Was my drink refreshing? Yes. Was it worth the hour wait? No... absolutely not. They were doing a BOGO Free deal which was perfect because I had been wanting to stop by to try their new Guava Grape drink. The line was out the door, but didn't seem too bad so my sisters and I hopped into line to order our drinks. 30 minutes later, we finally got to order, which didn't really make sense given the # of people in line. Mind you, the entrance is narrow AF, so keep it single file for people to get in and out. They do have a back door, which is convenient if you need to leave out to that side of the street. Not really convenient if they have a long line as you'll need to walk out the main door to get into the queue. The menu is super limited. Do not expect the workers to be able to answer your questions. It wasn't really clear which drinks were blended or not, and when we asked the cashier just gave us a blank stare. There's def a communication barrier. We mentioned wanting to order 4 drinks and if we could just do the BOGO twice on one transaction. He said no... so we had to ring it up twice. WEIRD. The vibe of the shop is what I imagine hell feels like lol It's super super super HOT. Uncomfortably so. The seats are all rigid and cramped. It feels sterile in there, even though it's not, and it's just way too hectic inside for me. The workers were working their butts off, so I don't blame them for the wait. They were hustling. It's just truly THAT busy. My sister has been there before and she said its busy even without a BOGO so I guess this is the usual. Another 30ish minutes later, we got our drinks. They were good, they were fresh, but they were so not worth the wait. I liked that the sweetness level was perfect even without any adjustments. I thought the grape part was going to be like a muscat jelly -_- That's my bad though. Instead, the drink was a blended guava slush with fresh chopped grapes lol The fresh grapes were not my vibe at all. I'm not a tea person. I don't care for boba like that, and my whole review was based more on the experience than the drink itself. Take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Hey, Heytea has pretty amazing tea! Smells really fresh in the store, and looks very bright and clean modern. There was an order kiosk and we placed our orders via that, and it was rather self explanatory. The receipt contained a code to track your order, and ours was ready in around 10 - 15 minutes. There were seats by the pick up area which was nice. I tried their seasonal pistachio jasmine cloud drink, and enjoyed it. Nice and refreshing with very good pistachio topping. My friend got their coco mango drink and enjoyed that one as well. Loved the tea flavor in mine with the pistachio cloud foam. Would def try more! I got their app, and wanted to order some more items another night, but funny enough, as I was about to check out, one of the items "sold out" so I added another drink and then 2 other items "sold out" as well, so we went with another spot around the area.
Easy kiosk ordering. Large variety of drinks and I like that they offer sago for a topping for those that don't want boba. Limited selection for those that don't drink tea with cream or milk. The cloud jasmine was good with sago. The king jasmine guava was also good. We also liked the longjing cheese milk tea. Favorite was the supreme brown sugar milk.
King guava! Finally had the chance to order it and I love this seasonal drink. Usually it's sold out or unavailable - but thankfully now that school is out for the summer hopefully this means more chances to get it!
Stopped by to try their newest drink, the King Guava Jasmine, and it's my new favorite drink from Heytea! I don't know how they do it but it's a perfect balance between the two flavors. You'd think the guava would overpower the jasmine but it doesn't! It also has that signature creaminess that I love in their drinks. I have a sweet tooth and the default sweet level is perfect for me. Just like all the other locations, this spot is super busy but the staff are efficient and constantly pumping out drinks. They only had one kiosk open when I dropped by so I highly recommend ordering ahead on the app to save yourself some time. There's a lot of seating along the wall but the space is pretty small so it's not an ideal spot to sit and hangout.
We were in the area and were so happy to see that there was a Heytea nearby. We wanted something refreshing following our dinner and went with our go to: the coconut mango boom. I love how the drinks have the same taste consistency. Also, glad that their online system was still opened even though they were closing in 20 mins so that was a plus.
Great boba spot in downtown Berkeley known for their fruit drinks. I had the mango coconut boom and my friend had a pistachio drink (forget the name). Ordering at the kiosk was easy but we did have a bit of a wait due to a large order. I could taste the mango and liked the texture of the coconut milk jelly. Space is on the smaller side. I'd come back if in the area earlier in the day when it's not super busy!
