Since moving to Cap Hill last month, I've visited this store various times for help with different repairs around my new apartment and every time the employees are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. When I was struggling to mount a shelf, I got advice from one of the employees who was super friendly and explained to me exactly how to screw in the L brackets I was struggling with. He walked me over to the aisle and showed me exactly which screws would and wouldn't work for my project and explained to me how the screws would interact with different wall materials. Most recently I dropped by just before they closed to pick up drywall paste and a pallette knife. Despite me walking in ten minutes before they were supposed to shut, they didn't make me feel rushed at all and helped me find what I was looking for. I always prefer supporting a local business and I love having a neighbourhood hardware supply store I can count on with employees who feel kinda like family. read more

Pacific Supply is a real neighborhood hardware treasure on the Capitol Hill. The employees are always well-informed, welcoming, and truly helpful people, the sort of service that you will not receive in the mega stores. They stock an unexpectedly good range of goods considering it is a local store, not very high prices, and even a senior discount. The parking is not that bad, however, the 30-minute load zone in front can help. Any small project or hardware, we are a dependable and community-oriented store. read more

I have to admit that I've got a thing for hardware stores. This is a good size store and has always had exactly what I've needed. Their prices are competitive with the big guys. But what they have that the others don't is great people. Nice employees who will go out of their way to help. THis past summer, I purchased a box fan. The cardboard around it was on the thin side. Without my asking, he tied cord around it to hold it and make it easy for me to hold. read more

What an awesome place to find the hardware and tools you need in the heart of Capitol Hill. There have been plenty-a-time when I've needed just a few screws or a certain-sized hex screwdriver and didn't want to buy an exorbitant amount or a set-package from Amazon or some other large hardware store. Living in Cap Hill, it's not like there are many hardware stores around anyway. So I came to Pacific Supply, expecting to get ripped off since it's the only hardware store in who knows how far, and yet I left incredibly pleased. The staff was incredibly helpful in showing me where to find what I needed, and the prices are very reasonable. I've been back multiple times for various hardware items, and have never left disappointed. This place is a gem, and I would highly recommend checking it out if you live in Cap Hill and need random hardware thingamabobs. read more

Pacific Supply's inventory is oriented toward maintenance and repairs of apartment rentals and residences. They have lots of cleaning supplies, lights and light bulbs, electrical outlets, cover plates, under sink garbage disposers, basic lumber, electric baseboard heaters, etc. They do not carry major appliances. John B. has been at Pacific Supply for over 30 years and manages apartments himself. He is very helpful for advice on repairing or managing rentals, personal residences, and other real estate. Doug is another long timer with a lot of good experience. I also recommend talking to Ronha, Mike, and Kevin; they are newer team members that are always willing to help. They keep neighborhood store hours, closing at 6 PM, but with personal one on one service that the big box stores can't match. They have website ordering but it is much less developed than Home Depot. read more

Love this place, I feel so testosteronized whenever I walk in the door. The paint is fantastic, found a misblended color that is perfect for the bathroom and it was gloss; so none of that yucky Seattle mold can cling to the walls, shouldn't mold be the city animal or name of some sports team? The price was great, less than 1/2 of the original. Replaced my stove drip pans for practically nothing and they have the elements, too. Just bring in the old ones and compare-no writing down a 42 number and letter serial number when you order them and have to put up with the one snippy lady at the post office when you have to send them back cause the 2 was really a 5. Love their tool bins, find all kinds of man toys. The thought of their wonderfully priced sockets just makes my tool belt droop. The guys who work there know their stuff! read more

And now thanks to both having an obscure spring and their know-how, my mortise locks are working better than ever! If you're surprised that a well-stocked, reasonably priced hardware store lives right in the busiest stretch of 12th Ave on Capitol Hill, well, that makes two of us. Pacific Supply is so conveniently close to my condo and is open every day of the week. It's a total godsend on DIY/furniture installation days since I can just walk a few minutes to pick up the screws I'm desperately in need of. The employees here are also extremely helpful. On my last visit here, we needed screws with totally level flatheads to secure a sunshade we were in the process of installing and weren't sure what the best choice was. One of the employees at the checkout counter was happy to explain the pros and cons of the various options, and even took a look at our bracket to suggest specific sizes that might work. His help was much appreciated as we were able to then quickly find the screws we needed. Overall, prices are pretty solid, and the location cannot be topped if you live in the neighborhood. The selection certainly isn't as extensive as what you'd find at, say, Home Depot, but you can't really complain for a hardware store that's right in the heart of Seattle. read more

I had a wonderful experience the other day at Pacific Supply. I am a person with a physical disability and I was acquiring parking tickets because I couldn't remove my back license plate as the screws were stripped and it was impossible for me to remove it. After several attempts and tickets, I went to the hardware store to see if they had a recommendation of a special tool or any advice for me. They said I would need vice grips. However, when the owner saw the look on my face of discouragement he said I could bring my car to their store and he would help me. He was so kind and removed my old license plate and put on my WA plate for me. It really was impactful to me as a person with a disability. I will always recommend the store. It totally renews my faith in the kindness of strangers. Thank you, sir! read more

