Dang, I regret not knowing about this place for the past four years of driving by it. I thought it was some kind of restaurant supply store and not a "food" one. I don't think everything is lower cost versus at a regular grocery store though, but you can find some really cheap things here, especially bulk size. What I think is the jackpot though are the flavored syrup. I normally go to Home Goods and hope for the best what brand/flavors are available. There was a whole one-sided aisle of syrups here. You're not going to find everything here like a regular store or even Costco, but it's worth checking it out. This is a restaurant supply business (formerly Cash and Carry). They sell things like takeout containers, commercial kitchen supplies, packaged commercial kitchen food items, produce, meats, and frozen foods...all focused on restaurant use and restaurant quantities. It's a warehouse store that does not require a membership, though you'll pay sales tax without a business license and valid use of what you're purchasing as ingredients in some retail product you're selling. Still, good place to get larger quantities of certain items you may want even for a home kitchen. We use the takeout containers all the time to send food home with guests. We buy the paper ones, so we never have to worry about guests returning them and they are more environmentally friendly (they sell styrofoam containers too, if that's your thing). Be aware that while many items here are great bargains, probably an equal number really aren't any better pricing than what you'll find a a grocery chain. So, shop carefully. read more

Love this place , I didn't knew the place till the time my freind suggest to visit and now I just use this instead of Fredmyer or QFC . I love their fresh coconut (It was great super fresh ) , cauliflower ( defiantly wort the buy as they sell per pieces unlikely price per lb in other stores) Frozen desserts were good specially frozen cream puff is great with many different flavors of puff. Disappointed on this visit. I've been coming to this location for the past several years under three different company name changes: Cash n Carry, Food Service of America (I think that was the name) and now US Foods Chef Store. The shelves were not filled like they had been in the past. There were a lot of empty spaces on the shelves and the quality of the produce has gone down. There were several different fruits and or vegetables that had browned, were rotten, or just visually unappealing. They were out of stock of various deli containers, lids, aluminum food storage containers and other products scattered throughout the store. The best section in the store was the refrigerated bulk meats. That looked amazing. I was lucky enough to find a few of the items on my list. And on the bright side, the staff was very friendly and helpful trying to help me locate what I was looking for. I hope they can get it together and fix the issues because it seems to have gone down hill. read more

This store was originally named Cash & Carry. Inside lots of food and supply items could be found. They sold these items at retail prices below the restaurant standard. I often shop their kitchenette products, fresh produce and yolky eggshells. I feel like it's a foundation of other retailers such as Costco or Sam's club. FYI: This used to be called Cash & Carry. No difference inside. Only name change. Smart Foodservice is intended to provide food and supply services to the restaurant industry. Inside, you'll find food items, some in bulk, some as standalone, cooking items, servers, industrial napkins and small items paper supplies. If you're someone that has large family gatherings and wish you have some of the items you see in restaurants, this is the place to go. It's not a Costco, which clearly has redefined itself to be family size goods and products, including home groups. This is perhaps the early Costco. Some of the individual items are incredibly cost competitive. The Italian soda syrup (see photo) is only $4.94 vs. $7 to $9 in a typical grocery store. On average, I find the prices to be better here than in grocery stores. Meats, seafoods, and diary tend to be bigger size. But they have 1/2 gallon size milk too. No fresh counters. Everything is packaged. The frozen section is huge in the back. I'm looking forward to digging into the mud pie ice cream cake. (see photo) I wouldn't rely on this store for daily shopping. Love this place. We go here to restock a coffee stand few times a week. They have everything we need at decent wholesale prices and their employees are very informed. Whenever I ask when new shipments of syrup or smoothie mixes are coming, they know. It's impressive to have knowledgeable employees. Overall great place. For the most part, they're pretty decent about posting signs about masks. It's not always enforced though as I've definitely seen ppl walk by still and not wear masks. And it's up to you to wipe the carts (which they do provide wet wipes for). But overall I feel safe here. Great place to consider for your business needs. read more

Updating...been back in here a few times...This is an ACTUAL wholesale store, unlike Costco which gloms retail packages together in bulk with earth-harming plastic wrap etc. Prices here, nonetheless, can be higher than some discount stores (like Fred Meyer) but being able to buy in bulk would appeal to the target shopowners who want a decent price, clean store, low traffic and quick in/out service. The 'hot sheet' has some great deals. You need to be savvy shopper who knows prices in the area and able to do the mental gymnastics to calculate comparable per unit costs. That said, You WILL find some real bargains. Example: Beaver horseradish - $1.89 at FredMeyer, $1.09 here. You do NOT need a biz license or membership to shop here. read more

Shopping at Cash & Carry may require some shoppers to master the art of pantry and freezer Tetris. This grocery chain mainly targets the restaurant businesses and yet appeals to the everyday consumer. There are items that can be purchased individually and most are in bulk. This weekend is their grand opening and as expected there is a decent amount of shoppers perusing through each aisle. Hot buys and Deals are displayed at the end caps. I also recommend visiting the freezer section for sale items. We walked away spending only $45.00 in various frozen foods and some canned goods. Don't forget to check out the kitchen ware aisle. They carry typical restaurant items such as pans, whisks, and even chefs aprons. They also have a decent selection produce. This is a good alternative to Costco if you are in the Bothell/Kenmore area. read more

