Nothing special here. Not sure what I was expecting. The place itself is just an average-looking restaurant; no interesting decor or anything that stands out. My husband and I came in on a Sunday when brunch was still being served. I ordered an espresso martini and he got a bloody mary. We both felt like there was alcohol missing from our drinks. Then we ordered lunch: turkey club for me and smash burger for him. My turkey club was missing the avocado the menu stated it came with. On the flip-side, it was overloaded with mayo! And I like mayo, sometimes I even like a lot of mayo, but this was TOO MUCH even for me. But I did enjoy the fries that came with the sandwich and ate them all! My husband's smash burger did not look "smashed" at all but he said it was good and he liked it. We shared a chocolate chip cookie skillet for dessert that had a suspicious amount of whip cream on top, like it was hiding something but it tasted fine. Service was excellent. The food was good. It's a very large restaurant with a tavern/pub style.

My sister and I visited here for lunch. We were so happy we did. The restaurant is architecturally beautiful with nice big windows and a large bar. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. There were friendly hosts ready to assist when we walked through the door. We sat inside to be in the air conditioning. We started with a few cocktails from the bar. She had a nice vodka summer type cocktail with fresh fruit and herbs that looked delicious and I had a nice fruity Mai Tai that was yummy. Our waitress brought us icy cold waters with a bottle of chilled water in case we needed more. We started with the bread service because we hadn't eaten yet that day. Don't skip the bread service, they serve warm croissant rolls with a delicious honey butter. OMG, so delicious. I ordered the Nashville country fried chicken sandwich which had pickles and coleslaw with a side of fries. The chicken was cooked perfectly and so fresh! It was a good sized sandwich on a nice brioche roll and would order that again. She ordered the Caprese Salad Sandwich on sourdough bread and loved it. The fries were delicious shoestring type fry which were fantastic. We declined dessert only because we were full. Our waitress was great. My only failure with this review is I forgot her name and I failed to take pictures. We thought this place was excellent and we will be back. Thanks for a nice place! read more

Have had great service from the bartender but not so good from the manager. We know ownership (Chris - He's great) and frequent the establishment and have been told on a couple occasions that we can have a table if we can be done in an hour and 15! Doesn't quite work for 6 people and an infant. Oh well we try to support local but hard to when they make it difficult. read more

We ate at Blacksmith Tavern in Pembroke tonight and were extremely disappointed with the quality of our son's dinner, along with the way we were treated by the manager. As a treat, our son ordered the filet dish cooked medium rare. The steak came out on the well side, medium well, at best. We mentioned it to the waitress when she checked in and she said she'd get us a new filet cooked as we ordered, medium rare. The manager then came over and seemed aggravated with us and said the way the steak came out was their "medium rare". The steak was brown with a tiny hint of pink, definitely not medium rare. Fast forward to thirty minutes later and the manager dropped a new filet plate and said "here you go, hopefully you like this one, it's more on the rare side" in a condescending tone (to our 12 year old) the walked away before he could cut into it. Our son proceeds to cut into it and this is what he got (see below for a picture of our medium rare steak) Our 6 year old was even horrified and said "is that a raw piece of meat or poop!?" We were not even upset about the way the meat was cooked, but more so with the way the manager treated us. He was obviously annoyed that we mentioned the first steak was overcooked and he never came over to check in again after he rudely dropped off the raw piece of steak. We told our waitress (who was great) that he would not be eating it and asked if she could take it off the bill, which she did. For the record, our entire family orders our steak medium rare everywhere we go, and we have never sent any steak back. We went here for a birthday lunch. Their buffalo wings were crispy and seasoned perfectly! The Caesar salad had just enough dressing and a ton of Parmesan cheese. The meatballs in the sub sandwich were moist and tasty. The turkey club had a nice combination of ingredients. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The bolognese was delicious with the ricotta and shredded meat! Finally, the banana martini was absolutely delicious!! We will be back! read more

