My new favorite restaurant. Classic New England spot for relaxed dining in cozy atmosphere. If only there were a fireplace. Food is delicious, with generous portions and decent price. You can sit at the bar or in a booth or table. Could be a wait when they're busy but it's worth it.

Look, I don't care if you're vegan or a light eater or you live on the North Shore, anybody who reads this review needs to come to Weathervane for their prime rib dinner special on Thursdays. The cut is ridiculous (see pics) and the sides are tremendous and it's just so much food. SO MUCH FOOD. Sure, if it were just quantity, they'd have a following, but it's rare, lean yet tender and exquisitely seasoned. And if you're still on the fence about eating indoors (we are), Weathervane has a screened in covered and heated patio for COVID-conscious diners. A rarity on the south shore. You know how old people rave about prime rib? Like, they show up at 4p for dinner because of the limited prime rib inventory, which then sets them on a path of eating early until their final meal? I'm old now. Weathervane made it happen.

My first time but felt loved like a local right away. Mary the bartender (who claims she's not the bartender!) was awesome and friendly and I could tell she loves her job (but remember she's NOT the bartender lol) Oliver welcomed me and was friendly and cool (you can just tell) and had the dining room running like a well oiled machine. Even spoke to the manager a bit; another friendly face. We'll be back!

Quaint pub with a few spots at the bar, and several dining tables tucked to the left of this area.

We ordered a few things to split and went off of what we saw at other tables. So many people had the pizzas so we had to give it a go. The French onion soup was fantastic and rich. The Ceaser salad was good, and not too intense but it was garlicky and had homemade hand ripped croutons. We were starving so we ordered the Brussels sprouts on a whim and it was incredible! The umami flavor and sou sauce ginger aioli with the pickled onions was so unexpected we almost ordered one to go. Lastly was the pizza, the dough is great and sadly we didn't get to try their red sauce but the pizza was excellent. They have a huge beer selection and we loved seeing their on tap selection. Definitely recommend getting a reservation since they never had empty tables but there wasn't a line out the door. There are two sides to the restaurant and the bar is big and well staffed. We waited about 15 minutes to get water or see any one at our table but that's because we came at 6:30 pm on a Saturday and they were absolutely busy. Once we saw our waitress and got our order in it was quick and smooth sailing. Highly recommend grabbing a seat at the high tops and enjoying your time.

I opted for the Steak Frites and he got the Pork Saltimbocca, our son (5) had the chicken quesadilla. We were all really happy with our choices. The steak was cooked perfect (I get medium) it was a nice pink and the flavor packed in each bite was so good. My husband couldn't stop praising the pork and even said "it's the best I think I have ever had"...of course I didn't take offense. My son and I also loved the fries served with our meals, they are like steak fries but way better. For drinks my husband got his usual martini (and he loves places that make it right...no vermouth!) and I had a black and tan (but with the Cider Donut cider beer from Boston's own Downeast Cider)...nicknamed the Snakebite or Black Velvet. The location off Bay Road was adjacent to the train station, so this will be a great meet-up location on my late voyages home when we are too tired to cook. It's got a great bar (which we visited in the past) and was comfortable with the glow of a cool fireplace in the dining room. We parked on the side street but there seems to be ample parking all around. This dinner definitely did not disappoint, and we will be back!

"It's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality" - i picked it because of this quote on the menu, and i forgot how much i used to love p!atd. i thought to myself, "i've heard this before somewhere..." i loved the bread & roasted garlic butter, however on a little cutting board it was difficult not to make a mess. i guess that's part of what makes it "kitchen table." it is the perfect, round sourdough loaf with the most delicious butter. the roasted chicken was prepared flawlessly. juicy and tender inside, and a perfect crispy skin, just wow. i absolutely loved the selection of spring vegetables, along with the sherry sauce; sautéed spinach, carrots, mushrooms, and onions. the mashed potatoes were perfect once i added extra salt, extra pepper & whipped it up with more of that garlic butter to my liking, however it was prepared great. i requested it without bacon butter, how it typically comes prepared, and the garlic butter is a great substitute. everything was impeccable. i travel to boston often just for food, because i find that the food in beverly, as a whole, is just not up to par, even with all of the marketing. kitchen table is different than any other restaurant in beverly, and now i don't have to travel so far to get the most delicious meals! i am honestly blown away by how amazing my meal was, and i highly recommend kitchen table to anyone in the north shore, and i'd even say it's completely worth going out of your way for. whether solo, a romantic or friend date, or with a small or large group, kitchen table is here to serve (one of the best meals you've had in a long time). there were some other ladies at the bar that were extremely hospitable and helpful as well, i didn't catch their names this time. i wanted to take some pictures at the end of my meal, at closing time when it had emptied out, and molly encouraged me to take all the pictures i needed. just fantastic service by all of the staff. i couldn't be happier with my first experience at kitchen table. here's to many more! ambiance: 4.9/5 food: 5/5 drinks: 5/5 service: 5/5 kitchen table: 5/5

We sat at the bar both times and it just wasn't up to par compared to the Choate before new ownership took over. The service was great but... The baked haddock did not have the same delicious crumbs and the portion was too huge to finish and we know seafood doesn't really make for good leftovers. The fried haddock was done a little too much; the coating was too dark and again so much of it! The salads have grown to twice their size but served in the same tiny dish; much of our salad ended up in our laps and on the floor... The broccoli and squash were just okay but again the portions are HUGE! A bit disappointing really...we both would have preferred less, more delicious food of yore rather than the enormous portions of sub-par flavors. A lot of food doesn't necessarily mean delicious... Both visits left us feeling a little sad and nostalgic for the way the Choate used to be.

You can tell the regulars get priority attention from the bartenders, but we eventually got taken care of too - just be prepared to be patient if it's busy and you're a new face. The food was good with very generous portions that definitely give you your money's worth. Drinks were well-made and hit the spot. We loved the setup for watching football - great views of the games from multiple angles around the bar. **Important heads-up: This is a CASH ONLY establishment.** Make sure you stop at an ATM before you arrive, or you'll be making a quick exit to find one. The vibe here is very much old-school local pub - if that's your scene, you'll love it. If you're looking for something more polished or trendy, this might not be your spot. We enjoyed the unpretentious atmosphere and will likely be back, but it's definitely worth knowing what you're walking into first. Bottom line: Come for honest pub fare, generous portions, cold drinks, and a genuine local experience. Just bring cash!
