I treated myself to BayPointe to get my favorite baked stuff lobster dish on Mother's Day. I was happy to know they had lobsters and I always call beforehand just to make sure. Bay Pointe removes both claws from the lobster which I appreciate and puts the whole claw meat under the stuffing mix. On this particular day only 1 claw was found. When I inquired about the missing claw I was told it was cut up in the stuffing mix. First of all, I have been to this restaurant many times ordering this same dish. So, tell me why 1 claw meat would be cut up and not the other one. Once the explanation was given it was utterly bull. I've never had the claw meat cut up and mixed in with the stuffing and as far as I'm concerned it should never be an option to do that. If so, I probably would not order this dish anymore. I want to see my claws in it's entirety and not cut up. Bottom line lobsters have 2 claws not 1. Both should have been in the dish and basically it wasn't. This will not deter me from coming to this establishment, but please think about your response before providing an answer that doesn't make any sense. I can't wait for the patio to open so I can enjoy the outdoor rays. read more

My husband and I have been longtime patrons of Bay Point, which is why our recent experience was so disappointing. After putting our names on the waitlist for an outdoor table, we hoped to wait near the outdoor bar in case seats opened up. We were told by the veteran short brown-haired bartender to move elsewhere, which we did. Later, when I returned to close our tab, I noticed several other guests standing in the exact same area where we had been told we could not wait. What bothered us most was not the wait, but the inconsistent treatment and dismissive attitude we encountered. When I mentioned the situation to the hostess as we were leaving, she immediately seemed to know which bartender I was referring to and apologized for our experience. We understand busy restaurants have policies to manage crowds, but after years of enjoying Bay Point, this interaction left us feeling unwelcome. Unfortunately, we do not plan to return. read more

Ok these is my 3rd time at Bay Pointe and I must say the service and wait staff are amazing but Bay Pointe isn't for me. This time i tried the stuffed trio. It isn't something I would get again. For me it lacked seasoning. We also had the calamari which i so don't like when they add peppers. read more

Come for the views, but not the food! Inn at the Bay, or at least that's what we used to call it back in the day, used to be a great restaurant. I would come here with family, friends and enjoy the boats going by while sipping on a cocktail. But, this was not the same experience we had last night. We came here with my Mom and husband on a glorious sunny and warm evening. It was packed! I gave my name and number to the hostess and she told me that there were a few people ahead of us and would text me when our table is ready. Cool! We strolled over to the bar area to grab a glass of wine and a few moments later, that text came. Score! Our outdoor table was ready! We sat down overlooking the water and boats and had our server come over with water. I normally order bottled water so when he came back I ordered small bottles of sparkling water for us all. He then came back awhile later to see if we wanted to place a drink or app order. We shared their Caesar salad and buffalo tenders. The salad was good. The tenders were just ok. Not enought buffalo sauce to them. Then, after waiting a bit for our table to be cleared (service was very slow) we placed our entree orders: I had their Scallops with 2 sides; Mom had their Broiled Scrod; Hubby had their Steak Tips. Food: I will say that the fish here is very fresh so I will give them that, but there was also no flavor to the sides or the dishes themselves. It was very bland. But with some lemon, salt and pepper, the dish tasted much better. Side note: We were a bit disappointed when we got the bill later the steak tips were $38 and our fish dishes were around $30. I think the price point was a bit higher for a south shore "just average" seafood restaurant. For dessert we got the caramel bread pudding which was good and flavorful. My husband had their PB ice cream pie and I did not like it at all but that is just me. Service: I know it was packed and there were only a few servers on, but it seemed to take a long time for us to order, and get our food. I will say that my other problem was the server never cleared the table unless it was our food. We had empty glassware, dirty side plates and silverware and cans on the table and this is a huge pet peeve of mine. I ended up getting up and clearing the glassware. Would I go back again? Definitely not for dinner, but I would sit at the outdoor bar again and have a glass of wine or cocktail but not anytime soon. read more

