Last time I was at the parrot was a year ago and it was very good. Had been a regular for many years but now more sporadic. We went on a Friday night at 6:30pm. It's a bit confusing where the hostess is to be seated, years ago it was obvious. Friendly Hostess is lower level at the bar area. We got seated upper deck because it seemed like a mild evening. The views are gorgeous as always. Waitress came over quickly and we got our drinks. Waitress was not overly friendly, but seemed liked she had a really long day of service. Drinks were good, basic captain and coke and a Nantasket cowboy made w coconut whisky, sweet summer drink. We placed our order and it got too chilly so we asked the hostess who was nearby if we could move inside. She was very accommodating and sat us inside which had beautiful views as well. A waiter came over and asked if we had been helped and we told him we were outside but already ordered. Our food comes out shortly, smash burger and fries were very good. Clam chowder was good but different, it was more grainy than smooth with finely chopped clams and bacon w good seasoning. The lobster Rangoons were great, plenty filled w creamy filling and the outside soft yet crispy w a sweet sour dipping sauce. Our waiter never came back during our entire meal to see how we were or to be able for us to ask for water which we wanted. We got the attention of a woman cleaning tables to ask for a check. Our waiter eventually came back to ask how we were doing. Well, we ate our meal and asked someone else for the check and never got water...the service is lacking a bit, and they seemed somewhat frazzled running around. It was definitely a busy night, food is great but needs some work on the service. Casual beachy vibe, place is sadly on the run down side, inside chairs not too comfortable but go back because I love the views and the food we had was good. read more

Great service at a quaint spot right off the water in Nantasket! We came during $1 oysters and were pleasantly surprised by the quality. The classic ceasar was exactly what i'd hoped for but the steamed Chatham Mussels were exceptional! We stopped by The Parrot after a beach day since it was one of the only restaurants still open. The restaurant was just okay overall. We dined around 8-9 PM, and upstairs seating was already closed so we sat downstairs. One issue was that our table kept rocking. It was also pretty hard to find our server. The food itself was pretty good. The street corn was juicy and had a nice spicy mayo sauce. The calamari was tasty. The octopus pieces were flaky and well-cooked, but there were way more onions than actual calamari. The burger was solid, and the fries were thick and potatoy. Service definitely could've been better. Our server seemed busy, we never got water refills, and we had to ask the host for to-go boxes. It was also on the pricier side. If you're craving food from here, I'd probably recommend takeout instead of dining in. read more

Love this restaurant so much. My daughter ( who recently passed away) came here with us in July, and this is the last restaurant that she ever went to. Since then we've been back multiple times, I can't say enough how wonderful a server Sarah is. Beyond that it's such a great experience to sit out on the patio And see the ocean while basking in the sun and enjoying their wonderful oysters and lobster rolls. Their lobster Rangoon is also very good and their cocktails are crafted and delicious. read more

A memorable lunch an hour ago. Carnitas and Eggs entree. Tasty black coffee and ice water. A robust menu including a full bar on the ground floor. Very astute service and window-side seating facing the beach. Free and ample parking adjacent to the restaurant. Steps up and in (and I don't know of there's an old elevator.) My carnitas were delicious. Eggs are "as you request" (i asked for scrambled.) Hash brown potatoes were flavorful and good-sized. Two freshly toasted and lightly buttered pieces of toast took up the rest of a large plate. My coffee cup was refilled regularly and unobtrusively. I'll definitely return. read more

So delicious & exactly what we needed after a fun day at the beach! I seem to always crave savory fried food after swimming in sea water and tanning on the sand, and so we were very glad to order items like fish n chips, fried calamari, and lobster rangoons! Food was absolutely scrumptious. Ordered the parrot juice cocktail and it tasted really good, might have preferred an even stronger drink to be honest, but that would probably worsen the taste! I attended a private event here over the weekend on the top floor and the location/view was mind blowing! The food offered was delicious and I was really impressed with their beer offerings; quite a few local craft breweries on draft and I really enjoyed whichever Vitamin Sea NEIPA they had on draft that my husband brought me. read more

