Pea Risotto. Delicious!

One of the best chef's in Boston hits it out of the park! Let me describe to you the perfect night out: We arrived at Essex on Broadway at about 5:30pm and went up to the roof deck bar for fantastic cocktails and oysters. The views are incredible, the atmosphere is lively and the service friendly. After enjoying our delicious libations we went downstairs to the main floor restaurant for dinner. This intimate restaurant with elegant bar is very stylish and sexy. But, the best part was the food! OMG incredible! I am a bit of a risotto connoisseur and this pea risotto was the best I have ever had. The parmesan sauce....scrumptious! So full of flavor when many 5 star restaurants make this dish so bland. I can't wait to go back to try the Cauliflower Steak. Thank you to the chef for having two vegetarian entrees on the menu! So often I have only one or no choices. My three meat loving companions all had the steak and all cleared their plates. My son said the accompanying potatoes were one of the best things he has ever eaten and all three steaks were cooked to perfection. On the topic of potatoes; The Za'Tar fries were flavorful and crispy. Perfection finished off by the deconstructed s'mores which were a delight. After dinner we proceeded back to the roof deck bar for one more celebratory drink (comped on the house for my husband's birthday...so sweet of them!) with perfect timing for a gorgeous sunset over the Boston Skyline. Truly a perfect evening. My only regret is we did not take more photos I could share with you! The restaurant is brand new, so I suggest you get in while you can. As soon as word gets out this place will have a line out the door!

This place is closed. The hotel where it;s located is pretty crappy. Their morning coffee is abysmal.

The service is great too, they clear your empty plates right away. The restaurant's right by the harbor, so you get an awesome view of the ocean while you eat. It's seriously a great spot.

I decided the this spot since it was indoors mostly and it had rained all day. There were several people helping working the hostess stand. There were several folks walking around gathering info. i.e. Table 15 was paying etc. The noise is busy and charming. There are several TVs streaming sorts. Go sports! You can stand at the end of the bar and order drinks if you like while you wait. After I was seated, I was promptly brought water and had my order taken. I got a cup of chowder and the lobster roll (hot with butter). I got both my chowder and lobster roll in under 10 mins of ordering. Well oiled machine. The chowder was hot and salty and creamy. The perfect combo with the rainy weather. The lobster roll was good but I wish it would have been hot. It was closer to room temp than hot. The lobster roll was marked market price and was 40$. The cup of chowder was 10$. Overall good spot when you have the time to wait but not worth the 40$ price for the lobster roll.

I had eaten at The Daily Catch's Brookline location years ago (it no longer exists), and I always…read moreremember it as a great meal. So when I was visiting Boston with my husband two weeks ago, I thought this Waterfront location would be a great spot for dinner on our first night in Boston. The family behind The Daily Catch opened their first business in Boston (in the North End) in 1973 - a small storefront selling calamari. Since then, it's become a bit of an institution in Boston, with several locations and now a full-service, large-menued Sicilian-style seafood and pasta restaurant. I waited an hour outside their Brookline location when I ate there years ago, and the wait was worth it. People who have eaten at their North End location may remember waiting for a bit, too. But this Waterfront location? THEY TAKE RESERVATIONS. Hallelujah. We had a reservation for around 8pm on Friday night and were seated at our table right away upon arriving. The restaurant is beautiful but understated - not flashy or too modern - with indoor and outdoor patio seating. The service was top notch. Our server was PJ, and he was incredible - helpful, friendly, always checking in with us. But even other people stopped by to make sure we didn't need anything. The menu is pretty large, and I wanted A LOT OF IT. Unfortunately, we were only two people and had to order responsibly. We shared the stuffed calamari (calamari stuffed with herbed bread crumbs, pine nuts, and raisins, and served in their red sauce); a Caesar salad (classic, and we added anchovies on top); their black pasta aglio olio (ground calamari, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, romano cheese, and parsley); and their monkfish marsala (pan-seared monkfish medallions with mushrooms in a marsala wine butter sauce). What I loved? That stuffed calamari. I had it almost ten years ago when I ate at their Brookline location. I remembered it, and we had it again. It's an incredible dish. There's a reason their black pasta aglio olio is so popular. It's a classic and very delicious. The ground calamari is such a nice touch, and the dish is fresh and super garlicky and delicious. (They serve their pastas in the pan - it's something they are known for - a charming touch!) I also think their drink menu is great. I had a great glass (or two?) of wine white from Sicily (Pietradolce Etna Bianco - a 100% Carricante grape wine from the Northern slopes of Mount Etna), while my husband had a cocktail (or two?). The only thing that kept this from being an absolutely perfect dinner was the monkfish marsala. The monkfish was cooked beautifully cooked, but I found the sauce very off. It was bizarre - it tasted like maple syrup to me. I think the marsala was too sweet or not cooked out enough or - is it possible?! - something was added for additional sweetness and the balance was off. Way too sweet for me with the fish. We ate the fish but tried to get as much off the sauce off as possible. The only miss in a meal that was otherwise wonderful in service, ambiance, food, and drink! The Daily Catch is a classic for a reason. If you've always wanted to try it, this Waterfront location is great - since they do take reservations here! Great Sicilian food in the heart of Boston.

