The coco pandan toast was to die for!!! It's so simple yet so good. The toast paired so well with the creamy coconut ice cream, peanut and the pandan sauce. The Thai milk tea to me was sweet, creamy and tasted like a Hong Kong milk tea with a bit of Thai tea flavor.
thai tea is very strong and on the sweeter side. would probably opt for less sweet next time but otherwise really hit the spot. a lot of people also ordered the mango sticky rice, will try next time. there's one person manning the counter and making drinks, he was nice. there's a few small round tables along the bench and one table outside.
We love Thai Tea, and it's great to see there are varieties of that here. They can do different type of milk which is really great to those that are lactose intolerant and to those that prefer nondairy as well. I've tried their original types of Thai tea as well as their sesame Thai tea. There was one with Thai tea ice cream on top of Thai tea that was really tempting, so I'll probably get that next time. There are also fruit ones too, so maybe I'll try that next next time. The space here is pretty nice. Several tables so people can sit and chat or study. Those I spoke with here were friendly. I asked how sweet the drinks are, and was told there wasn't much of a difference between half sweet and default sweetness, but they can do adjustments such as 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% or something, but there really wasn't much of a difference. It was still just a tad too sweet for me, but others said it was really great for them.
I came here with two people and we ordered two Thai teas and a lychee snow. The inside has ample seating and a modern interior with lots of students working. The lychee snow was delicious! I liked the sweetness level and the tartness the real lychee had in the slushie. Perfect for a hot day in East Bay. Their signature Thai tea is rich and milky with a delicious spiced black tea aroma. You can tell that this place is authentic! The neighboring location is safe and within walking distance of plenty of residential parking and restaurants. I would definitely come back and recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet treat with their friends.
The $5.50 Hot Cha Thai Black Tea doesn't need sweetener if you ask me (Photo 9), and it comes across as mellow as the sparsely furnished space itself. That's not a bad thing to convey such a mellow vibe, though I forget that they offer more than tea. The menu lists out a series of specialty toasts, mostly sweet but an avocado one as well, and even a mango & sticky rice. I never retain any of that information in what's left of my brain waves, but I did come back and tried the $6.50 Iced Cha Thai Milk Tea and was pleased that it was such a satisfying thirst quencher on a warm day (Photo 2). One day, when I have the calories to spare and the brain cells to register, I'll try that Pandan Custard Toast. I'm doubtful I would be disappointed. Had to try my favorite place again it's been a few months. The service is good and friendly. The drinks are on point. I did try the new mango drink. They use fresh mangoes and my sister had to try the Thai tea with the Thai ice cream both delicious. This is always my go to place.
Great place for all your Thai Tea needs. Came in after lunch and stayed a bit with some friends. My order was the black sesame thai tea with 25% sweetness and added boba. The lowest level for sweetness on the black sesame was 25%. The low sweetness was perfect and it didn't make the drink bland. Appreciate the chewiness of the boba. The person taking our group order and making our drinks was so kind. When I'm in the area again, I'd stop by. There are also plenty of seats and outdoor seating for anyone looking to stay awhile.
Cha Thai Tea is a little gem in Berkeley that specializes in (as the name suggests) thai tea! They mix thai tea with very likely flavors like coconut, s'mores, and other flavors! It's located nearby UC Berkeley campus so it's a cute little study spot or place to hangout with friends, but their tables and indoor space is a little small. Since it's also downtown, street parking can be a little difficult, especially during busy times of the day. Besides drinks, they also offer small eats like savory or sweet toast. As for service, the workers are always really sweet and helpful when taking your order! Drinks that I've tried: - Up All Night (4/5) ($7.50): A mixture of Thai Tea and Vietnamese Coffee so it's a great drink for someone that needs to stay awake and be productive! It's definitely on the sweeter side but still has strong notes of the coffee. - Black Sesame Thai Milk Tea (4.5/5) ($7.50): Has the delicious Thai Milk Tea as a base and an equally delicious black sesame foam on top. I love that they don't skimp on the top and that both layers mix equally well with each other! The black sesame also tastes strongly nutty and roasted! - Double Float (4.2/5) ($9.50): I believe this is one of their newer drinks, which is a thai tea topped with thai tea ice cream! Honestly, their ice cream tastes very strong of thai tea, unlike the store bought ones that taste like straight cream and sugar! Not sure if they make the ice cream themselves, but I would definitely order this just for the ice cream again! - Coco Cha Cha (5/5) ($7.50): This drink is my absolute favorite and the reason I keep coming back! As much as I want to try new drinks, I can't help but order this one! It sounds like an odd combination at first, coconut water and thai tea cold foam, but they make a magical, refreshing combination! All in all, Cha Thai Tea is the best place to get any thai tea cravings fulfilled, especially with their unique drink combinations! Another plus is that they use delicious, crunchy ice! Definitely come by and check them out!