Who doesn't love a good hardware store? Especially one smack in the middle of the Pike/Pine corridor! Instead of making my way through the traffic to a large chain retailer I can walk a block and buy light bulbs, screws, shower curtains, door knobs, heck.. even a DOOR all right in my own neighborhood. After less than a minute of walking around I was asked twice if I needed assistance. I was scoping the place out as I might be moving nearby. I can get moving boxes here too! What a sweet space. Call ahead if you're looking for something really specific. They don't have it all but they sure have a lot for a hardware store in the city. read more

Edit: I found a much better hardware store: Maple Leaf Hardware (it's an Ace Hardware). I'll never stop back in Pacific Supply, their selection is extremely limited! Do yourself a favor and take a stop in Maple Leaf Hardware and you'll see what I'm talking about. This is the most disappointing selection I've ever seen in a neighborhood hardware store. Most things I wanted they didn't have. It's a bizarre selection. You can find 1 gallon windex and industrial size brooms, but no small gas cans, no canning seals, no storage containers, no good toilet plungers, no small bags of potting soil, no small spray bottles...and on and on. I'm a fan of Ace and Do It Best stores, so I suggest finding a nearby Ace or Do It Best. I'm guessing other reviewers haven't been to many other good hardware stores. The only plus would be if you're looking for a decent selection of industrial sized cleaning supplies. I'm guessing they sell a lot to local restaurants or cleaning companies? read more

This placed used to primarily serve contractors, but in the past few years has morphed in that perfect neighborhood home improvement store. Great selection of all the stuff you actually need for the inside or outside of your house - Lightbulbs, shovels, bathroom fans, paint supplies, plumbing stuff, ladders. And none of that stuff you really don't - appliances, tons of lumber. Oh - and free parking in the back, which is basically unheard of for a store in the Pike/Pine corridor. read more

So this last Friday, my relatives gifted me their old futon for my new apartment, nice yeah? Yeah! Unfortunately, after much grunting and struggling and even some blood (!!), we could not for the life of us fit this massive bed-like thing into my apartment's elevator. My relatives had to leave, stranding me with minimal instructions- something about a hex-wrench and not losing pieces and being careful about jamming fingers...holy hell, am I in trouble. As soon as they leave, commence *full-fledge* panic mode. The apartment manager isn't a nice guy (read; total a**-hole), and I know we're not allowed to store furniture anywhere at any time. So basically, I've gotta get this futon up into my room pronto, without using an axe to hack it into a zillion pieces (very tempting at that point). I do a quick google and find Pacific Supply .6mi away. I abandon the futon mess and start running. Upon entering Pacific Supply I wind up staring at a bunch of wrenches for way too long, and finally decide that even though I struggled in math, none of them are hexagonal. I approach a worker, vaguely explain what I need and without missing a beat he leads me right to it, even giving advice on which one to buy for situations where one has no idea what's going on (aka mine). I head to the check-out counter and GET OFFERED A DONUT! When I asked 'why the donuts?', the cashier said because it's Saturday, they have donuts every Saturday. Of course! I have been to this place four times in the last week, which probably says more about my ability to plan ahead than it does anything else. Need a key made? Need some cables? Need some of do-dad to put stuff on the wall with? They've got it. So far, they've had everything I've needed and more. The employees are very helpful (and pretty cute). I thought the prices were reasonable, but then again I don't hang out at Home Depot so I'm really only comparing them to the racket going on at QFC. Pacific Supply Co is your place. It has all the household, apartment dwelling, property management supplies and accessories you need at prices that are comparable and in several cases better than what you'd find elsewhere. Plus the location is super great, they have their own parking lot, and the staff was helpful and friendly. The best thing though? They don't have too much stuff! It's the kind of place that has the best solutions for your project arranged in an organized, easy to find way. Hardware. On Capitol Hill. There's a dirty joke in there someplace. Though there's not a lot of competition nearby, these guys rule. I was there last week to get a key made, and pick up a light bulb. While I was there the staff was actively working with customers to help them: what a concept! The light bulb I selected was the wrong size. The key was perfect. I went back to get the right light bulb. I was refunded, without a receipt and got help making sure to get the right one this time. While I was being helped a man approached the counter asking to speak to a manager. "You should know that this employee of yours just talked me out of buying something, " he said. "Well, did you need it?" Asked the manager. "No, as it turns out I don't. I want to thank you!" Customer service miracles were taking place all around me and I had to leave before the tool belt clad beauties jumped from the over sized cake. By the way, the staff here could totally help you with materials to build an over-sized hollow cake suitable for springing from, I am certain. read more

Don't get keys copied here. The guy who helped me was really nice and attentive but it was $20 to make 6 keys...there was a "cutting fee" which I've never heard of or been charged before that was $10 dollars and each key was $1.70 in top of that. I had asked about how much it would be before I got them cut and was told 'not too much' and the listed key prices said .90/key and there was no signage I saw that said anything about a fee to cut the key so I was very surprised and frustrated when I got to the register. 2 stars for being friendly and fast, left feeling ripped off and upset though. Pacific Supply is a smaller, but great hardware store to checkout if you need your basic supplies. They have a decent supply and selection available for us urban dwellers and need a simple object or two to fix something and don't want to trek all the way to Home Depot. Prices are fair although a little higher than Home Depot or Lowes (but it is a much easier convenience). The staff are fantastic and have helped me as I try to figure out how to replace a shower head or how much paint I need to touch up a wall I've dinged. Definitely a place to stop by if you are in a hurry and just need a thing or two! read more

