Yume Mori is yet another matcha café that's been on my list of places to try. My friend and I stopped by about an hour before closing, and there was no line! There was only one couple in front of us, so we barely had to wait to order from the in-store kiosks. I got the ichigo matcha latte with oat milk (no extra charge ftw!) and the miki matcha powder, which I selected because it was the least bitter of the lineup. The drink was perfect in every way! The matcha was strong (not bitter at all), and the strawberries were the freshest I've had, so my drink seemed really gourmet. Not much seating inside and too sunny outside, so my friend and I stood off to the side to sip our matcha. We had to leave at 6pm when they closed, but by that time we finished, so it worked out. I wouldn't want to stand in one of the slow queues I've seen before in passing by, but I think it's worth it if there's none! read more

This place is a total rip off! This is a small place where you just order at a kiosk. We got the Double Hojicha with Hoji-Ko Hojicha, the Extra Rich Matcha with Koku Matcha, and Matcha Soft Serve The Double Hojicha and Extra Rich Matcha were both a disappointment. You could at least taste the Hojicha and Matcha, but they both didn't have enough flavor. Also, the drinks were mostly ice, filling more than half of the cups. The Matcha Soft Serve was okay. You could taste the Matcha, but this also didn't have enough Matcha flavor. Overall, everything didn't have enough flavor and way over priced. read more

Really great experience! I was visiting emeryville over the weekend and this was just 10 mins away from me, so I stopped by. I went here Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon. I ordered a double matcha with regular sweetness and it was so good I came back for the same matcha the next day! A small matcha spot in Berkeley. There was a line when I went during the weekend and the wait is ok considering there's only 1 kiosk. I got the matcha custard crème brûlée crepe. The custard is like pudding and caramel is crunchy. I can't really taste the matcha and the flavor is a little plain, probably from only custard and whipped cream. There's also rice crispy at the bottom that added some crunch to it, which I really liked. They also have matcha drinks so I might try it when I pass by again, but I think the price towards the higher side ($11.27 for crepe). read more

