My best friend and I grabbed dinner together at Sistory! Our initial plans didn't go through due to the holidays, but we're happy to have checked off a new spot. I've always wanted to dine at Sistory for brunch, but coming in the evening, it wasn't too busy. There was a steady flow of customers and take-out orders. The restaurant is warm, cozy, and quaint. There are several tables for pairs or parties of four, plus some artwork displayed. There was only one server who was juggling customers, but we were well taken care of. My best friend and I shared Roti Dip, Pad Thai with Chicken, and Yellow Curry with Tofu. The roti was so flaky and warm! The Pad Thai tasted good and was typical of the ones I've had. The curry was robust and flavorful! Being mild, it was a bit spicier than we had anticipated. So if you have a low spice tolerance, keep that in mind! We also got Thai Tea, which was refreshing! My friend and I came here around openning time on a Saturday and were sat right away. We ordered a Kao Soi and Pad Thai to share. After ordering the food came out really quickly and we were able to dig in right away after some pictures. Both dishes were huge and we definitely had left overs to bring home. The kao soi was very flavorful as it was sour, spicy, and very creamy due to the coconut. The egg noodles really soaked up the sauce and made each bite taste so good. I wish there was a little bit more meat in it though. The pad thai was very saucy tasted so good. The noodles weren't soggy at all and had a lot of meat throughout. We ordered the Pad kee mao, pineapple fried rice, and green curry. The Pad kee mao came with flat rice noodles, spicy saute sauce, eggs, bell peppers, white onions, green beans, tomatoes, and basil. We asked for it to be spicy, and it tasted really good. For the pineapple fried rice it came with rice, eggs, pineapple, cashew nuts, raisins, onions, and tomatoes. I'd say this dish was mediocre; it wasn't fragrant enough and tasted quite bland. The pineapple also wasn't very sweet, possibly because it's not in season. Stumbled upon this through Yelp, and really enjoy the food here. Very authentic with the real Thai spicy, medium spicy will make you cry. The roti in particular was so good and I normally don't even like curry the dip was just perfect and the roti was fluffy and crunchy at the same time. Attentive service. You could easily miss this place...but make a specific trip to stop in and enjoy. Inside was subtle decor just enough to say " oh that's nice" but not overwhelming. We were 3 to come in to make 5 all together. We sat in the quiet of the restaurant for a minute until this 10 person group made thier way in... making the place seem more warm and inviting. Down to the eats...I had to order fried shrimp rolls for an appetizer and yellow curry with fried chicken over basil thai fred rice. Been wanting to try this Thai place! Quiet and peaceful on a rainy Saturday morning but the worker was super kind and thoughtful. He pulled over a table for us because we were splitting two dishes and he thought we could use more space. Food was really good for a good price too. Pad Thai for $16? In such a large quantity?? Amazing. I even have leftovers. I never had Kao soi before but I would get it again. Has a nice kick to it too. I've had this restaurant bookmarked for quite sometime, so we decided to stop by for dinner on our way home. We didn't make a reservation but there were seats available around 6pm on a Sunday. There was already one large party and two other tables occupied when we arrived. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but they did have two tables available outside. We ordered the following: - Wings (3/5) - crispy on the outside but lacked flavor on the inside. The Thai chili sauce on the side would have tasted better if it was drizzled on top of the wings. - Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew (2/5) - this was their most popular item and it was very disappointing. The pork rib and shrimp paste stew did not taste good at all and made the entire soup sour. I couldn't eat it and my husband ended up eating it for me. The noodles were the best part. - Thai Fried Rice with Pork (3/5) - the pork tasted more like chicken and the rice was more moist so it wasn't a fried rice consistency. - Garlic Noodle (2/5) - could have used more garlic and the egg noodles did not pair well with the dish - Roti Gai Tod (3/5) - presentation was great and so was the chicken. The cucumber salad could have been more pickled. The curry was just ok since it didn't have a strong curry flavor. Overall, extremely disappointed with this restaurant even though it had such high reviews on Yelp...The amount paid did not meet the quality of the food. This is so yummy parking was OK when I came on