    I was skeptical that this place with good given the name but surprisingly the Matcha here is very delicious! There are a lot of different flavors to choose from and I've got the pistachio Matcha while my friend got the mango Matcha with Boba. I was very pleased that they had pistachio flavor since I don't see it super often at other stores. Both were a perfect sweetness and very delicious (I asked for less sweet for reference). The Matcha flavor also comes through and the drink has a good amount of earthiness to it without being bitter. The inside is relatively spacious and there are often students doing work on their laptops, as well as groups of friends, chitchatting given the location. This is a great spot if you're ever in the mood for matcha in this area of Berkeley! Would love to come back.

    This is my favorite matcha I've had so far in Berkeley. My favorites are the blueberry matcha latte and the white peach matcha latte. The matcha flavor is definitely present, and the fruit syrups taste really good and not artificial. It's not too milky either. I also love the small ice cubes. I get less sweet, which is perfect for me because it isn't overwhelmingly sweet yet isn't bland. There is a lot of seating, and the inside is clean and cute. The drink was ready in around 5 minutes.

    Made a special trip for the Kinako Hojicha Latte (only available during restaurant week, 4/2-12) only to find it sold out on 4/4! Bummer!

    Three stars because I made a special trip to get the Kinako Hojicha Latte (only available 4/2-12 for Berkeley Restaurant Week) and it was sold out on the morning of 4/4. That disappointment aside, I couldn't have been happier with my less sweet Kyoto Fog. But why spread news of the Kinako Hojicha Latte and its limited time availability if you don't actually have it?

    Pricey but very good matcha. I like all of their different flavors! My friend got tiramisu matcha, and I got ube (but I was eyeing the white peach or black sesame as well.) Lots of seating, but it's likely taken up by college students. One bathroom stall so expect a line. You order at a kiosk and service is pretty quick! The ube was sweet and flavorful.

    Binge is one of our favorite coffee spots! We're happy to see that they've opened another location in Berkeley; one that's much bigger. This was our first time visiting their new location and it was very spacious! Even though the shop was much bigger, it was still full of people; almost all of the tables were taken when we walked in. We ordered for pick up and were able to find an open table. We took some flicks of our drinks and tried some food items we purchased; pandan waffles and popcorn chicken. The coffee we had tasted great, like always. The pandan waffle was nice and chewy and the popcorn chicken was crispy and flavorful.

    Binge Coffee House opened 4 months ago where Feng Cha Teahouse once was. Interior renovated, place looks clean, brightly lit, full of happy laptopers drinking their libations. Many people ordered on a kiosk. I ordered at counter since I didn't have Credit Card with me. Briefly saw a menu somewhere. Sips: su da Viet coffee (5.95) small size, less sugar. -came in under 5 minutes. So surprised. Still tasted pretty sweet. Forgot to order less ice. Luckily ice was small crushed pieces. When it melted, didn't affect taste of coffee. Level of saltiness surprisingly ok. - still had a semi bold coffee taste. Offerings: Matcha, Viet coffee. Banh mi, pandan waffle. Yelp suggests Binge for patrons who like Mind Coffee. Advisory is so bogus. There's nothing similar between the 2. 4.5 stars Semi-worthy. Rounded up to 5 for great service. Quality: very good: no shortcuts observed. Quantity: reasonable. Similar to others. Lines may be long. Service with drinks is fast.

    Matcha and coffee flight for the thanksgiving season ~~ Drinks: Black sesame coffee was surprisingly my superior choice revealing a nutty cookie like taste. The Vietnamese coffee was strong yet perfectly sweetened without too much milk. Now, I am pleased to be open minded toward black sesame anything haha. Banana Coffee I appreciated its real banana purée which authenticates the flavor paired with the cheese foam. However it did not surpass socal Phin Smith's banana latte in fountain valley the cardinal hub of Vietnamese coffee. We had our own matcha flight ranking: (1) Pistachio, (2) strawberry shortcake and (3) ube. Pistachio Matcha was well executed from the foam to matcha portion. Ube Matcha was good but I wished for more ube taste even tho it was bright purple. Strawberry Shortcake Matcha was eye pleasing with adorable teddy grams on top and thru the drink elevated the marrying twist between them. Noted that some drinks offer varying sweetness baseline min levels such as no sweetness or 25%, ceremonial grade matcha is used for drinks and itty bitty ice. Food: The popcorn chicken as a snack was great! Good quality pieces that were not overly oily nor salty. The spicy option entailed a spicy ketchup not a chili seasoning coat on the chicken. Service: we ordered on kiosk but an employee was attentive cleaning tables and garbage duty. We appreciated orders were regulated to ensure proper pick up. Overall: we will come again when visiting the sibling at UCB