I held my wedding reception upstairs in November 2025. Everything was perfect. The staff was so kind, helpful, attentive and professional. Being a bride, I was obviously overwhelmed at a few points, the manager on duty Brandy, was so incredibly helpful for my MOH with my bustle that was giving me some issues. She went out of her way to make sure I was all set! The food was DELICIOUS, we got so many compliments from our guests that day and afterwards! Watching the owners and managerial staff work behind the line was so reassuring that there was all hands on deck for my big day. Special shoutout to Hailey Houlihan, she was so incredible to work with on planning the big day. She met every request we had, was extra cautious with some severe food allergies and made the cutest name cards for the whole wedding! It was a room full of love, from the hands making the food to the servers delivering and everything in between. Topping off the night with an incredible pink sunset with our nearest and dearest - Thank you Parrot staff for being such a important part of one of my favorite memories. Had lunch here today with my husband and 4 young kids. We got this super comfy corner table with throw pillows and ocean views. The food did not disappoint, especially the poutine !!! Our server Eric was so awesome and really made the whole experience memorable. He made us feel so at home and you can tell he actually enjoys his job and it was refreshing to be around. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes to be seated, only to be told by a high school-aged staff member that we had to get up from our table because a group of ladies had a reservation. This was after we were already seated! The service was completely unprofessional, and the whole situation was handled poorly. I honestly don't even know where to start with this absolute train wreck of a restaurant. From the moment I walked in, I knew I'd made a mistake, but I tried to keep an open mind. Big mistake. This place is without a doubt one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in my life, and I don't say that lightly. First off, the atmosphere felt like it was thrown together in 15 minutes by someone who's never actually eaten in a restaurant before. Sticky tables, greasy menus, and lighting that made me feel like I was waiting in a hospital lobby. You'd think for the insane prices they're charging, they could at least afford a mop and a bucket. Nope. Then comes the service. Or should I say the lack of service. Our server acted like we were a massive inconvenience just for existing. No hello, no smile, nothing. It was like pulling teeth just to get water, and when it finally showed up it tasted like it had been sitting in a rusty garden hose all day. I swear the staff were more interested in chatting with each other than doing their jobs. Now, the food. My god, the food. Calling it food feels generous. Everything we ordered was either bland, burnt, or both. My dish looked like it had been microwaved straight out of a gas station freezer and then dropped on the plate. Overcooked meat, soggy vegetables, and some kind of "sauce" that tasted like expired ketchup mixed with vinegar. I've had better meals at actual school cafeterias -- and those are meant to be cheap. And let's not forget the portion sizes. For what they charged, I was expecting at least something halfway decent or at least filling. Instead, I got a sad little pile of scraps that wouldn't even pass as a side dish anywhere else. It's almost insulting -- they take your money, then serve you a plate that looks like it came off the kids' menu. Speaking of money, the prices here are highway robbery. I don't mind paying good money for good food, but this wasn't just bad, it was laughably bad. The bill was outrageous -- I could've gone to literally any other spot in town, gotten a far better meal, and still had cash left over. Here? You walk out poorer, hungrier, and angrier. By the time we left, I felt scammed. Straight-up scammed. Not only did I waste money, I wasted my time and appetite on a place that clearly doesn't care about its customers or its food. This restaurant is the definition of all hype and zero substance. If you're reading this wondering if you should try it "just to see," don't. Seriously, save yourself the regret. Go to a food truck, go to a diner, hell, grab a frozen pizza and cook it at home -- you'll be infinitely happier than stepping foot in this disaster of an establishment. Zero stars if I could. My husband got the smash burger- which like the reviews said was a frozen patty and didn't resemble a smash burger whatsoever but it tasted like a standard burger. No big deal. I wanted the fish and chips but too many reviews said they were gross so I opted for the baked haddock (fresh from duxbury!)- it was gross- it was caked in a small layer of something and smothered in butter. I mean 1-2 sticks of butter. Couldn't really taste the fish itself. I got the truffle fries with it- undercooked fries but better than the fish. Only good thing was that Vitamin sea was on tap for a decent price. I got the pina colada with was okay. We would not return and recommend you try somewhere else. Lovely ambience, location, and great view of the beach! Honestly most of the 3 stars are for the restaurant vibe itself as well as the great spicy margarita! The food though was just fine considering the price point. Our waitress who was sweet also didn't know if the entree I ordered had sides so I ordered additional sides and then my entree came with two sides leaving me with a ton more of average food to eat. I decided to write this review while eating my leftovers a few hours later and really it's nothing to write home about. I did enjoy the cocktails and the oysters! Both were very good! Dined here after the dinner rush with family, around 7PM. The view was stunning and it was a lovely day for dinner. The service, however, was the most atrocious I had ever received. Our waters were not refilled until we received the check (an hour and a half later). The calamari appetizer was mostly fried onions and jalapeños for a calamari only price. My girlfriend's meal did not come out with