There was this chocolate powder on top of the egg cream so once you mix everything together it kind of tasted like a chocolate or mocha flavor. I wish the coffee was stronger in taste. Recently took over the old U-Cha location and with a lovely menu with variety! I recommend the Pandan Matcha if you like Pandan. It was well balanced with the matcha and well worth the specialty cost with the portions. Not much seating but if you find one you can definitely settle down and be productive! It may get busy/loud as it is a small space but with some headphones and a flow state you're sure to get work done! 4/5 - Pandan Matcha - You can definitely taste the Pandan and matcha but I thought it could be a bit creamier for my liking. I've been here twice so far and both times they were excellent. I haven't had any customer service interactions but that's because you order from the tablets. The first time we went it was early morning and there were just a couple of us in there and they had just opened. I ordered the strawberry shortcake matcha and my husband got the banana matcha. Both were delicious. The 2nd time they were packed and I actually got the same thing and my husband tried the banana iced coffee which was even better than the matcha. Usually caffeine is the last thing I want before bed, but matcha is hard to pass up when you only have a few hours left to explore a city. We visited Binge Coffee House on a whim after dinner while looking for something to end our evening. There are countless cafes in the area, but we kept hearing that this one was worth trying. The shop sits close to UC Berkeley, so it's not surprising that a lot of college students hang out here. Even an hour before closing the place was still packed with students studying. It's also conveniently located near a bus stop which makes it easy to reach by public transit. You can order online, at the register, or through two kiosks inside the cafe. We placed our order online for the melon matcha and the white peach matcha. By the time we arrived our drinks were already ready for pickup, which took maybe five minutes. That's pretty quick for matcha drinks. The quality definitely lived up to the reviews I had read online. The matcha itself was strong and aromatic while still letting the added flavors come through. They also offer flavor combinations I haven't seen before. The melon matcha is inspired by a Melona ice cream bar mixed with a matcha latte, and it honestly tasted exactly like that. It was creamy, not overly sweet, and really satisfying. The white peach matcha was interesting. It took a few sips to warm up to because the flavor reminded me of peach yogurt, which I don't normally associate with matcha. It wasn't bad at all, just a more unique pairing. Stopped by Binge Coffee House in Berkeley, located on the corner of Bancroft. In true Berkeley fashion, parking is limited and metered, so plan accordingly. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was crowded -- standing room only. Orders are placed through one of two self-serve screens. Since it was our first visit, the menu took a minute to figure out, but my daughter got the hang of it quickly. She ordered a matcha with fresh strawberries at the bottom and really enjoyed it. I ordered a tea and added lychee jelly, but only received the fresh lychee pieces -- no jelly. Still good, just not exactly what I expected. Overall, we enjoyed it for the most part. There are a couple of tables inside but not really suited for a big group of people to sit without pushing a lot of tables together. My friends and I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. and the place was packed! I would definitely recommend ordering ahead of time on Snackpass to avoid waiting in the crowded store for your order to be prepared. I had a chance to try out the popcorn chicken and quite enjoyed it. The chicken was nicely breaded, freshly fried, not too oily, and very tender. While the chicken could've used a bit more salt or some more chili powder, I really appreciated that they included a generously sized container of sriracha to go with it. My wife got a mango matcha drink and I thought the mango puree at the bottom was over the top in terms of sweetness. I would highly advise against trying it on its own because the sweetness may cause a burning sensation at the back of your throat. I would advise you to mix the puree in with the rest of your drink to dilute it down. Lastly, I had hinted at it at the beginning of my review, but because the place is so crowded, it is definitely not a good place to hangout, nor a spot you want to hang out at to get work down. I've been to Binge Coffee House a few times now, and its definitely a great place to grab a drink to go from! You can order ahead on the Snackpass app, which is what I would recommend since there can be a pretty sizeable line/wait depending on the time of day, and there's not a whole lot of parking in the area. It seems like a decent study spot, with a few tables and chairs with people working at them, but can be quit crowded. Nice clean, open and bright space though! Definitely recommend the viet egg coffee, and the matcha lattes are pretty good quality too with good bitterness from the matcha- though sometimes I find the flavors can overwhelm the matcha, especially the banana matcha latte. Initially when you walk in, it does smell a little funky but it's likely from the pickled veggies for the bành mí sandwiches.. additionally there isn't much fresh air flow so it gets quite stuffy and warm inside the coffee shop. As for food & drinks, I enjoyed my Sesame Matcha & Chicken bành mí. The sandwich was delicious, chicken was not dry at all, herbs were fresh, and the bread was crunchy! All the key components for a great viet sandwich. If you're like me and like to split your food at restaurants, note that these sandwiches do not come cut in half & they do not have cutlery available for you to cut it on your own so you may have to ask the cashier to do that if needed. I docked down a star because I was hoping to get almond milk for my drink which was marked as unavailable which I was surprised by since it was only 11am but I do realize it's end of week. I've tried peach (peach is not white in color but great flavor), strawberry (classic and delicious), and pistachio (cream is such a treat - creamy and salty and pistachio flavor is great). Only issue I had is that it's very difficult to figure out which drinks have dairy. They offer dairy free alternatives but many of the drinks already have dairy incorporated. For example, all the Vietnamese coffee drinks have condensed milk, so my lactose-free friends - tread carefully. read more

Berkeley is one of our favorite spots to go for activities and good food. It has a plethora of matcha spots, so I was extremely happy when we found such an amazing spot so quickly. Oftentimes when the market is oversaturated it can take some time to find a true gem, but that's what binge coffee house is. We've tried their double matcha, strawberry matcha, banana matcha, blueberry matcha, and ube matcha. My favorite is the strawberry matcha, which uses real strawberries. It is delicious. The blueberry matcha was also good, but blueberries have a more subtle flavor, so the flavor wasn't as strong. The double matcha is my second favorite, with a powerful matcha flavor in both the foam and the drink. Being able to alter the sweetness of the drinks is also a deal breaker for me, and thankfully you have the option to do that here for most drinks. I do wish it was all. You can also alter the milk type on most beverages, which is good as my boyfriend and I are lactose intolerant. You can tell if matcha is good matcha or not typically if it has a grassier or sweeter taste, and here I can taste the grassy flavor, specifically in the matcha foam, which is a great thing.
