    All tasty

Plesantly surprised by a tasty and lovely experience at Bangkok By The Bay (BBTB). Dined here on Memorial Day on a double date lunch. We didn't have reservations, but was seated quickly. Our table decided to go family style and we shared a crispy crab salad, a noodle dish, shitake dumplings, and quite a few other street bites. My favorites included the crispy crab salad and the noodle dish. Neither was overly greasy and the crispy crab had a good crisp. Noodles were flavorful. All the entrees had a slight hint of sweet, but I wouldn't be surprised if some sugar was mixed into some of these dishes. Love the interior ambiance as the decor was modern and comfortable. Restrooms were also clean. Our group didn't feel rushed and we all had a great experience. Not sure how parking or lines to get in on any other day since BBTB is surounded by many offices and labs. Would love to visit again to try their happy hour and other entrees. #20/2026

The food here is amazing! 4 of us had lunch specials today and everyone was so happy with the meal. The lunch menu comes with soup or salad on the entrees. Portions are nice sized. Cool looking restaurant with tons of outdoor seating. Service is very good

The food here is absolutely delicious in every way. It is plated so artistically and the presentation is so beautiful. We had heard a lot about this place and it definitely lives up to the glowing descriptions. We had several dishes and each one was something to marvel at. They tasted as good as they looked. My favorite was the roti appetizer with curry dip. I had never had it before but it was recommended to me and I can't say enough good things about it! It was light and flaky and yet crispy at the same time. The service was very good, friendly and efficient. I definitely would like to come back here!

    Pad see ew with shrimp

Came for lunch on a weekday since I work close by. I got the pad see ew with shrimp, and my colleague got the pad thai. The food came out in about 5 minutes. I really enjoyed my dish, although it started getting a little too salty at the end. But we liked our meals. The only gripe I have is the prices for the dishes are a bit pricey than you would have at other places. There are plenty of parking spots on front of the restaurant, and on the curbside as well. I would come again.

Had a lovely dinner at this beautifully decorated and nicely spacious restaurant. We made use of their happy hour specials (M-F from 5-6pm), including the pau pia (crispy rolls), curry puffs, moo-ping (pork skewers), and roti + yellow curry potato dip, accompanied by our refreshing Bang Mods (aperol + prosecco). The specials were enjoyable, although nothing really stood out. We plan to return to try more of their mains--we only had the duck curry, which was the best thing we had; just the right amount of medium spice, duck meat, and veggies, all in proportion. We ended our meal the mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream, both were pleasant. Everything was pleasingly prevented and service was attentive, even on a busy night.

Delicious food and excellent service. We were greeted by warm and friendly staff upon check-in with reservations on a weekday. F o o d (5/5) * Pad See Ew with chicken - tasty with a right balance of salty and sweet. The wide noodles were cooked perfectly with the Chinese broccoli. It also came with a spicy, vinegary sauce for an added kick and dimension to the dish. Definitely would order again. S e r v i c e (5/5) Staff was attentive as our water glasses were never empty. We didn't feel rushed out as the lunch service picked up. A m b i a n c e (5/5) Industrial contemporary vibes. It is a lovely spot for lunch/ dinner with a charming patio for outside dining on a nice day/ night. Overall, a solid spot that brought me back to Thailand for a bit. I cannot wait to return and try the tapioca dumplings (Sakoo Hed) and the Short Rib Massaman Curry. **FYI, parking is limited to street parking so you may want to leave your large vehicles at home.

My daughter made a reservation for 10. Upon arrival, our table was set for our party. The restaurant is tucked away from the chaos and is nice and cozy. The tables and chairs are comfortable. Parking was easy this evening. (I heard lunch time can get crazy looking for parking), We ordered a few different entrees - satay chicken, dumplings, tom kha, pad thai, short rib masamun , braised pork and of course the mango sticky rice. Their food tasted really good. The portions for the entree can be shared by two to three people. Rice is not included (not a deal breaker). I highly recommend.

I stumbled onto this tastefully designed resto while looking for a Thai resto while passing by Berkeley. I loved that is was in a quiet and private area, much like a welcome oasis for the senses for the tired and a bit hungry traveller. Music was tastefully not loud, and was classify subdued. Staff and owner were both welcoming. For the food: Som Tum - 4/5 Khao Soi Gai - 3/5

Bangkok by the Bay was an excellent experience with wonderful service, delicious Thai cuisine, and the atmosphere was warm and decorated nicely. The restaurant is hidden from any main street and in a building that's across from a preschool or elementary school. There was plenty of parking and we were the first customers there. We were meeting friends and I would recommend this place whether you want a nice conversation with friends or if it's date night. They have a happy hour and we ordered everything on the happy hour menu. I had a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc which was ordinary and everyone else had the aperol spritzer. Every dish we had was prepared well and plated nicely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. They have a bar with big screen tv's, too.