Have eaten here twice and had great experiences both times. Split an amazing cheeseburger on gluten free bun and fries with my husband. The staff was very knowledgeable about GF protocols. They have a dedicated fryer and most items can be made GF. Love the atmosphere and the staff were friendly. We've tried this place now three times. The first was not great. The second was not great either. With our visits being so far apart, and being that they are also the same owners of the Oysterman (which we love), we decided to give it another shot. Today (TUESDAY) we had a rare moment to have a date night and decided to get dinner at the bar. It took a while to be acknowledged - no big deal. We got our drinks and put in our order pretty quickly - a burger and a sandwich. We waited, and waited...and waited. The bartender said they were going to check on our food. We waited some more. Another bartender said they'd go check on our food. Finally - probably about 40 minutes later, our food arrived. No apologies - nothing. My sandwich was lukewarm and my fries were cold. People around us who got seated well after us were served, ate, and left before us. I can firmly say that I've given this restaurant enough tries. I will NOT be back. Food took to long to come out of the kitchen waited 45 minutes. when it did come out it was lousy!! I have eaten here a few times and never had a bad meal. But couldnt eat any of it. Waitress was pleasant and accomodating. when i wasnt eating she came over and asked if all was ok when i said no she went and got the manager who came over and practically bit my head off say what's wrong with it! then he turned on the waitress and berated her infront of me stating it was her fault my meal was bad?! like it was cold and glouppy (chicken marsala) and way to salty. none of which was even remotely her fault. After that i couldnt even order something else i just wanted to get out of there and i was so embarrassed for the waitress. You could hear bickering from the kitchen and the chef (atleast i think she was) storm out into the dining room. The manager is the most unprofessional person i have ever seen it took all i had not to smack him!! As i said i have been here several times and witnessed the unprofessionalism of this manager whenever a patron or waitress needs him to do something. i will not ever come back or recommend to anyone. shame as i did use to enjoy coming. read more

Went here in July 4th around 6:30. Pleasant friendly hostess and sat outside. It wasn't busy at all and there was only one other group outside. It was really nice to enjoy a quiet dinner. The buffalo wings were excellent. Cooked crispy w plenty of buffalo sauce w the perfect heat and blue cheese dressing. The flatbread special was amazing. A combination of mushroom truffle, ribeye, goat cheese arugula and balsamic drizzle. Loved it. Side Caesar was very good too w real shaved parm and fresh croutons. Our drinks were super and made well, not weak. Our waitress was very nice. We've been here a few times and it's always been a positive experience. Will definitely keep coming back. read more

I went last night for dinner with my husband and really can't complain about anything we had. Our waitress was very attentive and if we asked questions she didn't know, she got us the answer instead of guessing. She brought us a water container and already filled glasses (which is such a small thing but so nice and appreciated). I had the New York Strip and it was cooked perfectly. I didn't care for the steak sauce, but you don't need it with the butter they make for the top. My husband had a special which was a filet and shrimp, also very tasty. My only critique being that it is fairly loud in there and the parking just seems too narrow, though there are ample spaces. read more

So many mixed reviews on this place but we've driven by a few times and the exterior is so inviting we committed to a try - and we were not disappointed. We arrived around 830, seats were open at the bar and we sat and were greeted immediately and had drinks in moments. They do have a small but very impressive Scotch collection. Started with the fried chicken bao appetizer- SO GOOD. The chicken was a little spicy and a lot crunchy and it was a great combo with the soft buns. My husband got a caprese and added steak tips, I got the steak frites which come with a green salad. The fries came out little later which is why they're missing from my photo but they were Parmesan fries and they came out piping hot and very flavorful. The request for a rare steak was accommodated perfectly and we passed our compliments back to the kitchen. This seems to me a great spot for an intimate tasty meal! read more

