    Crabcake dinner

If you have ever taken a walk along the Nantasket beach or experienced the ups and downs of its boardwalk, you likely have gotten a strong sense of the family atmosphere that pervades this beach. It's fitting then that Jake's Seafood, family-owned and operated for more years that I want to count, is nestled behind the boardwalk strip as a fixture in the area. Seafood is fresh -- and it should be because the restaurant is paired with a seafood market offering everything from tuna to shellfish to prepared foods. This place has their share of regulars which is a good sign. Even if you are new, the attendants will greet you with a smile. My go to here is the swordfish sandwich -- plump, well-cooked and seasoned. Do I wish the fries were thicker and the crab cakes a little lumpier -- sure but I hardly think about that as I take in an ocean view with a glass of cold beer in hand. They do offer a number of pasta offerings -- not for me.

I've been coming to Jake's my whole life! They really know what they're doing. I got the tuna served black and blue (pretty raw but it's sushi grade). It came with a generous green salad and coleslaw. I could have ordered different sides but I was happy with those. My dad ordered the fish and chips but he got onion rings instead. It was all delicious. Thank you Jake's for being the absolute best. And the serves are always so nice. We had Robin. She even patiently listened as my dad talked her ear off!

We visited one Sunday 6p, with no wait to be seated and plenty of parking. Service was timely, attentive, and overall fantastic! Price point $18-25 for most entrees, on par with surrounding establishments. Ambiance was lovely. The overlooking harbor is stunning. Food (4/5): - clam chowder: a meal highlight, not too heavy, and oh so savory - onion rings: delicious, lightly battered, non greasy, generous in portion size - fish and chips: very fresh and exceedingly well-cooked haddock, light, slightly underseasoned but still memorable - popcorn shrimp: fresh, nicely seasoned, well-portioned, but not particularly memorable - key lime pie: also solid, nicely balanced tart and sweetness, could have used a bit more butter on the crust, but still a very nice conclusion to the meal

This is my new favorite restaurant! Truly had such a great time here with my bf. The interior is quite large and even they don't take reservations, we had no wait on a Sunday afternoon. I don't remember our server's name, but she was a fabulous and nice woman who made our lunch great! The menu was large and extensive, so we had a hard time narrowing down what we wanted. We got a variety of fried seafood and grilled swordfish. The onion ring portion was huge even though we got a half order, and they were hot and delicious! The amount of seafood we got was huge, too. My favorite was the fried scallops. We also shared the grilled swordfish, which was probably the best thing we ate. I don't really eat a lot of grilled fish, but this was so juicy and fresh. We probably wouldn't order the fried seafood again only because it was too many fried things at once, but would highly recommend the fish. Definitely want to come back to try the lobster rolls. They also have a fish market at the front, and everything looks super fresh.

Great spot, but very popular. We ate on Friday night and parking was a challenge. The food was well executed. The mussels were plump, but the broth needed more garlic. Tuna was very fresh and the fried shrimp were large.

    Crudo - tasteless. $19

To much to say just left a bad taste in my mouth! Sucks because the food is good but hostess left a bad vibe. Not happy being a hostess

Ask the Community - Jake's Seafood Restaurant

My boyfriend keeps telling me Jake's closes during the winter months. I can't find that info anywhere but he insists. Can anyone confirm their hours during the November/December months?

It is seasonal, sadly. I'd call if I were you. Henry

It's a bit confusing where the hostess is to be seated, years ago it was obvious. Friendly Hostess is lower level at the bar area. We got seated upper deck because it seemed like a mild evening. The views are gorgeous as always. Waitress came over quickly and we got our drinks. Waitress was not overly friendly, but seemed liked she had a really long day of service. Drinks were good, basic captain and coke and a Nantasket cowboy made w coconut whisky, sweet summer drink. We placed our order and it got too chilly so we asked the hostess who was nearby if we could move inside. She was very accommodating and sat us inside which had beautiful views as well. A waiter came over and asked if we had been helped and we told him we were outside but already ordered. Our food comes out shortly, smash burger and fries were very good. Clam chowder was good but different, it was more grainy than smooth with finely chopped clams and bacon w good seasoning. The lobster Rangoons were great, plenty filled w creamy filling and the outside soft yet crispy w a sweet sour dipping sauce. Our waiter never came back during our entire meal to see how we were or to be able for us to ask for water which we wanted. We got the attention of a woman cleaning tables to ask for a check. Our waiter eventually came back to ask how we were doing. Well, we ate our meal and asked someone else for the check and never got water...the service is lacking a bit, and they seemed somewhat frazzled running around. It was definitely a busy night, food is great but needs some work on the service. Casual beachy vibe, place is sadly on the run down side, inside chairs not too comfortable but go back because I love the views and the food we had was good.

Having been, now, a few times, I think the reviews are a bit understated. it is fresh, fast, kind. On Christmas Eve, (La Vigilia), many Italian families celebrate the "Feast of the Seven Fishes"…read more The custom is to serve seven different seafood dishes, each one representing one of the seven sacraments. At least that's the version of the story we've always gone by. The usual menu (since I was a tiny tot) has always included: pasta with lobster, baked stuffed shrimp, bacala (salt cod) salad, another bacala dish; this one with a marinara sauce, pan-fried smelts, clams one way or another; often casino-style, calamari, and then whatever else suits us that year to total at least seven dishes. While I didn't appreciate aspects of this meal when I was a kid (read: any bacala dish), it's now probably my favorite holiday feast bar none with any and all bacala included. While I usually get my fish at Rockyneck no matter what time of year, the day or two leading up to Christmas Eve is when we've got to buckle down. The crowd is coming. Rockyneck doesn't steer us wrong. It's actually inside the Hingham Fruit Center, a store I love and which I've reviewed separately. It consists of one large seafood counter within the larger grocery store and is its own business. I'm generally impressed with the freshness, quality and taste of the seafood they carry. The look of the fish is always pristine and I never hesitate over any of their offerings. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful and will do their best to get you the very best of what you need when you need it. Christmas Eve notwithstanding, this place is a conveniently located little gem.
