This was our first time eating lunch at Ironwood Hingham at the South Shore Country Club The food and service were wonderful and we can't wait to go again to try more of their dishes! We started with the house-baked bread sampler that was served with honey butter and a delicious "nest" of hummus and an appetizer of honey roasted carrots on a bed of farro. We then shared the Salmon Poke Bowl that was so fresh and flavorful and a spring pasta dish of lemon cream, fresh tomatoes, arugula with lots of cheese. There were so many items on the menu we'd like to try but their baker makes such incredible bread that we ordered another plate! Cheers to chef/owner Tina Conte and her team. Also, the view from the dining room looking out at the golf course is really pretty, even on a rainy day and the decor of the restaurant is comfortable and inviting for spending a slow lunch enjoying great food. read more

I met friends here for dinner and trivia on Tuesday night, and it was a great experience. My friend made a reservation (highly recommend doing this, it was fairly busy). We were seated within a few minutes of arriving, which was nice. Our server was great - greeted us right away and went through the specials for the evening. We started with drinks - my cosmo was delicious (nice that it comes in the shaker and she poured it at the table), and bread. The corned bread was ok - it came with plenty of butter. On to the entrees - I had the chicken picatta, which was good, and came with a generous portion of linguini. My friend had the steak tips (on the specials menu) which came with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Trivia was a lot of fun - more old school style of writing answers and point wagers on paper for each round, and bringing it up to the quiz master. We will definitely be back for trivia, and dinner, again soon! read more

A group of us went for the first Cookbook Club tasting dinner inspired by Chef Barbara Lynch, who made a guest appearance, it was perfection! Beautiful presentation and everything was delicious. Unfortunately, I missed Julia Childs tasting, but I'm looking forward to the next one! The line dancing on Wednesdays is so much fun and a great workout, can't wait for the next one! Located at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Ironwood Restaurant is a casual full service restaurant and bar serving lunch, dinner and drinks. The food offerings include a selection of sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, appetizers, main entrees (steak, pasta, chicken, comfort dishes), desserts, and kids menu. The bar has 12 draft beers, bottle/can beers & seltzers, wine, and cocktails. The prices are moderate high. The dining room has a full service bar with seating & small TVs and table seating with great views of the golf course. I stopped by Ironwood for a late lunch and took a seat at the bar. The bartender brought over menus to look over and went over some specials including special flatbreads. I eventually decided on the Crispy Haddock Sandwich ($22 plus tax) with fries, which came out in about 10 minutes. This stacked sandwich had a thick hand breaded fried haddock filet with remoulade sauce, shredded lettuce & sweet pickles on a toasted brioche bun. The golden fries with skins were salted and very hot. After I finished my filling lunch, I was promptly offered "any dessert???" I chose the Sticky Toffee Pudding ($12 plus tax), which was comprised of a warm toffee cake topped with salted toffee sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This dessert was so good! The check was presented which was $36.38 with tax and before tip. Overall, a great sitdown lunch and I was able to catch most of the Celtics game on the TVs. read more

Another great meal at Ironwood!! I like to say "good beer, good food, good service"! Good beer - Vitamin Sea IPA; need I say more! Good food - I had the chicken noodle soup to start and it was outstanding! I got the chicken Ceasar wrap for a main which was probably the best I've had! My new favorite restaurant in Hingham! First and maybe most importantly to me, the food is DELICIOUS: well prepared and creative, which is hard to find down here on the South Shore (not so creative that people won't like it either - plenty of standards; my friend had chicken piccata the other night and said it was outstanding). I've been 3 times and can't wait to go back again. I dream of the carrot appetizer. Ambience is nice and you can hear your dining companions. Cocktails were also great. Finally, service has been consistently friendly and good. Last time, the chef came out to say hi, which was a nice touch and I enjoyed being able to thank her personally for a job well done. After a Round at SSCC in Hingham, I wanted to try the new Restaurant "Ironwood" it took Greenside Grille Restaurant place, and it definitely didn't disappoint, I got Onion Soup to start which was delicious and for my Main I got the Fish Tacos, so Fresh, Spicy, and Filling, overall great Experience at the new Restaurant, definitely going back again when I play again read more

Food was solid but expensive for location. Service was below average. Simple things like water and refills not attended too. Cutlery not placed when meal was delivered. Handled an innocent situation very poorly. Won't be rushing back. Not to mention they don't realize they are a restaurant at a golf course. Very obvious they don't want that business. The food is decent. The service was pretty good as well. The view is nice and there is plenty of parking. My biggest complaint, oddly, was the hostess. We came on a Saturday night, I had a reservation, the restaurant was surprisingly not crowded with tons of empty tables. Instead of seating us at a nice table with a great view (there were plenty of empty tables), she sat us at the worst table in the room. We were put near the kitchen with waitstaff rushing in and out, right next to the noisy bar area, so it was hard to have a conversation and we were also next to a banquet room where a party was going in. Had she just seated us at a vacant table next to the window over looking the golf course and away from the noise and chaos, our experience would have been a million times better. She can't size up the room and give us a great table if there is one? Do better. We likely won't be back, unfortunately. read more

I left a 1-star review a few weeks ago. Tonight my husband and I decided to give it another chance as we have a $50 gift card we won at trivia that night. Thought we'd go in for a drink and a quick bite before they closed early on a Sunday. I saw there was a different bartender, so we tried our luck. Nope. Sat down, ordered a drink. After 15 minutes -- while she made about ten other drinks -- still no service. My husband was waiving his arms at her, politely calling "excuse me" and she couldn't be bothered to look our way. She was literally a foot and a half away from us. Finally got the drinks. By that time, the place was closing in a half hour so we figured there wasn't time for dinner. We got the menu ten minutes before closing. Paid our tab and went elsewhere for dinner. So ... if anyone wants a $50 gift card ... because I don't think I will be going back there. This place used to be the best service around, but the new owners fired everyone who used to work there. And it wasn't just me this time. We ran into a friend tonight who had been waiting over 20 minutes for her drinks on the patio and she said she had to come inside and find out what happened... the food is good ... but if you don't even get a chance to order ... well, what difference does it make? read more