I have ordered from Bangkok by the bay to go and also have eaten in. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and food is outstanding! I love Thai food but my husband isn't a lover like I am. He was blown away by our dishes. Everything tasted freshly made and flavorful. My favorites were the tom yum and the shrimp pad Thai but everything was delicious. We will definitely be back!

This restaurant is absolutely fabulous. It seemed new with very nice interior and decorations. Food is presented in a very nice way too, which I appreciate. They have an outdoor area for people with dogs. They are baby friendly as well - high chair, baby utensils and plates, etc. friendly servers, great food, ample portions, no reasons not to go again. Fantastic!

One of the staff members were so sweet and regularly checked up on everyone, but our main server was incredibly rude. My vegetarian friend wasn't able to eat eggs but the rest of the table could, so we asked kindly if it's possible to just have it put on the side. I understand if they couldn't do it for whatever reason, but we were just met with so much passive aggressiveness for asking. It made the mood very unpleasant. But honestly, I find it strange as most restaurants are pretty understanding of dietary restrictions and can make modifications to cater to their many costumers. I previously had their pad thai for takeout in 2024 and remember being very disappointed. That said, I would give it another try if dined in. RECS: + Pad see ew ($16) was good, one of the better ones I've had + Green curry ($16) was delicious and full of flavor! + Crispy pumpkin ($10) had a light, airy coating of batter and was paired with a tasty sweet and sour sauce

I've dined at both the SF and Oakland locations before. Oakland started off really strong for me…read morebut over time the food felt a little inconsistent, and the SF location personally just did not hit for me. But this Berkeley location? Okayyyy now let's get into it. Parking here is definitely challenging, so give yourself extra time. We came on Mother's Day with reservations at 2 PM, right before they closed for their dinner reset at 3, and we were still seated pretty quickly which I appreciated, especially with how busy it was. We sat outside on the patio and honestly it was such a nice vibe. They do have outdoor heaters if needed, but the weather was perfect that day. We did everything à la carte for a party of 7. Appetizers: Vegan Spring Rolls: 5/5 Super crispy and fresh. The chili peanut sauce was so good we kept going back for more. Crispy Pork Belly: 1/5 Way too overcooked for our liking. It came out super dry and chewy, almost like a thick pork jerky. Definitely not something we would order again. Main dishes: Panang Neua: 5/5 OMG. This was the dish I came for and it absolutely delivered. The meat literally falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The sauce leans salty, so pairing it with the blue rice balances everything out perfectly. So rich and flavorful. Crab Fried Rice: 5/5 The large chunks of crab really made this dish stand out. It was flavorful, not dry, and not overly mushy either. Solid all around. Hat Yai Fried Chicken: 2/5 Too thin and too dry for us. I would not reorder this dish, but the roti it came with was actually really good dipped into the sauce. Beef Larb: 5/5 Wagyu beef? Say less. This dish was perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. Straight chef's kiss. Yellow Curry: 4/5 Honestly you really can't go wrong with yellow curry here. Comforting, flavorful, and paired well with everything else we ordered. And of course we ended with the mango sticky rice to share because you simply have to. It was the mango on top to finish the meal. Overall, this Berkeley location easily gave us the best experience out of the three. Great service, beautiful patio seating, and several dishes that were genuinely memorable. We'll definitely be back for that Panang Neua alone.

Why is finding good Thai in the East Bay so hard?…read more We ordered pretty classic stuff--pad Thai that somehow leaned way too sweet, and a green chicken curry that was so watered down it felt more like a soup than an actual curry. It was a sweet and sour chili sauce cooked down with basil for flavor. It just wasn't for me. 2. Bowl of Tom Kha: this was my favorite of all things we tried and a perfect portion for one person. However we did share this bowl knowing we over ordered. Chicken was soft, mushroom the perfect texture. The soup was delicious. 3. Happy Hour: chicken satay. Chicken was slightly dry but it didn't ruin it for me. Also easy to eat off the stick. Peanut sauce was not over powering and a good balance of flavor. The pickled veggies that come on the side had the perfect crunch. 4. Moo Dang Dry Noodle: the meat was soft and very flavorful. I would recommend fully mixing everything before digging in. Definitely pair it with the pickled jalapeños they have to add the spice and crunch to it. Personally, didn't like this dish much either. I think it was the noodles for me, it was tasting a bit bland. But once I added the jalapenos, it was much better.