    Amazing Vietnamese coffee! I got an egg coffee and it came with a generous amount of egg cream. The coffee was thick, perfectly sweetened, and strong enough that I decided to let the ice melt a little before drinking more. Really appreciated that they filled the cup to the top and that there wasn't a ton of ice. Their vegan ham banh mi is also solid. It's nice that they even have vegan ham, since tofu often tends to be the sole vegetarian option for banh mi. I ordered on Snackpass and my order was ready before the stated time.

    I was really surprised to see yet another Binge location open up in the East Bay! I usually get their coffee drinks, so this time I went for the Melon Matcha to see what the rest of their menu has to offer. If you've ever had a Melona, or a Korean melon bar, imagine that melted into a shake and then mixed with matcha! It's absolutely delicious and super refreshing. The bitterness of the matcha adds a nice twist to this nostalgic flavor. I am really glad that even though Binge is expanding and opening multiple locations, the quality of their drinks has stood strong. The ease of ordering, at all of their locations, but especially this one, is streamlined by having multiple ordering kiosks. I believe his location has 3-4 ordering kiosks and you can order at the counter as well. Since the space is so large, it's perfect for studying for a bit or even a good spot for "working from home"! We came during their soft opening & honestly, I can't wait to see how they continue to grow. I already love how this location has Berkeley themed cup designs!

    Decided to give this location a try and it was a lot bigger than I thought! Love the amount of seating they had so definitely a great place to study or catch up with friends. I got the double matcha which I wished had stronger flavor of matcha but the cream was super yummy! The pandan matcha was a bit watery. The mango matcha is pretty heavy, more of a dessert matcha imo. The purple rice is pretty thick but again the cream on top is super yummy. Parking is pretty hard to find but it is Berkeley:) Would recommend to try if you're looking for a new matcha spot!

    Pumpkin pie Matcha
    Jacqueline N.

    $9.25 for an almond milk matcha es muy cara...BUT considering it's a pretty tidy space with plenty tables, free wifi, plenty of seating, and it's walking distance from UCB makes this place worth a try. The pumpkin Pie cream has a hint of pumpkin purée in it and topped with pumpkin spice. With fall drinks it's always a toss up of how much pumpkin they load up into your drink but it had just enough flavor not to overpower the matcha. The matcha itself was a nice color and went down pretty smoothly. I got 75% sweet which was barely sweet imo but it was good enough for me.

    I've been seeing Binge Coffee on my Instagram feed for months, so I was delighted when they opened a cafe closer to campus right on Telegraph. The menu features a variety of matcha and coffee beverages, and the black sesame matcha was calling my name. When I visited the cafe, there were about five people in line ahead of me - which is why I was shocked when I was able to order and receive my drink in less than five minutes. After I picked up my drink, a barista checked in with me to make sure my drink was perfect (it was). The black sesame foam slowly seeped into the creamy matcha latte, and it was just the pick-me-up that I needed after class. I can't wait to come back and try the other flavors - I spotted matcha pandan on the menu, which is what I plan to try next time.

    Caffeinated=happy :)
    Elaine C.

    This new Binge location is much larger than the original, taking over the former Feng Cha space, yet it still manages to be packed every time I visit. If you're over cream tops, I highly recommend the coconut coffee--it perfectly blends the boldness of a traditional viet iced coffee with the nutty richness of coconut milk. The matchas tend to be popular, but personally, I'm not the biggest fan. Binge Coffee House is quickly establishing itself as a Berkeley staple. Love to see the hype for Asian flavors!