The restaurant was clean and the staff were polite and helpful. The food was a 3 out of 5 at best. It's not a place to go if on a budget but comparable to most restaurants of its kind in the area. Very noisy and tables were closer than I would have liked. I hate getting someone's ass in my face while sitting for a mean while they enter or exit their table. Lastly, my food came a full 5 minutes after my dining companions. And we live on the coast??-aweful -I asked for horseradish (to make a cocktail sauce for fish) and when she came back she told us they were out of it. This is a new place that took over an old seafood restaurant. Walking in it has been completely transformed to an upscale dining experience. There is a small parking lot but they do offer Valet parking if you would like it. We had a large party in the group so we were able to try several items. My main meal was the Seared Salmon which comes with bok choy, jasmine rice, and BBQ Chili dates. Salmon was cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY! Everything else on the plate honestly was less than impressive. The dates had the pits in them and I didn't realize that and had I bit down harder could have hurt a tooth. Another person in the party also got the salmon and felt the same way. The drinks were really good. The appetizers we got were also delicious. Bao buns were PHENOMENOL. The chicken thigh meat they used was so good. The appetizer portions are not shareable, so keep that in mind unless you just want one bite. They are still new so there was only cinnamon or vanilla ice cream as dessert options. read more

The Blacksmith is one of our local favorite restaurants that we frequently dine at. Last Friday night my wife enjoyed the smash burger, and I am addicted to their amazing steak tips! When ordered medium rare, you can cut them with a butter knife! Their own barbecue sauce is sweet & tangy! Our waitress Julia made sure we had everything we needed on time and that we were satisfied. Side dishes are always prepared as expected. Their Fish & chips are really great too along with many other menu items that we have tried. read more

UPDATE: within a very short time of this review being posted, I received a call from the restaurant. They wanted to know exactly what was wrong with the meal and offered to refund my money. They were truly very interested in making sure I was satisfied and wanted to invite me to come into the restaurant to have a better experience. You really don't see this level of customer service anymore and I have to say that I will be going into the restaurant and trying it again. Everyone deserves a second chance. Are you kidding me?? First time ordering from this place will be my absolute LAST TIME. I Just paid $70 for 3 plain chicken sandwiches (chicken and bread) and a Caesar salad that was literally a box of lettuce, 4 pieces of grilled chicken that are three inches long and 1 tiny vial of Caesar dressing. See my picture, I'm not exaggerating. None of it was any good, especially the salad. I live close by to this restaurant and will never step foot in there again. Totally redone Charlie 2 with nice large windows, high top seating and nice long bar. Draft beer options were great with local options like Vitamin Sea and Widowmaker along with Downeast cider too. Appetizers about $10 and we tried pretzel bites, just average with kind of watery mustard sauce. Got better from there with fried chicken sandwich which was excellent except for the fries. Wife had Blacksmith salad which she loved with chicken. Great clean atmosphere and wait staff was responsive and efficient. Look forward to our next visit! read more

Not enough good things to say about the Blacksmith. We called about 30 restaurants on the south shore looking for a spot to host a celebration of life reception. The owner called back same day and was incredibly accommodating, above and beyond. He went off menu for us to honor my stepdad's favorite foods, but also offered a bunch of their appetizer staples. Everything we ate was delicious, and the service was friendly and fast. Everything also came out perfectly to temperature- which is really hard to do for such a large group. My Mom was worried about not having a final number to forecast for the restaurant, and they were just so flexible and willing to roll with us. Highlights: the chicken bao, the lobster bao, the pretzel bites, bacon wrapped scallops, caprese, meatballs....honestly, all of the food was delicious. When it came time to pay- the owner gave my mom a gift card so she can come back for dinner on a night she doesn't feel like she can cook. Really classy to consider someone who is grieving like that- the kind of people you really want to give your business to. Not exactly the occasion you want to be gathering for, but at the end of the day we felt really well taken care of. I am going to tell everyone to check out the Blacksmith, and I'm certainly going to be back for dinner. read more

First time visit. Very high level of service from the greeting to the seating. Bartender super friendly. Food was OK, not great. Buffalo Cauliflower for Ap. Wasn't served very hot. Tried the Chesapeake Chicken sandwich. Again served not too hot, Side of fries was cold. Not sure why. Despite that we enjoyed the restaurant. My wife had the breakfast tostado.
