Had a great experience here recently. The service was a stand out. I don't remember our waitress' name but she was awesome. Enjoyed the food as well. Great variety in the menu - made it easy for everyone in the family to find something they liked. The space is large with both indoor and outdoor seating. We did get attacked by a bee outside, so we switched to indoor seating with no issues. Wish there was a Rev in the south shore.

rev kitchen & bar is a casual restaurant that has some great fried food options. jenny was our server, she was kind and always attentive. we started with the bang bang shrimp which i loved, but i wish they had four lettuce wraps so it could be evenly split for two people. the crispy cauliflower bowl had the perfect ingredients but the cauliflower had too much batter, and the crispy haddock sandwich covered in potato chips was the perfect sandwich minus the soggy bottom. bang bang shrimp 9/10 crispy cauli bowl 7.5/10 crispy haddock sandwich 9/10 they brought our check and 2 drinks we didn't order were included, we noticed and it was fixed, but check your check just in case! ambiance: 2.5/5 food: 4.2/5 service: 4/5 rev kitchen & bar: 3.5/5

    Bang Bang Shrimp (GF)

I'm GF, so my boyfriend was very excited to find this restaurant. I was excited looking at their menu offerings. We drove from Medford to try the restaurant. For apps, we ordered the bang bang shrimp and cauliflower. The bang bang shrimp was the best thing we had. I do think the shrimp could be more crispy and I wish these were offered as tacos with corn tortillas. The cauliflower was pretty good as well, but I wish there was more cauliflower for the price. The sauce was my favorite part. I got the fried chicken sandwich, which was okay. I've had a GF fried chicken sandwich at tavern on the square, which is very crispy, and I expected this to be the same. There wasn't much breading or chicken. The side salad was simple but good and a great size. My boyfriend got a burger, which was nothing to write home about. The side of truffle fries were good and much better and warmer than the fries that came with my boyfriend's burger. The food was okay, but not worth the drive. Next time we will try the rev burger spot with all GF offerings, which we hope is worth the drive.

Sunday Lunch Not my usual kind of place, but we were in the area and craving a burger. - The Rev's burger was delicious. I would prefer a more toasted, but it was still a solid bun. Fries are standard, nothing special. - Butternut squash soup: I prefer a savory butternut squash soup. This one was too sweet for my taste but it still had good flavor. - Aesthetics of the place has a tad of that restaurant chain vibe (the place is not a chain) which I didn't love. - Convenient that I can easily pay with apple pay/CC by just scanning bar code on the receipt. I put the most weight on the burger, so gave the place 4 stars. I suppose for the whole experience it would be more 3.5 stars, but I am sucker for rounding up :).

    Chocolate Pistachio Martini

Corey was a fantastic server and his trainee was great too. My daughter and I love it here and have never had a bad experience. Today, they were out of mint for the thin mint drink, so they offered me a few choices... ended up with a Chocolate Pistachio martini that was delicious!! As always, my food was amazing, I highly recommend the Steak Frites.

Portions were absolutely insane. The food was delicious and we couldn't even come close to finishing an appetizer and our mains.

Nothing on the menu or from the server mentioned that, which was disappointing right away. When I told the server I didn't like it and wanted something else, he literally tilted his head and said, "ummm what do I tell the bartender?" That honestly rubbed me the wrong way -- just felt unprofessional and awkward. Jenny got a tequila cosmo, which was fine, nothing special. Food-wise, everything was just average. The bao buns were overcooked and the bun fell apart, though the flavor was decent. The pineapple fried rice was probably the best thing we had, but even that was just okay. We also had dumplings -- Jenny liked them, but I thought they were just alright. Dessert was the biggest miss. The blueberry cobbler was not good at all -- maybe a 3/10 at best. One thing that really didn't sit right was when we asked to split the tasting menu and were told no. That doesn't make much sense -- if people want to share, especially for a tasting menu, it should be allowed. Overall, nothing stood out in a good way, and between the service and the food, solid ambiance , it just wasn't a great experience.

We ordered a few things to split and went off of what we saw at other tables. So many people had the pizzas so we had to give it a go. The French onion soup was fantastic and rich. The Ceaser salad was good, and not too intense but it was garlicky and had homemade hand ripped croutons. We were starving so we ordered the Brussels sprouts on a whim and it was incredible! The umami flavor and sou sauce ginger aioli with the pickled onions was so unexpected we almost ordered one to go. Lastly was the pizza, the dough is great and sadly we didn't get to try their red sauce but the pizza was excellent. They have a huge beer selection and we loved seeing their on tap selection. Definitely recommend getting a reservation since they never had empty tables but there wasn't a line out the door. There are two sides to the restaurant and the bar is big and well staffed. We waited about 15 minutes to get water or see any one at our table but that's because we came at 6:30 pm on a Saturday and they were absolutely busy. Once we saw our waitress and got our order in it was quick and smooth sailing. Highly recommend grabbing a seat at the high tops and enjoying your time.

I opted for the Steak Frites and he got the Pork Saltimbocca, our son (5) had the chicken quesadilla. We were all really happy with our choices. The steak was cooked perfect (I get medium) it was a nice pink and the flavor packed in each bite was so good. My husband couldn't stop praising the pork and even said "it's the best I think I have ever had"...of course I didn't take offense. My son and I also loved the fries served with our meals, they are like steak fries but way better. For drinks my husband got his usual martini (and he loves places that make it right...no vermouth!) and I had a black and tan (but with the Cider Donut cider beer from Boston's own Downeast Cider)...nicknamed the Snakebite or Black Velvet. The location off Bay Road was adjacent to the train station, so this will be a great meet-up location on my late voyages home when we are too tired to cook. It's got a great bar (which we visited in the past) and was comfortable with the glow of a cool fireplace in the dining room. We parked on the side street but there seems to be ample parking all around. This dinner definitely did not disappoint, and we will be back!

After about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting with no service, we were about to leave when a server finally came to our table. Since they were obviously busy and weren't keeping up with the crowd that night, we tried to order two drinks each so they could save a little of their time and we could relax without worrying about if a server was going to take our order again before the end of the week. The server very sharply said that he was NOT going to give us two drinks at a time, CERTAINLY not with drinks of this high alcohol content. We ordered one drink each, cashed out and bounced. The cocktail I got was fine; I could make a slightly worse version at home at a fraction of the price (or even two at once!). We we were told later by a friendlier Salemite at a bar with a better vibe that there is a Massachusetts state law that prohibits having two drinks at once at a bar. Fair enough. Had our server told us that, unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to give us two drinks at once -- instead of making us feel like idiots/degenerates for daring to ask -- we probably would have dropped a lot of vacation money there that night. Oh well; we had a great time at the other places we went.
