This Harbor Freight is one of my regular, go-to stops for shop basics and project supplies. If I'm starting something new or realize I'm missing something mid-project, this is usually one of my stops. I'm in here all the time for the essentials: gloves, those foam paint thing for stain, foam pads (also for stain.. can you tell I like to stain things?), tarps. All kinds of consumables you don't want to overpay for. They're consistently stocked, easy to grab, and priced right. Where this location really shines, though, is staff and tools. The staff are great, always helpful. Harbor Freight has come a long way, and the value is hard to beat. Especially for air tools! Solid performance at prices that make it easy to expand your setup without overthinking it. I recently picked up an orange rolling tool chest on sale and honestly couldn't be happier with it. Sturdy, smooth drawers, and an incredible deal for what you get. Also worth calling out: the Apache hard cases. These things are fantastic. I use them to keep gear dry, protected, and organized, and they punch way above their price point. No frills, no nonsense. Just good prices, useful gear, and a store that makes it easy to get in, get what you need, and get back to work. MAX WENT ABOVE & BEYOND! This is a shout out to their employee, Max, who went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me with my purchase of my Pittsburgh (brand) "32 piece screwdriver set with tweezers" and also "34 piece precision screwdriver", both of which cost about 20 bucks. FOILED LASKO'S ANTI-DIY MACHINATIONS! Here's the deal, I needed one of those weird screwdrivers in order to take apart my Lasko space heater. When companies don't want you to DIY fix their products, they install hex, torx, or in my case, a triangle headed screw, instead of the regular Phillips head or slotted screws. That way, it forces you to have to buy a new one, unless you go out and buy the special type of tool required to take their wares apart (so neener neener neener on Lasko) OPENING PRODUCT TO DEMO CAN DEPRECIATE, BUT MAX SEZ "NO BIG", WHICH I APPRECIATE Anyway, I asked Max if he could open the product so I can see if it will work with my application. Long story short, it turns out the screwdriver set had the right type of triangle insert bit. But it could not reach down into the deep screw hole. So Max showed me the precision screwdriver which had an extension so I could reach down into that screw hole. This is so that I could remove the back of the space heater so that I could vacuum out all the dust that accumulated in there. ACTUALLY, LONG STORY MADE LONGER Oh hell, Max was so good I'll make the story longer! He offered to remove the screws that I needed to have removed out of my space heater (which I brought in) without having to buy anything. I thanked him, but I had another space heater just like it at home. So rather than go home and get the other space heater to take him up on his offer, I just simply bought those items. WEIRD SCREWS OK FOR DANGEROUS TO DIY "NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE" ITEMS, BUT OTHERWISE SCREWY IDEA! Harbor freight corporate, if you're reading this, give Max a raise! And Lasko corporate, and for that matter, all you companies that try to foil DIYers from doing even the simplest and safest repairs and cleaning, know that you are needlessly adding to the landfill problem for the sake of profits! I always considered Harbor Freight Tools to be a more approachable Home Depot. I may not find everything I want. I may not even want to buy the item even if I find it. But the wandering and looking is worthwhile when I do find a few items. Almost always, the prices are excellent for whatever items I do decide to purchase. I always go with the coupon book that I receive in the mail; rumor is that the prices of the home-flyers are sometimes better than the store-flyers. I generally focus on the non-electrical tools. It can be quite a "candy shop" to wander all the aisles looking for things I didn't even know I want. This most recent visit resulted in several LED lanterns that are brilliantly bright, extra pair of needle nose pliers, picks, and more. Didn't know there was one around these parts. Found a couple items for a great price. While we were there, there was an upset customer and however it was handled somehow turned into an almost fight (shouting, posturing, "you don't want a piece of this" chest puffing, etc.) and maybe it was unavoidable but maybe it was--all I know is it lasted about 10 minutes and was a bit uncomfortable being a customer stuck in the store while the fight happened, not know how far it might escalate and it occurring near the entrance between me and escape. I'm sure it doesn't happen often, but this was my experience visiting Harbour Freight. read more

People there are nice, helpful and they are well stocked most of the time (shout out specifically to Ruben who helped me track down a hard to find item). HF also ways has good stuff at a good price. My son in law has been ordering parts and working on a vintage Jeep. Every bit of work he has done has been thoroughly researched and successfully completed. He needed a small butane torch to heat a bolt for removal. No less than 4 associates at this store ridiculed him, saying that he didn't know what he was doing after they misdirected him to welding equipment. We will not be using this store again. read more

