Ever since this opened up during my undergrad days, I can't believe I never left a review for Toss Noodle Bar! Especially since I'm someone who loves noods! I really like their option to build your own bowl. Step 1: Choose your base You can choose noodles (they have a whole list of options! I'm partial to spinach and Hokkien noodles), or steamed or fried rice (white or brown, with brown costing more). Step 2: Add your flavor Choose between wok-toss, soup, or curry Step 3: Pick your protein Options include tofu, chicken, beef, pork, prawn, combo There's also options for chef's special, quick bites, or chicken satay or BBQ pork on skewers. Glad to see that of all the establishments that have come and gone in Berkeley over the years, Toss is still around.

When a friend first recommended Toss, I thought we were going to a salad restaurant. Toss is a casual, student-focused destination (very close to Cal). You stand in line, order, and take a number. Food is delivered to the table. This is my second time here. Each time we've had a group of four or more. The process is efficient, and service is efficient. The noodles are delicious! We had a mix of dishes and all were pleased. The ratings from our group of six ranged from 7 to 9.3 (really). And special kudos to them for having Hitachino White Ale, a Belgian-style beer from Japan. Overall, highly recommended when you are looking for a casual, quick and tasty meal.

Love Toss for a simple, consistent meal in the UCB area. You decide the type odd noodles or rice. The type of protein, the type of sauce. On this evening they had a special added to their board...eggplant basil. The eggplant was yummy. (didn't care for frozen chicken slices (B), but loved the prawns. Had red curry with prawns (A)... and the coconut prawns.... Paid $45 for 2 meals.... very happy with my dinner. Thank you for simple, good value, decent food.. clean restaurant. Sharine

I've been coming to Toss Noodle Bar since 2021, and I'm glad the food quality has stayed consistent every time. My go to is the garlic noodle with hoikken noodles and shrimp, which also comes with bean sprouts, always flavorful and satisfying!! For drinks, the Thai tea is my favorite, their matcha looks like a newer addition and definitely worth trying. They use paper straws, which is eco friendly, but since I don't finish my drink right away, I grab an extra because the straw gets flimsy later on. The place has plenty of seating and a restroom. It can get busy since it's near a school I think. Staff are all accommodating & friendly. Parking is limited out front, but you'll find paid parking around the block. Still one of my favorite noodle spots!

Came with the family and got way too much food. Kind of pricey for what you get but the servings were huge. We got 3 orders of the garlic noodles and a fried rice. The noodles were nice and chewy. Good garlic flavor but not too much. Fried rice was as expected but it was good. Food came out fast too which e appreciated. We'd definitely come back again, but would order less.

Yummy noodles! Cute place, very easy to order, & really nice people! Food came out fast and was so good, very flavorful! They have pictures of the noodles and descriptions of the sauces which is also very helpful.

I love coming here! I always get the combo sauce of Thai and maylai idk how to spell what I got but I added pineapple for extra $3 and I love getting the brown rice option

When you come to Berkeley, there's always good cultural places to eat. Toss was a great find close to Berkeley HS after a tournament. Interior has a cool urban vibe as college towns have. The establishment was clean and inviting. I'd hang here if I were a student. Service was delightful. Food arrived quickly. I love the concept. - pick a noodle (or base) - pick a sauce (wok-toss, soup, or curry) - pick a protein You can probably come here and try hundreds of combinations and can't go wrong. We ordered: - flat rice, laksa with combination protein - wheat, Malay with pork - spicy Thai chicken basil with flat rice Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful! If you're in the area, be sure to give Toss a try!

No real complaints here. I could really see myself being a regular here if I was a UC Berkeley student and still had my college food palate. Nothing really stood out with the Thai noodles I ordered, pretty good overall but not wow'd at all. One of the workers was a little rude to my friend which I thought was unwarranted. I don't think I'd come back to be honest. Cool concept though!

I went to Toss a bunch as an undergrad at Cal and have amazing memories here. Now living in SF, I still crave the hokkien noodles here! My friend and I were driving to Concord and when they mentioned they wanted noodles, I knew we had to come to Toss. My order is always the hokkien noodles with Malay and Thai Sauce and Chicken. Food was ready in around 10 minutes. Super yummy as usual !! This spot is definitely a MUST for anyone living in the area!