Walked by and saw a sign out front advertising their matcha with matcha foam, so of course I had to pop in and order exactly that--and I absolutely loved it. The matcha flavor was strong and didn't taste watered down, cheap, or artificial. The location is convenient, clean, and the service was efficient. They have a strip of benches along the wall with tiny tables, which is nice if you're waiting for your drink, but I wouldn't say it's the kind of spot where you'd sit down with a friend to catch up or study since the space is pretty small. Overall, a solid matcha stop and definitely worth trying if you're in the area.
For anyone familiar with Downtown Berkeley, there is no shortage of good boba, matcha, and tea shops. My friends and I stopped by Heytea today for the first time and I was truly impressed with the quality of their drinks. Like my other favorite spot -- Chicha San Chen, I feel like the quality of the tea really stands out in the drinks here. That said, quality does not come cheap, nor is it fast. Due to how busy Heytea was, our order took about 30 minutes to be prepared. Major props to the hard working staff here: during the time that we were sitting inside waiting for our drinks, not a single staff member dropped a beat making drinks, because orders were coming in non-stop both in-store, and from their online ordering system. I would definitely recommend ordering a drink with their cloud foam, like their cloud jasmine tea. Most boba places serve cheese foam these day, but the one here is especially thick and decadent. If you appreciate good tasting tea drinks and don't mind paying a premium, Heytea is a great spot to check out.
When I ordered online, the estimated wait time was 10 min, but I ended up waiting another 40 min in the store, and my drink still wasn't ready. I finally checked in with the staff, and that's when they realized they had never started making my drinks. This is actually my second time experiencing this issue. On a separate occasion, I also asked a staff member for a bag, and she just placed it on the counter and threw the straws onto the counter as well.
This is easily one of my favorite chains to pop up as of recent. The drinks are fire, from the creative drinks to the tea to the toppings. I'm glad they're starting to have a bigger presence in the bay~ My partner and I spotted this location while downtown and popped in for a drink. SUPER CROWDED, holy cow. So many students. Cute furniture and setup, but every seat was damn near taken, and the waiting area is a skinny, long hallway that feels awkward to stand in. Regardless, our drinks came out within minutes of ordering. Efficient! COCONUT MANGO BLUE: Seasonal delight :3 Admittedly I'm a sucker for anything with spirulina or butterfly pea!!! Super fresh mango with layers of creamy coconut. And QQ sago!! Can't really taste the tea or spirulina but the chunks of mango are ripe and juicy. Perfect for summer! I've ordered this every time I visit this location!!! May they always bring this back every summer.
My sister brought me here while I was visiting & made me miss the bay even more at the time. They were busy at the time & had turned off mobile ordering. All in all, the customer service was great as they were catching up on orders. The drink was so refreshing! Fruit tasted fresh, and was a perfect drink on our drive to San Francisco. Had a chance to try Heytea's new Cloud Longjing Latte with Buckwheat with my sister through their 2-for-1 deal. We ordered through the app at home and picked up the drink from the storefront not too long after. The place was popping when we arrived near closing time, and the staff were pushing out drinks with the quickness! The store is pretty minimal in decor, a lot of seating but very tight space and not ideal for large groups. For my drink, I switched out the matcha cloud (default) with cheese cloud, less ice, regular sweetness. I noticed my tea was VERY strong and less milky than my sister's cup. The strength was almost espresso level! Because mine was less milky, the strength of the tea felt very concentrated on the tongue instead of dispersing throughout my mouth. I wasn't too keen on that. Flavor-wise, it was very bitter, warm, roasted, and rich, almost like a dark dark chocolate or strong espresso! Personally, it's not my taste, but the quality was definitely above average. I've not seen any other cafes or boba spots serve longjing tea (it was my first time trying it!), so come and try it yourself before it's gone!
