As a girl it's always fun to roam hardware stores pretending you know what your doing while checking out the cute employeees/customers. I love hardware stores even though I'm never go but will take the opportunity when the chance arrives. I needed help figuring out my painting situation and the employee was extremely helpful and good looking. He made suggestions (which were great suggestions) and really directed me in the right place. This place is not just a hardware store - it's a symbol for all that is right about local neighborhood stores. It is rare to experience such an authentically friendly attitude by store staff and never before have I received such in depth, easy going expert service at any store. John helped me figure out a problem with my lamp fixture after a series of troubleshooting exercises and we got so in depth that he ended up spending 40 minutes actually fixing the problem with me. I mean, this is so above and beyond what you expect from a hardwore store. These guys aren't just running a hardware store, they genuinely want to help people. They've also got a huge selection of products for their size - this is a neighborhood store so it's not as big as those huge national hardware chain stores. I've always found what I needed here. Here's to hoping there will be more stores like Pacific Supply in the world, someday. read more

Have really wanted to like this store so, have gone half a dozen times. I like that it's a neighborhood store but often they are out of, or don't carry what I need. Also, the guys behind the counter seem reluctant to come around and show me where something can be found. I also find they are not forthcoming with advice. So, since I don't like going to the large chain hardware stores, I now go to Madison Park Hardware in Madison Park. It's a drive but they are great!! read more

Wow, is this possible? A hardware store with everything you need, including glow-in-the-dark duct tape, on Capitol Hill??! I was blown away by the space, the price and selections. Rent must be incredibly high for how much space the store takes up, but I'm glad they have the space. We spent about 2 hours designing and gathering random things for our project, and was asked if we needed help about 5 times. That's once every 24 minutes! I don't know how service could possibly be any better than that. The bonus? Like everything on Cap Hill, there's great music while you shop. I love Pacific Supply Co.! The people who work there are super nice and knowledgeable. As an artist who is constantly looking for random bits and pieces on a tight schedule, it's so valuable to have a decent hardware store without having to trek out to the 'burbs. In a neighborhood where everything is turning into an upscale hell faster than you can say "AVA Apartments," this place has been going strong for 20 years and I hope they're here for at least 20 more! read more

They didn't have what I needed and as I was about to leave, they offered to order it for me. True confession, I like hardware stores. This little gem on Capitol Hill in Seattle Washington was a fun find. They sell plants during the season. I was looking for plants and planters. They didn't have the type planters I was looking for so I didn't end up buying anything however they were so helpful that I felt like this would be my go to hardware store if I lived in Seattle. If you're around stop by talk to the owners they knew all a lot of stuff about all kinds of plants. They were knowledgeable about what would and would not grow in Seattle. I was looking to buy plants as gifts and they had some great ideas. They had a charming never met a stranger attitude. Their store just looked really cool.Sometimes no matter what the stores selling or doing for a customer the staff seems to make or break the deal. The people at the Pacific supply were great! Helpful and knowledgeable and made me want to absolutely go back! Next time I'm in Seattle I might just stop in for a visit weather I need any hardware or not. read more

Our friend uses a folding walker. One nut fell off, and although it still worked, it didn't fold up properly. First we tried the hardware department of the  QFC --hardware stores are so scarce on Capitol Hill that a grocery store has a hardware department -- but their #10 nuts were too small, their ¼ inch nuts were too large, and they didn't have any metric nuts at all. I asked our friend whether there were any real hardware stores around and she suggested "the place at 12th and Pike". We went to Pacific Supply, and I took her walker into the store. It's an old fashioned hardware store with a little of everything. Best of all, for this "nutty" mission, they sell a lot of small parts in singles, rather than the large packages sold at a lot of stores. I searched the nuts and bolts display for a size between #10 and ¼ inch, and didn't see it immediately, so I tried the metric parts. (The 5 mm was too small; the 6 mm was too large.) Back to the domestic parts, I found a #12-32 nut in brass for 37 cents. It fit! On the way to the check out counter, an employee asked whether I needed any help. I asked whether they could let me use a tool to tighten the nut, and they did. I tightened up the nut and paid. Our friend's walker was whole again. When i got back to the car, our friend didn't even mind that the brass nut didn't match her walker's black finish. (And if the nut falls off again, I can look up the part size in this review.) read more

This is a great little local hardware store. It's surprisingly large, and fairly well laid out, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They didn't have quite everything I was looking for, but what they did have was reasonably priced. The selection could be a bit better in certain things, though; having recently moved back from San Francisco I'm pretty spoiled by Cole Hardware, which seems to fit more things in a smaller space than Pacific Supply, without feeling claustrophobic. Basically I was hoping for Cole Hardware, but ended up with a scaled-down general hardware supply store. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it seems like it could be so much more. read more

