I was skeptical that this place with good given the name but surprisingly the Matcha here is very delicious! There are a lot of different flavors to choose from and I've got the pistachio Matcha while my friend got the mango Matcha with Boba. I was very pleased that they had pistachio flavor since I don't see it super often at other stores. Both were a perfect sweetness and very delicious (I asked for less sweet for reference). The Matcha flavor also comes through and the drink has a good amount of earthiness to it without being bitter. The inside is relatively spacious and there are often students doing work on their laptops, as well as groups of friends, chitchatting given the location. This is a great spot if you're ever in the mood for matcha in this area of Berkeley! Would love to come back. read more

Decided to give this location a try and it was a lot bigger than I thought! Love the amount of seating they had so definitely a great place to study or catch up with friends. I got the double matcha which I wished had stronger flavor of matcha but the cream was super yummy! The pandan matcha was a bit watery. The mango matcha is pretty heavy, more of a dessert matcha imo. The purple rice is pretty thick but again the cream on top is super yummy. Matcha and coffee flight for the thanksgiving season ~~ Drinks: Black sesame coffee was surprisingly my superior choice revealing a nutty cookie like taste. The Vietnamese coffee was strong yet perfectly sweetened without too much milk. Now, I am pleased to be open minded toward black sesame anything haha. Banana Coffee I appreciated its real banana purée which authenticates the flavor paired with the cheese foam. However it did not surpass socal Phin Smith's banana latte in fountain valley the cardinal hub of Vietnamese coffee. We had our own matcha flight ranking: (1) Pistachio, (2) strawberry shortcake and (3) ube. Pistachio Matcha was well executed from the foam to matcha portion. Ube Matcha was good but I wished for more ube taste even tho it was bright purple. Strawberry Shortcake Matcha was eye pleasing with adorable teddy grams on top and thru the drink elevated the marrying twist between them. Noted that some drinks offer varying sweetness baseline min levels such as no sweetness or 25%, ceremonial grade matcha is used for drinks and itty bitty ice. Amazing Vietnamese coffee! I got an egg coffee and it came with a generous amount of egg cream. The coffee was thick, perfectly sweetened, and strong enough that I decided to let the ice melt a little before drinking more. Really appreciated that they filled the cup to the top and that there wasn't a ton of ice. Their vegan ham banh mi is also solid. I usually get their coffee drinks, so this time I went for the Melon Matcha to see what the rest of their menu has to offer. The bitterness of the matcha adds a nice twist to this nostalgic flavor. I am really glad that even though Binge is expanding and opening multiple locations, the quality of their drinks has stood strong. The ease of ordering, at all of their locations, but especially this one, is streamlined by having multiple ordering kiosks. I believe his location has 3-4 ordering kiosks and you can order at the counter as well. Since the space is so large, it's perfect for studying for a bit or even a good spot for "working from home"! $9.25 for an almond milk matcha es muy cara...BUT considering it's a pretty tidy space with plenty tables, free wifi, plenty of seating, and it's walking distance from UCB makes this place worth a try. The pumpkin Pie cream has a hint of pumpkin purée in it and topped with pumpkin spice. With fall drinks it's always a toss up of how much pumpkin they load up into your drink but it had just enough flavor not to overpower the matcha. I've been seeing Binge Coffee on my Instagram feed for months, so I was delighted when they opened a cafe closer to campus right on Telegraph. The menu features a variety of matcha and coffee beverages, and the black sesame matcha was calling my name. When I visited the cafe, there were about five people in line ahead of me - which is why I was shocked when I was able to order and receive my drink in less than five minutes. After I picked up my drink, a barista checked in with me to make sure my drink was perfect (it was). The black sesame foam slowly seeped into the creamy matcha latte, and it was just the pick-me-up that I needed after class. They are perfectly thick with a lovely thick matcha foam on top too. They are packed with matcha and not watered down like many of the other matcha spots in the area. Special shoutout for the pebble ice and photo-worthy drinks. The service is surprisingly quick. Between a 3 and a 4 for me, so I'll give the round up. We got the peach matcha, the melon matcha and the tiramisu matcha. They were all pretty good but a little short of great. The melon was pretty unique, but I could drink the whole thing. The peach was a little buried and I think the tiramisu was probably the best. read more

A seemingly new matcha cafe in the UCB area! It was pretty busy when I had went, but they had several ordering stations available which made ordering easy and quick. They were super efficient with getting drinks out and looks like they also had a lot of online orders, which they had a separate fridge for. There was a lot of seating inside but not a lot of room for waiting, so we had just stood near the entrance kind of awkwardly waiting for our drinks but basically every table was taken so didn't really have a choice there. Drinks did come out pretty fast, even though I saw some orders after mine come out first but mine came out shortly after so no worries there! The matcha was super good and the peach was so fresh and sweet! I was so intrigued by this combo along with many more combos they had. I felt like the peach didn't overpower the matcha like some fruit matcha drinks do, and they complemented each other very well. Had the pistachio Matcha and it was delightful: strong and well blended Matcha with options for either whole milk, oat milk, or other adjustments to sweetness, etc. The pistachio layer was just the right level of sweetness and creamy texture with a little bit of crunchy pistachio on top. This one will become a regular for us. Also love the seating that they have which isn't always available around campus like this. I'm unfortunately giving this location 2 stars. My first visit was great, but my second experience was a disappointment. During my initial visit, the employee on shift provided excellent customer service. I ordered an Americano style matcha -- a nonstandard request and she did her best to accommodate it. The drink turned out delicious and since it's hard to find an Americano style matcha with salted cheese foam in the area, I genuinely thought I had found my new go-to spot. On my second visit, I asked for the same drink, simply substituting milk for water. I even tried to help find a way for it to be entered into the system, since I know firsthand how tricky that can be. Despite this, the staff told me they couldn't accommodate my request, even though it had been done for me not long ago. The inconsistency left a sour taste in my mouth and I ended up leaving without ordering. The drinks here are pretty tasty, but you may experience inconsistent customer service quality. I understand if there are firm policies around substitutions, but that didn't seem to be the issue in my case. I hope the customer service and consistency across staff can be improved moving forward. read more

The matcha here is really not good, you cannot taste any matcha flavor at all despite the deceiving green color. However, the coffee here is worth trying as it is pretty good, though often too sweet. I usually get a iced matcha latte with oatmilk and boba - the matcha is great quality, and they don't skimp on it like so many other places. I enjoy the fact that they offer a nondairy option, though it would be nice if they also did the foams (pistachio, etc) in a nondairy milk. The boba has been a bit inconsistent, though. Some days its a little undercooked and hard in the middle, while other days its too soft and barely noticeable in my straw...if you're able to get any at all (they are often out in the late afternoon). Seems like they still have a few kinks to work out, but they are still fairly new, so I'll come back in a few weeks to see if things improve. read more
