The food here, is always fresh. The fried food is delicious and not greasy. The fisherman's platter is our favorite. I only wish they had a large onion ring box. The clam chowder is the best I've ever had and they do not use, pork fat as a base. We've also had the grilled Salmon with rice & broccoli, extremely fresh and not over cooked. Well, needed some fresh scallops and de died to try a different spot. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered a scallop plate for 28.99 on menu that rang up 31.99 ? She adjusted price. Asked to sub onion rings instead of fries... no substitutions. Ordered a lobster bisque small for 6.99 Place was freezing cold with no heat to eat inside... was Warmer outside? Nice clean store, restaurant seating area. Scallops were fresh and very good , not greasy, overcooked ones. Fries a nice crunch , but too many . Cole slaw was just ok. Lobster bisque was cold, lumpy, no flavor, no lobster pieces... lousy ... wouldn't order again. Had to warm up in car after the meal... need to turn some heat on Root beer added on for 3.20 was just ok from a bottler in Ludlow Ma. Definitely a spot for fresh seafood to take home, order cooked. If you've followed along on any of my reviews at seafood places, you'll hear me say it over and over again - i am very picky when it comes to where I get my seafood. You can get serious food poisoning if the seafood isn't cooked right or kept at the right temperatures. When I entered waves seafood market, the first thing I noticed was the shop's smell. You knew you were in a seafood store but it did not smell like one...and that's saying something! Already impressed with the smell and overall clean feel of the store, the seafood looked fresh and delicious too! We decided to grab some food and eat in to enjoy it as fresh as possible. Let me tell you, I grew up by Wolly Beach where everyone goes to Tony's or the Clam Box for seafood. Waves is WAYYYY BETTER, dare I say not even comparable. It's super fresh, not even a bit soggy, and not greasy. The seafood is plump, juicy, prepared properly, and well seasoned. It was also way more affordable than Tony's or the Clam Box. I also really like that they do non-fried items too for those who aren't feeling fried seafood but still want seafood! The staff was also a highlight. Every single one of them weren't just friendly and pleasant, they were all also very hospitable. They checked in on us 3 times while we were there. Made sure we had Silverware and enough sauces. They took initiative to learn more about their customers and checked in on the food quality. Overall, I'm going to be a frequent visitor and will refer all my south shore friends here. Update 8/22/24: We got Uber eats whole belly meal & clam crowder . The portions were very small. I could count there was less then 10 clam belly. The fries barely cover the bottom of the container . The chowder was fine but for $9. I expect more. I won't come back. You can clearly tell that they don't care about repeat business by the outrageous prices and small portions . We came at 11:30am to beat the rush. It wasn't to busy. Service was fine. It was about a 20 minute wait for our food. We got the seafood platter and lobster bisque. The seafood platter came with shrimp, haddock, scallops, and whole clams . The scallops were huge and juicy. The whole clams were delicious. The lobster bisque was okay. I was in the mood for some classic New England seafood after work on day and found Waves on Yelp. It wasn't too far away so we decided to try it out! We ordered ahead since they were closing at 6 that day, and the food was ready right as we arrived 15 minutes later. The interior is very clean and simple, a counter with their fresh seafood and an area with homemade items to go and sauces + drinks. There were a couple of 2 person tables inside but we opted to sit outside to take advantage of the nice weather. I shared a fried seafood platter and cold lobster roll with my partner. The quality of the seafood was a lot better than what we've had a few weeks earlier in the Cape and the portions were loaded. The fried scallops, clams, shrimp and fish were all piping hot, and the lobster roll was refreshing and delicious. One of the owners came outside to chat with us for a bit and they were extremely hospitable and down to earth. I'll definitely be coming back to Waves in the near future to fulfill similar cravings and buy some fresh seafood as well! read more

Just picked up and partially ate what was sold as a clam strip plate....disgusting & and a sorry excuse for a finished product. Small quantity of clam strips that fell apart when touched that were covering the mountain of oily French fries that were 80% of the container contents. Also included was a very tiny cup of tartar sauce, clearly insufficient for any normal clam strip plate meal, although once finishing what strips were detectable, the tater sauce was sadly sufficient. The small Cole slaw container was the highlight of my meal...I've been here several times previously with ok meals but it's time to check out other seafood spots, as this was awful. read more

Everything was tasty and well seasoned, including the breading of the fried combo, plus the flavorful coleslaw and sweet cornbread TEXTURE: 5/5 - nicely fried all around, satisfying and not too heavy PRICE: 4/5 - great for the quality seafood, both the cooked options and fresh market items. Everyone said if your going ro Boston you must eat seafood. Well I'm not a big fan of alot of seafood. But Lobster is one thing I will eat, so off we went to get a Lobster roll.. I would have preferred the roll warm I didn't hate it. I found it very tasty. The bread it was on was warm, toasted and full of Lobster. Even the fry's were good. The Lobster bisque was the best I ever had. The clam chowder was not for me, so I can only tell you my friend said it was delish. This is a small place. Take out only. Very clean. I always go to the same place for seafood around Quincy until one day, my partner's mom told me to check out this market and recommended their fried oyster. We got this in additional to some fried scallops and whole belly clams. The food was great and the employees working there were really nice. I've been meaning to try Waves out for month now and finally went last week. I can't give it five stars, but it was close! This is a spotlessly clean, bright, fresh seafood market and takeout counter. The fresh seafood counter had enough selections to make it interesting, and the prices were lower than what I saw at the grocery store this week. Most of the menu salads and chowders were in a refrigerated case, easy to browse and select for a quick pickup, if you didn't already call in a takeout order. Food: everything was tasty. The caesar salad we ordered had a freshly grilled piece of salmon added to it- still hot from the grill! A fried whole clam/fried shrimp combo plate was good- not enough clam bellies but more than the ubiquitous five shrimp you usually get on a plate like this. It was heaped with seafood, fries and cole slaw. The fries were limp and undercooked. Very undercooked - takes a star off for me. On the other hand, the cole slaw was surprisingly tasty, just not enough to put that star back. We added a large fish chowder that was ok. Not great but not bad. A bit more fish would have given it some identity and a bit of seasoning would have perked it right up. Customer Service: The delightful woman running the counter was right on the ball, packaging plates up, taking in-person orders, and being generally helpful, all with a smile. Plus, we added a tartar sauce to be sure we had enough for the fish and didn't get dinged an extra charge, as seems to be the norm everywhere now - I appreciated that! I'll be back to try fish & chips and to pick out some fresh seafood for one of those rare times I cook at home! read more

