Between Salem, Peabody, Danvers, and Beverly, there are dozens and dozens pizza places in the area…read more This doesn't even include the rest of the North Shore. One night, while wanting to try a local pizza place but not have to drive too far and not have to fight the difficult parking in downtown Salem, I discovered Tesoro Cucina in Beverly on Bridge Street. What immediately stood out when viewing their menu is their eclectic selection of specialty pizzas. Any pizza joint can have a meat lovers, Greek, and veggie, but Tesoro Cucina comes up with some interesting combinations. Case and point: The "Dill"icious Duo - with their signature "ranchfredo" sauce, whole milk mozzarella, super sour pickles, and North Country bacon. The alfredo and ranch white sauce was so savory, the pickles were indeed super sour, and there was an absurd amount of bacon. Most pizzas that include bacon throw on a few pieces of basic bacon bits but this was real, crispy, big pieces of bacon. I have had plenty of pickle pizzas and this was hands-down the best I've had by far. I've also tried the Old School Gabagool (mozzarella, crushed San Marzano tomatoes, hot imported capicola, cherry pepper relish and sweet onions) and The Big Malaka (fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, feta, garlic, olives, spinach, peppers, onions, oregano, olive oil drizzle), both of which were also great. The restaurant sits in its own little strip mall, making parking extremely easy, and the staff inside have always been welcoming and friendly. Every time I think to try a new pizza place in the North Shore area, I ultimately go back to Tesoro Cucina because you cannot go wrong.

You can see the manufacturing facility through a large windoe right behind the display case. Their red pepper scamorza is my new favorite cheese on the planet. I have to buy twice as much as I want because I eat half on my way home. I have a similar problem with the ricotta. Before it makes it to the mannicotti or lasagna it was intended for it will be devoured with crackers. Nevermind the fantastic caprese salads during the summer with the mozzarella. Even the crackers they sell are imported from Italy and are top notch.

Here Luca, Christina, and Hakim create artisanal cheeses that embody Carlo Petrini's Slow Food movement: food should be good, clean, and fair. There is an exuberance to their art. They know that their cheese-making improves the cows and environment, that their cheese protects and deepens the "cultura del formaggio", and that their products WILL amaze you by their deliciousness! I highly recommend the cheese-making classes as well. I'd pay just to hear Luca's commentary on life, much less to learn how to make cheese from him! Even after studying food in Italy, I've never come across anyone so passionate about dairy. You'll love the teaching on how cheese is made, the process of making it yourself, the wine, bread, and cheese provided to the students, and the block you get to take home. If you live in New England, come visit Wolf Meadow Farm!

It was very busy and understaffed. No bartender and only two servers on a Saturday night. Ok, so I figured we needed to be understanding. We waited a long time between courses but we were still patient. Then we asked about dessert. The server told us what they had and then ran off (literally) and did not come back to us for 30 minutes. Proceeded to seat and take orders for a table of 8. Finally she made eye contact and asked if we wanted anything. We said yes dessert 30 minutes ago. She just shrugged and said "Oh well". Really? No apology or anything. Just oh well. She was rude!!! We will never ever return there again. I think she was the owner. We did not mind waiting but when it was 30 minutes and she did not apologize that was it. She then was rude when she brought the dessert and then the check came with attitude too. Other tables were sayin goodbye to her and see you soon. I guess you have to be a regular to be treated well there. She was horrible. Who cares about the food when someone treats you like that!!!

I think it's because I used to go to Alma in the same plaza and happened to notice it one day. I was completely blown away from start to finish. He took my call asked if I've ever been there, and I said no it was my first time. He was so excited and delivered the food himself with a dessert thrown in for us to try. I wish food didn't have calories and I would be ordering from there every day if you're debating whether to try this place, run do not walk. This place should have a line around the corner.