The decor is very simple and modern, very clean. The menu is very creative, with flavors and such. The service was very fast and the drinks too came out pretty fast. My order was good but its something i wouldnt order again for the reason that the more i drank, the more it became bitter. Idk what exactly in the drink that gave it that bitterness but it was 4/5. The Thai tea float was phenomenal. It was delicious! I wish that was my drink. Definitely something you should order. Next time im back ill try something with coffee because that was my second choice.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I got the Pang Cha, but it literally is a blended Thai tea with some pieces of bread on top. The bread was perfectly sweet and savory, and the Thai tea is not overly sweet. I would suggest getting boba with it. My friend got the Mango Coco and she didn't like the little threads of mango towards the bottom, but the drink was very refreshing. There is some seating inside the cafe, and they prepare the drinks relatively fast. However, it is very hot inside due to the lack of air conditioning, and we heard many people comment on how it was literally cooler outside than indoors.
Was trying to avoid Thai food since it's everywhere BUT DON'T EVER MISS OUT ON THAI DESSERTS!!! Wanted to try out this place before and SO GLAD I DID because it didn't disappoint! The store was lovely (love the decor, many cute/photogenic corner & plenty of space/high ceiling) and the server that day was really nice (actually speaks Thai!). The orders were just... fantastic! Double float was actually not sweet (ice cream paired really well with the toast. Pangcha could be a bit too sweet but mixing it well might work with the included toast. The actual pandan toast was well-portioned. They sell plenty of Thai snack too! But overall it's actually Cha Thai (Thai tea) because the flavor was distinctive and properly made, not just industrial or too sweet like the common Thai tea you may find out there!
So happy to see a spot that's literally dedicated to Thai tea! I've been obsessed with Cha Tra Mue in SoCal so when I saw Cha's menu, I knew I had to make the trek across the bridge to try them out! I love the interior of the restaurant, it's bright, airy, and super aesthetic! They had a lot of really creative drinks. We ordered a classic Thai tea and a black sesame thai tea. It tasted like the tea was somewhat oversteeped in both, they were definitely strong but they had a lingering burnt taste. I love their inventive menu but I've definitely had better Thai tea elsewhere. I'd come back though for the vibes & creative drinks though!
Such a cute and cozy spot off Shattuck in Berkeley. After driving by Cha Thai Tea quite often, I finally pulled over while in the area to grab a drink and check it out. The menu is fun and full of unique sips and bites. While I went with the Cha Thai Milk Tea, the staff mentioned the most popular current items for summer are the Pang Cha (Thai tea frappe topped with actual pieces of butter milk toast), Coco Breeze (looks so beautiful, essentially coconut water, coconut milk, avo, and other ingredients), and the variety of Slushy options (there's an Avocado Smash one, Mango, Strawberry, and more). I noticed a S'more drink, toasts, and classic Thai desserts. A spot to tuck into with your laptop, a fun date, or just a grab and walk down Shattuck, I would definitely come back to try more from their menu. My next morning iced inspiration is the Black Sesame Thai Milk Tea...coming back for ya soon! Metered parking available but in a hoppin' area so leave time to find. Pricing around $7/8 a pop, although felt like a nice escape. Let me know if you've been and what you've tried!