I like this place, moreover, they seem to be the only real hardware store in Capitol Hill. (Was anyone else pissed off the first time they tried to buy some screws at Hardware on Broadway and discovered it was a salon?? Oh post-modernity and your stupid misleading names.) I have had success buying sink drain covers, light bulbs, shelving hardware, rope, duct tape, and other random crap here. Their salespeople seem to know what's up, and I am impressed by the woman who works there. She's always good at answering my questions, whereas I am sadly pretty impoverished in my knowledge of this kind of stuff, and so fall into the sexist trap of mistakenly believing it's only men know how to work tools and whatever. So, you go, girl! Hopefully I can pick up some sweet tips from her. read more

I love this store. They have everything I need, including hard-to-find items like Toggler wall anchors. The store isn't very wide, but it's very deep and extremely well stocked. It's rare that I don't find what I'm looking for. They even have Edison lightbulbs! Their supply of screws and other wall hardware is well organized in drawers, so it's super easy to find the thread count or material you're looking for. Unlike big box stores like Home Depot which almost always make you buy a package of hardware so you end up with way more screws than you need, here you can buy them individually, so if that's all you need, that's all you have to get. Once I didn't have any cash on me and needed a couple screws. I wanted to pay with a credit card. The nice gentleman I always see working there (potentially the owner?) told me that I could just come back and pay for them later. He didn't even bother to write me a receipt or anything. So, I returned later that day with some coins to pay for my screws. Hey, the honor system works! Awesome. In short, this is a fantastic mom and pop shop, all the staff are super friendly, and I've had great conversations with all of them. I loved the honor system approach they took when I needed to buy a couple screws and didn't have any cash on me. They didn't make me feel bad at all! (Seriously, the people here are so nice, I'd be highly skeptical of M.N.'s one star review, especially after seeing that they ONLY leave one star reviews, in many of which they're wishing pain and suffering on various businesses. Hmm... that seems fishy.) I'm so thankful I now get to live in a neighborhood where I'm in walking distance of a great place like this instead of having to go to Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

I wish I could give Pacific Supply six stars. It is a hardware store like no other. In an era of big box stores, Pacific Supply has helpful experts who will patiently advise and guide you to the right item for whatever your need may be. They also carry virtually every fastener known to man and offer them in any quantity wanted. I don't know how many times I was unable to finish a project for lack of the right fastener, wasted an hour or more at Lowe's and/or Home Depot unable to find it and then found it quickly at Pacific Supply and usually at a price of like $0.08. If we don't patronize stores like Pacific Supply they will disappear, which would be a real shame. Please give them a try. I can promise you, you will be glad you did. read more

I want to love this place, but I don't. The layout of the store is great. It's big, well designed and a pretty big store for such a neighborhood. Their paint selection is horrible. They only use some in house brand made by Sherman Williams and they try to pass it off as SW, but it's not. You can buy $50 tablets that are made in the same factory as an iPad but that doesn't make them the same. A smart business move would be to start selling BM or SW paint. There's not many paint stores in that area. The hours are also terrible. Let's see, build a hardware store that caters to people and not developers and you close it at 6pm? I'd suggest the little hardware store in SLU. It's worth the drive. You get much better paint and materials and the people actually know what they're talking about. Asking about paint conditioner in a hardware store shouldn't get a look returned as if I was asking the question in Mandarin. read more

I feel ashamed that it took me years to check this place out. My old, somewhat run-down apartment is in need of sprucing up on a regular basis and here I am always grumbling through the expensive basement aisles of the Broadway Market QFC for things they never have. So yeah, I felt pretty dumb when I walked into Pacific Supply the other day and, within minutes, walked out with all of my springtime gardening supplies and a replacement bulb for a tricky light in my kitchen that I've just not used since I moved in two years ago. It was all so cheap that I double checked the receipt to make sure they hadn't forgotten to charge me for something. read more

I LOVE this hardware store. First, the place feels like something out of a movie that takes place in montana, where you know the person who owns the place, and his name is probably George, or Gus or something. But in all seriousness, i think it's so great to see a local hardware store that has EVERYTHING you need. From tools to hardware to paint and cleaning supplies. Everyone who works there is super friendly and SO knowledgeable. One minor bad experience i had was that i called to see what line of paint they carried and they said "sherwin williams" after spending hours picking the color i wanted, i got to the store, and it was not sherwin williams at all! it was "Do it best" while at first i was frustrated, i ended up picking a paint that i love more than my original choice, and the quality of paint was MUCH better than sherwin williams. I also wish they were open a little later. They close at 6... but its usually at night that i realize i need something from the hardware store and considering this is the only hardware store on capitol hill, im usually SOL.
