Everything about this place is fantastic. They were very busy when we arrived and while the bar was backed up, it was worth the wait. We ordered a few things to split and went off of what we saw at other tables. So many people had the pizzas so we had to give it a go. The French onion soup was fantastic and rich. The Ceaser salad was good, and not too intense but it was garlicky and had homemade hand ripped croutons. We were starving so we ordered the Brussels sprouts on a whim and it was incredible! The umami flavor and sou sauce ginger aioli with the pickled onions was so unexpected we almost ordered one to go. Lastly was the pizza, the dough is great and sadly we didn't get to try their red sauce but the pizza was excellent. They have a huge beer selection and we loved seeing their on tap selection. Definitely recommend getting a reservation since they never had empty tables but there wasn't a line out the door. There are two sides to the restaurant and the bar is big and well staffed. We waited about 15 minutes to get water or see any one at our table but that's because we came at 6:30 pm on a Saturday and they were absolutely busy. 5 stars for the beer. Huge list and served cold. The food is horrendous. My party had frickin chickens and petit filets, both were barely edible. That is NOT filet. It came to me and I thought, wow, that's not petit. Then I saw its shape and realized it's not a filet. It was like leather. The last time I was at Post I said the beer was worth ensuring the food, but I've decided it really isn't. $42 for a filet isn't bad, but that wasn't a filet. read more

We have been here before but only for a cocktail and snack. This was our first dinner. I'm super happy to have a new place to add to the rotation. Our meals were delicious. I opted for the Steak Frites and he got the Pork Saltimbocca, our son (5) had the chicken quesadilla. We were all really happy with our choices. The steak was cooked perfect (I get medium) it was a nice pink and the flavor packed in each bite was so good. My husband couldn't stop praising the pork and even said "it's the best I think I have ever had"...of course I didn't take offense. My son and I also loved the fries served with our meals, they are like steak fries but way better. For drinks my husband got his usual martini (and he loves places that make it right...no vermouth!) and I had a black and tan (but with the Cider Donut cider beer from Boston's own Downeast Cider)...nicknamed the Snakebite or Black Velvet. The location off Bay Road was adjacent to the train station, so this will be a great meet-up location on my late voyages home when we are too tired to cook. It's got a great bar (which we visited in the past) and was comfortable with the glow of a cool fireplace in the dining room. We parked on the side street but there seems to be ample parking all around. This dinner definitely did not disappoint, and we will be back! read more

Food was pretty good. Service was not. Waited and waited and waited. Finally had to ask a busboy to send us a waitress for a refill on our drinks. And the food took forever. But then the bill came. Charge for refills on iced Tea and sodas. Add 3% for "kitchen staff". Please, pay your people a decent wage and don't nickel and dime your customers. Really nice bartender that is usually there when I stop in... The pizza is really good. I asked the bartender if it was a thick crust or a thin she assured me it was on the thinner side, which it was. I prefer a flatbread ‍delicious toppings cooked a perfect perfection really like it. Came here for a birthday dinner. The ambiance is cozy and great. Customer service was phenomenal, our waitress was funny. There's street parking and after a specific time, you can park in the lot behind the building. Drinks were great. We ordered the following - Apps: Nachos (cheesy and crispy chips), Garlic Parm Tenders (yummm, wished we ordered more or ordered another flavor), and Sweet Chili Calamari (everyone enjoyed) Entree: Meals were good. Though those that had mashed potatoes as a side, wished there's a bit more seasoning to it. I had the pizza, the toppings was perfect though wasn't a fan of the crust. Personally it was a bit thin and felt like it was grainy. Dessert: brownie fudge sundae which was delish :) Overall I recommend due to service and the highlight were the apps. I tried the Post for the first time yesterday. The atmosphere was very nice, the service was excellent, and the food had the potential to be excellent, however I found the food to be overdone with creativity in the extreme. For example, I ordered the mushroom pizza. I didn't see a single mushroom on it and it was overloaded with bad tasting sun-dried tomatoes and a mixture of very salty cheeses. The French onion soup didn't taste like French onion soup at all and it too just wasn't very good. So, in short, this could be a great place but the food is just plain poor as it currently stands. This was our second visit to the Post. We stumbled across it late one night in our way back from shopping. We remembered it and purposely looked it up to return. We had fish and chips. The fish was great.The fries are more like homemade potato chips, which is a change from two years ago. If you like traditional Cole slaw, be warned that the Napa Cole Slaw is very spicy. read more

This is a great restaurant! I'm not really a french fry eater, but I have to say that they have the best french fries. I go to this restaurant quite a bit. Tonight I went there with my daughter and grandkids. The children's meals were enormous and delicious! I tasted a bite of my grandson's chicken fingers and I have to tell you, it was to die for! I got the salmon tonight, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. My daughter, also, loved her meal as well. Everything was delicious from the appetizers right down to our drinks. I use to always go to this restaurant when it was the Black Cow! I was sad when it closed, but The Post does not disappoint. This will also be my go to restaurant when I take my grandchildren out to dinner now that I know how much they loved their meal! It definitely is a must try read more