The store manager was extremely rude and condescending during a return. I went to the store to help my elderly father with a return and asked what the manager would do next time should the same mistake occur because what happened was unacceptable. I referred to the manager as "sir" because I didn't know his name or position at the time. However...the manager was offended to be referred to as sir (because that's his dad or granddad) then even went as far to say, "I have other things to do so I watched my supervisor check the item. You come to my store and call me a liar in my own store but not actually saying the words really because you are twisting words all sophisticated. Should I just wheel it to your house next time so you can check?" Umm...yea...no thank you, sir. How about instead of getting defensive try something like, "I'm sorry that wasn't ok, we made a mistake. We will do better by actually doing what we said we would do." Had that happened, I would have gladly posted a glowing review about how well the store handled the issue. I can understand if you can't offer a discount as a gesture of goodwill but there is no need to be that rude and defensive when a customer asks for a clarification on what happened and asks how you plan to prevent it from happening again. I have never ever received such poor customer service or even run into such a rude manager. I don't shop at Harbor Freight myself but my father and several of my friends are (or were) huge fan of Harbor Freight until I told them about this experience. I never will shop at the store but I highly suggest avoiding this particular store in the future. read more

First, my observations about Harbor Freight in general: The equipment they sell isn't always great quality, but when "good enough" is good enough, it's great at the price. If I'm looking for a weird tool I'm only going to use a little, and I'm not going to use it for precision work, the low prices are great. Of course, if you're buying a tool you will use a lot (like the flooring nailgun I used to be put bamboo in my whole house), you want something sturdy that is comfortable to use. If you're doing precision work (like fancy furniture), you want a precise tool. (If you are on a tight budget, some of their tools can be adjusted or modified for precision work, but they usually aren't right out of the box. Search for details on the net.) Their coupon mailings - which come in the mail through several general mailing lists even if you're not on their mailing list - typically include one for 20% off a single item, so the low prices are even lower. And on to my impression of this store: The staff here are just about always helpful. They know their way around the store, and can usually show you to something you are trying to find. Often they can tell what tool to use for a task, even if you don't know what it's called. But sometimes when they're trying to help find something that the store is out of, doesn't stock any more, or never had, they'll keep searching for it where it would be if they had it, instead of knowing when it's time to say, "I don't think we have that here." Another good thing about this store is that if you leave some coupon at home, or recycled them with the other bulk mail, you can say, "I lost my coupon", and they'll find one in their stack of flyers. Even the 20% off coupons. Finally, I'm not sure whether it's this store or the company in general, but the return policy is great: 90 days with receipt, or without receipt as long as they have enough information to look up the purchase. That's true for items that come back like new (such as the flooring nailgun I tried that either shot nails completely through my floorboards and blasted them to splinters or didn't get them in far enough) or those that I used for a few days and decided that they weren't good enough (like a table saw that didn't have the precision I needed). Like-new stuff goes back on the shelf once they make sure everything is there; visibly used stuff goes back to the warehouse for reconditioning. So as long as you're shopping with the understanding that Harbor Freight is the place for great prices on good-enough tools, it's a five-star "Woohoo! As good as it gets!", even if the tools they sell generally range from two stars ("Meh. I've experienced better.") to three stars ("A-OK.") read more

This is definitely one place I need to go in with a shopping list and wear blinders as I pick up the items on my list. I typically end up with one or two more items than I intended to purchase. They have the absolute best price on tools. But you get what you pay for. Some of their power tools won't last as long as their name brand counterparts, but then you are paying a 10th of the price. If I need a power tool for only a few uses it is cheaper than renting. Their non-power tools, are reliable and I have saved a ton of money over the traditional places like Home Depot or Sears. read more

