on a quarter way through the baking time in the oven. Clearly, this person is the wrong person to deliver a baking class priced at $89/person. When my husband took after me, a store employee who witnessed the entire thing stopped my husband for details and contact information. Store GM Erica called my husband a few hours later and my husband repeated the incident. She was apologetic, yet only offered a 50% refund instead of 100% refund for what was a terrible, humiliating, wholly unpleasant experience. When I compared this to PCC Market in-person cooking class that are priced similarly, the experience with PCC is completely the opposite. The instructor and the wait staff there went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, to speak clearly, and to know the ins- and outs- of their recipes very well. Our money is well spent there and I will take PCC Market classes again, as well as recommend PCC classes to others. The opposite is true with Sur La Table classes, I don't think my husband and I will give our business to Sur La Table ever again - which is sad because we are not first time customers. I signed up for my first cooking class in November, it got cancelled which I only found out by searching for the class on their website again and calling to check. The chef seemed nice and explained they've had issues with staffing and would love to host me for another class, as it's not a typical occurrence. I book again for January and checked the website a few days before to make sure it's still listed on the schedule. Yesterday, I drove 40 minutes to find that this class was cancelled too. I did not receive any notification. The woman who worked there was uncaring and unhelpful about the situation. I'm severely disappointed and unfortunately I will not be booking another class or supporting the Kirkland location again. read more

I first discovered this store while in vacation in Santa Monica (I was in my happy place looking for solid kitchen items). I found two locations and have made substantial purchases over the past two years in either the Seattle or Kirkland stores). I find this location in Kirkland to be the most convenient and my experiences have been positive up until my last visit. The customer service was less than stellar and I feel like the dude who checked me out had an attitude. It makes me question whether I'll go back there or not. My other experiences have always been positive and left me wanting to return. I will probably venture into Seattle for a better experience. read more

The salesman took the cheesecloth from me then proceeded to answer the phone and completely ignore me and turn his back to me. I got tired of waiting and left. This is for their cooking class. I love love this store in general, but pretty pricey kitchen items. Check their sales out whenever though! I took the Explore Italy: Great Sauces cooking class. There was a weeks worth of classes that was half off and this was one of them ($34). 5 people in the class. 2 hrs long w/ one break. We made pesto bruschetta, pasta w/ puttanesca sauce, green beans, and chicken Marsala. It goes by pretty fast. I don't know how much I picked up, but it was fun and the food was good and light! Everything is pre measured for you and laid out. They also sorta sell their products to you. It's nice because you can see how useful a kitchen item is through this class. For example, I wanted to get a digital thermometer now because of the chicken Marsala we made. And it's readily available in the store. Why not a 5 star? 1) Catching a class half off is rare. So $70 for the class is way too much for me. 2) The instructor didn't even let us eat all the food. Not sure what she was saving it for of if she would just toss it. For the price of a class, I expect to be full! You get all the recipes in a little packet to bring home. Also 10% off coupon to the store for attending the class (expires a week from the date of the class). For full price, I'd have to really be serious about the cooking class topic. Had to return a merchandise that I bought online to the store. The item had a defect and the online customer service instructed me to return it to the store for convenience. This was one of the worst experiences I've had. The store worker was arguing with me trying to convince me that I'm lying about the item for 30 minutes. His attitude was extremely rude and he was doing this in front of everyone else in the store. Not only I will never set foot in this store, I'll also refrain from buying anything from Sur La Table if I can find the same item in other stores. read more

In fine print at the bottom they list the many exclusions, including direct from vendor for items they do not even have in store, and they tax the shipping amount. This review is for my experience in the past 2 months with this Sur La Table location. There has been a change in management recently as I was told over the phone. I attempted to schedule a cooking class event. Each time the manager let me know they would follow up and give me a call back at a certain time, but they never did. This happened probably 5 times where I ended up having to chase after the manager and play phone tag. Eventually I gave up on hosting an event here and never heard from the manager. Previously I had great experiences with cooking class here! Hopefully something changes but with current management it doesn't appear as if service is a priority. read more

My sister and I attended the Julia Child Cooking class at Sur La Table on August 14th with Chef Peter. The class was held at the Kirkland store. Menu was cheese soufflé, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, white wine seared scallops and chocolate mousse. Four cooking stations were separated nicely with four people at each station giving each person ample room to participate, try new cooking tools and cooking techniques. Chef Peter displayed patience and showed passion for his art. He gave excellent cooking tips honed after years in the kitchen- knife skills, food prep tips, money saving tips and presentation tips. The class also had helpers constantly cleaning up after us. We never felt rushed, finished on time and the meal was a full meal and delicious. We received 10% discount on any purchase at the store and a new addition 2023, Julia Child The French Chef hard bound cook book. Great time, great value. read more

When I requested a replacement they said it was unavailable ... when I asked for a refund I was told to drive 45 minutes round trip to Sur La Table in Kirkland, or to find proper packaging and drive to UPS and stand in line to ship it back to them. Literally one of my favorite stores in the whole world. Cooking and baking is a huge hobby of mine, so Sur La Table is like a fantasy play land for me! They have everything that you can possible need or want to fulfill your culinary dreams. There is a section for everything. Cookware, baking, coffee machines, cutlery, etc.. There is even a section for specialty and unique items such as truffle oil and fleur de sel. When I come here i generally come alone because I can spend hours here and spend a ridiculous amount of money...they really should have a rewards card! They do have great sales here a couple times a year. They also have a lot of markdown and sale items in store as well. If you sign up for the mailing list you'll know when sales are, they also send you a birthday coupon, which is nice. I have taken a couple classes here and they are pretty fun and informative. I really liked the Thai cooking class, i no joke learned how to make the BEST peanut sauce! The Kirkland location is my favorite one. Its nice and big and does not feel as cluttered as the Seattle location. Service is nice and helpful. There is also plenty of parking on the streets and in the lot across the street so it makes it more convenient. I walked in and said hello to the cashier: a bald man wearing a Sriracha hot sauce brand mask. He didnt say hello back. Then I walked around and no one asked me if I needed help. After spotting some half polyester oven mitts I went to the counter and asked if they had oven mitts that are 100% cotton. They said no without even bothering to check. I put some boxed Fortessa silverware in my basket that I needed. I walked around and found more oven mitts that were 100% cotton in the sale isle so I was deciding which to get when I turned around and the older white lady that originally was at the counter had come over and was looking over my shoulder like I was stealing something. I was wearing a sun dress with no pockets so where would I even hide something? I had a diaper backpack cuz my husband was outside with the baby but honestly following a customer around in such an obvious way without even asking if they need help is awful. So I put everything on the check out counter and walked out. These people suck at customer service. They're rude, unhelpful, and I wont spend $200+ here for the way I was treated.
