We came on a Sunday evening around 5 pm and were able to find a parking space in the lot and get seated right away. We read gluten free reviews and were pleased to see they offer a lot of gluten free options for my husband who has celiac. The place was lively. It was incredibly loud and almost echoed resulting in miscommunication across our table and even with waitress. I thought my beer tasted strange and it wasn't until we were paying that I saw a blueberry hard cider on bill instead. Even when they brought our dish my husband and I both thought waitress said salmon but she said chicken. Our dishes were great though and portions generous. One table that was louder left and we were able to hear better. Don't get me wrong we are young and love a lively atmosphere but the sound seems to echo with booming voices and makes it difficult to hear. We'd come back again though if in the area. read more

It's been ages since I've been to Stars, and I'm so glad we stopped in for lunch the other day! We ended up with a booth, by a window, which was great. The Caesar salad is delicious, with the perfect ratio of dressing to lettuce. I added salmon on top, which was good sized, and perfectly cooked, and a great addition to the salad itself. Our server was great, checked in on us multiple times, and was super friendly/kind. Will absolutely be back! read more

Service was great. We stopped because most restaurants in the area were closed on Monday. My friend had a delicious gin and tonic. Sausage and kale soup was delicious. Chowder was good, but not hot enough. We each had buttery lobster rolls with plenty of lobster. Our server was wonderful. The place was pretty crowded. read more

We've been there twice now on the weekends with our adult son who lives nearby. I usually get the Texas style french toast with bacon which is a generous portion. Place is very busy and bussling on the weekends, may be tough to get a table or short wait. Wife liked the omelette offering and my son got pancakes which were solid. Wish they kept the coffee cups filled more often rather having to ask for it, but it was busy and full. read more

Food is excellent. They do all three meals so you can't go wrong Very reasonable and always good. Service is also excellent. People are super nice. All the time. For the most part It's a bit dated especially the restrooms. Yikes. They're pretty bad. And they smell nasty for whatever reason. So try to avoid. read more

About 2:30 on a Monday afternoon and the crowd was light. Ordered a Manhattan and #21 Pilsner on their extensive beer selection. Both were delicious. Started with the clam chowder, rich, thick, not too many potatoes, bomb.. Had the scallops over risotto, preferably cooked, slight crunch but still super tender. Risotto had chunks of squash and cheese, super rich. Side of open flame grilled asparagus, also cooked nicely, still fresh & crisp. Mrs. had the scampi appetizer ,five large shrimp on toasted baguettes with dipping sauce, and those were the hit of the order. Quick polite service ,All good . read more

Love their tater tots and salads. The atmosphere is great; a fun local vibe. Do have to plan around crowds but that means it's worth it.

We made it just in time for breakfast! Nice, large restaurant with friendly staff. Hubs had the Spanish wrap-- nicely done, very filling and tasty! I had the cali benedict-- very different with the sweet chili sauce and guac, ended up being a better combination than expected! I upgraded to the bacon tots-- my only complaint is that there needs to be more! Super good! We also shared the challah French toast-- nice fluffy bread! (But damn, why $2 for real maple syrup?!) Would return if ever in the area again! read more

Lunch this time in. Well cannot find French Onion soup in 89% of restaurants ... So I went mostly for that. Big craft bowl. Did not care for the bread used, cheese ok. Overall soup not bad 2.9-3.0 ..Square Cafe down the street much better . Lobster roll , ok... Pretty "ground up", score 2.5 Fish sandwich ( Cod) 3.0 Good place to take kids , parking insane, I saw 2 cars back into others and take off. Basically parking for 11 ish ... I'd go back for a very good breakfast menu read more

I was in town for a wedding and while the groomsmen got ready, the wives went for brunch and it was incredible! We were greeted by the friendliest staff and a steaming cup of coffee as soon as we were seated. We all raved about our dishes; all delicious and large portions! We had a brunch reservation on Sunday and our table was ready right when we walked in the door. I appreciated the fact that they let us sit at the table while we waited for the other people in our party to arrive. The place was packed but it felt cozy and the tables didn't feel like it was on top of each other. Our waitress was good and brought our food out promptly. Some people in our group has food allergies and the waitress didn't hesitate to confirm with the kitchen if certain items had nuts or dairy. I ordered the Bostonian combo plate with came with 3 eggs, bacon, housemade bacon tots, beans and a blueberry muffin. Everything tasted great. I got a chance to try my friends home fries and they were delicious. Perfectly fried and well seasoned. Everybody else at our table enjoyed their food and even had leftovers to take home. I would come again if im in the area. read more

Very bad experience, walk in on Sunday around 1245 are asked do we want lunch or breakfast (which ends at 1 apparently), we say lunch. As we wait for a table they sit about 5 new parties that come in after us and ask for breakfast to get them in before 1 (mind blown). Eventually they seat us at about 12:58 (and remind us not to order food because its still breakfast, mind blow again, but do say we can order drinks (duh we could have done this initially). Ok great! we are sat its after 1. They then say they need 20 minutes to turn kitchen over for lunch and offer us chips and salsa (which never comes) eventually the food comes. Foods fine but wtf. Blind leading the blind here. read more