    Hello, my fellow café junkies…read more I LOVE little cafés. I will happily spend my hard-earned money on an overpriced chai latte while sitting somewhere cute pretending I have my life together. So when I say I'm definitely not coming back here, just know it pains my café-loving heart. First, let me give credit where credit is due: the atmosphere is GREAT. Super cute. Super cool. Great little hidden spot. The service, however? SucKs--with a capital K. ‍ Here's how my first--and probably last--visit went: 1. We ordered THREE chai lattes: two hot chai lattes and one iced chai latte with oat milk. Pretty straightforward. Nobody was ordering a 14-step potion from Hogwarts. 2. We received only two drinks. So, channeling my inner Karen from Boyle Heights, I politely went back and said, "Excuse me, we ordered THREE chai lattes." 3. They told me they hadn't charged me for the third drink. Okay! No problem. I work my ass off. I don't mind spending money. Charge me, hermana. Let's get this chai flowing. 4. I took a sip of my supposedly hot chai latte and immediately my taste buds sounded the emergency alarm: NOPE. THAT'S COFFEE. 5. I looked at my husband suspiciously and asked, "Is yours chai or coffee?" He took his first sip and said, "This is coffee." At this point, the chai lattes had apparently entered the Witness Protection Program because nobody could find them. 6. I went back. To their credit, they were perfectly willing to remake the drinks. Thank you! And when we finally received the two hot chai lattes, they were actually GOOD. Crisis temporarily averted. 7. THEN I looked over at my friend holding the supposedly iced chai latte with oat milk and thought, Wait a minute... "Taste yours." He takes a sip. "This is coffee." GIRL. THREE chai lattes ordered. THREE chai lattes misunderstood. At that point, I wasn't ordering beverages anymore. I was participating in a listening-comprehension assessment. ‍ The person taking our order seemed rushed, distracted, and all over the place. And listen--mistakes happen. I teach for a living. I have patience. But when every single drink in one order is wrong, we've moved beyond "oops" and entered performance art. No manchen--venimos a gastar, no a pendejear. ‍ So here's my recommendation: If you're particular about actually receiving the beverage you ordered, you may want to try another café. Or, if this place has an app, USE THE APP. Let technology translate "chai latte" into "chai latte" because apparently the spoken version is giving everybody trouble. Better yet, buy your drinks somewhere else and bring them here. Then you can enjoy the cute atmosphere without participating in Chai Latte Roulette: Will It Be Chai? Will It Be Coffee? Nobody Knows! The place is called Hidden Café, and after today's experience... I can see why it's hidden. Cute environment? Absolutely. Would I trust them with another three-chai-latte mission? Esta mamona la cosa. Hard pass. ‍ Come for the atmosphere. Bring your own drink. And may the odds of receiving what you ordered be ever in your favor. Signed, A recovering Chicana Karen from Boyle Heights who just wanted her damn chai.

I've visited elaichi twice since in the area already and I plan on going back again. My first visit was on a Monday morning with a friend. I ordered the Banana Chai Einspanner (chai with banana sea salt cold foam) with oat milk and the Aloo Tiki Paratha Roll (potato fritter with cilantro chutney, red onion and garlic yogurt). My friend ordered a hot latte and the Paratha Quiche (tomato, red onion, Serrano and cilantro). We also shared a piece of Pistachio Cake. The Banana Chai Einspanner is simply the best drink I have ever had in my entire life. I am truly not kidding. It is so decadent, smooth, spicy, fresh. This is the best drink to grace this plant. My friend was really happy with her latte as well. I wouldn't say it strikes the "classic chai" chord, as this is incredibly sweet, so if you're looking for that, I would select a more basic option on the menu. It's also worth noting, the Banana Chai is a seasonal option for the summer. As for the food, everything was delicious. The Pistachio Cake was moist and had such great flavor. The crusts on both of our savory dishes were so flaky! I visited again on a Tuesday morning (yes the next day) and ordered the Banana Chai Einspanner once again and the quiche. Both were as delicious as the first time around. And the product isn't it all. The staff at elaichi are incredibly friendly. Even when the shop was busy on the Monday morning, we were taken care of with respect and care. I can tell the staff also have good relationships with those in the community. My friends got the Hot Matcha Latte & Ferrero Rocher Coffee. The Hot Matcha Latte was just underwhelming though I think the value is better. The Ferrero Rocher was just really sweet coffee. Imagine this.... You wake up at 8:00 which is a rarity and you climb up a hill to get to Mind. What you need is a drink made from the beautiful hills of Kyoto, beautifully blended with a Ferrero Rocher made in the quaint Italian cityscape, and creating a beautiful harmony of flavors that enlighten us. Safe to say none of that happened and now I'm mourning my 8 crisp, digital dollars... Also my tongue is coated in matcha powder and sugar help... Service is fine! In any case, just come to this place to study or for pictures lol. The aesthetics are definitely there, and that's definitely what they're selling.
