Driving back from a sojourn from Ipswich, Mass to Ikea and back we stopped here on our way home…read morestarving and thirsty and we were so happy we did! The interior is warm and welcoming with wood accents. Seated in a booth in the bar area we settled in and ordered some drinks. I got my usual tequila soda, my husband wanted a chocolate martini, and my sister in law decided on a French martini, something that my husband likes to get and she decided to try. The drinks were very good! The entrees we chose were the baby back ribs, a "classic burger", and the chicken Marsala. Everything we tried was delicious! The ribs were a very large portion and cooked to fall-off-the-bone perfection. My burger was very tasty and came with the biggest onion rings ever. So good! The chicken Marsala was as good as any ever eaten in any "Little Italy" . The server was very prompt and efficient. As a matter of fact, the staff all seemed to be relaxed and were working like a well oiled machine. We had a great experience and hope to return there whenever we are back in the Boston area.

Even the owner, Rich, ran food from the kitchen to a patron also sitting at the bar. Sally made me an awesome espresso martini. We began with their lamb lollipop appetizer; I had their fried calamari as my entrée; and Michael had their pork chop marsala special. Everything was plentiful and reasonably priced. After we ate, I indulged in a tequila cosmo that Marissa made for me because Sally was busy with another customer. That's what I mean-everyone just helped each other out without complaining, and as we were leaving, Rich thanked us and said, "Hope to see you again." Honestly, I wish more restaurants were like this. Clean, cozy, and courteous, serving an array of tasty dishes at a fair price. Michael said, "You get a good bang for your buck, here!"

The menu doesn't look particularly amazing, standard-ish pub fare (steak tips, fish&chips, mac&cheese) but they do them EXTREMELY well. The tips were tender and flavorful, the sneaky star of the entree was the salad with feta though. I'm pretty sure the feta was marinated in whatever outstanding salad dressing they use. The havarti grilled cheese with avocado, garlic aioli and fried egg...C'mon. You have to spend the extra $2 for the bacon jam, you will not regret it. I'm sure we've all seen truffle fries right? Some bullshit frozen garbage either drowned in cheap truffle oil, or "dusted" with truffle salt. Well, they don't do that crap here, however they do garlic fries. Hand cut, with whole cloves of roasted garlic all over. Not one or two cloves, like several heads worth of glorious, slow-roasted garlic. I managed to scrounge a couple spoonfuls of the kids mac&cheese from my son, almost lost a finger in the attempt and I found out why. They put just as much effort into the kids food as the adults. If you need a break from your witchy business in Salem, definitely stop in here.

It a small restaurant/bar but everything was beyond delicious and the service was excellent! We came here twice during our weekend stay. I swear I had one of the best cups of New England Clam Chowder I have ever had here, it was perfect. My husband also isn't a hummus fan but devoured our hummus appetizer- and I agree as the one who is actually a fan of hummus it was absolutely delicious. We also had a chance to try their burgers and WOW, every bite we took left us just wanting more and their fries were also amazing as well. Great cocktail menu and beer list, this place should absolutely be on your must try list when visiting Salem!

Whether you're out with friends or family, it's the kind of place where you can kick back, indulge, and enjoy some solid comfort food in a no-frills setting. The Must-Have Dishes Kitchen Sink Nacho Tray ($17.95) - An absolute steal! This massive tray of nachos is loaded with grilled chicken, chili, tomatoes, onions, black olives, and jalapeños, served with salsa and sour cream. Easily feeds four people and is hands-down worth coming back for. 9/10 Buffalo Chicken Sandwich ($14.95) - Crispy buffalo chicken with just the right amount of heat, paired with cool bleu cheese. If you're hunting for a great Buffalo chicken sandwich near Medford or Boston (seriously, where are the good ones?), this is a solid contender. 9/10 Smokehouse Burger ($14.95) - Stacked with BBQ sauce, bacon, an onion ring, and pepper jack cheese, it was a good burger, but honestly, the onion rings stole the show. Cooked perfectly crisp-- which so many places mess up! 7/10 Hit or Miss Steak & Cheese Egg Rolls ($14.95) - Filled with shaved steak and served with buffalo ranch for dipping, these had great flavor but were just way too greasy. 6/10 Pizza - Undercooked, but decent for the price. Giant Espresso Martinis - If you're a fan of espresso martinis, they go big here--definitely worth trying. Final Verdict If you want a true Boston dive bar experience, this is it.