Love this concept! Build your own noodle bowl! Lots of great choices of noodles and toppings to choose from. Counter service- you put in your order at the counter and they bring you your order. The place fun and clean!

Pretty good, food came out fast. Staff was nice as well and it was clean inside. My food came out wrong which I couldn't have due to restrictions but the server took it back and got me a new one quickly.

I ordered a couple of their popular dishes, the KAOKAO Char Siu Set and the Chong Qing Noodles, and both were fantastic. The char siu was so tasty, nicely cooked with most of the fat rendered (a big plus since unrendered fat especially on BBQ is a pet peeve of mine). It had that satisfying chew, a subtle smoky char, and a sweet-savory black bean glaze that tied everything together. The rice and pickled cucumbers on the side were a great balance to the in your face flavors of the pork. The Chong Qing Noodles were another highlight. You can tell the noodles are handmade as they are springy, chewy, and full of texture. The staff actually recommended that I get them uncooked since I was ordering to go, so I could boil them at home for a few minutes to keep the perfect bite and they were totally right. The broth was rich and balanced, with nutty sesame paste, a gentle kick from chili oil, a bit of crunch from peanuts, and some fresh bok choy for contrast. Everything was packed thoughtfully for takeout and still tasted amazing even after a longer drive. Overall, a really pleasant experience with great food, great service, and a place I'll definitely return to next time I find myself around Berkeley!

I decided to try the $13.99 Samgyeopal Ssam-jang, which featured grilled pork belly mixed with veggie soybean paste topped with fried onion, roasted seaweed, and sesame oil, all over rice (Photo 7). The bowl was a strange contrast of textures. Flavor wise, there were more misses than hits. The pork belly was overcooked with the chewy meat rendered almost inedible. The rice was weirdly mushy like it was sitting in lukewarm water far too long. The rest of the ingredients were nondescript. Definitely a hard pass on this bowl in the future. When you walk in, you step into a vast, open concept restaurant where you can fully see into the entire kitchen and feel how everything connects into the space where you dine. The decor is mellow, warm and inviting. It's great for an intimate meal, groups and everything in between. I immediately notice that each table had a tiny sake bottle holding a mouthful of freshly picked wildflowers sitting on top. It spoke to my heart as I love reusing cool bottles just for the same purpose. My bf and I were greeted warmly and walked to our table. We arrived knowing what we wanted so we ordered straight away. My bf ordered the Pork Belly Tonkotsu and I had the Vegan Spicy Miso with tofu done 3 ways. My bf really enjoyed his ramen and said the meat was tender and flavorful, the broth "just right". My vegan ramen was pretty standard overall. I didn't find the broth to be very complex (it was solidly "miso") but I appreciated the texture of the noodles (they were absolutely perfect!) and the 3 types of tofu offered great variety- soft plain tofu, abura tofu (fried bean curd), and stewed bean curd. There were several distinct textures of tofu to savor: soft, crispy & creamy, firm. The owner, Stella, was on the floor as we headed up to pay for our meal. She was so kind to gift me an empty sake bottle after I complimented on the table decor. We learned about the painstaking patience required to open this location in Berekely and how passionate she and her staff are about the food they bring to the community. In their Oakland location, they used to host midnight ramen and community events which really bring people together and connect them with the food they enjoy. This was such a cool visit and we hope to come back again to try their Matcha Coconut Yuzu Ramen!

The orange juice was a little too sour and my mom had to add some sugar to improve the taste. The iced mocha was good, not too sweet. One thing to note the wait for our food took much longer than expected, and it may have been due to how busy it was. My mom opted to order the salmon yuzu benedict and I got an egg plate (scrambled eggs) with a side green salad. My mom mentioned the potatoes lacking salt but she enjoyed the salmon benedict. I thought the scrambled eggs were good, but slightly bland & needed salt and pepper. The side green salad was alright, but the vinaigrette had a bitter aftertaste. The lettuce wrap came in two steamed, wilted pieces of iceberg, while the brioche bun was untoasted, foamy-textured and soggy. Both medium burgers had the consistency of boiled meatballs. The bacon jam was decent, but the overall experience was wildly unappetizing. We also both got plain fries, which were somehow greasy and dry at the same time, and instantly turned stale as they cooled down.
