I have gotten food from here a few times since it opened and each time it has been consistently and reliably delicious. I usually order the seafood platter because I like whole-body clams and it's hard to find them outside of the New England area. The clam chowder is also a favorite. I don't live in Boston but I always look forward to going by when I visit family area. The service is great and so is the bright ambiance. But mostly I go for the food. At some point, I would love to try something from the fish counter because it always looks fresh! read more

We just took out our first order today. The people were very nice to me, who has trouble walking. They carried the bag to my car and helped me down from the curb. We got three soups and three seafood plates. Mine was very delicious plus I tasted a clam chowder and will definitely order that next time. The only reason they did not get 5 stars is my husband only got 8 scallops in his plate and wanted more. I had clam strips and a large portion and sooo good. If you have not visited this place put it on your list I know you will love it. read more

I'm from Los Angeles and was visiting family in Braintree. I was craving some fresh seafood and I happened to stumble across this restaurant while on my visit. It was such a great eating experience. I was greeted when I walked in and the restaurant was nice and clean. I asked for suggestions and ultimately decided on the lobster roll. It was absolutely delicious! Can't go wrong with the fresh lobster and the buttery roll. I also liked how they had seafood items packaged and ready to buy like the grocery store. When I come back to town, this spot will definitely be on my "go to" list. read more

I heard great things about this place so I went and tried it out. There were maybe 5 other people in the restaurant who placed orders for take-out (I was going for eat-in) after I had place my order for a clam and scallop dinner. It was a good 20 minutes before I got my order and the people who had come in after me had already gotten their meals and left. The meal itself was alright but it wasn't hot. Today was my second time ordering from Waves. We ordered baked haddock plates (2) and clam chowder, and when we went inside to pick up we added lobster mac & cheese and seafood salad. The baked haddock was a lot more food than I was expecting for the price, and it was extremely fresh. The clam chowder - the best I've had in Boston, which actually surprised me. Neither of us got to the seafood salad or lobster mac & cheese and we didn't finish the clam chowder, because this was honestly more food than we planned to eat. My second visit to Waves Seafood on Quincy Ave in Braintree did not disappoint. I bought 2 pounds of deliciously fresh swordfish. I like it a bit on the thick size to grill. Went for lunch on a Saturday. Fish and chips were fresh; the fish was top-notch and the fries were average. Shrimp roll was very good and very filling. The service was great and we had a chance to chat with the owners while waiting for our food and they were so pleasant. Have passed by Waves a few times since moving here some months ago, but the exterior looks like a strip mall restaurant, which discouraged me. Tried it today because I haven't had a good fried seafood plate in a long time and was passing by, again. Originally from the Cape and know all the off the beaten path great clam shacks. Tried several places in Weymouth/Qunicy/Braintree over the past months and have been very disappointed. Picked up my plate at Waves, got to the car and had to dive in before leaving to go home. Chef made a mistake in the order, so I went back in. If it wasn't a staple in the dish, I would have just gone home without it. They expedited a whole new plate, which I didn't expect as it was only missing one ingredient. The rest of my dinner would have gotten cold if I waited for the missing food and they knew that. The seafood plate was better than I ever expected. Fresh, crunchy, lightly battered and delicious. Total food-gasam. Not big portions and a little expensive, but I would trade a large portion of mediocre food for a small helping of great food any day. Tarter and cocktail sauces are homemade, which I knew immediately. Clams were small and tender, perfectly cooked as was the haddock. Shrimp were large and moist along with the beautiful scallops. Not bay scallops, but I haven't seen those in years. No one can afford them, anyway. Coleslaw was a little different for me, but great. What I realized was that I don't need a splintery picnic table on a wharf to enjoy great seafood. This fried seafood plate took me there. Can't wait to go back to try the chowder and, especially, the lobster bisque. I haven't had a great bowl of bisque since Anthony's Pier 4 closed decades ago. Go to Waves. You won't be disappointed. Went to Waves to get some lunch. The fish and chips was delicious, hot, and looked good. So many friendly faces serving as I waiting for my food. Cashiers were polite and informed when I was ordering my good. Definitely will be going back and reccomend others to try! Next time, I will have to get some seafood to cook at home! read more

After hearing so many great things about this place, we just tried it, and wish that we hadn't. The wife and I both started with clam chowder which was bland and thin. Decent amount of clams, but very small pieces. My wife had a haddock sandwich with fries. The sandwich was literally a small piece of breaded haddock between a burger bun. No lettuce, tomatoes, or cheese. To accompany this "wonderful" sammy was a handful of room temperature frozen fries. I had a baked seafood meal with haddock and scallops. I got 3 scallops and a thin piece of haddock that had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever besides a tablespoon of bread crumbs. To accompany this tasteless seafood was boxed rice pilaf and frozen mixed vegetables that must have been boiled for hours because the broccoli was almost as white as the cauliflower. Honestly, and without jest, a fish sandwich from McDonald's would have been a better option. Never again! read more

started with receiving wrong order. missing items wrong plate. went back got correct plate, baked haddock small thin fillet overcooked and buried in to many bread crumbs. wife's haddock plate was almost as bad. soggy caned string beans. I will never go back! read more

I can't say enough about Waves! We have been at least 4 times now and consider it our go to seafood stop. The seafood has been perfect every time. We have had clams, shrimp, scallops, and haddock-the food is amazing!! Cooked perfectly, light, not greasy at all- and the clams don't have the gritty, sandy texture you get at some places and the scallops are huge and so good! We haven't tried the baked options yet but are so excited you added them ( and the combo plates!) to your menu. Today we tried the seafood platter and they don't skimp on anything! Plenty of shrimp, scallops and clams and a huge portion of haddock. Honestly enough to share, but so delicious we didn't . The chowder is also fantastic! We have also bought fresh seafood there and it was fabulous. The women out front were also so nice and helpful. I highly recommend you try Waves- you won't be disappointed.