This is like a candy store for tool lovers. It has a little bit of everything. I personally went here as I was building my home earthquake kit and they actually have really good prices for all those things they tell you that you should have in a kit, duct tape, tarps, gloves etc, etc etc. They also have odd things like dog toys??? The check-out lines were long when I was there and it seemed like having more people checking people out would make it move faster. Harbor Freight continues to operate under primitive merchandise handling standards. It is not possible to determine availability of products online. This can only be done by phone. HF will not ship to a closer store. Wishing to avoid driving around for 4x Daytona wheel dollies #64601, I placed my order online since HF was offering them at discount ($30 off $129). 3 weeks later, I was advised by email that there is no expectation that the order will be filled due to shortage from their supplier. When I checked the status of my order online, I saw "Unable to Fulfill." HF correspondence indicated that my order had been cancelled. Naturally, I was concerned when a charge was made to my credit card 1000 miles away by Harbor Freight. I initiated a dispute though my credit card provider. Following up by phone, I contacted HF. Imagine my surprise when the rep informed me that 2x dollies (half of my order) had been shipped to me. This put the onus on me to call and drive around to pick up the unfilled 2x dollies I needed to support my car. Having determined by phone that HF in Bellevue had several dollies on the shelf, I drove there to secure the 2 dollies. I presented printouts of my order to store manager Kelly. She absorbed my long winded explanation of cluster-bleep and understood the situation clearly. She had no problem honoring the sale price from a month back and selling me 2 dollies. The prices can't be beat, but I just had an annoying/unpleasant experience there: I ordered a miter saw (among other items) from their website. The shipment arrived today and the miter saw was back ordered. Bummer. I called this store (it's closest to me) and found out they had 23 in stock and they honored the same coupon codes. Perfect. So I drive down there. Get the saw. Everyone's been very helpful up to this point. Then it happens: As I'm checking out, the employee says "I probably shouldn't tell you this, but..." and then proceeds to tell me what a horrible piece of junk the item I'm buying is, how he's had 90% of them returned, etc...finishing (of course) with a sales pitch for an extended warranty. I asked the guy how long the normal warranty was, and he said 90 days. I said really, I'm fine without spending $50 on the extended warranty (the saw was on sale for $129). The friendly pretense drops and he glares at me. "Okay then" he says in an I-told-you-so voice, and resumes punching buttons. He finished ringing me up, hands me the receipt, and, as I start heading towards the door (he's making no move to walk the 6 feet over to open the door for me as I'm struggling to wheel this giant miter saw box out to my car), looks at me and says "Day 91 and it's all yours". Uh...ok. Thanks buddy. WTF? Does that sales pitch ever work on anybody? Tell your customers that you're selling junk and they'd better buy the extended warranty? I find this super skeezy, and it did not at all make me feel good about shopping there. In fact, I'm a bit angry at how I was treated, and am unlikely to go back. read more

This is the place to man up. At this point in my life, I've never bought a complete set of tools since they were too expensive. Consequently, I never got my hands dirty working on my car or bike. Until, I discovered Harbor Freight. This place is *cheaper* than your local Home Depot or Lowes. I stumbled across this store when my motorcycle shifter fell off; to make things worse, when I forcibly jammed and screwed it in, I completely stripped off the thin, soft aluminum inner threads. Yes, it was horrible. Enter Harbor Freight. I talked to the manager (Chris) about my noobish situation, he chuckled and told me exactly what I needed to do. He even went through the trouble of selecting out each and every tool/fluid/locktite/etc I needed to fix the situation. For example, I needed some wrenches to adjust the pivot nut. He brought out a set to the parking lot, opened the set, and VERIFIED the wrench was the right size (suzuki's have weird metric bolts). I am incredibly impressed with the level of service Chris went through. I'm not sure if it's the norm, and would never have expected such help. I went through the procedure he recommended, degreasing, wire brushing, and lubricating all the proper parts and pieces. Put everything together, and wow, solid fix. Due to his foresight, I even had the pumice hand soap to wash away the thick mechanical goo from my hands. On top of that, their prices are about 1/4 the price of lowes/home depot. Since I live in Renton, the Kent store is closer. However, my office is in Kirkland, so this location works for me, too. I was trying to catch the deal of a riveter for less than $3 at the Kent store, but they were always out every time I was there. Then I decided to check out the Bellevue store and they had five in stock! I wanted to grab all five because I was so overjoyed (after being disappointed by the Kent store for three months), but I calmed down and bought just one. Other things I like about this store: clean, bright, plenty of parking spaces (unlike the Kent store), and friendly staff. From now on, this Harbor Freight store will be the place I get my cheap made in China tools. read more

And there were some great deals that I couldn't resist. For example, got a new sliding miter saw for about the same price as what it would have costed on CraigsList for an used one! The best part about their mailers is that it always has a 20%-25% off single item code (on top of their already affordable prices), as well as a few items that's simply free (no purchase needed, though I've never picked up these freebies) You can also just take a picture of the coupon and show them the code; that's all they need. read more

