* 4 Stars SOLELY for the Matcha- 1 Star for Service!!! * This one was hard to rate... it's been on my bucket list for a while and I purposely chose to come an a late weekday afternoon (12/10/2025 at about 2 in the afternoon). Here's my experience broken down: Service = 1 I walked in to an empty shop and THREE employees. They were all on their phones and talking to one another. One clearly saw me and I'm Perry sure the others at least heard someone walk in, but I was not greeted, acknowledged- nothing. I thought about walking out but decided to give Yume Mori a chance. They didn't acknowledge until I asked a question and still, the service was just bad. So bad it's the reason why I won't be back. Ambiance = 4 Super cute, modern space, but small with no space to really sit and enjoy your drink. Matcha = 5 The Matcha itself was really, really good. The quality of it is definitely aeons above your average coffee house. If you're not used to Matcha places, make sure you thoroughly stir any drink you get that has any add ins. For example, if you get the strawberry Matcha, make sure you mix it thoroughly before you drink it (something no one bothered to tell me here at Yume Mori). In all, if the service wasn't so bad I'd be back. But since it was, I'm heading over to try other nearby places for my next matcha fix. read more

I came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and the wait wasn't too bad (~10 min). The location is pretty accessible by public transport and the cafe space is nicely decorated. The drinks are pretty small for the price ($20 for crepe and drink) and tasted more like water than matcha. Maybe it would've been better with the more umami matcha they offer. I liked the custard crème brûlée crepe but it also didn't really have a matcha taste and I think I just liked it because I love crème brûlée. Been eyeing this place for a cool min and I'm so happy I got to go! I went around 12:30pm, I was worried it'll be super busy but it wasn't! There was no line and we ordered on the kiosk. I was so indecisive because there were so many good flavors for drinks and crepes. Honestly it got busy right when we were ordering and there was a line outside the door. The inside is quite small with these thin benches and all I thought were "ooo so you think i'm skinny " They were pretty comfy though haha. I entered Yume Mori not expecting much, thinking, "another matcha place in Berkeley? It's gotta be a cash grab," so they've already got my bias working against them and I *still* gave them 5 stars because the matcha was unexpectedly great! Yes, the cup is small but these ratios are very similar to how I make my own cup at home. Too much milk will dilute the strength of the tea and make it impossible to take the subtle flavors of matcha, and based on the taste, they use plenty of matcha! That said, I am somewhat of a purist in that I exclusively take my matcha straight or with oat milk, so I can't speak to any of their flavored drinks, but why would anyone need to try their flavored drinks when their latte is already perfection? The shop is a little out of the way from campus in south-ish downtown Berkeley, but plenty close to BART for anyone who's not a local student (such as the many alum living in the Bay Area). There isn't any real seating inside besides a couple (tiny) benches for you to wait on. There are a couple outdoor tables set up with metal chairs but those were crowded with a mix of students sipping their drinks and waiting for drinks, so I recommend planning to take your order to go. read more

We ordered the Matcha Tiramisu (Shizuoka) and the Matcha Ichigo (Mie) with strawberry purée, both iced with oat milk and regular sweetness. Both drinks were smooth, well-balanced, and flavorful. The staff is friendly. The menu is not large but they have great options, I wanted to try several drinks. This is what our party ordered: -Double Matcha 5/5, this was delicious, creamy and flavorful. It reminded me of the matcha I had in Kyoto. Excellent quality matcha and drink! -Matcha Ichigo 4/5: This drink would have been perfect if it had more of the strawberry puree. The matcha was delicious, but it tasted a bit bland after mixing it with the strawberry puree. I would try other drinks next time. -Tiramisu Crepe 3.5/5: I feel mixed about this crepe. While some bites were good, they lacked flavor. There was some Biscoff at the end of the crepe and a lot of cream in the middle. I wouldn't order this crepe again but I would love to try a different one. Overall, the double matcha was my favorite drink from this visit, and I would come back for it. Visited my best friend in the East Bay, and she took us to Yume Mori! Luckily we beat the rush and ordered from their menu right away. There's 2 types of matcha you can choose from - Mie (floral) and Shizuoka (umami). I chose Mie for my Double Matcha. We waited for awhile before we got our order, but