Wow, what a shock I received when I visited this store today! I have shopped at Harbor Freight in Bellevue since it first opened. I have a auto repair business as a side stint. Unless I am looking for a specific high quality tool from Snap On, Mac, Matco, or Cornwell, I always try to shop from Harbor Freight. Sears has lost a lot of my business due to their lack of inventory and ever increasing prices. For the most part, I have had good service. Today was terrible! I received a flier in the mail a few days ago, and saw a particular floor jack I wanted. On sale for $10 off. Not a huge bargain, but enough to drive to Bellevue from Kirkland. I arrived at the store and it was chaos inside. I am sure this is due to the so called "Parking Lot Sale." In any case, I began my search for the elusive jack. I finally was able to make contact with a male employee who was clueless. Not to mention the fact he began talking to another customer while I was in the midst of a sentence. No big deal, I know this isn't Nordstrom. He walked me to the front and asked a female employee if she was familiar with the jack and the price I had claimed to have seen. Well, this snotty little wrench matter-of-factly informed me that I must be referring to the coupon flier! Ok, so I was a bit ignorant in realizing it was a coupon. I politely stated I wasn't aware it was a coupon and would they honor the price without it. I received a very blatant and hostile "No-we can't do that.!" No offer to call a manager, not even an apology. Now, I have been in the retail and service business for 25 years. I have NEVER turned away a customer because they forgot to bring their coupon. In fact, I always have insisted that my store(s) have coupons on hand to give to the customer, whether they have mentioned it or not. This is called GOOD WILL and CUSTOMER SERVICE. Long story short, I drove back home and doubt I will visit this store again. Even budget retailers should treat their customers with a bit of respect and courtesy. read more
