Such a great spot, definitely one of my favorites so far! I originally came for the matcha but the hojicha completely stole the show. The cafe is small with a bit of outdoor seating. There wasn't a wait when I arrived, but a line started forming shortly after. We tried the matcha tiramisu, hojicha tiramisu, and strawberry matcha with strawberry foam. I had this matcha place on my list for so long and finally tried it last week. I got the tiramisu matcha latte with their Koku matcha. Definitely recommend Koku Macha to anyone who likes nutty and less bitter matcha flavors. They had alternate milk options too. I really liked their concept - there was a large matcha making station where 4-5 matcharistas were whisking matcha. See you see everything live in action!! They also serve crepe cones and soft serve. Yume Mori has been on my radar for quite some time. It has been a yume (dream) of mine to try it, and I'm so glad I could finally go with my best friend. We arrived on a rainy weekend. It wasn't too busy, compared to other reviews where lines and wait times can vary. The aesthetic inside is cute, minimalistic, and vibey. There is minimal seating, a couple of benches to wait for your drinks, but it primarily works as a take-out spot. That being said, if there's a large crowd, it can get pretty cramped inside. The layout is interesting: you can watch them make your drink, and there are a couple of tablets to order from (the only way to order), but the structure means there are lines to the tablets and minimal waiting or seating areas. All drinks are made to order, so they can take a while to come out. For those new to matcha, this can be a bit overwhelming. The menu itself is more limited with a few specialty and traditional typical options. The fun comes from choosing what type of matcha you want. All serve different purposes and have distinct notes and tastes, so I'd love to try them all. For my drink, I got the Matcha Tiramisu with Oat Milk and Yuga matcha. I loved how smooth, earthy, and creamy my drink was. The quality was great, and I'd recommend it for those who like a little sweet drink or want something non-traditional. I would get it again and also look forward to exploring their other drinks paired with other matcha. Berkeley has so many matcha options. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy, the line went out the door and stayed that way the entire time we were there. It took maybe 30 minutes total to get inside, order, and receive our order. The inside has a modern wooden Japanese aesthetic, but is really small with 1 short bench along the wall and another to hold the door open. There's also some tables outside. There's metered parking in front of the buildings at each block or street parking if you turn off the main street, but it was pretty packed.  A unique thing about this store is that you get to choose which matcha harvest you'd like your drink to be made with! They have a notecard above the monitor with details about the flavor profile of each harvest. They also have agave syrup on the side if you want your drink sweeter -creme brulee crepe (3.5/5): the sugar was bruleed well with no missed spots. the custard was okay, not as creamy compared to millet crepe in LA (OG creme brulee crepe). It was also pretty small -clear matcha (4/5): basically matcha+water, but it was surprisingly creamy! the matcha itself was bold and flavorful (i forget which one we got, but it was the one you pay extra for). This was actually pretty sweet which I wasn't expecting, so for those who like their drinks lightly sweetened, may be better to get it unsweetened and add to taste.  I had been wanting to check this place out for a while and overall I feel like it was not bad. Came here cause my classmate really liked it and it was walking distance from where we had lunch. Small place but the inside is so cute. I do like how they also serve crepes and soft serve. You can only order crepes from Friday - Sunday around 12-5pm. There's 8 different options: matcha crème brûlée, custard crepe brûlée, ichigo, biscoff butter, Nutella, banana choco caramel, brownie choco, and s'mores. Soft serve is served 12-5pm daily I'm assuming and either in a cup or cone. There's only 1 kiosk so if someone in front takes long to order there will be a long line. I ordered the hojicha ichigo with oat milk, added strawberry cream and a biscoff which came out to $10. There's also two different hojicha's to choose from: hoji-ko and hoji-en. Hoji-ko has notes of caramel and nutty. Hoji-en has notes of cocoa and smoky. I ordered the hoji-en with my drink and it was delicious. My classmate ordered the seasonal rose lychee matcha drink and the other ordered the tiramisu matcha drink but changed up the type of matcha being used. There's 4 different ceremonial matcha provided: miki, yuga, shizu, and koku. Miki is floral and creamy, yuga is refresh and bright, shizu is umami and earthy, and koku is nutty and floral. I entered Yume Mori not expecting much, thinking, "another matcha place in Berkeley? It's gotta be a cash grab," so they've already got my bias working against them and I *still* gave them 5 stars because the matcha was unexpectedly great! Yes, the cup is small but these ratios are very similar to how I make my own cup at home. Too much milk will dilute the strength of the tea and make it impossible to take the subtle flavors of matcha, and based on the taste, they use plenty of matcha! That said, I am somewhat of a purist in that I exclusively take my matcha straight or with oat milk, so I can't speak to any of their flavored drinks, but why would anyone need to try their flavored drinks when their latte is already perfection? The shop is a little out of the way from campus in south-ish downtown Berkeley, but plenty close to BART for anyone who's not a local student (such as the many alum living in the Bay Area). There isn't any real seating inside besides a couple (tiny) benches for you to wait on. There are a couple outdoor tables set up with metal chairs but those were crowded with a mix of students sipping their drinks and waiting for drinks, so I recommend planning to take your order to go. read more

