    Donuts

Everyone in Hingham told us about this place, and for good reason! Everything we ordered was incredible. I loved the lemon and ricotta ravioli and complimentary breads. We also ordered the donuts for dessert and they were good but not quite as good as the after dinner mint or cherry cake desserts looked. Service was fast and friendly and I really liked the slightly formal atmosphere.

Every thing was good. The ambiance, waitress, drinks, food... I am so impressed. I look forward to returning to Tosca

We picked Tosca to celebrate an anniversary and it exceeded all expectations. We reserved a table for 7:30 on a Friday night and were seated in the middle of the dining room quickly after walking in. The dining room is expansive and open, with views of the kitchen, brick walls and large wooden beams running across the ceiling; it was a cozy place to be during the night. Our server came over to us a few minutes after being seated and brought over a basket of bread and olive oil with mased chickpeas which was devoured within minutes. We decided on the 'Box of Shrimp' appetizer and I ordered a ribeye special and my partner ordered a lobster pasta special. The appetizer was fried shrimp and fried vegetables on a skewer, and came it came on a bed of arugula with a addicting tartar sauce. Our entrees arrived just after we finished the appetizer and the ribeye was cooked perfectly and was covered in a demi-glace that complimented the meat well. The roasted carrots and mushrooms on top of the steak were delicious and there was also a fried potato pancake. The lobster spaghetti had large chunks of lobster, with a buttery and slightly acid sauce, and the texture of the house-made pasta was great. After polishing off our entrees, our server was extremely impressed and brought over a

My boyfriend and I love Tosca! It's our favorite spot the staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Best steak I have ever had. We went for my birthday just so I could get their Wagyu. Would definitely recommend!

    A Piggy Back Sour

On a recent super-hot and steamy Sunday, we took visiting friends from 'interior Pennsylvania' to Plymouth for a Whale Watch. In other words, despite living in Eastern Massachusetts for more than ten years and being a frequent visitor to Cape Cod for more years than that myself, it entirely slipped my mind that the traffic back to Metro-West from Plymouth on a late Sunday afternoon was going to be, well, not good. So, we decided to follow a shore route north and (consulting Yelp, of course) look for a good dinner stop along the way. That stop was Tosca, which I had bookmarked on Yelp either because someone recommended it or because I had read something favorable about it. Once we were in the door and smelled all the great smells from the open kitchen and saw the very comfortable setting with upscale decor and white tablecloths, we already knew it was a great decision. Our party included a mix of seafood lovers and seafood 'no thanks,' and Tosca has something for everyone. Drinks: Tosca has a very cool craft cocktail menu. Our group ordered a BEE'S KNEES (Four Corners American Gin, Citrus Honey Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice), a CABANA BOY (44 North Nectarine Vodka, Cointreau, White Cranberry Juice), and a PIGGY BACK SOUR (Whistle Pig 6yr Rye, Simple, Fresh Lemon Juice, Egg Whites, Muddled Peaches). The fourth person found the perfect beer. As a side note, I ordered the Piggy Back Sour. I hardly ever order house-special cocktails. I usually find them too sweet, and I like my Manhattans and Martinis. But this drink sounded appealing because I like peaches very much, so I asked the waiter to ask the bartender to go very easy on the simple syrup. They did, and I loved it! I had two. Appetizers: For the seafood lovers, we had a dozen local (Duxbury) oysters. For the other folks, we ordered the fried green beans special. Everyone enjoyed their appetizer very, very much. Entrees: The meat lover among us had the VEAL SIRLOIN PARMIGIANO | $39 (Fired in the Wood Oven, Tomato Sauce, Sliced Munster & Mozzarella & Roasted Broccoli). The pasta lover had one of the specials: Mushroom Ravioli (it's not on their website menu, so I can't tell you more about this one). The first seafood lovers had the FENNEL CRUSTED SEA SCALLOPS| $41 (Avocado Puree, Spring Vegetable Medley, Confit Tomato, Toasted Chorizo). However, while the dish included fennel, the scallops had no crust, which suited her just fine. I'm also a seafood lover, and I had the PAN-SEARED ATLANTIC COD | $39 (Leek & Spring Pea Risotto, Caper Lemon Sauce, Frisee Salad). Once again, everyone LOVED their dishes! Dessert: Just kidding. We were much too full for dessert. But the dessert menu the waiter insisted on leaving did look awesome. I'm thinking about another trip to the Hingham near dinner time.

