I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally made reservations. There wasn't an online reservation system and I called ahead of time to book a table. Surprisingly, it wasn't as crowded as I thought for Saturday brunch (before 12pm). There was street parking available up front at the time. For drinks, I had the February 15 which was lovely and very light. For the meal, I had the spiced maple chicken waffle which was good and pretty filling. My friend had the thai tea pancake - she did mention that the pancake was super sweet already and didn't need the syrup. Interior was very cute and perfect for photo ops. Came in with my 3 brothers and assorted partners for a Sunday brunch of 7. At 11 am there was space for walking even with our giant group. Our party hadn't seen each other in a while so it was lovely that we weren't rushed out even after the check dropped and we paid. The brunch menu has breakfast classics and Thai brunch twists. I ordered the Sister Benedict which had a fried chicken thigh and yellow curry hollandaise. The flavors were really great but I was a little off put by the fact the egg was cold. I also had the lemongrass lemonade which was very refreshing. The bf had the tofu Pad Thai which was pretty good - I could have used some more spice and the sangria which he enjoyed. The Thai tea pancakes were also lovely and fluffy. The food came out promptly and we only had to wait a little while for my one person's salmon to make it to the table. We decided to try this place out for lunch since we were craving Thai food. We ordered delivery through Uber Eats. I'll start with the bad... the packaging was not great. We ordered the Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew and it looked like it was packaged while it was way too hot to the point that the soup container top was deformed (picture below). It also spilled in the bag. The vermicelli came in foil and when I unwrapped it from the foil, it was in a plastic sandwich bag that was also extremely hot. The Paradise Pla Krob spilled a bit too. For the food itself, the dishes were okay. Their special Kanoom Jeen Nam Ngew was tasty but the vermicelli doesn't absorb much flavor. The pork ribs were good in it though. Also, the dish is pretty spicy, so I'd recommend adding that to the description in Uber Eats because it doesn't mention it being spicy at all. My boyfriend had the Paradise Pla Krob and he said the fish was good, but the broth was just okay. Personally I thought the fish in his dish was a bit sweet, so if you're not a fan of sweet and savory, I'd try another dish. Given the prices of these dishes at $22-$23, the portions were smaller than other Thai places we've ordered from and we weren't blown away by the taste. You know those dishes where you take a first bite and all you can do to describe its deliciousness is to make a lot of noises of happiness? That's what happened after I tried the Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha soup from Sistory Thai Kitchen. Decadent, rich ... a perfect complement of flavors. You'll just have to try it because words don't do it justice. If you're still hung up on the concept of lobster ravioli floating around in Tom Kha, I don't blame you -- it was new to me, too. But Sistory Thai Kitchen bills itself as "Contemporary and Authentic," and it lived up to both with the dishes I ordered via UberEats: the Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha and the Crab Fried Rice. The Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha had that familiar creamy, slightly spicy, rich coconut milk broth of Tom Kha, but with the added bonus of delightful pouches of lobster-stuffed ravioli, as well as onions, mushrooms, tomato, and baby corn. The broth served as both a soup and a light sauce for the enormous ravioli (the portion was pretty generous, with about 5-6 large raviolis). Because the lobster was enclosed in the pasta, it allowed the Tom Kha broth to shine on its own, and each component retained its distinct flavor. I ordered the Crab Fried Rice based on the rave reviews on Yelp, and it was probably one of the best crab fried rice dishes I've ever had, with big lumps of crab and nicely seasoned rice. But I'd still say the soup was the standout. At $19 for the Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha and $24 for the Crab Fried Rice, the prices might seem a little higher than average, but you're definitely paying for above-average quality food, and shellfish is normally expensive as it is. So maybe save this spot for a special occasion or a group outing. Based on the dishes I tried, I can't wait to explore more of Sistory's authentic creativity ... and eat more of that Lobster Ravioli Tom Kha, of course. read more