This was my first time at Heytea, and it did not disappoint! I ordered at the kiosk at the front, and once my order was ready, my order number showed up on the screen farther back. I had to wait ~15 minutes for my drink though, so I recommend ordering ahead instead of in person. I got the cloud jasmine tea with less sugar and less ice. The cheese foam was soooo good! I have had Heytea before, trying the Triple Matcha and the Mulberry Boom. Triple Matcha: I think my favorite was the triple matcha with the combination of Jasmine and matcha giving a very strong green tea flavor along with the matcha heavy cream. Yingde Mochi Milk Tea: This time I tried their Yingde mochi milktea which was very unique. I had tried mochi milk tea before but the last time I had it, it was a choking hazard. This time however, it was a perfect consistency where it wasn't too tough to cause clumps in the bottom, but still soft enough to be sucked up through the straw. The tea also had a really nice toasty black tea flavor and I really enjoyed the complexity of this drink. It was also fun to open up the drink and scoop up the "mochi" off the bottom. I just wished I could see the pretty layers of this drink in a clear cup. I hope I can order this again next time! read more
On a hot day it is always wise to find something which refreshes you. The sun shining makes it easy to gravitate to cold drink especially with the East Bay heat. Sometimes the drink must have flavor. So I decided to go to place which has been consistently good to me. They have matcha for Don Juan de la matcha and bubble tea. They have a location in Downtown Berkeley and it's called HeyTea. On a Summer stroll through Downtown Berkeley I landed at HeyTea ( not Haiti). Inside they have some seating and a kiosk to order. To no surprise I ordered the cloud matcha on a sunny day for Don Juan de la matcha. It was refreshing and not too sweet. I then got the mango cloud which was juicy and tasty. It clinched my thirst. HeyTea is always consistent at all the different locations I tried. This tea place was founded in China so it's "Chinese" they sell many different flavor drink"teas " and although the drinks are cold they do not create a "brain freeze"and they sell matcha, mango, purple grape, and drinks with "cheese" When it comes to HeyTea my order is "automatic"it's matcha for Don Juan de la matcha call me a matcha" addict"because when it comes to matcha I get "emphatic" especially if there is a HeyTea and this one is located in Downtown Berkeley on "Shattuck" read more

My boyfriend and I managed to get our Heytea order in on the app. This is the first time I've been able to use it for a while, they always turn off online ordering due to being slammed in-person! He picked the grapefruit boom and I picked the crisp grape boom with brown sugar bobo. So delicious, the minimal sugar allows the grape flavor to shine through (particularly with fruits that possess an uncontested sweet flavor). I think Heytea really lives up to the hype that it has, and this location is positively teeming with young college students and locals that love the health conscious and minimalist aesthetic that Heytea espouses. read more
I was a little skeptical about HeyTea because of the HUGE hype around it but I was also curious to try. I will say they definitely live up to the hype! After my first visit, I've been a few times since. Their matcha surprised me for a tea shop specializing in an array of drinks, and I enjoyed it! I have yet to try their other teas and drinks, so I can't say much about them. Service is efficient! They have a whole assembly line of people working which seems to help them bust out a bunch of drinks quickly. Inside is quite small (almost like a hallway) with benches lined along the wall and around actual 2 tables. Definitely not too comfortable for staying inside in. It can get hectic inside, so definitely not the environment for studying. HEYTEA is definitely climbing up my ranks as one of my fave beverage spots! I can't wait to try their other drinks and get more matcha. read more
We went to get dinner in Oakland and found our way to Heytea, in Berkeley! Lol, whenever we go, we basically make it a mission to find the closest Heytea for an after meal dessert drink! Their mango coconut boom is an addiction at this point, it's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Highly recommend if you like mangoes! We were able to order mobile pick up, no problem, and picked up within 10 minutes after ordering. It was perfect since it took about 10ish minutes to get here from our previous location. Parking is street parking and we didn't have any trouble finding any spots at ~8pm. read more