a weekday around lunchtime however, I think during peak hours that might be a little bit more difficult to find so I would definitely come a little earlier or park a little further and walk over. Sistory Thai in Albany has a cozy interior and offers a menu of Chef Special dishes featuring regional Thai dishes hard to find in other restaurants! We started with the Papaya Salad (shredded papaya, carrots, green beans, tomatoes, chili, and crushed peanuts) and the Larb Kai (ground chicken, onions, cilantro, rice powder), both of which were intensely sour and spicy! From Northern Thailand, the Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew was a stew made of rice noodles in a dark pork rib and shrimp paste broth, served with pork ribs, pork blood cubes, ground pork, shredded cabbage, bean sprouts, and chopped long beans. The noodle soup had a nice balance between the dark, meaty broth and the fresh vegetables and brought me back to the streets of Thailand! Also from the North was Kao Soi, made of egg noodles and braised chicken thighs in an intensely spiced yellow curry broth, topped with pickled mustard greens and crispy egg noodles! My favorite dish (though not by far) was the Kao Mok Kai, which fused Northern and Southern Thai flavors on one plate. This came with a crispy breaded chicken thigh fillet served with roti (a crispy, layered flatbread), yellow curry sauce, cucumber salad, and turmeric-spiced jasmine rice, which was addictively delicious. With a weekend full of heavy rain showers, it was the perfect time to dip into Sistory Thai Kitchen in Berkeley for a solo date! There's plenty of paid parking spots outside, but coming after hours it was nice to skip the additional fees for once! Upon entering, I loved the overall aesthetic and vibe of the interior ~ warm, inviting, bright and just lovely! With this spot being a smaller business, I did notice they take reservations if wanting to secure/snag your table ahead of time (and have outdoor seating on a nice day as well!) Service was super attentive, and my meal came out promptly! I'm a huge fan of Pad Se Ew (with chicken), and also ordered the Spring Rolls as an app to start. Both dishes were fresh and full of flavor, and I can't wait to come back with a group to try more items from their fun & innovative menu! They also offer lunch specials during the week and Brunch on the weekends. We came here close to noon on President's Day to celebrate my sister's bday. It's smaller space than I imagined, but I've seen way smaller restaurants with much more limited seating. It's a quint atmosphere with the design and I enjoyed the Thai pop music that was playing in the background! Everything sounded good, so we ordered a bunch of stuff and had it family style. Interestingly enough, even though we came for brunch, we only ordered two brunch items. Let me just fast forward to the highlights: Thai Tea Pancake was new and unique to me, but very well executed. It tastes exactly how it sounds like! The lobster ravoli was also a hit. The ravoli filling was nice and smooth, not mushy. And it really paired well with the Tom Kha! The presentation for the lobster ravoli was good as well. Their roti's in general was good. The roti-rito is hard to share with 6 people though. The only thing I didn't like was the Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew. That might just be personal preference. But I saw there was not one, but two thumbs on it. So the thought it that it ain't just good, gotta be hella good! Noodles were good, soup was good, the spare rib meat was very nice and tender. The fall off the bone tender, but the pickled mustards and other green were a little bit too sour for my taste. Other than that everything was fantastic. Staff was very friendly and attentive as well! It was a cold day, and we were seated near the entrance. Our server turned on a portable heater and aimed it towards us. I had been wanting to try Sistory a while, especially since I was eyeing their tigery waffle and Thai tea pancake (I do wish they offered the waffle with Thai tea syrup, as I prefer waffles over pancakes) but I realized they sadly only offer their brunch menu on the weekend, so I opted instead to order curry puffs and a black mango iced tea. I ordered ahead on Uber Eats and it seemed the order was ready toward the beginning of the pickup window I selected, although I wasn't able to get there until later. The restaurant staff packaged it well for transporting it home; I was able to take my bag home using a combination of walking and bus without making a mess or spilling. They stapled the paper bag, wrapped the cup for the tea in two layers of plastic wrap, and put tape on the box for the curry puffs to secure the food. I really appreciate the care put into this since I've