We had the good fortune to visit this store opening last Spring when it was Cash and Carry. Now, they've changed the name, tho essentially it's the same place. I fondly think of Smart Foodservice as a smaller version of big box retailer Costco. Great news is: you don't need a membership to shop at Smart! Smart Foodservice appeals to the "bulk quantity" grocery shopper. Many items in large quantities and generally the prices are in line with Costco. But.......some are not, (and often higher) so you really need to watch the price tags. I enjoy going up and down the aisles to see what items they sell. I recently purchased a 5 lb. bag of lemons at Smart for $4 while at Costco, the price was double at $8. Smart offers a wonderful cold section of meat, cheese and dairy. Portions are larger than you'd purchase at the regular grocery store, but if you have a large family or run a restaurant, shopping at Smart is well worth the effort. This place is like a mini Costco for food items. The meats are of decent quality, larger quantities than grocery stores and great frozen food selection. My favorite thing they have there is the Lazarri lump coal. The price is very inexpensive and the lump coal quality is great. The selection of disposable service wear is also a bonus. Another favorite for the family is the lemonade concentrate, not top notch but great for general household use and less than frozen concentrate prices at the grocery store. Overall there are bargains to be had at this store and especially if you do not want to wait in the long lines at Costco. The parking is good and the customer service has been friendly and helpful. I keep getting confused since they dropped Cash & Carry as their storefront name. Smart Foodservice Stores have been around since ancient times. In the beginning they were wholesale only, but now they are open to everyone and without a membership. This Bothell location as two things different from their other locations - small carts and a few more consumer shopping items. I have shopped at the Lynnwood and Bellevue store many times when we owned our pizza shop so I was familiar with them when they opened this location. This new store is a slightly different layout from the other two, but stocks all the same great items. Some people equate this to a mini-Costco, but their main focus is on small restaurants and convenience store - more like the Costco Business center in Lynnwood. The big difference is they have restaurant quality meats at much lower prices than any Costco and they have sale prices on some items. Unless you are a restaurant, the meats are the only sale items you will most likely want to buy. If you are into BBQ, then shop for your meats here. I have gotten great prices on brisket and pork belly. One of their cuts you won't find anywhere else are Pork Cushions. It is usually a lot less expensive than other cuts and I find it very versatile. The Pork Cushion is a deboned cut from the pork shoulder. I slice it into steaks, chop it for stir fries, and smoke it for pulled pork. They have a large selection of frozen food service items along the back wall, but be sure to look inside the freezer for more items. read more

I feel like I've discovered a treasure! First of all, this store is immaculate, its so well merchandised and so clean! But the prices are amazing. If someone shops at Costco and buys in bulk they HAVE TO go to Cash & Carry first. Their meat prices are insane. $1.57lb for pork butt roast, 9.97lb for Choice Ribeye! Now you do have to buy quite a bit, but if you have a large or extra freezer this is the way to go! Large cheesecakes for 9.97, gourmet ice cream, cheese, OMG cheese! Their prices on milk and cheese products are better than anywhere else and you don't have to buy in extra large bulk amounts. I bought a wedge of parmigiano reggiano for $5.57lb! Wow! The raw meat does have to be cut, for instance, the ribeye comes in a very large roast, so if you want steaks you'll need to get your good butcher knife out and slice it into steaks, but so what! Forget the "way too busy" membership store, and stop into Cash & Carry for the sheer convenience and savings. Plenty of parking right near the front door makes this an easy in and out experience. One of the best lesser known grocery stores. Prices on fruit are just ok, but for meat, cheese, and frozen goods this place if off the charts cheap. This place is a great alternative to Costco for grocery items. Their prices are very good, the selection is great, and most food you can buy either in bulk or in regular size packaging. I went during the day time in the middle of the week and it wasn't very busy. The store was immaculately clean. The only down side is that they don't have traditional shopping carts, just those mini carts and big flat bed carts, so there was no way for me to corral my toddlers while shopping. Having my kids running around the store made the shopping experience less pleasant and I left without exploring the entire store. read more

Only giving one star since zero isn't possible. Store was fine, assistant manager Marshall shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the public or in any leadership capacity. An item was advertised in the shelf for $59. It rang up at $93. The cashier (Conner) was awesome. He walked back to the item location and checked the price with me. When we got back to the cash register, Conner informed Marshall of the error. Marshall said "it's not our fault, the tag clearly has an expiration date of 9/18". As today is 9/20, it would seem the assistant store manager would opt to apologize for their error. But alas, NO. I was told I could "Take it up with my manager on Monday, because he doesn't work on the weekends". Is it really my responsibility as the customer to read the expiration date of all advertised items in the store. No apology, no making it right, no going back to this store. Marshall is an angry young man, who is an embarrassment to his store and the brand. read more