idk what they're putting in their thai tea but it's just gotta be crack... there's no other explanation. pang cha: the classic, THE thing to order. thai tea frappe with the cutest slices of butter milk bread toast. the bread is so cute, very thin and with condensed milk and love. who doesn't like a lil girl dinner/sweet treat with their drink. passion fruit thai black tea: this is what I ordered, I love passion fruit tea ESPECIALLY when it has the real/fresh seeds from the passion fruit, so mixing it with thai tea, another one of my favorite drinks, sounded like an interesting thing to try. and man, it was delicious. however the caffeine was a lot + worth it. read more
Great place if you love thai tea. And we love thai tea. I also love black sesame.. So you can imagine my happiness when I saw a black sesame thai tea. We also got the thai tea float and the original thai tea. All of them were really good. We topped it off with an order of mangoes with sticky rice, which was great and an interesting addition to a tea place. The place was nice and clean and the workers were really nice so definitely worth a visit. read more
i know im late to the game but this is my new hyperfixation place,, the first time i went i got the pang cha, which is a thai tea slush topped w buttered sweet toast. suprisingly not too sweet (the highest of compliments,,) and filled my sweet treat craving. the second time i went i got the thai tea float, which was so strong, and again, not too sweet!! i also got to try my friends mango coco slush & that was so yummy as well :-) theres ~5 tables to sit at, service is good, & i like their playlist,, hehe,, i will be back!! read more

This place is amazing! Pang cha is super refreshing and you can add toppings like boba, crystal boba, grass jelly. The Thai tea slushy is not too sweet and has great Thai tea flavor, the toast on top is so good, crispy, buttery. I thought the coconut ice cream that came with coconut pandan toast was too sweet and overpowerred the pandan. I recommend getting the pandan toast or butter toast. read more
Came for a second time, service is so quick and the drinks were so good! The Thai tea was very creamy and sweet. Their boba is very bouncy and has a good texture. It wasn't crowded when I went and I got to enjoy the relaxing shop while I was working. read more
Chai Thai Tea opened where Boba Panda was. Infrastructure same. Less seating. Austere creamy vanilla walls with a few boba pics on same. Offerings (Thai-ish): Thai tea, fresh fruit tea, fresh fruit slushy, chai signature, toast, classic dessert, toppings... Single barrista on duty. Confirm with him Thai tea frappe had much sugar so passed. Ordered mango coco slushy. Pd. Ready in 5 minutes. Sips: mango coco slushy (8)less sugar. -barrista inform me drink would be slightly sour/tart. Was that ok? Yes said I as long as it wasn't too sweet. -an whole mango utilized mixed with house made coconut milk. Nicely blended. Nuanced sips. -drink stay consistent until literally the last drop. 4.5 stars: quantity/qualify very good. Worthy! May is Asian American Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month. read more

This was our first visit to an exclusively Thai tea joint, and I thoroughly recommend this spot for a try! The cups, straws, and drink materials are entirely compostable which adds a lovely sustainable touch. I chose the black sesame Thai milk tea with boba, served warm, at 25% sweet perfect for a rainy day. We also tried the classic Thai tea and the Up All Night, a mix of Thai tea of coffee, which was described as "impressive" where the subtle essence of the Thai tea was contrasted to the coffee. Such a cute spot! Came here with a friend on a weekday evening and I was so surprised by how good their Thai tea was. It's a strong tea, which I like, and their boba is a good amount of QQ, with just the right amount of chewiness. They have limited seating inside, but definitely a good place to grab and go, as the service is pretty quick. read more
The owner (I think) is the sweetest man. He always provides the best service and has a smile on his face at all times. Despite only having sugar levels of 50 and 100, he is always eager to tell me he can do 75 for me if that's what I'd prefer. There was one time I forgot to get boba in my drink and went up to buy a side of just boba and he said it was okay. Despite my persistence, he refused to let me pay for it. I have tried the original thai milk tea and the thai black tea and both are nice. The plain thai black tea is very refreshing. The thai milk tea is not the best I've had but still really good. My friend had the mango coco slushy which was delicious too. You can really taste the fresh mango and it wasn't on the watery side like some other slushies tend to be. The seats are sufficient for studying. There's only 2-3 outlets available but spread out pretty evenly among the few seats. It is a bench though so it can be less comfortable for some who aren't keen on harder surfaces for long periods of time. The placement of the table legs that attach to the bench are also a little inconvenient in terms of comfort but I personally could manage. read more

Its right around the corner from U Dessert so there's quite a bit of competition! Got the Coco Pandan Toast, Black Sesame Thai Tea, and Thai tea. Black Sesame thai tea is creamier and heavier than just the thai tea. The thai tea tastes cleaner which was my preference! The boba is quite chewy and the pandan toast was tasty too. read more

Such a cute little boba shop! I got the cha thai tea with boba and it was delicious! It wasn't too sweet, and I felt like every sip gave me even more great flavor. My straw did crack halfway through my walk back home, but otherwise it was so good. Would totally come back and try something new, and maybe even sit at the small tables to chat with a friend. read more