frequently had issues with my takeout sliding around and spilling when I had to carry it home, given I don't have a car. The black mango tea is bitter and not sweet, although you can pick up on a subtle fruity flavor. They also put mint leaves and a lemon slice in it. I thought it was alright and not a bad price ($4) though I personally would've preferred less mint and lemon flavor and more of the mango. The curry puffs were really good, very savory and buttery. It goes well with the yellow curry sauce. I do wish they included even more curry dip with it. The small amount of salad that was included with the puffs was also pretty good, it tasted pretty well marinated so you would like it if you prefer a more vinegar-y, fermented flavor and prefer not to taste as much of the plain flavor of the vegetables themselves. Although this is in the appetizers section and it's only slight less than the cost of most of Sistory's main dishes for lunch/dinner, I would say it's a good enough portion for one meal if you're not someone who eats huge portions. Overall, I thought the food was yummy. The only things I'd change would probably be upping the quantity of the puffs and curry, making the mango come out more strongly in the tea, and offering their special brunch items on weekdays - though I totally understand why it may not be practical based to offer the brunch menu every day of the week. read more

Small restaurant but with a mighty menu. Street parking is available but can be challenging if you don't go early. Their drinks are good like the Thai tea coffee and plate presentation is on point. But the price didn't match the flavor of their food. Their appetizers were better than my meal, like the curry puffs. Although the description was curry heavy, it was light and tasty. The bread on both avocado toast and Sistory scramble was not toasted, maybe that's preference, but it didn't compliment the scramble dish at all. Just served as a base. The food was served at room temp too, not hot. Service was quick and prompt too. Maybe their lunch items are better? 3 stars for high prices and lackluster flavor. But maybe I have to try their lunch items next time. I would say it's definitely worth a try and be a judge for yourself. read more

The place does look a little small, so I'm glad we came for an early dinner. We got the Papaya salad to share. Be warned, it is SPICY! Our server asked if we wanted medium or hot... we said medium? And I like spicy, but I constantly had to drink from my water. If you want the papaya salad, but don't like spicy, I recommend asking if they can change it to no spicy. The fish sauce was a little strong, as well. I don't mind, but it didn't go over well with one of my friends. The other dishes we got were Massaman, Kao Soi, Yellow Curry with chicken, and Pad See Ew with chicken. Everything tasted really good! My favorite was probably the yellow curry and the Massaman. True to past visits the details of flavor, presentation, and freshness were spot on. This was my first time for take out. I must say the same quality goes into those little boxes. It looked 5 Sta5 on our plates at home as well as here. They are a little more pricey here, but I know I will get quality. Reservations here are a must, as it is so small. I love many a Thai restaurant on San Pablo and this one didn't miss! Got to come here with 2 of my foodie sisters on Easter Sunday -- we were able to reserve no problem and service was fast and friendly! The ambiance of the place was really cute, cozy, and homey with exposed brick and fun decor. I especially loved their use of mini mason jars with handles as a vase and a larger mason jar with a handle for my Thai iced tea. There was a bunch of food I wanted to try so def need to go back, the menu had a good mix of savory traditional Thai and also the staple breakfast items. My husband and I were looking forward to trying Sistory ever since they opened in our neighborhood. last night we had dinner and we were impressed! Each dish (chicken satay, papaya salad and garlic pepper stir fry) was seasoned perfectly with nice spice levels. We think we had the best chicken satay we've ever eaten. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally made reservations. There wasn't an online reservation system and I called ahead of time to book a table. Surprisingly, it wasn't as crowded as I thought for Saturday brunch (before 12pm). There was street parking available up front at the time. For drinks, I had the February 15 which was lovely and very light. For the meal, I had the spiced maple chicken waffle which was good and pretty filling. My friend had the thai tea pancake - she did mention that the pancake was super sweet already and didn't need the syrup. Interior was very cute and perfect for photo ops.
