This is a tiny little spot. Much smaller than expected nothing wrong with that but felt lucky to grab a spot at some bar seats. Got drinks and a salad with fries all was pretty good my only "complaint"/ recommendation would to have an aioli type sauce to go with the truffle fries. They were good without but would be great with the aioli. Service was pretty good if it was pretty good and have no complaints Didn't know what kind of food/ price points we were going into cause there was only one half pic of the menu on yelp and the website wasn't working and found out it's mostly sandwiches which is fine just not what we were looking for. Very impressed by this tiny spot! My husband and I ended up here after trying to go to their sister restaurant (The Oysterman) around the corner but the wait was too long. I'm glad we discovered this gem instead! We were immediately impressed by the cocktails after our first sips! I got the spicy cucumber martini and my husband got the sweet tea old fashioned. We both commented on how they tasted much better than your average cocktail. You can tell there was a lot of thought and care put into the drink menu. Then we shared a bowl of clam chowder, which was a generous portion size and a larger bowl than expected. It was pretty good; not too thin and not too thick. For my lunch entree, I ordered the fish & chips. They were fantastic! Also a generous portion size, with a lovely thick batter and delicious fries. My husband got the fried chicken sandwich and it was HUGE. I would definitely recommend checking this spot out for at least a cocktail, if nothing else! :) read more

Just in town to catch up with a friend. Stopped here for a beer. Saw a menu and ordered a blackened swordfish at the bar. My two buddies ordered the same. What a catch! Pun intended. The owner bartender said the fish was caught the day before and cut up fresh. The spices were perfect for the blackening. Asparagus and couscous a great accompaniment. A simple but cozy place. Tried for the first time today 8/13 Food was delicious and staff was excellent Leah took really good care answering all of our questions and recommended an appetizer that was delicious. Will definitely come back! We ordered drinks had chicken wings cooked crispy with extra hot sauce chicken and avocado egg roll for appetizers and there ranch sauce is amazing definitely tastes homemade. Hubby had a burger as well special sauce was delicious think gourmet Big Mac for desert was a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich enough for two. I had a group visiting the Duxbury area, and called in advance of their arrival. The General Manager helped me. When I asked if he would be able to accommodate a group order order 15 minutes before the restaurant opened, he happily said he would do it. He gave me his phone number and the name of another person at the restaurant who could help me if he was not in the building. He appeared eager to help. When I called the restaurant the day the order was needed, no one answered. Voice messages were left, requesting a call back to place an order. No one ever called back. In the end, the group I had waiting for food had to find and go to another restaurant....a huge inconvenience, and very disappointing outcome after spending so much time to plan the meal at The Anchor. In short, while the food looks original and inviting, I would not recommend trying to order any food from this restaurant as a call in order or to be delivered. read more

Why did they lose one star you may ask: whoever is setting the heat to Texas in the summertime needs their thermostat permissions revoked. They make it so you dont need to come into contact with someone else while picking up during the pandemic. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. Decent portion of pork in the sandwich. Yummy breakfast! Went on a Sunday morning and was surprised there was no wait. Good service, clean and appealing decor. I will say the hash browns were the best I've ever had by a long shot. Excellent beer selection, has a counter service vibe, but the candid, cordial staff are definitely the "sit, crack open a Cloud Candy and stay awhile" type. It was agreed my killer cod pile looked a lot more photogenic besides a heaping pile of Caesar salad, as opposed to the thin cut, nicely browned frites, so feel free to ditch the spuds on the must-get fish and chips. We decided to check this place out after a visit to Duxbury beach. Very cute inside. They did a great job with a small space. Menu isnt extensive. I mean that because their 1 page menu includes their breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Hubby ordered a beer and I ordered a delicious rum drink from their menu. Yummy! We were not hungry but felt we should try something so we got the buffalo bites. They were good. They are adding a deck this summer which that and the rum drink will be nice! Next we are going to try Oysterman. I'm pretty sure they are same owners but Oystermans menu looks more of what I look for. read more

Even in COVID times the service was spot on They had one of my favorite beers Allagash White. The Anchor gets the 5th star because of the way they handled the social distancing. Pretty good. Seems like it was more casual and now it serves a normal range of food. We got 3 beers, a salad, an entree and app for $70. Our waitress was very nice. We had frickles to start- homemade and piping hot. The Cajun chicken salad was great- I wanted steak tips but they were out of stock. My husband got the swordfish over rice pilaf. I had a very refreshing beer, later in the day my mother-in-law offered me an alcoholic beverage at dinner by saying "you don't want another beer do you because that's probably not a good idea." Hidden gem on the way to the Winsor House in Duxbury. Stopped in for a late lunch on the way back from an appointment. Cool set up with a full bar and some small tables. Menu isn't big, but they have a variety of higher end pub fare. I tried the fried chicken sandwich with house made chips. Very good, though I felt it was missing maybe a sweet/spicy sauce or mayo. For an appetizer, we tried the chicken avocado egg rolls. Definitely left me wanting another order. For drinks they have a full cocktail menu and local beers on tap and in bottles. I tried the house made margarita. Description said they make their own sour mix and you can tell; it was fresh rather than that bottled, chemically tasting sour mix you find at your local liquor store. Great new spot! We had a wonderful lunch here today. The food was very good. I had a spinach salad with a spattering of quinoa, thinly sliced apples, cut purple grapes, it tasted fresh and healthy. My little one had a grilled cheese with carrot sticks, there was also the option of fruit--love these healthy options! The service was friendly and welcoming. We ordered a lot everything finger/bowl licking good, we got the chicken avocado egg rolls, clam chowder which was the soup of the day, high hook and the coach. The egg rolls were plump and delicious. The clam chowder was delicious, no skimping on the clams. The only complaint might be that the sandwiches were so flavorful that I couldn't taste the fish in the hook and the fish was falling apart, which wasn't even that bad. They were able to make mocktails for us, which were so tasty, not watered down. Incoming ! I realized the menu was updated and spotted "The Dragon" ( sausage , pepper , and onion" . One of the best sandwiches I've had! This place never disappoints. My family friends and I found ourselves in Duxbury for the day and decided to stop to get a bite to eat. We initially stopped into the Oysterman to get a table and we were "greeted" by a host who notified us that there would be a wait because "yes *eye roll* we've been this busy all day", took our phone number, and honestly acted really bothered. We never received a call about our table at the Oysterman, so we decided to walk around the corner to the Anchor and we were elated at the service we received! Cheerful staff greeted us when we walked in, very helpful, made great recommendations, and the food was incredible. Overall, amazing experience and would highly recommend.