We had a great experience here! We were greeted as soon as we walked in, which immediately made the space feel welcoming. We ordered the Matcha Tiramisu (Shizuoka) and the Matcha Ichigo (Mie) with strawberry purée, both iced with oat milk and regular sweetness. Both drinks were smooth, well-balanced, and flavorful. One clearly saw me and I'm Perry sure the others at least heard someone walk in, but I was not greeted, acknowledged- nothing. I thought about walking out but decided to give Yume Mori a chance. They didn't acknowledge until I asked a question and still, the service was just bad. So bad it's the reason why I won't be back. Ambiance = 4 Super cute, modern space, but small with no space to really sit and enjoy your drink. Matcha = 5 The Matcha itself was really, really good. The quality of it is definitely aeons above your average coffee house. If you're not used to Matcha places, make sure you thoroughly stir any drink you get that has any add ins. For example, if you get the strawberry Matcha, make sure you mix it thoroughly before you drink it (something no one bothered to tell me here at Yume Mori). As for the matchas, I do appreciate how they let you pick your preferred blends and even the roast level you would like for the hojichas! Visited my best friend in the East Bay, and she took us to Yume Mori! Luckily we beat the rush and ordered from their menu right away. There's 2 types of matcha you can choose from - Mie (floral) and Shizuoka (umami). I chose Mie for my Double Matcha. We waited for awhile before we got our order, but I think it was worth it! The Double Matcha was delicious and rich in flavor, and the Matcha Creme Brûlée crepe was not overly sweet. I enjoyed the crispy bits it came with. After enjoying some freshly brewed hot tea, I wanted to end with something a bit sweeter & creamier. Yume Mori's playful menu design & somewhat simple selection really intrigued me. They're apparently relatively new to Berkeley but I still can't believe I just found out about this place! The shop itself is very small, so the line ends up spilling outside and kind of clutters the doorway making it a bit hard to get in and out of the shop. Thankfully, people were pretty understanding of the saturation and made sure not to be in each other's way. Once you reach the front of the line, you're greeted by a kiosk for ordering. They only have kiosk ordering so you can't pay with cash if that's what you prefer unfortunately. While you're waiting in line, you get to watch every single drink make its way down the assembly line. Each component of the drink is meticulously crafted. From measuring the milk to balancing Biscoff cookies on the rim of the cup-- each team member was very skilled in their task & made sure each drink was perfect. We ordered the Coco Matcha Cloud and Hojicha Ichigo. We did not make any adjustments to the ice or sugar levels but we did opt for oat milk in the Hojicha Ichigo. The oat milk actually worked really well with the Hojicha and did not take over the entire flavor profile of the drink. Neither drink was too sweet. The tea in both of them was also not overwhelming. I appreciate how light and somewhat floral each one was. The price per drink is about the average cost and we were definitely happy to see that it wasn't on the more expensive side for a matcha. Yume Mori Matcha met my matcha expectations! I came on a Saturday and the line wasn't too long. The space is small but the line moves quite fast. The decor has such a beautiful simple aesthetic. The staff is friendly. The menu is not large but they have great options, I wanted to try several drinks. This is what our party ordered: -Double Matcha 5/5, this was delicious, creamy and flavorful. It reminded me of the matcha I had in Kyoto. Excellent quality matcha and drink! -Matcha Ichigo 4/5: This drink would have been perfect if it had more of the strawberry puree. The matcha was delicious, but it tasted a bit bland after mixing it with the strawberry puree. I would try other drinks next time. -Tiramisu Crepe 3.5/5: I feel mixed about this crepe. While some bites were good, they lacked flavor. There was some Biscoff at the end of the crepe and a lot of cream in the middle. I wouldn't order this crepe again but I would love to try a different one. Overall, the double matcha was my favorite drink from this visit, and I would come back for it. This place is new and they have to work on consistency for some of the drinks/crepes but overall and matcha is good quality so it is worth it. read more

Such a delicious and creamy matcha latte! One of the better ones I've had, even though the cup is so tiny I still think it was worth the $8. You are paying for quality here. There was quite a line on a Sunday afternoon, but it moved fairly fast. I wish there was more than one tablet for ordering since people tended to take a while on their order since it requires customization of which matcha, etc but the drinks itself came out pretty quickly after we ordered. I got a tiramisu matcha latte with Koku (+50cents) and it was a perfect pairing. We also got one with Yuga matcha, but it was too creamy and milky for my liking. Checks all the boxes, but not particularly memorable. Strawberries were fresh, cream had a good mouthfeel to it, and crepe was light and fluffy. I keep tasting grass in the matcha drinks which is not to my liking. read more