I discovered Cha Thai Tea from a Yelp search when I was at a nearby shop picking up jewelry. The menu here is pretty concise with their focus mostly on Thai Tea (hence the name!). Naturally I ordered a Thai Tea to start. They offer non-dairy/vegan options in both soy and oat milk (no extra non-dairy surcharge)! After I paid for the order, I ended up having to change my order because I didn't see their specials. Thankfully they hadn't started making my order so I was able to update my order and they didn't seem bothered by it. Whew!! I got the Coco Breeze. It has a blended slushy of peaflower tea, coconut water, coconut milk, and smashed avocado. It is so0o0o0o good! The space inside is large enough to accommodate a rush but isn't some place you would want to spend hours and hours at. The decor is pretty minimal and clean, giving off a light and fresh vibe. I took my order to go this time. It was nicely packed in a handled brown bag with their logo with some coconut fiber straws. Unique & tasty drinks here that are filling and not over-the-top sweet. Cha Tea has such a cool and relaxing vibe - definitely a spot I'd come back to just to hang out. I tried the Black Sesame Thai Tea, and it was amazing! Not too sweet, just perfectly balanced with a rich sesame flavor. If you're a fan of black sesame, you need to try it. I also ordered the Coco Cha Cha, which was super refreshing. The coconut flavor was subtle, not overpowering, which made it really easy to enjoy. Overall, great drinks, great atmosphere - highly recommend! read more
Mango coco was really good! I asked for it to be less sweet so it was perfect. The boba quality is good too. Good texture. My only complaint is that the straw is pretty fragile and it broke. Luckily, I had a back up straw in my car. That's never happened to me before lol read more
I love Thai tea, imma just put that out there. The fact that Cha Thai Tea specializes in it and is close to my home? Dangerous! I came here with my best friend and we enjoyed sipping in their shop. The inside is pretty minimalistic and quiet. There's a few tables inside and a couple outside. Since we were one of the only customers, my drink came out fast. When you come to a place with Thai tea as their name, best believe I'm going to try it! I had the Oat Milk Thai Tea. Initially I asked for no sugar but it was definitely too bitter for me so they were kind enough to add some sweet syrup. You can taste the pureness of the tea. It was high quality for sure and I recommend it for those seeking authentic Thai tea. After my experience at Cha Thai Tea, I will continue to bring other friends who also love Thai tea. The shop is small but easy to find off Shattuck Ave. with street parking around. Can't wait to come back to try their other drinks! read more
Small place but the favorites for drinks are big! I got their black sesame thai tea. Service was fast and inside had a nice wooden feel to it. I feel like with black sesame that flavor tends to over powers most dishes but both the Thai tea flavor and black sesame were strong and balanced each other out! Wow, I'm thoroughly impressed by the quality of the Thai tea here. After going to Thailand twice this year, one of the most memorable things I had there was the Thai tea. I was telling my partner how much I'll miss it once we leave. Fortunately, while having lunch in Berkeley, we came to this place and their Thai tea is just as good as what we had in Thailand at the famous Cha Tra Mue! The decor of this place is very calming, wabi sabi vibes. The owner is very nice. I got 50% sweet and it was perfect. Would 10/10 recommend this place if you want a premium quality Thai tea. Cha Thai Tea is a charming little café about two blocks north of Marugame, dedicated (as the name suggests!) to Thai tea, with some fun additions like ceremonial matcha hand-whisked to order. There's limited seating, but if you do grab a spot, the ambiance is calm and perfect for relaxing or getting a bit of work done. On our first visit, we were overwhelmed (in a good way) by all the drink options, but the owner (I'm assuming) was incredibly kind and patient, answering all our questions and even offering customizations like a 75% sugar option, which I don't think is officially on the menu. I personally recommend ordering Thai tea with 50% sugar or less if you prefer something more balanced. It still has a strong, well-defined tea flavor without being overly sweet. A refreshing change from the watered-down versions I've had elsewhere! We also tried the matcha, and while it's not the main focus here, it was still quite good. Light and smooth, but the flavor held its own. Overall, a great first experience, can't wait to come back and try more drinks! read more
Saw the reviews for Cha Thai Tea on Yelp so I went to check it out and will have to say that the reviews live up to the hype! If you're a fan of Thai tea, you will absolutely love this place! I got the classic Thai milk tea but I was so tempted to get many of their other drinks as well. Some of them were the lychee or passionfruit Thai black teas, pang cha, Thai tea smores, or even the mango cloud and mango sticky rice. As you can tell, their menu is very diverse and there is something for everyone! read more

Order: Matcha latte -ceremonial grade matcha -less ice, less sweet -pretty good! Next time I think I'll ask if I can get another shot of matcha because I think it's a bit too much milk compared to the amount of matcha but it's really refreshing! Pang Cha -full sugar (no ice adjustments because it's a frappe) -basically a Thai tea frappe w sweet bread -pretty good! A bit too sweet for me and we didn't ask if we could make any sweetness adjustments -the bread is nice, crunchy, and sweet. -it also has a nice drizzle of condensed milk on it. The bread dipped in the drink was great as well! Mango sticky rice -delicious! Can't complain! Even the mango was great! Decent amount of seating with 5 small tables and one large window table meant for 2. Seems nice to study in. There's an outlet in the middle of the long bench. read more