Stumbled onto this spot and the food was just ok. They miss the little details, that makes a place like this REALLY good. Like.....Wings were small- not really spicy. Pizza slices Cannot be picked up - have to use silverware. That's a red flag to me. The smash burger was solid - but not a lot of flavor. We sat at the bar and arrived at 840 and were politely told to get our orders in before 9, which I appreciated. The bartender then disappeared. I had to ask for things multiple times. I finally went to the host stand to get a check - then saw my bartender eating in the kitchen. Look, stuff happens , I get it, but the service really was below average and the food didn't make up for it. Dinner for two was $75 before tip, so basic service is appreciated at that price. I don't feel like that happened. All that said, I will try it again and avoid the pizza. Give this place a try and will rewrite this review when I come back in. read more

Great service , but the food is not as good as before (visited this place a few years back and I think they changed hands). Great selection of beers. But my burger is well done when asking for medium. Goat cheese is given generously and it is too salty to enjoy. My husband's pizza is so salty that he can only eat one piece; the pieces brought home are still not easy to digest. As frugal as we are, I think I am throwing them to trash tonight. . Decided to try out the newest Hamilton spot as we loved the Black Cow it's predecessor. On appearances nothing has changed but we didn't mind as The Black Cow had a great ambiance. The large fireplace is warm and inviting and there's plenty of people watching as the large windows open up to downtown Hamilton. Our waitress was lovely - friendly and very attentive. I ordered the fig and prosciutto flatbread she recommended and it did not disappoint. Particularly loved the addition of the pine nuts to the traditional combination. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich which was small but tasty. Overall a good option in downtown Hamilton that we look forward to exploring more! read more

I can't say enough about this restaurant. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. The chef is amazing and always changing up the menu with specials or seasonal food. Our experience at Post was very good! On street parking was perfect and we were only a few steps from the entrance. We were seated on a table by the door, which we found was too busy, so we asked to be moved to a different section further away. Not too many diners when we arrived at 5:30 for our reservation although the bar was crowded, but the place filled up by the time we left. We started with cocktails my wife a pear cosmo, and I opted for a draft IPA. We split a large Caesar salad, and the drinks and salad were very tasty. My wife opted for the braised Apple chicken thighs, which she also enjoyed the next night for dinner, so plentiful. I got the steak tips, medium rare, and they must say they were among the very best that I have ever tasted. The everything mashed potatoes that came with it were delicious as well and both plates were beautifully, garnished and looked so appealing when served. I'm sorry. I truly want to love this place like I loved The Black Cow but the menu is supremely kinky and the meals have been less than stellar. Last visit I got a veggie stir fry that was missing the sauce so the dish was comp'ed. This time I ordered the same in hopes of better plus I added chicken - I got sauce with too much vinegar and 3 half breasts that were very overcooked and under seasoned. My husband couldn't find anything on the menu he wanted so he got a buffalo chicken pizza that he had to add pepper to for flavor. He told me the coffee was un-drinkable. My daughter and I have been coming to the Black Cow for years after our annual outing to see A Christmas Carol. We were so disappointed that the Black Cow was gone but decided to give the Post a try. We were sorry that we didn't try somewhere else. First we waited for 15 minutes before a server even came to our table. She wasn't our waitress but she saw we were looking a little upset. She took our drink order for us and the waitress assigned to our table took our appetizer order. She brought the appetizer was actually pretty good. She took our dinner order and we ordered a bottle of wine as well. The food came, I can't remember if she delivered it or if the runner brought it but she was no where to be found after that. We never got our wine. We had finished our pre dinner cocktails and had nothing to drink, no water, no wine. The table next to us was a large party and she was at there beck and call but never once turned to check on us. I got the steak tips, they were chewy and underdone. The potatoes were pasty and the asparagus was undercooked. I couldn't eat more than a few bites of any of it. Pushed my plate to the side and waited. My daughters meal was the sirloin. She was not impressed with her meal either. When the waitress finally realized we were still there she was surprised that no one brought our bottle of wine. Wasn't that her job? She offered us a free dessert but we were done after watching her fawn all over the big party- drinks, dinner, dessert and coffee we just asked for our check. I do want to say that the other server was busting her butt running all over the place. As far as I could tell she had the rest of the place while our server only has us and the large table. Just visited The Post In Hamilton, MA. Awful experience. Sat at the bar. My husband got his dinner (after 45+ min) but my order never went through to the kitchen. The three people next to us at the bar, who ordered their dinner BEFORE us, never got their food. Their food order was also lost. They left without eating. Four seats down from them, a guy was getting frustrated because his pasta dish was taking too long. Maybe you shouldn't offer take-out if you can't get dinner out to your seated guests? Maybe the owner shouldn't stop in during Saturday dinner rush and ask for four pizzas to go when his kitchen is already overwhelmed? Don't bother with this place. read more

We asked the server if it was possible to order the previous dish, hardly expecting her to say yes. First time at the former Black Cow, now called Post. Apparently because it is in the town's old PO building. I had a burger, which was average to subpar. (Serving shredded lettuce on a $16 burger is a definite no-no, IMO.) Fries were average which, in a part of the state where fries are often great, means not so good. My companion's nachos were also not so good. Too much cheese turned the serving into a gelatinous mass. Too many spices/ingredients. Less = more, in this case. The ambience is abandoned warehouse, but not in a chic/retro way. Some wall art would add a little character. (Maybe blown-up photos from the historic PO era?) On the plus side, our server was energetic and attentive, even with an overload of many tables to take care of by herself. Also, these are early days and improvement is always hoped for. This is a great central location and it would be a shame for it not to succeed. read more