I think it was worth it! The Double Matcha was delicious and rich in flavor, and the Matcha Creme Brûlée crepe was not overly sweet. I enjoyed the crispy bits it came with. I also love the aesthetic of the cafe, it's minimal and unique. Parking is a bit hard on the weekend, but luckily we found some street parking after a few rounds of driving. After enjoying some freshly brewed hot tea, I wanted to end with something a bit sweeter & creamier. Yume Mori's playful menu design & somewhat simple selection really intrigued me. They're apparently relatively new to Berkeley but I still can't believe I just found out about this place! The shop itself is very small, so the line ends up spilling outside and kind of clutters the doorway making it a bit hard to get in and out of the shop. Thankfully, people were pretty understanding of the saturation and made sure not to be in each other's way. Once you reach the front of the line, you're greeted by a kiosk for ordering. They only have kiosk ordering so you can't pay with cash if that's what you prefer unfortunately. While you're waiting in line, you get to watch every single drink make its way down the assembly line. Each component of the drink is meticulously crafted. From measuring the milk to balancing Biscoff cookies on the rim of the cup-- each team member was very skilled in their task & made sure each drink was perfect. We ordered the Coco Matcha Cloud and Hojicha Ichigo. We did not make any adjustments to the ice or sugar levels but we did opt for oat milk in the Hojicha Ichigo. The oat milk actually worked really well with the Hojicha and did not take over the entire flavor profile of the drink. Neither drink was too sweet. The tea in both of them was also not overwhelming. I appreciate how light and somewhat floral each one was. The price per drink is about the average cost and we were definitely happy to see that it wasn't on the more expensive side for a matcha. Really great experience! I was visiting emeryville over the weekend and this was just 10 mins away from me, so I stopped by. I went here Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon. I ordered a double matcha with regular sweetness and it was so good I came back for the same matcha the next day! Pumpkin spice hojicia is (5/5): For some reason I think the Hojicia drinks are much better in Berkeley than the matcha drinks. The pumpkin spice is a fall edition drink. If you are new to hojicha, it is a flavorful, nutty, roasted drink that is not as caffeinated as matcha. If you do not enjoy matcha and would describe matcha as "grassy" I'd recommend giving hojicha a try. To order, the touch screen allows you to order your drink with slight customization options. If you do have any questions about the menu, there is not someone immediately available to answer your questions compared to ordering with a person. The ordering is straight-forward with a self-serve kiosk. There is an area to park in front of the store but it is a bit tricky to get a spot. The inside is has a neutral, minimalist vibe which I thought was nice. The menu had a lot of things that I wanted to try, but I ended up getting the Matcha Tiramisu. In terms of the matcha, I thought it was solid. The matcha was smooth and there were no dreaded clumps at the bottom of my drink. I think the topping fell a bit short for me. I love Tiramisu and I didn't really get the tiramisu taste. The price is a bit expensive as well for a small drink (~$8). Overall, I liked the quality of the matcha and I think if I had gotten the classic double matcha I would've liked that better. You order on the kiosk. The shop is a bit small and does get pretty packed, so you might have to wait outside and periodically go in to see if your order is done. The creme brulee topping was delicious, although a bit too sweet for me. It felt like I was taken back to Japan while I was eating it. It's definitely very filling as well. Seating wise, there's a small bench to sit on indoors, and a few tables and chairs outside. As for the matchas, I do appreciate how they let you pick your preferred blends and even the roast level you would like for the hojichas! Went in on a Saturday afternoon and there were a decent amount of people waiting for drinks but not ordering. They have a self order station so the process is seamless. The place looked very clean, cute and minimalistic upon arrival, and there was no line when we came on a Monday afternoon. Matcha Latte (reduced fat milk, regular sweetness): Opted for a standard matcha latte rather than a double matcha, which I will be trying next time. I personally enjoyed this matcha despite the slightly bitter aftertaste that other reviews mentioned. The only issue I have is that a matcha latte of this size for $7 is personally not worth it... However, I do want to try their Matcha Tiramisu, so will be coming back when I'm in the mood to buy a matcha out.
