This is a solid place. The pictures were a bit deceiving. The place was a little more run down than the pictures. We almost left after walking in, but the ratings were good, so we decided to stay. The staff were ok, but that is the Boston area for you. I like that I could get clam strips and nothing else. I don't like to have all the fries that usually come with a plater. My DH liked his fish tacos, just wanted more sauce on it. He liked the flavor. My son had a chicken sandwich, which was loaded with chicken. What a great HIDDEN JEWEL in Quincy Round-about by Fore River Bridge! Tucked away in the corner has the. BEST SEAFOOD I have had in a long time! To compare to Clam Box on Wollaston Beach this locale blows them out of the water! Truly freshly made and reasonable prices ! I had the Clam Belly Roll and it was so tasty and tender that I could not help but devour it in a couple of bites ! A quaint little seafood restaurant that was the hidden gem We've been looking for this entire trip, the lobster stop came highly recommended by a couple locals who swore that it would be absolutely amazing and they were right. We walked in and immediately saw the tanks and menu board and knew this was the spot, the gentleman at the counter got our order moving quickly and shortly after taking a seat in their small dining area our soups were delivered to the table. A couple bowls of clam chowder (not pictured as it was immediately being enjoyed the moment it hit the table ) and a bowl of lobster bisque. My in-laws remarked that they loved the extra amount of clam in it and the bisque was thick creamy and had a healthy amount of lobster in it... might be the best I've had in quite a while. The misses got the clam strips and onion rings, which came piled high with this light but insanely flavorful breading on it (both items). The clams were fried to perfection as were the onions. She also opted for a shrimp taco which was a piled high slaw and crispy shrimp delight. I missed the photo op on this but there is a pic of it with the chips that go with the other rolls... The rest of us opted have the lobster rolls cold (I heard the hot with butter is something that is a must try), and they came packed with fresh lobster and wow was that just the most delicious thing I had this entire trip. I immediately wanted to get another for breakfast when we depart tomorrow (I also had those light and crispy onion rings). Our little yelper had the kids cheese burger and for a kid a double patty burger with fries is just an intimidating treat but she was up for the challenge. That was an excellent value and meal for a hungry kid. This place gets a 5star on food quality and quantity alone. Freshness, flavor and portions all earned this rating from me. Came to Massachusetts to visit family and it was only right to eat some seafood while we were on the East Coast! My mom found this place and so happy that she did. The lobster rolls had fresh lobster w/ a nice brioche bun. You can get the roll with lobster salad if that's your speed. The only recommendation I have for this roll is to request the tail. The roll was filled with the meat from the claws so it was a bit more chewy than I like. The fried clam strips and fries were fried to perfection! No complaints there. I'll have to go back next time I'm in Massachusetts to try something different on their large menu. read more

The Lobster Stop is a fish market that also serves cooked seafood. It has indoor and outdoor seating and is next to the Washington Street Bridge. Inside they have live lobster tanks. I noticed that they served lobster rolls here like many places in the area do but the prices were much lower. Here they sell one for $14 with chips and pickle or 2 with chips and pickle for $25. Most restaurants I saw sell one for about $32! So I ordered 2 at the counter and they were ready in less than 10 minutes. Served cool on hot dog size buns they were delicious. Who doesn't love lobster rolls? Who doesn't love them at this price? Yes, it was a very good tasting lunch that satisfied my lobster craving without disrespecting my pocket book. They have many other prepared seafood offerings here too. I saw several people buy live lobsters to take home and cook. This place is the definition of a neighborhood fish market and I'm sure that's why they are so popular. read more

Went and go my first fried scallops of the season and to my very big disappointment they were all sandy. I have never had scallops with sand. Much less in every one. Extremely disappointed. Great spot in quincy for lobsters! Was looking for lobsters nearby and found this one. At first, when we arrived there were no lobsters. But, the staff let us know lobsters were coming soon and so we waited about 45 min until they arrived. They were well worth the wait!! We ordered 2 steamed lobsters, which came out pretty fast. The lobsters did have a lot of water come out when we cracked them, but that didnt take away from the taste! The seating of the area was not the best. The inside was very dim, so we wanted to sit outside on the nice sunny day, but the store is located right next to a giant bridge, so it got pretty loud with all the cars. The four star rating online is absurd. The food was mediocre at best. Lobster rolls were just OK but the onion rings we paid extra for were not fresh, over-fried and tasteless. There was no service. It was an effort to get an extra couple of napkins for our table. The restaurant itself is not attractive and very difficult to enter as the parking lot is on a sharp curve round-about with zero signage. Perhaps locals enjoy the convenience but I would recommend against anyone travelling to this place. read more

Other than steamed lobsters they offer mostly fried seafood in the menu, but some grilled options upon request. Seafood is pretty fresh, but could be slightly overcooked. Nothing fancy flavor or homemade sauce (only butter and store bought tartar/hot sauce/ketchup), but nothing beats fresh seafood at a good price. Such a hidden gem that everyone should know! A lot of my friends recommended me to give this place a try. If you're in Quincy, and both Tony's and the Clam Box is packed during the summer, come here! They're known for their cheap lobster roll deal. As of May 2023, single lobster roll is only $15! For two, $25! Portion is very decent for the price! I stuck to their original which is mixed with Mayo. Pretty much a lobster salad on a hot butter hotdog bun. Not a fan of Mayo? I heard they offer hot butter. Which I kind of regret not getting. One with Mayo and one with hot butter sounds good. Their seafood combinations is decent, also. Not as great but good enough. Loaded with so much fries on the bottom, comes with cole slaw. I got fried clam strips and fried scallops. It's for sure not Tony's but it'll do. I also got a bowl of clam chowder. It was ok. A little too liquidity for me. The texture was a little off. An easy miss, The Lobster Stop is right next to a traffic circle and has its own parking lot. My husband found this place on Yelp (gosh thank you Yelp for always being so helpful) and decided to drive here after dropping our little girl dog and I at our AirBnB to pick up some lunch for us. He ended up ordering: Lobster Roll (single), $14.99 prior to tax- This entrée comes with a bag of Lay's potato chips and a pickle. To be honest, I have never been a fan of lobster rolls and always found them to be plain (although I do like the taste of lobster without butter) and would rather prefer eating lobster by itself. But the lobster filling for this roll was shredded and mixed with mayonnaise (and most likely other seasonings). 2 lb Lobster (select), $13.99/ lb- With market pricing, "select" is the largest size. My husband ended up purchasing ~ 2 lbs. This place will steam your lobster at no additional charge. The lobster meat was tender and just delicious all on its own (although I'm sure most would prefer butter, I love lobster just as it is). Clam Chowder (Bowl), $6.99 prior to tax- My husband got a bowl of chowder for me. The size was a good portion to share (but I didn't, lol).
