About 2:30 on a Monday afternoon and the crowd was light. Ordered a Manhattan and #21 Pilsner on their extensive beer selection. Both were delicious. Started with the clam chowder, rich, thick, not too many potatoes, bomb.. Had the scallops over risotto, preferably cooked, slight crunch but still super tender. Risotto had chunks of squash and cheese, super rich. Side of open flame grilled asparagus, also cooked nicely, still fresh & crisp. Mrs. had the scampi appetizer ,five large shrimp on toasted baguettes with dipping sauce, and those were the hit of the order. Quick polite service ,All good .

    Spanish wrap

We made it just in time for breakfast! Nice, large restaurant with friendly staff. Hubs had the Spanish wrap-- nicely done, very filling and tasty! I had the cali benedict-- very different with the sweet chili sauce and guac, ended up being a better combination than expected! I upgraded to the bacon tots-- my only complaint is that there needs to be more! Super good! We also shared the challah French toast-- nice fluffy bread! (But damn, why $2 for real maple syrup?!) Would return if ever in the area again!

Chicken wings and the Onion rings

My chicken wings were cooked to perfection!! My friend had the turkey burger but it was the onions rings that were really the hit!! Thin cut seasoned to perfection! The waitress was cheerful and quick! Love that it was right across from the water.

Hash Breakfast with eggs over easy and cinnamon toast

I was in town for a wedding and while the groomsmen got ready, the wives went for brunch and it was incredible! We were greeted by the friendliest staff and a steaming cup of coffee as soon as we were seated. We all raved about our dishes; all delicious and large portions! We loved that all the toast came from Fireking Bakery. As a huge craft beer lover, I was blown away by their offerings and looking for an excuse to go back for lunch or dinner for another amazing meal accompanied by a local craft beer!

We had a brunch reservation on Sunday and our table was ready right when we walked in the door. I appreciated the fact that they let us sit at the table while we waited for the other people in our party to arrive. The place was packed but it felt cozy and the tables didn't feel like it was on top of each other. Our waitress was good and brought our food out promptly. Some people in our group has food allergies and the waitress didn't hesitate to confirm with the kitchen if certain items had nuts or dairy. I ordered the Bostonian combo plate with came with 3 eggs, bacon, housemade bacon tots, beans and a blueberry muffin. Everything tasted great. I got a chance to try my friends home fries and they were delicious. Perfectly fried and well seasoned. Everybody else at our table enjoyed their food and even had leftovers to take home. I would come again if im in the area.

Classic diner establishment, nothing over the top. Would recommend for a lazy Sunday morning.

Turkey Burger - too charred on the outside
    John H.

Decent food, great service. We went for dinner on Saturday night, and it wasn't too busy. The ambience was that of a local diner with the booths. The fish tacos were nice. Big portions of hot crispy and well seasoned fish nestled into their tortilla blankets. I just wished they had a marinated slaw instead of the dry slaw. It came with a giant cone of fries. My wife got the turkey burger but it was a bit too charred on the outside so she had to scrape some of it off. The waitress was attentive and the food came out quick. Note they keep the AC cranked up inside so you may want to bring a jacket.

    Clam strips special

I'm a big fan of Stars, and go every week, usually for lunch. They have really good daily specials; lately they've had clam, chicken parm, and grilled turkey sandwiches. My favorite, however, is the spicy fish tacos. Really good, with delicate (not greasy) breading, and fries, with ample portions. There is also a very good rotating draft list of 24 different area breweries (well, 23 and usually a national brand such as Pabst Blue Ribbon). Great, friendly staff, nice surroundings, and the prices are reasonable. What else do you want?

Having been, now, a few times, I think the reviews are a bit understated. it is fresh, fast, kind. The drawback is that they do not have a huge selection, but I suspect that is because what they have is fresh. It also does not appear overpriced. I will go back.

At least that's the version of the story we've always gone by. The usual menu (since I was a tiny tot) has always included: pasta with lobster, baked stuffed shrimp, bacala (salt cod) salad, another bacala dish; this one with a marinara sauce, pan-fried smelts, clams one way or another; often casino-style, calamari, and then whatever else suits us that year to total at least seven dishes. While I didn't appreciate aspects of this meal when I was a kid (read: any bacala dish), it's now probably my favorite holiday feast bar none with any and all bacala included. While I usually get my fish at Rockyneck no matter what time of year, the day or two leading up to Christmas Eve is when we've got to buckle down. The crowd is coming. Rockyneck doesn't steer us wrong. It's actually inside the Hingham Fruit Center, a store I love and which I've reviewed separately. It consists of one large seafood counter within the larger grocery store and is its own business. I'm generally impressed with the freshness, quality and taste of the seafood they carry. The look of the fish is always pristine and I never hesitate over any of their offerings. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful and will do their best to get you the very best of what you need when you need it. Christmas Eve notwithstanding, this place is a conveniently located little gem.

To start, the service was awesome, the waitresses were down to earth but made sure we had everything we needed and then some- including some extra chips to bring home with our unfinished buffalo chicken dip. The place was as the name suggests...snug. But the intimate environment was all the better with the live entertainment! Nothing really beats watching a local artist playing acoustic guitar and singing "You've Got a Friend in Me" over some good eats. I ordered the Cape Cod Rueban which is your typical Rueban toppings but a golden fried filet of haddock, on a toasted brioche bun. I was honestly blown away by this sandwich. All the ingredients were so fresh. Both of us were very satisfied with the quality of the food, the huge portions, and the reasonable bill compared to other establishments in the area. For all this plus 2 drinks, we were looking at $70. If we are ever back this way, we will definitely stop in again to try some new entrees!

The lean into the neighborhood piece is for real -- I think I saw a high school date there one time. Food is pub fare. Steak tips and burgers are go-to's. Don't try to look for fancy, please don't.