They love not knowing and not walking. They prefer you just grab the items and pay. The service was never great. And likely nobody expects it at the price point. Nobody ever walked me to an item after I asked, in 3, 4 trips. But today was particularly unsatisfying. I asked a cashier about one thing. He looked it up briefly, said he needed to let someone pay. After the person paid, I thought it was my turn. But he moved onto the next. So I asked another person about a different item, who looked as if he had to solve a quantum physics problem. Fine he didn't know. But he was not even sure he knew or not. After at least 10 minutes, when there were 4 staff and only me, they were discussing my item, and mixed up the item. None of them tried to help me. Finally the item was 8 feet away from the first cashier on a shelf. I said I didn't like how I was kept waiting and the cashier did not know much about their products. The manager quickly defended their ignorance. I will not be back again. I was never really comfortable there, now just feel yucky. Far better service at HD. In HD, When they don't know, they tried to find out or at least say something definitive. They don't stand there with a confused look, hoping the question answers itself. Truly awful place. I bought a few power tools and this happened: 1. Originally charged for two angle grinders on accident, instead of angle grinder and battery. 2. Also purchased an impact wrench, torque ratings were way off, returned for 1/2" version. 3. Lazy associate didn't have the app for inside track member, refused to get someone who had it, paid an extra $20 because it was on sale. 4. Ended up returning everything because once again the tools did not meet the claimed torque ratings at all. Employee verifys my card it's going back onto, then proceeds to refund me to temporary gift cards I had thrown out. Says I'm SOL, nothing she can do. Store Manager said the same. 5. I noticed she only refunded me for 3 items, not 4 that I handed her. She didn't refund the battery and said she didn't want to because she didn't know what card it would go on. She wanted me to keep the battery when I returned all the tools. The laziness at this location as some have mentioned is real. I watched one girl work on a return as two others watched her. Lots of standing around, laziness, and zero accountability. The $190 I spent on a 1/2" Bauer impact, battery, and charger.... Well I was able to pick up a better one for $99 at home depot. They don't carry everything you'd find at Lowe's or Home Depot's tools and hardware sections, but you can find similar items here for about three quarter the price. I bought a stud finder here that really wasn't that great. I brought it back and they exchanged it happily and were very cordial. This place is great! Been here a few times for hard to find items and replacement tools. I save a lot of money on items I need but don't use much. I've only gotten smaller goods; hammers, wrenches, safety gear, testers so I can't speak on the quality of the higher end items such as power tools and compressors. However, they do have a good selection along with tool cabinets, automotive equipment and more. I recommend that if you are in the market for a high quality tool you should invest in a well known manufacturer as most of these items come from overseas usually China. Non-tool loving Ladies, think of it like Ross or Marshall's but for tools. You get some incredible deals but it's not going to be Louis Vuitton. It's actually really hard to not buy more then I came in for because I'm always finding things I can use or great sidewalk sales. This place makes you want a bigger garage... or maybe just a garage in the first place. read more

This place is great for tools on the cheap, even obscure ones. As an example I got a chain puller for my moped. All of them are no-name brands and made in China, and it is usually of acceptable but not outstanding quality. I needed a very large size allen wrench. I only needed one, but even after buying the whole set at Harbor Freight it was still less than a single wrench would have been at Sears (and they would have had to order it). The chain puller bent after a couple uses, but that was all I needed it for, so for minimal cost I got the job done. My only disappointment was a 12v air compressor - the connector for the hose fell apart the first time I tried to use it, and was not repairable. Be sure to keep your receipts just in case you get a dud product. One oddity was when I wanted pipe clamps - they had the clamp parts, but no pipes to make them actually work, necessitating a trip to a 2nd store that sells pipes (and likely also sells pipe clamps). Don't expect knowledgeable help, if you can even find an employee beyond the cashier with the backed up line. Just remind yourself that you're not paying much and customer service costs money. This place isn't Nordstrom, and sometimes cheap stuff with no help is exactly what you need. read more

Well, I've decided I will not be a customer anymore. I've been loyal to Harbor Freight Tools for over 5 years. But, the last 3 or 4 encounters have been disappointing. The main problem is the service. I've notice the there's a lack of people skills. My last trip, I looked around, then came back to the register and asked if they had the latest flyer. The cashier looked at the other cashier and smirked, we haven't had flyers in over a year, then laughed at me. I responded, well I guess things have changed due to covid. The cashier's name is Alexander. Then, I bought a hand sander on sale. I didn't realize the box didn't have any sand paper, so I wasted part of my planned weekend. I looked at other stores and they have sanders around the same price with sand paper. So, instead of buying sand paper at Harbor to go with the cheap hand sander, instead, I've decided I've had enough of Harbor all together. I'm not sure why Harbor has gone down hill, but there's plenty of competition and I am taking my spending elsewhere. read more

