My coworkers and I would wait in the rain, snow and freezing cold for one of these pizzas off the truck! You can imagine my excitement when I heard they were opening a brick & mortar location south of Boston, just a few towns over from where I live. My husband and I came in on a Friday night to check the place out... We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a mushroom & onion. While the pizza was good/decent, it was NOT the same pizza as off the truck!! Something about it tasted "off" in comparison to the truck pizza. But it was still delicious in comparison to your average pizza shop pizza. Definitely check this place out if you're a pizza connoisseur like myself ;)

This is just some hipster local trendy joint- the food sucks- I'm sure the drinks are great - they looked great. Decor is fine, service is average. People wait on line for this garbage pizza? I mean the owner should hang his head in shame - especially since there was hair in it the second time I went- I always give two shots before a review we all have off days. Pure waste of money and time. I guess the people of Massachusetts have a low standard for everything especially good pizza. Don't waste your time. Unfortunately, my experience was quite the opposite. During our visit, I witnessed the owner loudly reprimanding children and their parents for typical child behavior. Additionally, our order was not fulfilled; the steak and cheese egg rolls were unappetizing and resembled a processed paste, and the side salad was simply a mix of greens with ranch dressing, despite my request for balsamic vinaigrette. Furthermore, the owner's aggressive demeanor was alarming. He followed me outside, questioning where I worked and suggesting that I should endure the same treatment. This incident escalated to the point where he demanded $400 for wall damages that were nonexistent, as there was no visible marker on the walls -DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DRY ERASE MARKERS. or because the child wrote her name so small that even if it was permanent marker, you would never be able to see it, but they were doing something wrong and we did have a conversation with them. After they stopped crying because you screamed in their faces While I understand that children should not write on walls ( even though looks like you can and has markers on them), the response from the owner was excessive and disproportionate. I believe that a more professional approach, such as a polite reminder about the rules, would have sufficed. This experience is disappointing, especially since we had previously recommended your establishment to others and enjoyed our visits. For families seeking a positive environment, I suggest considering alternative venues, as our experience did not reflect the welcoming atmosphere promised. .

The Fermentary carries other local breweries' beer - Widowmaker, Vitamin Sea, Stellwagen, etc. They also carry all natural wines and have some snacks to munch on (the pretzel and queso are really good!). They made some nice upgrades. It seems brighter and maybe more seating. Only "negatives" we've seen are that they are very heavy on IPAs (mostly double and triples, the couple times we've been), which isn't too bad for us, because we really only drink IPAs, but if you're looking for a lager or an ale, your options might be limited. Also, they don't have cable, so if it's a local game you're trying to catch, you'll be out of luck. Notice they've had some events held there - seems like it would be a great spot for that (nice open space with fireplace and tv). This will definitely be our go-to for a laid back afternoon/early evening, quick drink or two. Definitely check it out!

The two met when they both worked at a brewery in Honolulu. Once returning to Rhode Island, the couple decided to open their own gastropub in Stephanie's hometown of Westerly. Dubbed "The Malted Barley", the business focused on craft beer paired with gourmet pretzel sandwiches. The pretzel dough is made fresh daily, and every pretzel is rolled and stuffed by hand. After much success, the Bennetts looked to franchise their business model. After signing a licensing agreement with investor Ron Koller, a second Malted Barley opened in Providence in March 2016. In March 2023, the Bennetts closed the original Malted Barley in Westerly so that they could focus on their flower farm, Echo Rock Flowers, as well as their family. The Malted Barley in Providence continues to run under the ownership of Ron Koller. I visited the original Westerly location of the Malted Barley in 2014 while I was on a craft beer bus tour. I was so impressed with their excellent craft beer selection and delicious gourmet pretzels that I decided to make the gastropub a stop on my craft beer bachelor party bus tour three years later. I was very sad when I heard that the original location closed down, but I took comfort in knowing that a second location still existed in Providence. I recently visited the Providence location for lunch while I was passing through the area. When I walked in, I immediately smelled the freshly baked pretzels. For food, I ordered the "Barley Bacon Beast Burger" (75 % beef 25 % bacon patty, pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, more bacon w/ a side of ketchup) on an Everything Pretzel. It really hit the spot. I must add that these pretzels are essentially a hybrid between traditional Bavarian pretzels and New York-style bagels: salty and crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. While looking over the beer menu, I was surprised to see that the Malted Barley now brews their own house beer in addition to guest taps. I ordered a taster flight that featured Malted Barley's "Banana Bread" (Traditional Ale) and "Monster Juice" (Hazy IPA), as well as Long Live Beerworks' "Invisible IPA" (hazy IPA) and Phantom Farms Brewing's "Coarse Woody Debris" (Saison). All of the beers were very refreshing and paired nicely with my pretzel sandwich. I still miss the original Westerly location, but it's nice to know that you can still find delicious pretzels sandwiches paired with craft beer just a little further away.

I sat at the bar and the server came by pretty quick to take my order. I ordered a grilled cheese with a bag of mango habanero chips. Anyways, I wish I was able to chill a bit and have a drink cause their tap list was on point. Check out my pic. The grilled cheese was super delicious. What a great idea to use pretzels as the vessel for all sandwiches. I told my hubby next time we're in the area, we're def stopping by for another pretzel sammy and a beer... or two.

I'm giving it 4 stars for my personal experience, though my friend would probably shoot for 3 stars. I started with a newly released juice--very ginger-forward and delicious. Have them make it with light ice. I ordered the banana pancake with granola crunch and a side of Millions Dollar Bacon. I was thoroughly delighted by my choices. That bacon is soooooooo good. My friend ordered a grilled pumpkin muffin and a side of fresh fruit, which is where the disappointment was. The fruit was mostly grapes and some strawberries that had clearly gone past their point of freshness. Our waitress, Molly, confirmed fruit is prepped each morning, but it certainly looked over ripe and slimy. Molly graciously removed the item from our bill. One other small issue is that the artificial coffee creamers sit on each table, but you have to ask for real cream. I don't drink coffee, but I know this is important to those that do! Ask for the good stuff when you order!