Line was long (as expected) on a holiday weekend afternoon, but moved quickly. Place your order on the single kiosk indoors, and then wait outdoors as they make it. There are a few tables and chairs outside the cafe. We opted for their classics -- iced matcha latte and iced hojicha latte. They offer some customization, like the type of milk, sweetness level, and which matcha / hojicha powder you prefer. The drinks were good. There is only one kiosk for ordering, and with the customization questions for each drink, everyone takes a long time at the kiosk to place their order (so if you're behind three spots but every party in front of you has multiple people, it'll be a while). People spend time at the kiosk browsing the menu and photos first, so that also adds time. We paid over $9 for their special butter mochi and it was burnt and hard, we were super bummed. I had high hopes for Yume, but I think their strength is in their desserts, not so much their balanced matcha drinks. I ordered a regular matcha latte, but the milk and light sweetness still overpowered it. I do think it is worth checking out if you enjoy a sweeter matcha. The matcha quality is great, I enjoyed the iced tiramisu matcha. It's not too sweet and the mascarpone cold foam was perfect. The only downside of this place is the wait time and not having somewhere to sit. They have a few outdoor chairs but unfortunately the tables were covered in spilled matcha which made it hard to "enjoy" the 20+ minute wait. It's truly difficult for me to give this place a full five stars because there are now 3 other matcha places that popped up in Berkeley around the same time and one will reign supreme in my mind. I had this matcha place on my list for so long and finally tried it last week. I got the tiramisu matcha latte with their Koku matcha. Definitely recommend Koku Macha to anyone who likes nutty and less bitter matcha flavors. They had alternate milk options too. I really liked their concept - there was a large matcha making station where 4-5 matcharistas were whisking matcha. See you see everything live in action!! They also serve crepe cones and soft serve. Went around lunchtime and the wait wasn't too bad. Drinks came out pretty quick, especially since they hand whisk everything. You order through a kiosk, but I'm sure the staff would help if you needed it. I got the matcha tiramisu (no biscoff) and upgraded to the koku blend. Yume Mori has been on my radar for quite some time. It has been a yume (dream) of mine to try it, and I'm so glad I could finally go with my best friend. We arrived on a rainy weekend. It wasn't too busy, compared to other reviews where lines and wait times can vary. The aesthetic inside is cute, minimalistic, and vibey. There is minimal seating, a couple of benches to wait for your drinks, but it primarily works as a take-out spot. That being said, if there's a large crowd, it can get pretty cramped inside. The layout is interesting: you can watch them make your drink, and there are a couple of tablets to order from (the only way to order), but the structure means there are lines to the tablets and minimal waiting or seating areas. All drinks are made to order, so they can take a while to come out. For those new to matcha, this can be a bit overwhelming. The menu itself is more limited with a few specialty and traditional typical options. The fun comes from choosing what type of matcha you want. All serve different purposes and have distinct notes and tastes, so I'd love to try them all. For my drink, I got the Matcha Tiramisu with Oat Milk and Yuga matcha. I loved how smooth, earthy, and creamy my drink was. The quality was great, and I'd recommend it for those who like a little sweet drink or want something non-traditional. I would get it again and also look forward to exploring their other drinks paired with other matcha. Berkeley has so many matcha options. Yume Nori is one of the newer kids on the block, but it's quite popular with Cal students and other matcha girlys like me. Find them off Shattuck, tucked between other restaurants. Yume Mori Matcha offers a great variety of drinks and desserts, and I love that you can choose from different types of matcha and hojicha to customize your drink. I've gone to Yume Mori a few times now and the quality has been consistently good every time. The matcha is creamy, very aesthetically pleasing, and the hojicha is also really delicious. When I get the tiramisu matcha I always end up getting an extra Biscoff cookie because it's so good with the drink. There isn't really seating inside but they do have a few small tables outside. The interior itself is really cute though and as someone who loves plants I really appreciate the greenery it brings to the space. I still need to try their crepes next time I go. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy, the line went out the door and stayed that way the entire time we were there. It took maybe 30 minutes total to get inside, order, and receive our order. The inside has a modern wooden Japanese aesthetic, but is really small with 1 short bench along the wall and another to hold the door open. There's also some tables outside. There's metered parking in front of the buildings at each block or street parking if you turn off the main street, but it was pretty packed.  A unique thing about this store is that you get to choose which matcha harvest you'd like your drink to be made with! They have a notecard above the monitor with details about the flavor profile of each harvest. They also have agave syrup on the side if you want your drink sweeter -creme brulee crepe (3.5/5): the sugar was bruleed well with no missed spots. the custard was okay, not as creamy compared to millet crepe in LA (OG creme brulee crepe). It was also pretty small -clear matcha (4/5): basically matcha+water, but it was surprisingly creamy! the matcha itself was bold and flavorful (i forget which one we got, but it was the one you pay extra for). This was actually pretty sweet which I wasn't expecting, so for those who like their drinks lightly sweetened, may be better to get it unsweetened and add to taste.  I had been wanting to check this place out for a while and overall I feel like it was not bad. I love how you can choose the matcha type. So you can choose a matcha with different notes. Really dope. I will be back to try one more time but I do have a few notes, I got the mango matcha, wasn't a fan of it at all, only because of the way the mango was prepared. It was very crumb-y like the mango was blended but not strained. But also it could've been more chewable chunks it just felt like stuff floating in my matcha. it would taste better as a sweet mango puree or a mango syrup because it also was lacking the sweetness to bring the mango flavor out. Speaking of sweetness, I wasn't able to adjust that which bothered me since my total with everything was $9. Came here cause my classmate really liked it and it was walking distance from where we had lunch. Small place but the inside is so cute. I do like how they also serve crepes and soft serve. You can only order crepes from Friday - Sunday around 12-5pm. There's 8 different options: matcha crème brûlée, custard crepe brûlée, ichigo, biscoff butter, Nutella, banana choco caramel, brownie choco, and s'mores. Soft serve is served 12-5pm daily I'm assuming and either in a cup or cone. There's only 1 kiosk so if someone in front takes long to order there will be a long line. I ordered the hojicha ichigo with oat milk, added strawberry cream and a biscoff which came out to $10. There's also two different hojicha's to choose from: hoji-ko and hoji-en. Hoji-ko has notes of caramel and nutty. Hoji-en has notes of cocoa and smoky. I ordered the hoji-en with my drink and it was delicious. My classmate ordered the seasonal rose lychee matcha drink and the other ordered the tiramisu matcha drink but changed up the type of matcha being used. There's 4 different ceremonial matcha provided: miki, yuga, shizu, and koku. Miki is floral and creamy, yuga is refresh and bright, shizu is umami and earthy, and koku is nutty and floral. The drinks are pretty small for the price ($20 for crepe and drink) and tasted more like water than matcha. Maybe it would've been better with the more umami matcha they offer. I liked the custard crème brûlée crepe but it also didn't really have a matcha taste and I think I just liked it because I love crème brûlée.