9 of us went here for lunch we were seated promptly ( had reservations) Our server did his job well. Very attentive and accommodating He was happy to split checks to 3 tables of 3 each and to accommodate a persons gluten free request Clam chowder could have been hotter, 4 of us ordered it and all agreed. We didn't say anything because we attributed it the fact that we were there shortly after they opened so it may not have had a chance for it to warm up I had the baked seafood. Oh... Yum! My friend is a sweetheart. He takes me there on HIS BIRTHDAY and it's a very special treat. It is a comfortable and clean. Hosts are great! So nice. Host changed our table to to a seat away from noisey little kids. Too young really. I just don't know what some folks are thinking. Anyhow,we were saved by the table change. Our server was super cool. I think her name was Katie ... I hope... sorry if I got it wrong. (Shrimp so fresh it jumped off the plate and back into the water! Hahaha.) Shrimp cocktail, sweet and huge! Yum! I had the tuna ... Oops, I meant the swordfish steak with potatoes and esparigus. My friend got a 2 lb stuffed lobster and he was very happy with it. He's tough to please as he grew up on the Cape. The bar option to forgo the wait list is great. The service at the bar is very good and the bartenders are really on the ball. And plus we were hungry and had an inkling for quality fresh seafood & warm ambience. Fried Calamari Nicely seasoned, light breading and fried quite nicely. Pro-tip, always check underneath the pile of your fried calamari. If there's a puddle of oil, it's not done right. Seared North Atlantic Salmon A generous portion of salmon cooked beautifully and packed with flavor. Major points for the cucumber wasabi sauce. Lobster Roll Chunks of delicious lobster meat were pouring out of this generously stuffed lobster roll. Lobster was both cooked and seasoned nicely, the bun buttered just right and toasted, and served with a small basket of fries. Come & stay for the food, warm service & breathtaking views. Side note, As a Yelper, one thing I like to do is to actually read the poor & not so flattering reviews. And I've noticed a common theme with most of them... most complaints come from not so active Yelpers frequently complaining about price. .... You're going to a somewhat fancy seafood restaurant who prides itself on having all items fresh & is in the waterfront in this economy and you complain about price??!! I mean come on... The woman with the short hair and the younger woman with the sleeve act like it's an inconvenience for you to ask for a drink. It was our first trip to Bay Pointe for lunch. We did not eat outdoors today because it was very hot out, but the outdoor seating is beautiful on the water and would be my first choice on a cooler day or night. There is A nice bar outside that gives you a "beach vibe". Dining Room seating is so lovely with large salt water aquariums down the center of the dining room. The menu had so many choices from fresh seafood, sandwiches, salads, soups, and lunch choices. The kids menu also had a large variety complete with drink and ice cream. Our table had chicken penne pasta, The seafood platter, a lobster roll, and kids chicken tenders. The portions are plentiful. The fried seafood platter was very good with shrimp, fish, scallops, whole belly clams, fries and Cole slaw. Each piece was lightly battered and seasoned. The chicken pasta was delicious. I had the lobster roll. It was over flowing with large chunks of deliciously cooked and seasoned lobster, with slaw on a toasted bun. A basket of fries on the side completed my plate. The kids chicken tenders were kid approved and the French fries were fresh cut and very good. Our server was very attentive and fun. He made suggestions and checked on us throughout our meal. I look forward to returning here on my next visit to Boston and would highly recommend for both the waterfront ambience and good food. read more

Came here for lunch with my friend (we are both servers) and the service was terrible at the outside bar. After reading multiple reviews, apparently this is reoccurring. The older woman with short hair acted as if us two sitting at the bar nearly killed her first born child. My friend ordered a drink and to make everything more convenient I let the bartender know I was ready to order a drink and our food. She said "I need a minute but what do you want to drink". She makes my drink, we order, and our meal comes out before the appetizer. She notices and clearly doesn't care. She had a terrible attitude the entire time. Checked on us when we were pretty much done and we asked for boxes and the check at the same time. i've been here once before and I guess it's fine as long as you don't sit at the outdoor bar. We had a great dinner at Bay Pointe. They don't accept reservations for people with five or fewer. For Saturday night, we waited about 20 minutes for a table for five. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a variety of dishes to share family style and the food didn't disappoint. The baked lobster was delicious. The paella for 2 was enough for the entire table. It had a bit of heat to it, but it was tasty. The parking lot gets packed very quick, so try and get there early to find a spot to park. read more