I'm not a handy person, but when I dropped a contact down my bathroom sink, I decided to try to find it. The wrench in my roommate's toolkit wasn't big enough for the job, so I headed off to Pacific Supply, the closest hardware store to my house. I was intimidated, but the staff was helpful and reassuring. An older man joked with me about how my new wrench will last forever and I will be able to show it to my grandkids someday and tell them stories about how things once were made in the USA. I got two keys made here and, holy shit, they both worked! Does that ever happen?? I've purchased other hardware odds and ends here and their prices are actually decent for a small shop. I just moved to cap hill and needed zip ties for some furniture, walked a few blocks to get here, found a bag of 20 zip ties for $1.69, waited in line for over 10 minutes, gave the guy my debit card and he rudely yells in front of all these people "you dont have any money?" And i said yeah its on my debit card. Then he said "i have to charge you the 35 cent credit card fee" i said forget it and i left, customers in back of me thought i didnt have the money because of how this rude guy spoke to me, two of them offered to pay for my zip ties as i walked out. Im not a poor person, i have money, i did nothing to deserve to be talked to like that, it was extremely embarrassing. Im in shock. Im glad to say i will never shop at your store ever again. read more

Great neighborhood hardware store. They have a surprisingly wide selection crammed in there, including everything you'd expect of a real hardware store (screw / nut singular wall, etc). I went in looking for a replacement for my fender on my bike. I asked one of the workers for help and he found the right nut for me, and let me borrow a wrench to tighten it on. This place is awesome. Here's what impressed me the most: 1. Their customer service. I came in looking to replace the screen of a window frame. I had no idea how to do it. Not only did they show me all the parts I would need, they were happy to help me swap the screen right there in the store. Much better, and faster, than a youtube video would have been. Plus, they showed me which parts I could reuse, saving me a few extra bucks. Total cost was under ten bucks, compared to around $70 had I used a service company. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff that made my experience fun and helpful. 2. The selection. Though I was in there for one specific reason (the window) I decided to look around a bit. And I'm glad I did. They have so many cool things in there. I could have spent a lot of time and money shopping here. (Un)fortunately, I didn't have much of either that day. I love this place. I've gone in several things for small needs, and they are professional and helpful. John, the manager, is great - always there on weekends and always ready to help solve your problems. Today I went in looking for something I needed for a little DIY project (I needed some lamp cord and a switch, plus other pieces to make a lamp). They had what I needed in white and brown, but I wanted black, so John was able to look through a catalog with me and find just the right pieces that he can special order for me. And while this place isn't Walmart cheap, the prices are completely reasonable (usually comparable to Amazon). And they have just what you need, when you need it, from single screws to light fixtures to custom paint colors. read more

A secret gem hidden amidst the fancy new cafes and shops of the Pike-Pine Corridor, Pacific Supply is as close to a full-service hardware store as you will find near Capitol Hill. They carry pretty much everything you would need if you are a landlord or apartment manager - light bulbs, screws n nails, paint, faucets, door knobs.. plus you can ORDER from their catalog/website. If you order by Saturday it will usually be in their store Tuesday. Pretty much anything except lumber. Often their pricing on things like light fixtures and plumbing fixtures is nearly the same as your big box hardware stores.. AND you get to support a local business by shoping here. They have saved me many a car trip down to Lowes time after time. Give em your business! read more

Friendly Staff, great place, and super rad there is a hardware store on the Hill.

I would give them a better review, but I couldn't get in the door. They close at 6pm M-F, which just boggles the mind. Who leaves work early to go shopping at Pacific Supply? I arrived at 5:45 but had to circle looking for parking in this packed neighborhood. By the time I got to the door, it was 6:03. So I left empty-handed, wasted 30 minutes of my life and money for parking, and ended up having to go elsewhere. The only other times I've been they either were more expensive than Lowes/Home Depot or they didn't have what I needed. I guess it's an option if you don't have to work for a living during business hours, if you're a local contractor, or are homeless/unemployed. UPDATE: They copied my key in a much friendlier way than the key-bot at the local box store, and had a filter I needed. So I'm less disappointed than before - two stars. Still wish they had useful hours. read more

I've bought a tons of last minute necessities. This store was my best friend when I moved to Seattle and needed supplies for my apartment. The staff is friendly and helpful. First of all, it's just great to have a hardware store in the neighborhood. When I lived in Capitol Hill I was always grateful that I didn't have to make the trip out to a big-box store. But since moving away, I've actually discovered that there's some stuff that's easier to find at Pacific Supply so they're still my first choice when I need hardware. The last two times I was in, I needed replacement bolts for IKEA furniture I was trying to re-assemble after a move. They had a better selection of metric bolts than Lowes does, and they were incredibly helpful. Ed, in particular, helped me find all my options and pick the right parts. read more

When I moved to Seattle from NYC and saw this place across the street, I was pretty amazed it existed. In New York we have small hardware stores, but Seattle is such a driving town you would think everyone would go to home depot. This store competes on excellent customer service. Every time I have a household issue, I cruise on over and get some pretty amazing advice. I have never been there and not found what I was looking for. Great shop! read more