Update August 13: After dealing with the unhappy, somewhat rude girl described below (20s, long, black curly hair), I decided not to do business here and look somewhere else. I actually found a bigger trailer for $50 more at Northern Tool. So in a way, I have to say thank you to this miserable lady. Because of her, I found something better and took my business somewhere else. Note to management if they ever read this. This is what happens when you have a miserable, unhappy employee who takes it out on customers. ************************* This is the last time I will go to the Bellevue store, and perhaps Harbor Freight ever again. The story below happened today, July 24, 2015, between about 8 and 8:30 pm at their Bellevue location behind Fred Meyer. I go there occasionally to look at sales and see what they have. Just like everybody else. Even though I can always find employees, it is rare that anybody asks if they can help, and I have had people walk away as I approach. Today was a new low. They had a trailer on ad that I wanted. I stopped in earlier today and talked to a younger guy, skinny, with glasses. He was fine, asked if he could help, and told me they should have several in stock. I wasn't ready to buy right then so I thanked him for helping me and left. This evening I decided to go back and get it. I went in and the same young guy was working the register. I told him I wanted to get the trailer, so he called to the back and asked a coworker if she could bring it up. According to him, they had several in stock. I have seen this lady there before. Don't know her name since I didn't see a name tag. She is in her 20s, a little heavy, with long, black, curly hair. She has been in there many times when I have gone in. NEVER smiles, always looks unhappy, and when I have checked out with her, she is monotone and acts like it is such an inconvenience. She started the paperwork while he went to look for the trailer. He was unable to find it, so he asked her to look. She huffed and puffed and said she would go look. Shortly after she came back and said they didn't have any. I asked why their database showed 5 if they don't have them. Those were just the wheels. WHAT? Aren't the wheels part of the whole kit? During the short time we talked, she never once smiled, said "gee sorry", or gave any indication that she gave a damn whatsoever. Finally, she said she would check if other stores in the area had it. Apparently a few did. I asked her, wait a minute, the computer shows you have it but you don't, so how do I know they will have it? What she said floored me. "I can give you their number if you want to call." WAIT...hold on... if *I* want to call? Don't YOU work here? Aren't YOU getting paid to work here? I'm the customer. Isn't this YOUR job to call other stores for product availability? I did not say any of that, I just thought it, because I could not believe an employee would actually say that. She said I can call if I want it even though she was standing in front of a terminal and a phone. She didn't make any further effort, and by her voice and absolutely lack of any expression, she was truly being inconvenienced. At this point just said thank you and walked out. I will definitely NEVER return to this Harbor Freight again, and maybe no others either. This 20s, long, dark, curly hair (I should have asked her name) girl really had a "I don't give a damn" attitude, and like I said before, I have seen here there many times, and she never smiled or seem to give a damn about anything. These days when I buy tools, I'm looking for good customer service. I found that at Harbor Freight when I went to buy air tools recently. The manager spent about 20 minutes explaining everything I needed and all of the differences in all of the compressors that they had. I'm a huge fan. What I can't find in the store, I can always find on the website. :) The only thing to remember is that the tools they sell are not top of the line. But you're not paying for it. And when it comes to losing screw drivers on a job site I feel a lot better about a decent harbor frieght set, than I do about losing a craftsman. read more

Great Harbor Freight Tools with wonderful service. It's my first time to this location yesterday and the cashier was great.

I looooooove Harbor Freight. When I lived in Chicago I would drive, literally, an hour each way just to get to the one way on the South Side, so I am thrilled to have one just on the other side of 520 for me to go to. This place is like a (cheap) candy store (of questionable quality) for people who like tools. Sure their stuff doesn't compare to Snap-On, but at 1/10th the price, who cares? And they also have some just plain cool gizmos. Why today I just picked up a cool thing to check how much spark a spark-plug has and a comically huge cast iron frying pan for under $20. Not a fan of Harbor Freight tools but this place is well organized than their other stores I visited. My coworker wanted to browse here for some air tool attachments. The quality of their tools are usually an one time use and throw away. The socket sets look ok. I don't own any of them but my brother in law does. The tolerance can be iffy, they have a little more slop than a better quality tool. They have a lifetime replacement but that can be a hassle if you break a tool in a middle of a job. Forget Sears, their tools are made in China. A little better but at a high price for what you get. read more

I love this place, I was so happy to find out there was one here when I moved from Albany NY cause we had one and I was worried I would have to go back to buying stuff way too expensive again from places like Home depot. They have a huge selection and great products. I have never had a problem with anything I have bought from here and I buy ALOT! Easy return policy too, bought things got them home realized oh crap this isnt what I thought it was and with receipt within 30 days no hassle. read more