I'm hesitant to say it's quite a 3 star but maybe it was my specific experience this one time a few weeks ago when I ordered the Coconut Mango Boom and it was more watery than I had hoped. Granted I did ask for less ice and zero added sugar That said, here's my thought process for the lower score. The place is nice for what it is, a meetup spot for many Cal students and plenty of foot traffic as well since it's right next to the BART station and on Shattuck. The drink itself was okay, and wasn't nearly as impressed as the hype made it up to be. At first maybe it was me but after a few friends also tried my drink they did note that comparative to theirs it was indeed more watery than either coconut or mango flavored. Personally I believe that a drink with fruits should already be sweet enough, I've been to other places where this has largely been true rather than the exception and have often enjoyed mango forward drinks because the natural sweetness is something that is refreshing In short, I would maybe consider adding some sugar to offset the lack of any sweetness but it felt more as if I was drinking an ice slushie with mango infused water despite the appearance seemingly appearing like a mango slushie. The mangos could have very well been out of season or unripe but still doesn't quite justify the drink being almost an ice smoothie. That said the last time I was here I did enjoy my drink, I do believe I got one of their cloud drinks but regardless this review is a reflection of the drink just being too watery to be even worth the $7 anyone would pay for I would come back mostly cause their selection is more unique but if the consistency isnt there it's something I'd prefer to warn others about read more

While I'm desperately wishing for a HEYTEA location in Contra Costa County (please bring it to Walnut Creek!), I'm glad there's at least one in the East Bay. I placed an order in the app, which I highly recommend, and walked 15 minutes to the Berkeley store. My order was ready and waiting for me when I arrived, and an employee thanked me for waiting when I picked up my drink. I had previously only had the coconut mango boom, a perfect dessert drink imo, twice at the downtown SF location. I only slightly changed it up by getting the Mango Grapefruit Boom this time around. While the grapefruit adds an interesting tart flavor to cut through the sweetness, I think I still prefer the coconut mango boom, which is also a dollar cheaper. I do want to try other drinks at HEYTEA. Ambiance is interesting; it feels like a narrow white hallway void of color. There's a decent amount of seating, but not the ideal space to sit with your laptop or read a book, especially when it's busy. Definitely more of a grab and go situation. Close to downtown Berkeley Bart station. read more
I've been to HeyTea all over SoCal, so I was excited to find one up here in Berkeley. I stopped by after dinner and got my drink pretty quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. Parking was a bit tricky since there's no dedicated lot, but that's pretty typical for Berkeley. Prices are on the higher side compared to your usual boba spots, but I see HeyTea as more of a specialty dessert place. I love their Mango Boom, and their matcha drinks hold up well against other cafés. The space is bright and inviting, though seating is pretty limited. Overall, I'm glad to have another HeyTea nearby. read more
Wow I had seen lots of Boba places with long lines but have a smooth system for getting the drinks out quickly. This place has it down to a Science. This place was super busy it seemingly went fast. We had ordered a Cloud. Matcha, Mango Pop Boba, and a brown sugar warm coffee like drink. It had seemed a short time, but the monitor let you when your was being worked on and your upcoming orders. Staff were hustling but they were very friendly and helpful. All the orders are taken on a kiosk. We will definitely him them up if i'm in the City or the San Jose location. read more

I tried this spot after seeing it on a travel video. It seems like there are lots of locations in SF and one in Berkeley. I'm not in that area a lot we went here just to try this spot. Of course parking is a hassle but that makes it an adventure kinda. I almost always order milk tea but decided to try the grapefruit as it is a low calorie drink. I was quite surprised by how much I liked it they offer lots of fruit tea, matcha, and milk teas. We wanted to try the green grape cloud drink like we watched in the travel video but they weren't offering it. We tried the other purple grape drink and it was still good and unique. The experience here is not like a normal cafe seems like a hangout spot we quickly ordered our drinks and not long after they were ready. If you're in the area it's worth checking them out or even traveling for something new. read more
My first time at this Heytea and I was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of seating and drink options! We did wait 25ish mins for our drink. I got the mango coconut bloom which was super delicious since I love real mangos in my drink while my friend got the cloud matcha which had less matcha flavor than we anticipated. Definitely a plus that there is a restroom which is super rare in Berkeley. Overall would recommend coming in! read more