Decent food, great service. We went for dinner on Saturday night, and it wasn't too busy. The ambience was that of a local diner with the booths. The fish tacos were nice. Big portions of hot crispy and well seasoned fish nestled into their tortilla blankets. I just wished they had a marinated slaw instead of the dry slaw. It came with a giant cone of fries. My wife got the turkey burger but it was a bit too charred on the outside so she had to scrape some of it off. The waitress was attentive and the food came out quick. Note they keep the AC cranked up inside so you may want to bring a jacket. read more

Somebody recommended this restaurant to me so I went ahead and gave it a try. It looks like a smaller place at first glance but there is still plenty of seating. You can get breakfast, lunch or dinner here and so I came for a late lunch. We were seated right away and our waiter served us ice water and dinner rolls immediately then let us look over the menu while he went to get us the sodas that we ordered. They have appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, chicken, beef, pasta and seafood on their lunch and dinner menu. Many of the entrees sounded good but I decided to go with the steak tips. The steak tips at this place normally are served with stir fry vegetables and rice but I asked if I could swap out the side dishes for something else so the waiter let me know what other options were available. I picked the mashed potatoes and onion rings. When I received my meal everything was delicious and the steak tips were cooked exactly to my liking. The waiter that we had provided outstanding service. I will most definitely be back! read more

I'm a big fan of Stars, and go every week, usually for lunch. They have really good daily specials; lately they've had clam, chicken parm, and grilled turkey sandwiches. My favorite, however, is the spicy fish tacos. Really good, with delicate (not greasy) breading, and fries, with ample portions. There is also a very good rotating draft list of 24 different area breweries (well, 23 and usually a national brand such as Pabst Blue Ribbon). Great, friendly staff, nice surroundings, and the prices are reasonable. What else do you want? read more

The food is consistently good, with large portions. The wait staff is consistently nice and eager to please. Why then only two stars? Because the noise level is so extreme, I wouldn't be surprised if it's an actual OSHA violation. They have a raucous bar on one side, so all the young families with screaming kids sit on the other. There's nothing to dampen the noise and no place to escape it (they don't have outdoor seating). Despite the good food, I only eat there because my elderly mother likes it. Of course she does, she takes out her hearing aids! read more

Best Breakfast on the South Shore! As longtime residents of Hingham, my wife and I have made Stars on Hingham Harbor our go-to breakfast spot for many years. The food is consistently delicious, and it's reasonably priced. The Fire King bread is truly amazing! If you visit on a Sunday morning before the churches let out, you shouldn't have any trouble getting a table. We arrived at 9:30 this morning and were seated right away. As always, we left full and very happy. Whether you're a South Shore native or just visiting, you must try Stars on Hingham Harbor. It's right across the street from the beautiful Hingham Harbor and close to local shops and businesses. You won't be disappointed! read more

We had lunch at Stars in Hingham today and decided to try their salads. I had the Superfood salad and it was extraordinary. My buddy tried the Mediterranean salad and raved about it. Both we delicious and the serving size was beyond our expectations. (see the photos) Hannah was our server and was wonderful. She was attentive, polite, friendly and knew the menu thoroughly. We also appreciated that she didn't hover over us, but knew just the perfect time to see if we needed anything. The menu has a variety of choices and we only waited ten minutes for our salads. This is definitely a restaurant you should try for breakfast, lunch or dinner. When you're done, the harbor is just across the street for a good walk and beautiful views. Enjoy! read more

Stopped in at Stars on my way to the beach. I never realized they were open for breakfast so I was glad I stopped. Had a cheese omelette which was cooked perfectly and the home fries were delicious. The toast was nice and fresh, thick and warm with butter. I also added a side of crispy bacon and that also was cooked perfectly. I have gone to so many places that can't make a good omelette so I'm definitely visiting again. The waitress was awesome and everyone working was polite and friendly. I forgot to mention I ordered a hot tea and it comes in a teapot rather than just a mug, a real bonus. I really enjoy this place, thank you. read more

Have t been here in ages but went on a Friday at 6pm. The place was packed but we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Ordered the Buffalo Mac and cheese and they did a great job! YUM! This is a neat little spot. I've been here several times over the years and never had a bad meal. There's usually a wait and I can understand why... My husband and I recently had a fantastic breakfast here on a busy Saturday morning. I ordered the Country Breakfast while my husband had french toast, eggs, bacon and sausage. Everything on my plate was perfect. Three over-easy eggs were plenty (most places only give you two). Homefries were amazing - well seasoned and super crispy without being burnt/overdone. Sausage was plump and juicy. They definitely were not your average frozen sausage links that some places serve. I think the cornbread and beans may have been my favorite part! Cornbread was fluffy and flavorful. Baked beans were surprisingly "light" tasting and not over loaded with sugars, etc. I couldn't get enough of them! I also had a piece of my husband's french toast as he had three thick giant slices. It was exactly how french toast should be - soft, sweet and comforting. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. I definitely recommend checking this place out! read more
