    Black sesame oatmilk matcha
    Daisy W.

I walked by this matcha place and decided to check it out since I noticed there were a lot of matcha places in this area. I got the black sesame matcha with oatmilk and it was amazing! This is my first time having ceremonial grade matcha and it was super smooth, had a strong flavor and was very rich with the oatmilk. The black sesame flavor sorta got lost when I mixed the latte but overall I really enjoyed the drink. They also made it very quickly and ordering was very easy. Only thing is the drinks are pretty pricey mine was but that's to be expected here

Another good matcha spot in Berkeley! The matcha is super prominent and rich, along with fresh fruit to pair with it. The only downside to this place is that they are not on Snackpass which means you can't order online. I like to go this matcha spot when I get sick of the other spots.

We stopped by for matcha. My son ordered the banana matcha and I ordered the creme brûlée. My creme bru lee was perfect. You get the feel and taste of a creme bru le followed by matcha. Therese also snack food. The place has limited seating inside. The ambiance is of a coffee shop for matcha. Theres not much interaction with staff except to pick up drink. Orders and payment are placed on a screen when you enter and just wait for name to new called.

Spacious matcha restaurant in Berkeley that's quite a convenient location for students but a terrible place to drive to due to lack of parking. Service was decent and drinks were made pretty fast. They have a large variety of interesting matcha flavors so if you're someone that doesn't like the pure taste of matcha, this is perfect. I ordered the creme brulee matcha so honestly I can't speak on the matcha quality itself. The creme brulee flavor completely covered the matcha flavor and honestly the creme brulee tasted more like an egg pudding from ShareTea.

High Ceilings. A bit dim inside but the front of the building is all window so the natural lighting is pretty. Very clean interior. Not large but it feels spacious with the high ceilings and minimal furniture. I think this would be a cute place to study. I LOVEDDDDD the Banana Hojicha. I tried the Banana Matcha but thought that the matcha was a bit watered down. I would love to come back and try their other drinks here. You walk in and order on a little tablet. Service doesn't take long at all. It wasn't busy when I went (Sunday around 2pm). Parking is a bit more of a struggle to find if you're coming from out of town. I parked in the college parking lot but I think that might not be as worth it for some people. Thank you De Matcha !

I ordered a banana matcha and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really liked all the different matcha options this place had and I felt like the quality of the matcha was good. I would recommend this spot if you're in the area and craving matcha. it is a quiet spot to be able to sit down and study/get work done.

De Matcha might be one of the best matcha places we've visited. No line, warm customer service, and such a calm vibe. We got the Black Sesame Hojicha Latte and Matcha Duo. Already hoping to come back soon.

De Matcha was on my Berkeley matcha crawl list and I was so very excited to try it! You self order on the kiosk and I received my drink very quickly. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte; there were no options to choose sweetness, but you are able to choose the type of milk you want. I wish there were options to choose sweetness level because mine was simply way way way way too sweet. I loved that they used fresh strawberries. You can actually taste the fruit bits in the drink but I was not able to taste the matcha. The café has fairly large seating area for self work or groups but limited street parking like most of the Berkeley area.

De Matcha - The Black Sesame Cream Brought Me Back Second visit, and I went straight back for a second time for the black sesame hojicha latte. Drink: Simply delicious. The black sesame cream on top is rich and nutty, and the hojicha itself has a satisfying flavor. It's the kind of drink that makes you understand why people come back. Service: Ordering is self-serve, which keeps things efficient. Drinks came out quickly after ordering. Ambiance: The space is minimal with just a few tables, though plenty of room to stand and wait for your order. The store did have a pretty strong smell of cleaning solution, which was a bit off-putting when you're there to enjoy a drink. Hopefully just a timing thing on our visit. Overall, the drinks are the star here and worth returning for. Just a small ambiance note to be aware of but it won't stop me from coming back for that black sesame cream.

Yummy matcha! De Matcha offers a wide variety of matcha and hojicha drinks as well as Japanese snacks. The drinks are amazing! The hojicha lattes have an incredibly rich and deep flavor. The hojicha was perfectly sweet, nutty, and smooth. The Crème Brûlée Matcha Latte was also very good! The drink was sweet but had a lovely umami flavor. They definitely didn't skimp out on the matcha. The matcha was dark, potent, and good quality. The Crème Brûlée top was very good and added a nice crisp to the drink. The drinks came out surprisingly quick. The staff were friendly. This is a nice spot to get some work done too. This spot has a bit of a brutalist look about it while being welcoming at the same time. It was a little dark and quiet but had some natural lighting coming in. The seats and tables were comfy, very inviting for a study sesh. I definitely will be back to try some more of their menu items!