Our sever was friendly and took us through all the specials... which ended up being more than half the menu. Food arrived quickly, so overall pretty good service. I ordered the grilled octopus appetizer. It was smokey and tender. Served with white beans, grilled onion and celery. It made for a good entree if you aren't too hungry

It was the perfect Fall day in Boston under bright sunny skies with unusual 70 plus degrees to walk around and enjoy this fine day here ! 1973 Boston Hanover Street was introduced to this amazing restaurant that has served countless meals to Boston and the world! I have seen lines upon lines of hungry people waiting patiently on Hanover Street to get to sit and experience one of the hottest North End Restaurants! Roughly 20 guests at one time can be seated! YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE TO GET A TABLE CLOSER TO LUNCH TIME THAN WINNING THE LOTTERY! So, be prepared to be transported to Italy and take in the restaurant's charm knowing that your dinner is being made fresh just a few feet away by its incredible Chef! 5 Star Award by the "Boston Globe Newspaper" plus countless written articles have been written for this 50-year-old jewel of the North End! But I give it my own 5 STARS! THIS CONTINUES TO BE OWNED AND OPERATED AS A FAMILY RESTAURANT! You will not find another restaurant that has the charm and atmosphere it gives to its guests! You sit so close to each other that you are considered family! Anticipating our dinners, our waiter " GERMAN", was the most gracious, helpful and polite! He made sure our experience here would be memorable and satisfying! We had the Special Broiled Haddock, with lemon & butter and breadcrumbs and perfectly seasoned with a thin layer of crust on top! Sprinkled with fresh parsley! Our other dish was a combination of Clams and Calamari on a bed of Buttery linguine and seasoned garlic, butter, parsley white sauce, which if your adventurous you ask for more Italian crusty bread to dip and sopping up the remaining sauce! This was truly delicious! We had to share. It was too good not to! Our two top table in front of the window overlooking the passersby on Hanover Street were the perfect spot! It was our own private space to focus on our meals while behind us the magic was happening at the open kitchen! The Chef worked his magic and right from the stovetop and oven came our meals not even transferred to a plate! We, served ourselves and that was a nice touch that we had hot food right from the Chef! When you go and I know you will......... Make sure you wait for that table for two at the front window.... Thank you to our accommodating Hosts, that made us a wonderful meal and memories to share!

I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that they opened a location in Pasadena just two months ago. I'm so happy to hear that, and I'll definitely be visiting them there! Another wonderful food experience and a beautiful memory to add to our Boston trip. Highly recommend!

Grilled Octopus over mixed greens with Cherry Peppers and a balsamic glaze: A delightful surprise! The octopus was incredibly fresh, tender, and succulent, bursting with umami and a smoky aroma. The sweet and sour balsamic vinegar followed subtly, lively yet deeply penetrating the texture; the lemon juice added a refreshing and layered flavor. The sauce was also delicious with the greens. Shrimp and Scallops Fettuccini with Giacomo: The standard menu order is linguine, but we could ask the server to substitute other pasta, which was a thoughtful touch. The fettuccini is wider, with a better texture and more grain fragrance, although I felt it was cooked a bit too soft, softer than al dente. The shrimp and scallops were large and fresh, making for a very satisfying meal. Giacomo sauce is supposedly a lobster-based marinara sauce with a touch of béchamel sauce. The lobster flavor is actually quite subtle, but the combination of the two sauces avoids being overly sour or greasy. Plus, there's a generous amount of sauce, making it easy to mix. Overall, it's quite good. The restaurant is rather cramped, and the seating isn't very comfortable. A 20% tuition fee is automatically applied for groups of 5 or more. However, a waitress accidentally spilled water on my sleeve and didn't apologize immediately; she only brought me tissues after I asked. Thankfully, it wasn't hot water...