I was excited to try the King Jasmine Honeydew based on the ads, but the drink I received looked like garbage with barely any white powder. The female worker right before closing had the worst attitude. The drink was already made terrible, and she aggressively slid it right in front of me. If you guys want to leave early, just turn off app ordering instead of taking it out on customers. read more
After finishing dinner in Oakland we wanted Heytea and found one in Berkeley! Now we are from out of town but we knew there's probably HT somewhere out here! Ordered on the app and pulled up. The place was definitely popping. There were so many people around inside front and back doors. We came thru, showed our order like any other location scooped the goods and dipped! Consistent quality with their operational procedures and machine equipment. Dummy proof i would say! Got our fix and we're happy campers, usually we end up going back for seconds haha but it was close to closing time. read more
5/5 stars for quality of beverages, but 2/5 stars for clarity of menu. The names are not specific or clear, what does the "broom" drink have it? Even the "mango cloud" is confusing, and I had no idea that the "passion fruit blast" would have popping Boba and passion fruit seeds in it. I drink a lot of Boba, but I usually do brown sugar milk tea, so when I order something else from the menu, I would like some kind of a description so I know what I'm getting. That being said, as far as I know, HEYTEA is one of only two chains that do not use imitation flavoring, and the quality of their drinks really cannot be beat. read more
Mango grapefruit boom was magical. Stopped by on a rainy night and ordered from a kiosk and waited about 15 minutes. They have a bathroom which is nice while waiting. There's a TV that shows when your number is ready, and our drink came out quickly given that there was plenty of people filling the seats inside. read more

Came here on a weekday around noon, and it wasn't busy at all! Ordering and waiting for my drink was super quick. The interior is very clean, modern, and bright, definitely gives off a nice "pick-me-up" vibe. There are a few limited tables, but still had a good amount of seating options. The staff were fast and friendly, which was great since there was no rush. For ordering, I recommend entering from the back, where you can easily order from the kiosk. Then, head to the other side to pick up your order at the window. Make sure to have your order number and receipt ready to show them! I ordered the King Guava Jasmine. It was pretty tasty and definitely lived up to the hype! As a big fan of guava, I enjoyed the flavor, though I would say it was more on the citrusy side than sweet, which I personally liked. The highlight of the drink was definitely the cream at the top - so good! My only minor notes are that it's slightly pricey, and they have limited non-dairy options. But overall, it was a great experience, and I love their drinks! I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu. read more

For the matcha lovers, this is the place for you! Heytea has been frequently recommended to me and they did not disappoint. Their matcha is of high quality. I don't normally order lattes, but the iced matcha cloud latte was amazing - frothy, earthy, and thick. Their mango drinks are also very delicious - my friend's favorite (and he barely craves boba drinks). 50% sugar or less is enough for it to not overtake the creamy and tartness of the mango. This shop has limited seating, but drinks were served quite fast despite the constant traffic in the store. read more
Good spot for fruity slushy drinks! I've been to HEYTEA in China as well as some of their other bay area locations and enjoy their drinks. However, they are on the pricy side so it's not something I would get often. I came by the Berkeley location on a Saturday morning right as soon as they opened at 11 am, and it wasn't crowded at all. This location is very long and narrow and a decent amount of seating for small groups. I wish their menu was a bit more descriptive of what their boom and cloud drinks are, as it's not clear to me. Since mulberries are in season, I tried the mulberry strawberry boom for $7.49. I got my drink 10 minutes later. I couldn't really taste the strawberries in the drink, but I could definitely taste the mulberries! There were a lot of them. Overall I thought it was a very refreshing summer drink and really enjoyed it. read more
HeyTea is one of the (many) new boba places in Berkeley, and since I am a big fan of boba, I knew had to try it out! I ordered the Coconut Mango Boom, while my friend ordered the Brown Sugar Milk Tea. My drink was so delicious -- it was super fresh, and you can taste the chunks of mango. I loved the different textures of the sago and coconut pudding. My friend enjoyed her drink as well. The space itself is narrow and a little awkward. There weren't many people there when I visited, but I can see how the spacing could be an issue if it was crowded. This place will definitely be added to my boba rotation locations in Berkeley! read more