On a picturesque weekend, I made my first visit to this establishment for an early dinner. The weather was ideal, and we were fortunate enough to dine outdoors. My companions opted for the fish and chips, while others chose the seafood bake,Cobb salad and a pasta dish. The Caesar salad selected by my companions was the least favored, as the chicken was dry and lacked proper seasoning. They complained about this while the waitress was grabbing plates but she didn't do anything or ask if they'd like something else despite hearing the complaints. I, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp scampi and white sangria. While the waitress's attentiveness was very lacking, the overall experience was enjoyable. I've been coming to this restaurant for years when they still had the "Inn at Bay Pointe" in the name before it became Bay Pointe restaurant. The food has always been pretty consistent, my favorite being the seafood paella, mussels, and scallops risotto. However, the service can be up and down. I've had times when the waitstaff was out of this world and then I had a waitstaff where I felt a bit unwelcome or gotten a bit of an attitude from. This most recent time we had about 15 min before we sat down so by the time we got seated we knew what to order. We told our waitress what everything we wanted. Our appetizers came first but literally 1 minute after getting our appetizers we got our entrees. We were a bit taken aback because usually there's at least some time in between the courses. Not sure if it was because our waitress was new but we felt rushed to eat because we didn't want our food to get cold. The restaurant itself has a pretty nice view of the water and there is a giant fish tank as well. read more

We went there last night for dinner. We haven't been there for a long time (maybe 2 years). My favorite thing about going there is the bread and flavored oil that they bring over before you ordered. Well guess what? They no longer offer that and you can buy bread for $6. I ordered the $68. Baked stuffed lobster and my husband the seafood trio. With no alcohol drinks, the bill was $120. Really? Paying that much for a medioca meal and they can't give you bread? I'm hoping their sister restaurants continue with it. I probably won't go back, really wasn't worth the $$$ read more

Went there on Thursday afternoon and sat at the outside bar. Older lady bartender did not seem that friendly and. We asked for two sangrias one red one white she put them up in front of us and never said anything but normally they're garnished with slice of orange and a cherry, but that didn't happen either the taste was quite pleasant and we were happy enough to sit there and Drink. The waitress then put up two menus and asked if we were gonna have lunch I said oh I'm not sure if we're gonna have lunch, but we'll take a look at them at this point she kind of rolled her eyes at me so not a very good first start to our Trip to the restaurant anyway she came back and we ordered a charcuterie board which was very delicious. lots of different types of cheese and some fruit and artichoke the seasoned nuts fig jam. It was pretty comprehensive. It did have a few seeded crackers on top that would be my only complaint that there was not enough crackers and certainly there should've been more of a selection. I took a few pictures of our drink and I our selections and at that point the bartender seem to be a little bit more pleasant. When we asked for the check, it came and we paid it in cash, but there was an admin fee on the check which was a dollar and change. I'm not sure what this admin fee was but nowhere that I see a sign posted that there would be an admin free charged. It's just another way of management to sneak in a fee that people aren't aware about. read more

This is a nice local spot with some great selling points. Though I visited in the evening, the restaurant sits right on the water and would make a lovely summer time lunch spot. Service was a bit slow but our server was pleasant. I had the swordfish which was okay. It's ordinarily served with a crab and tomato risotto but I requested that it be served with mashed potatoes instead. I'd lose the crab so I asked for it as a topping which was a $5 upcharge. They did provide me with a decent amount of crab! My date had the prime rib. Of course I tried his food as well. We love prime rib and we both agreed that the prime rib was a bit tough here. All in all, the food is not spectacular, but it is decent. Given the prime rib preparation, I'd recommend you go with seafood if visiting. read more

