although this spot is one of the better ones in the east bay, I didn't enjoy the melon matcha I had when I came here on thursday. I had gotten two drinks: melon & banana. melon was a little too sweet for my liking but the banana was pretty good! I ask with no ice even thuo am willing to pay extra they refuse to do that so always I have to ask them for spoons so I can remove it my self My kids can't have ice so it will be nice if we can custom our drinks and you are welcome to charge for it even the snacks pass you can't add not to it hopefully they will fix this issue. Between a 3 and a 4 for me, so I'll give the round up. We got the peach matcha, the melon matcha and the tiramisu matcha. They were all pretty good but a little short of great. The melon was pretty unique, but I could drink the whole thing. The peach was a little buried and I think the tiramisu was probably the best. read more

All their drinks have been a hit. They are on the sweeter side, even if you ask for less sweet. From coffee to matcha to the food (from the opinions I've gathered from others), Binge is such a nice addition to Berkeley! I've been to both locations, and I definitely prefer this one because of the space, but the drinks have also been consistent between the two locations. Service is fast despite the craze and drinks come out quickly, but I recommend ordering via Snackpass to accumulate points. I do think about getting a drink once a week since it's within a very walkable distance, but that'd hurt my wallet. A seemingly new matcha cafe in the UCB area! It was pretty busy when I had went, but they had several ordering stations available which made ordering easy and quick. They were super efficient with getting drinks out and looks like they also had a lot of online orders, which they had a separate fridge for. There was a lot of seating inside but not a lot of room for waiting, so we had just stood near the entrance kind of awkwardly waiting for our drinks but basically every table was taken so didn't really have a choice there. Drinks did come out pretty fast, even though I saw some orders after mine come out first but mine came out shortly after so no worries there! The matcha was super good and the peach was so fresh and sweet! I was so intrigued by this combo along with many more combos they had. I felt like the peach didn't overpower the matcha like some fruit matcha drinks do, and they complemented each other very well. They definitely weren't stingy on the peach or matcha which was also very nice. Would love to come back if in the area again! read more

I love this place it gets me through hard weeks every time I haven't even been here a month and I already came here three times (my wallet is crying but I come out happier ). I loved the mango matcha and the white peach matcha! Sooo refreshing and yummy! I would pass on the blueberry matcha tho... Other than that lots of love and I'll definitely be coming back My friend said the banana matcha tasted really good toward the end! She liked the strawberry matcha as well! Really kind and thoughtful staff! Had the pistachio Matcha and it was delightful: strong and well blended Matcha with options for either whole milk, oat milk, or other adjustments to sweetness, etc. The pistachio layer was just the right level of sweetness and creamy texture with a little bit of crunchy pistachio on top. This one will become a regular for us. Also love the seating that they have which isn't always available around campus like this. An odd comment, but I also like the crushed iced over large chunks of ice, which they seem to do really well with their drinks. read more

I'm unfortunately giving this location 2 stars. My first visit was great, but my second experience was a disappointment. During my initial visit, the employee on shift provided excellent customer service. I ordered an Americano style matcha -- a nonstandard request and she did her best to accommodate it. The drink turned out delicious and since it's hard to find an Americano style matcha with salted cheese foam in the area, I genuinely thought I had found my new go-to spot. On my second visit, I asked for the same drink, simply substituting milk for water. I even tried to help find a way for it to be entered into the system, since I know firsthand how tricky that can be. Despite this, the staff told me they couldn't accommodate my request, even though it had been done for me not long ago. The inconsistency left a sour taste in my mouth and I ended up leaving without ordering. The drinks here are pretty tasty, but you may experience inconsistent customer service quality. I understand if there are firm policies around substitutions, but that didn't seem to be the issue in my case. I hope the customer service and consistency across staff can be improved moving forward. read more

Matcha was good! 9/10 matcha for me! Good sweetness and not overwhelming! The ambiance has great study tables, but definitely packed so you have to scout to find a seat! They also played really cute cafe/study music to listen to. If you need a quiet place to study, I would not recommend to study here since it is pretty busy and everyone is talking. Tried the banana matcha and thought it was pretty good! Though if you're not a fan of cheese foam (slightly salted flavor) you may not like it. It tastes more like a banana bread cream top. I usually get a iced matcha latte with oatmilk and boba - the matcha is great quality, and they don't skimp on it like so many other places. I enjoy the fact that they offer a nondairy option, though it would be nice if they also did the foams (pistachio, etc) in a nondairy milk. The boba has been a bit inconsistent, though. Some days its a little undercooked and hard in the middle, while other days its too soft and barely noticeable in my straw...if you're able to get any at all (they are often out in the late afternoon). Seems like they still have a few kinks to work out, but they are still fairly new, so I'll come back in a few weeks to see if things improve. read more

I have been going here for months now and was pleasantly surprised to see a new location on Durant Ave. This shop creates delicious coffee and matcha creations, along with tasty sandwiches and treats to grab. I am glad that the quality is consistent between locations. This spot is cute and super close to campus (even closer than downtown!) and I can see myself studying here. I love it so much that I visited 2 days in a row. We ordered binge house coffee, strawberry matcha latte, grilled pork banh mi, popcorn chicken and bbq pork banh mi. Everything was delicious. I used to go to the Downtown Berkeley location but since the Durant one is closer to me I've been visiting this one on the regular. I love Binge no matter the location. The drinks are good and always consistent - it's my go-to speciality coffee spot in Berkeley! The owner and staff are also always really nice to me. Been an early supporter of Binge and I have no plans of stopping :) The Durant location is bigger than the Downtown one. Nice, spacious place. The ordering system keeps the interaction with staff down to zero. They can see you but no greetings or eye contact. I was excited to try this new shop and really wanted to support them, but the pandan coffee was disappointing. The pandan flavor tasted artificial and overwhelmed the coffee itself--I could hardly taste the coffee. Unfortunately, it also left a bitter aftertaste that stuck around longer than I'd like. I'm hoping they tweak the recipe, because I'd love to come back and give them another try. read more

Came for an Egg coffee. Sold out so I bought the signature Viet coffee. Good taste, reminds me of a mocha. Really sweet though, even though I ordered it less sweet. If you like strong and sweet coffee, then the drink is for you. I love strong coffee, but hate it when it's too sweet so I probably wont be ordering the drink again.