    Chicken "Under A Brick"

We were considering Tosca for the rehearsal dinner the night before my son's wedding in December at Red Lion. So we decided to go there for dinner with my son and his fiancée and sample some of the dishes offered in the package. It was an awesome experience. We ate in the same wine room where we would rent it out for our 33 people and have it to ourselves for the rehearsal dinner. It's a beautiful room with a private bar. Everything we tasted was great from the first bite and we shared all the dishes... so we could try everything. We started with the entrée size Lemon Ricotta Raviolis, which were delicious. Also had Chicken "under a brick", Wild Boar Bolognese, Angus Sirloin Medallions and Veal Sirloin Parmigiano. We got to meet Pat, the GM, and everything tasted so good, and the service was great, so we knew this was the place for us. We are so looking forward to a great meal and event. Can't wait!

No need to go into Boston for a lovely meal!!We made a reservation via OpenTable for Valentine's Day & were seated right away. For drinks we got wine & an old fashion. To start, oysters, so good. The bread comes with a bean oil dip which we devoured. For our meals we got two specials. I got the lobster tortellini & my partner got the veal chop with gnocchi and Brussel sprouts. For dessert the toffee cake with carmelized pecans; amazing. Our server was amazing. The restaurant was not too loud. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We will definitely be back!!

Had a most excellent dinner this week with some friends. We shared oysters which were perfect and I had the pork Milanese. The pork was incredible and cooked perfectly. The other meals also looked great (lamb chops and the steak). Highly recommend Tosca.

Still one of the best restaurants in the Boston area. Great service, Italian food, and steaks, with plenty of parking in the lot behind.

When we checked in with the hostess and asked for bar seating, she said they have two reservations that requested bar seating and those seats are being held for them. I informed her we are probably one of those requests. She checked again and simply replied "we have a table for you". Ok, fine. When we get to the table, it is wobbling back and forth. The place was crazy busy and we didn't feel like flagging someone down to deal with it, so my wife and I just sat with our feet on the base the whole time and that held it steady enough. We then ordered a couple glasses of wine. They are NOT shy about the prices here. Each glass costs between $15-19, and the pours were small. We'd guess either 4 or 5 ounces. We ordered Foie Gras as an app. When it arrived, we asked for some bread to go with it. To our surprise, when the bill came, they charged us an extra $3 for the bread. When you order a $27 app, and two dinners each costng over $50, to add $3 for bread seems a bit petty. I ordered the skirt steak medium rare and it came out bloody rare. My wife ordered the scallops. They were served in a broth that was loaded with salt. Ruined the whole dish. All in with tax and tip, we dropped $250. For that price, this was a disappointment and we had wished we dined elsewhere.

I didn't understand the hype then, and I especially do not understand it now. My taste may have become more discerning in the last six years, possibly because I am no longer a broke college student. Then and now, Comella's was fine; it wasn't the flip-flops served by a place that rhymes with "Abdominos," but at the same time, it was absolutely nothing to write home about. My friend is less adventurous than I am, so we settled for mozzarella sticks and a cheese pizza. I was there primarily for the company, not the food. The mozzie sticks were OK. They had a decent crust/breading, and the cheese had some stringiness (that "grab on and pull"). They could have used more herbs/spices in the coating to liven them up. Similarly, I found the tomato sauce a bit bland. These feel like a middle-of-the-road store brand prepared in the air fryer. (Not saying that's what they do, just what they feel like). The pizza is similarly lackluster. The crust is nicely thin, with a fair amount of cheese and sauce that stays in balance with the crust. However, the tomato sauce was dull, and the cheese was plain mozzarella. While trying to avoid sounding like a broken record, some herbs or garlic powder would have been amazing. Also, considering how quiet it was, the service could've been more attentive. The calculus for a broke college student going with the flow and someone having graduated is different. While I definitely wouldn't have minded Comella's in my college days, now I don't feel the pull to return. While there was nothing glaringly wrong that would reduce their rating to two stars, there is nothing remotely special to have me choose them over the tens, if not hundreds, of similar places closer to me.