We stopped by Waves on our way to the airport as we wanted one last lobster roll before heading back to FL, and boy were we glad we stopped. The lobster rolls (we had both hot and cold) were packed full of meat, and the roll itself was perfectly toasted and buttery too. We also had some lobster bisque, and it was smooth and flavorful; some of the best I've ever eaten. If we could give 10 stars we would, the food is that good!! read more

It's obvious there are an abundance of fake reviews on here, as evidenced by the way they are written and the reviewer stats themself (no user pic, no friends, minimal to no other reviews).... however, as I walked in to try again, it's as if the counter people don't want to be there, a few people waiting for food they ordered for upwards of 20 minutes or longer, also the main portions have gotten smaller, I don't blame anything for this as food costs can be controlled by who's doing the ordering. Speaking of which, you don't get what you ordered as well.. this could be a front of house to back of house problem... whole belly clams are not STRIPS, scallops should be soft and sweet, not chewy and oily. Clam chowder is thin and just lacking ANY WOW FACTOR, Cole slaw is ONLY delicious side. I'm not going to patronize this place again any time soon. read more

Picked up two pounds of mussels earlier today and noticed one of them was wide open as she was weighing them. I should have told her to the put them back. As soon as I opened the box when I got home, it was apparent that 90% of them were dead already. I'm not sure that I would trust the freshness of any of the food here. read more

Stopped in for lunch. The service was great, very friendly. The $1.00 oysters (Wed. special) were freshly shucked and chilled, served on ice. The fried calamari was cooked to perfection and served with a side of mild peppers and aioli. Informal, order at the counter and eat in or take out. The French fries were hot and delicious. I'm not going to give one, two, or three stars because I don't believe in truly bashing independent companies that are trying to do good. Truthfully I was in there when you first opened and I got the fish and chips. When I first went there they had healthy hearty plates and worth the bucks. But this is the second time I've been there and it just seems like the portions are not only getting smaller, but it seemed like it was almost just thrown in. They are generous with the tartar sauce and the coleslaw. But I just think that you should go back to the healthier pieces of fish like before. I understand times are hard for a lot of restaurants, so sometimes they can't give an abundance. But just a little cooler arrangement and a little bit more for the bucks and you guys will be all right. read more

My husband came in for some seafood, especially for the fish and chips and the seafood platter. First of all, dinner was absolutely ruined. Didn't even eat it. Batter was falling off, and the fries were oily as hell. Just visually nauseating. Service was great actually, for once. Don't even dare calling or visiting this place, refunding will always be store credit to just spend more money. Can't have your own money back in full. Spoke with the owner, seemed like she didn't care. A people pleaser, and not genuinely concerned. Prices are insane. read more

I ordered 7 steamed lobsters and clam strips for takeout and everything was wonderful! The lobsters were big and delicious and the strips were fried perfectly ! I agree with the guy who said there are fake reviews on this site. I am local, so I've tried them several times. Each time I am saddened. The front of the house does not want to be there. I only order fresh fish. When I ask is is fresh- they kind of look at me and reluctantly nod. I asked for a half pound, and they give me 3/4 of a pound. Now if you don't want to serve 1/2 pound, say we don't do that. But don't over charge and act as if nothing is wrong. I usually say something but the attitude is not worth it. Try Burke's in Quincy where they don't demean you for ordering small portions- and they know how to cut fish. Or Whole Foods- at least you won't be overcharged. I'm done giving them my business. It is obvious th efront of the house has not been in the service industry before by the way they wait on people. Depressing. read more

I was really excited to find a place closer to home than Lobster Stop for fried seafood that's opened all year. The murals outside are fun and the inside was very clean. They offer a selection of cooked items and a variety of fresh seafood, including live lobsters. There's also some ready to use ingredients in the fridge sections and packages of dry pastas. Don't expect friendly service. The lady who took our order looked like she'd rather be on a Caribbean cruise instead. Hubby & I both ordered 2 way fried combo - whole clams & haddock to go...took about 15 minutes for our orders. Got home, and to our surprise, the fish was missing - they gave us fried scallops instead. Had to bring it back, and the cook came out to apologize for the mistake and fried up the fish for us, which took another 10 minutes. Needless to say, everything was soggy by the time we got home to eat. Food wasn't bad but portions were smaller than McKay's & Loster Stop. I really liked their coleslaw...it wasn't drowning in mayo! I ordered 2 take out meals today from WAVES. One was a lobster roll loaded with fresh, juicy, hunks of hot lobster meat. Plus i carried out some seafood salad and scallops wrapped with bacon that i am eating now. This new seafood amd take out market is located in East Braintree.