Hubbie had baked seafood trio which looked better and was because of the large amount of butter used. I ordered asparagus as one of my sides, not hearing there was an upcharge of $8.00!! They were lousy and certainly not worth the upcharge. Additionally, they add a 3% 'administrative' charge due to increased product and labor costs! Not likely we'll return! This was between an 3 and a 4-star restaurant for me, but I rounded up. I went with my boyfriend on a Wednesday night for dinner (7pm). There was a wait to sit outside, so we sat inside near a window - no biggie. Service was friendly, but one thing blew my mind - I asked what kind of oysters they had and the server's response what "What do you mean? Regular oysters". Yikes! A seafood restaurant where they serve "regular oysters"? What even is that? To be fair, she did come back later and said "Did you mean where the oysters are from? If so, I asked and they're from Duxbury". Too late. I had already order shrimp cocktail instead. At ANY restaurant - especially a seafood restaurant on the MA coast - the server should be prepared to spout off the kind of oysters available for the day. She was nice, but I'm not sure how she works at a fairly nice seafood joint with no info on oysters. Even if she was like "let me check!", that would have been better than saying that they serve "regular oysters". Anyway - the shrimp cocktail I got was delicious. Large shrimp and pleasantly spicy cocktail sauce. For dinner, I got the mussels. It was a good portion, but the bread served with the mussels was very hard/stale (not in a good way). My boyfriend got a burger and fries. Fries were pretty good, but the burger was overcooked - closer to well done than the medium he asked for. Lastly - I got a couple of cocktails: the Naked Cosmo and a Manhattan. The drinks were pricey (especially the Manhattan at $18.50), but they were well mixed. Was there for a large party of 30 or so and the waiter was great . Ordered a drink and it was there in less than 5 minutes. Food is mostly seafood and that's , pretty much , what others in our party ordered . They said it was good but not great , the calamari had the tentacles yuk ! I had a salad with steak tips . 3 steak tips for $15 that were so salty and overcooked that they were inedible . Could've used as hockey pucks . That's the reason for the 3 stars . It's a nice place but a little pricey for what you get . Probably would go back at some point when we're in Quincy again . The 3% extra charge for , basically , nothing is ridiculous. We were about to leave when Emilia (?) the hostess tracked us down in the lobby and told us two people were leaving the outdoor bar right now and if we waited a few seconds we'd have two chairs. That she saw what was going on outside, followed us and smilingly informed us of this made two very tired people's night. 3.5-4/5 stars for Bay Pointe. I'm a big fan of Hynes Restaurant Group so had to try Bay Pointe. Getting here you need to go thru a shipyard filled with boats. Beautiful view of the water and restaurant decor gives you a beach decor. We ordered a lot of appetizers and they all came quickly for a Friday. Calamari was good but not crispy enough. Crab cakes were decently sized but we wished it was cooked longer. Clam chowder was sadly more on the watery side but the flavor is there. Bacon and scallops were amazing. Giving them one star might be harsh but so is spending over $150 and having a terrible experience. So here it goes, we got there and was told it would be a 30-45 minute wait for a party of 2. We sat there for over 20 minutes waiting, while he continues to do everything but make our drink. We called him over. Well he actually forgot about the drink lol. The sangria wasn't bad. For app I ordered the friend calamari. Let's say I've had better. And I'm sure you have too. Just fried nothing special. For main, I got the lobster ravioli. The meal came out fairly fast. But then the dish was extremely watery. Basically a ravioli soup instead of whatever "lemon butter sauce" they were planning to do. I asked the bartender if this is how the meal usually comes out. The most disappointing part is that he said yes and didn't even offer to take it back. I'm also disappointed in myself because I should have sent that dish back. The ravioli it self wasn't bad. The shrimp that they had over it was tough and tasted frozen. Nothing about this dish was fresh. The braised short rib probably the only good thing about this night. They do charge a great deal to swap items. So be warned. The bartender had the nerve to ask if the meal was good outside of the sauce not being as expected. Of course I said no. What kind of thing is that smh. I don't plan on going back to this place. You can try it and see but just know not to have high expectations like I did.
