Great atmosphere and delicious food! It's as if a I walked into a small town business where everyone knew each other. The bartender knew all the local customers coming in, there was a woman in the back hand shaping burger patties. At one point, one of the waitress brought in 3 big bags of tortillas. You can tell this establishment is a small, local business. The food was SO GOOD too. Honestly some of the best nachos I have ever had. They hand fry their own tortillas which meant the chips didn't get soggy. The clam chowder and mac n cheese tasted gourmet. And my partner said it was one of the best burgers he's ever had. "The Best" burger on Cape Ann hands down. All the burgers are 1/2 pound of angus beef and served on various rolls from local Vigillios bakery. I really like the Barnyard Burger with bacon, pulled pork, cheese & fried egg. The French fries regular or sweet potato are great too. What an awesome gem I happened to be staying right down the street from. I went to Boston to visit family and to get out of Texas for a bit to enjoy some vacation time. It was a last-minute trip and found this little town an hour away from Boston. This place was walking distance right down main street from my airbnb. This place felt pretty welcoming and had a great list of different items on their menu. I was disappointed to find they didn't have their lobster roll anymore, but ended up going with their BLT and fries accompanied with a nice cold beer. Great first night getting settled in. We got the Grilled Meatloaf Sandwich and a pub burger. Both were delicious! The burger was cooked as ordered. All of the staff were very friendly. They're also open until 12am, which is great for those getting into the area late. The place is on the smaller side, but everything is spaced out well so you don't feel like you're in the way. My husband and I just returned home from eating dinner at this establishment. What a cozy pub and I love the array of games. There was a dad and young son playing checkers. They also had Backgammon which we love to play but we were eating dinner at the bar. My husband had a cheeseburger and I had their special sandwich of the day which was corned beef on a pumpernickel roll with sweet potato fries and a horseradish/mayo dipping sauce. Both were plentiful and tasty. We started our eating adventure with two tequila cosmos and their appetizer special, garlic and parmesan wings. Excellent! My wife and I really like to eat at the places where the local folks eat. We found Stone's Pub and we were really glad we did! As we were waiting for the pub to open a local fellow told us that they have great burgers...and he was right! I got Eric's Back Bay Burger which comes with a fried egg on top and it was so good! We waited for our food for over an hour. Unfortunately I think they're very understaffed. Food was very mid and disappointing. Waitress was trying her best and was kind, but still not very attentive. No refills of water or anything. I assume this is also because she had to take care of more tables than she could handle. They messed up my food and put a completely different ingredient on my sandwich than I asked for. As someone with food allergies, this is not great! (I found out when I bit into it). I've been to pubs before and know they can be loud but my experience at this restaurant was the worse I've ever experienced. There was a woman at the next table who was fouled mouthed and frequently laughed very loudly and was even screeching and screaming. We told the waitress and she did nothing. I love this place as I do come every weekend and 1 day during the week .been coming here for yrs ,never a bad meal.the staff is great and atmosphere is nice no loud noise or people yelling in back or extremely loud music ,you actually can have a conversation with people grab a few drinks and chill spot .they do have a back room with is out of they way and nice to hang out. There burgers ,or Cajon grilled chicken with Cajon fries and order of pub sauce is delicious also Sriracha or buffalo mac n cheese is great and my favorite i do a bbq Sriracha wings,or there steak tips that are so good marinated perfectly and cooked with a nice char and wonderful taste and tender with a side of a spinach side salad that goes perfect together. There drinks are delicious by experienced bartenders ,espresso martini ,pickle back shots are great with a nice selection of drinks to choose from. Ordered the meatloaf sandwich. Disappointed. The pressed bun could have been prepped better. (Brush with garlic Mayo and then press.) The meatloaf had been neglected on the grill. Like 4th degree burn neglected. Seems the sweet potato fries did not escape extra time in the pit of oil, only to emerge crunchy and hollow. Portobello sandwich was cooked perfectly. Recommended if you like shrooms man. Sweet potato fries on this plate were perfectly done. This place would smash it with a bit more attention to the pub food and some wait staff help. We traveled to Gloucester for dinner during our trip to Rockport because, in my opinion, trying to find a decent place to eat with at least one vegetarian option and no wait in Rockport is like pulling teeth. This place had a welcoming outdoor section as we drove around investigating our options, and had ample parking on the street that evening which sealed the deal. Unfortunately there was no seating available outside as we entered the restaurant but there were plenty of open tables inside. The menu is typical pub food which includes starters like nachos and wings, burgers, comfort foods, and sandwiches. They sold me with the "local legend" in the description of their "Not Gary's 5 Cheese Dip" which is probably bullshit but I'm gullible lmao. The dip was pretty good! It was creamy with a kick when your chip snagged some of the hot sauce swirled on top. The chips seemed to be homemade and were super crispy. We both ordered the veggie burger, and I appreciated a vegetarian option which seems to be slim pickings in the area. I enjoyed it but it was nothing special or that I couldn't have made myself at home. Their fries lacked the dreaded sog and were salted perfectly. The host/waitress had a bit of an attitude I didn't appreciate. I watched other patrons come in after us and they were ignored in a you-wait-for-me-to-be-ready-to-serve-you kind of way. The pulled pork sandwiches are absolutely amazing along with their hamburgers, and nachos (these are the only three meals I have tried, but I have heard the whole menu is amazing) The staff is so friendly they're not the type of staff to ask you questions while you're putting food in your mouth (biggest pet peeve) . On our way to Rockport and stopped here for a late lunch bite. Randy was wonderful. Gave us tourist tips of the city. The cup of beef and bean loaded chili was very tasty and came with a baby mini loaf of cornbread. Split a 1/2 pound Pub burger, perfectly cooked, on the most delicious soft bun. We just had an amazing dinner. We just arrived in town and asked the front desk at our hotel if anything was open for dinner. It was a little late and we know small towns can shut down early. She recommended Stones and it was fabulous. Red Sox on tv. Server was great. Locals giving us recommendations. The menu (despite some fun names) is also fairly pedestrian. Our waitress was lovely. Noise level was a bit loud. The popcorn was stale (bummer). For meals, we went with a portobello mushroom burger. Just okay. The sweet potato fries weren't that great. I ordered a grilled cheese - havarti with tomatoes and pickles. So bland. It was disappointing. I also ordered the soup of the day - vegetable. Again, not great. My dining companion ended up eating it. My mother ordered a hot dog. She didn't like it. It wasn't a standard hot dog. She felt her salad was mostly lettuce.