Was running through Berkeley on Telegraph when I passed by De Matcha. I remembered seeing this place pop up on reels as the newest matcha spot in the area, so we decided to stop in right after our run! - Strawberry Matcha Duo -- layers of strawberry purée at the bottom, matcha latte in the middle, and matcha foam on top, lightly dusted with matcha powder; not overly sweet, super aesthetic, and I loved the whole strawberry slices! A refreshing and energizing post-run treat - Strawberry Matcha -- similar to the duo but without the matcha foam; a bit lighter overall and simpler in flavor They also offer other duo-style drinks like banana and mango, and their osmanthus matcha latte looked fruity and refreshing too. You can't adjust the sweetness likely because the matcha mix already contains sugar. The balance was a tad on the sweeter side for me. Service was friendly and fast, and drinks came out quickly. Orders are placed through tablet kiosks (a Berkeley college town classic). There are a handful of seats inside, making it a great spot to sip and study. Ambience is calm and minimalist -- definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a new matcha stop in Berkeley!

Came here to give this place a second chance. Went up to the counter and asked which matcha was the most matcha least sweet and the guy said he could make me a ceremonial matcha with extra matcha and no sugar. Turned out amazing!! Also got a seat inside and the lighting was perfect. Great spot to catch up with friends. Was fun trying everyone else's flavors. All a bit too sweet for me but could definitely taste the fruits.

the creme brulee matcha was good, but pretty sweet. i think if it was a bit less sweet, it would be perfect. as for the matcha lychee refresher, the lychee flavor was strong, but the matcha was really grainy /:

They have an extensive menu of tea, I decided to get the black mango tea, which is indicated as high caffeine. They told me to keep it to less than 1 min steeping or else it gets oversteeped. They were prompt with coming out with my tea leaves and teapot, and gave me a towel to put your teapot on in case of spills It was bitter, but definitely has the fruity notes I was seeking. I was able to make several potfuls of tea which still had some flavor in them, so the leaves seemed to do well with re-steeping. They provided me with a kettle so I could continually reboil the water, so I felt it was decent value (since total it cost only slightly more than the average boba costs nowadays). I'm thinking I'd like to get the lychee or hojicha next time. The worker didn't mention to me if they offer milk, which I wish they did. But they do sell snacks. The bathroom is clean. They have free wifi but the day I was there, unfortunately they were having issues with the wifi. They have a 2 hour time limit on weekends, but no limit on weekdays. I appreciate that they have outdoor seating, for those who are airborne illness conscious, and also so you can enjoy nature and sunshine while having your tea. A lovely spot overall, right on San Pablo Ave so you can take the 72 bus lines to reach it.

Each table has its own kettle so we got to brew the tea ourselves. I know tea always comes with brewing instructions but I never really paid attention to those. However, this experience made me realize the importance of brewing tea as instructed to fully enjoy the flavors and notes each tea offers. Overall, my friend and I had a great experience. We were able to try new teas and catch up in a relaxing atmosphere.

The milk tea was smooth, rich, and well-balanced with a strong tea flavor that wasn't overwhelmed by sweetness. I appreciated that it tasted like real brewed tea rather than a sugary milk drink. The bakery itself seems to mainly be a takeout spot, with minimal indoor seating which felt pretty inconvenient given the limited space for customers, however it did seem to serve more of a purpose as a waiting area anyways. The structure of the bakery leaves a bit to be desired as well, as we found the glass display cases as the only form of menu, so being in the front of the line while still deciding what to order caused some unnecessary anxiety. Regardless of those nitpicks, the baked goods themselves were pretty good! Service was instant, and all of the treats looked delicious--it was hard to choose what we wanted! Our favorites were the Thai Tea and Ube Coconut Mochi Donuts. Both had really strong flavors--the Ube in particular was very clear in comparison to most other Ube desserts in my experience. The textures of the mochi donuts were really well done too, with soft exteriors and chewy, glutinous interiors. The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!