Sistory lay roots in the previous Sabuy Sabuy 2 location on San Pablo. Looks like it has received a very warm welcome so far based on the reviews and the amount of people inside and lining up outside. Reservations are recommended if you plan to dine in, especially on the weekends as there is limited seating. They recently added brunch to the menu so we got a variety of items. Menu has a flair of fusion with a creative assortment of scramble/Benedicts, Thai tea pancakes, spiced maple chicken and waffle, Roli Roti, which is a fried fish wrapped in Roti. There was even a Thai lobster ravioli on the lunch menu! Although I'm a little wary of some fusion types, I'm tempted to try this. The lunch Thai dishes were excellent - we ordered pad Thai with prawns (they don't skimp on the prawns!), crab fried rice, yellow curry, pad cashew with tofu, and fried calamari. They can even accommodate for dietary needs- they made my partner's dishes vegan and subbed for brown rice. The breakfast items we ordered were good and very IG-worthy but I think I may stick to the authentic Thai dishes, which were so delicious- my mom couldn't stop complimenting the food, especially the crab fried rice! They offered us a seat at the side before promptly providing us water. We took a look through the menu and found plenty of breakfast and brunch options. I ended up ordering their signature Sister Benedict, which had a generous portion of fried chicken on the side. The plate was perfectly balanced between the egg benedict, fried chicken, small portion of salad, and potatoes. It was quite filling but not enough to pull you down. Honestly, we probably didn't need to order any entrées after that, but we did. We went for the whole fried branzino which was really good with the crispy skin, but the sauce a little too sweet. We also ordered a kind of stirfry with very tasty and properly cooked pork belly. We ordered the lobster ravioli in tom kai broth, which was good. Overall, the service was good, the portions were healthy, and the ambience was nice with lovely light jazz music playing. My only problem was that the food leaned on salty and too sweet. A cute little Thai and Thai fusion restaurant across the street from Tokyo Fish Market. There's only metered street parking, no private lot. I came on July 4th, a Tuesday around 11:30AM and it wasn't busy so was seated right away. There's an alcoholic drink menu with some fun cocktails and they were advertising bottomless mimosas on the weekends for only $22 per person. Got the curry puffs appetizer and it was super fluffy and soft and I liked that the curry sauce was on the side so you can customize how much curry flavor you want. There was also a nice fresh pickled cucumber and onion salad on the side which was good too. The beef Benedict was good. The most amazing part is their beef in the beef Benedict was just like simmered beef in pho! So flavorful and deep. The potatoes were nice and crispy. The best one was the Tom yum fried rice! It was soooooooo flavorful. Now it was too spicy for me but I also can't even eat white pepper, so no surprise here. Even though it was spicy and I was dying, I kept eating it because it was so good. I reached a point where I even got a glass of milk just so I could keep eating it without dying lol. So if you can handle spicy food, I recommend the Tom yum fried rice. The salmon it comes with isn't really seasoned because you need to dip it in the sauce! The sauce is also spicy fyi. The soup it comes with is pretty interesting. Its a perfectly seasoned curry, with noodles and beef or chicken (but we chose the beef). The beef was soft and chewy and basically melted in my mouth. Definitely one of my favorite thai dishes to date. We devoured it so fast and i was quite sad when it was gone. The portion size was a good amount but definitely on the smaller side for the price which was $22. We also got the Pad Ped Moo Krob. The pork is thick yet has an amazing crunch. With the rice and bell peppers, it was definitely filling and flavors melded well together! I personally enjoyed the Kao Soi more because the curry was just so rich and scrumptious. My boyfriend liked the Pad Ped Moo Krob more though so I guess it really is just personal preference! Both were great. We finished it off with the Roti Cha ice cream which was good as well. The thai ice cream went well with the roti. Wish the roti was slightly crispier and flakier but overall was glad to end the meal with it! read more

A wonderful experience dining in this small Berkeley restaurant. It was really nice to support a restaurant that has an all-woman front of house staff. The vibe of this small restaurant was very cozy and almost boutique like, which I really enjoyed because it gave me a home feel. To the food: Per usual, my friends and I (4 of us total) got quite a few dishes just to try a bit of everything. We started with the curry puffs and crispy roti. I personally preferred the curry puffs because the thickness of the filling paired well with the liquidity of the sauce. The crispy roti was also good but wasn't as special in my opinion. We got 4 entrees: Kao Soi, Pad Pak, Pad Kee Mao, and Tom Yum, listed in order of personal preference. I will admit I'm definitely biased because I had a great experience with Kao Soi in the past and now love it no matter where I go. That being said, it was delicious and the meat on the bone was so tender. I would say the rest of the dishes were exactly what you would expect. We tried different proteins and different vegetables with noodles and rice and they were all delicious, but not particularly special. The Tom Yum soup was good but pretty standard for what I've tasted. Definitely recommend this place for a cute date spot or a small get together with friends. If you have a big party, I would definitely recommend getting a reservation. I also heard they have a really good brunch but haven't tried it yet! read more