the rest of the other meals, to the point where i had to start eating because it had been 25 minutes since my plate was delivered. Catching our waitress was impossible, you could kindly say excuse me and raise your hand and she would keep on walking. Carne asada tacos were overpriced and average. This is the best beach town restaurant on the South Shore! Last night, the stuffed lobster was amazing, fresh, tasteful and presentation wonderful. My husband had an amazing Fish Sandwich, the portion, wow!! Our server, think her name was Maddie was attentive, polite, engaged and always had a smile on her face, even though it was 90 degrees and packed! The view was like a postcard with everyone having a grand time at the beach! We had issues with the server, not coming back. It took them forever to take our orders and bring out the appetizers. The waitress literally disappeared, whether she left we don't know. We only know that we weren't the only table affected by the issues. Outside of the service issue, the food was fantastic. I don't usually get five stars just for fantastic. What we ordered: Stuffed clam - had good flavor, but had an overwhelming amount of breadcrumbs, and was on the mushy side. Portuguese stew- very good flavor and seasoning, seafood is very fresh, and the potatoes are perfectly cooked. Dozen oysters, fresh- great flavor, at first it was a tad briny, but it went down delicious. They also do a very thick, grated horseradish with a cocktail sauce. I love the horseradish! Terrible dining experience. Table for 10. First two entrees came out...then another one. Many minutes later when mine was now cold, a few more came out. 2 never made it even though we asked twice. We finally cancelled them as every one else had longed finished. I see the final two come out and the waiter telling the runner to try and serve them anyone even though we had cancelled. Not serve on the house - but serve as if nothing wrong had happened. No apology, no visit from the manager. Then we asked for the bill...waited forever and had to get up and stand by the register to pay since our waiter was not interested in us anymore. We were unable to eat here because it seemed no one was interested in helping us get seated hence the dismal rating. This review is based only on the truly awful experience we had just entering the establishment. Last Sunday was an extraordinary February day here in Massachusetts. The temps were in the low 60s and many of us, my husband and I included, went to a local beach for a walk. The Parrot is across the street from the beach. We hadn't been to the Parrot in years and had been underwhelmed at the time. However we were aware that the restaurant is now under new ownership. The Parrot is owned by someone with other restaurants in our area, several of which we have been to and like very much. We were therefore hopeful about our chances here. As we approached the restaurant we could hear music playing but we were unprepared once we stepped inside by the truly and unbelievably loud music being played. The sound level was a complete turn-off and were this restaurant not so spacious and if it had been without the upstairs level they have where we hoped it might be quieter, we would have fled immediately. There are, confusingly, two "hostess stands" on the first floor...one right at the entrance and another further in. No one was standing at either. We stood there for a minute or so when a waitperson happened by. We asked this waitperson about seating and wondered if the upstairs space would be quieter. After saying "what???" back and forth a couple of times because we couldn't hear one another, she said she wasn't sure about whether the upstairs would be quieter. She offered no other insight or assistance and walked away. So we just went upstairs where it was moderately quieter. There were a number of open tables upstairs. A moment later a waitperson on that second level told us we couldn't be up there without having been brought by someone from the hostess stand. There was yet another unmanned hostess stand upstairs so we weren't sure if we needed to stand and wait there in order to be assisted or to return to the first floor. This wait person walked away as well and offered no further assistance or direction to us. Once again, we were on our own to fumble about. A moment later we saw the waitperson who told us we couldn't be seated upstairs, walk downstairs so we followed her back down. We approached her and asked her what the deal was. She then said: "There is a 10-15 minute wait for a table". Huh? Why was there a wait when so many tables were free upstairs? Why didn't she tell us this information when we were upstairs and she was speaking to us? Why didn't the first waitperson who we approached when we initially entered the restaurant help us any further? Why is there no one to assist customers as they walk into the restaurant? At this point, I could no longer take the noise level on top of the complete lack of interest in anyone working there to see that we were properly welcomed and accommodated. We left and went elsewhere. Clearly The Parrot did not care about our business that day. I can appreciate that they may be understaffed (although I am just guessing) but this is no excuse for the two staff people we did interact with to be so blasé and unhelpful. There is no excuse for music to be played at a decibel level that is so loud it renders conversation nearly impossible without shouting.....not to mention potential hearing damage. Is this a restaurant or a music club? The menu has some interesting items on it but we are not up for a return visit any time soon, if ever. Our money is better spent at restaurants where they have perfected the art of making of good food and where welcoming spaces have been created so that conversation can occur without shouting. And it goes without saying, a restaurant needs staff (and an owner) who give a damn. read more

My wife and I embarked on an awesome adventure in 2020... we bought a cottage on Sagamore Hill. The first place we stopped on a raw June day, was the Parrot! We had a couple drinks ...so fun! Once we closed on the place, we returned many times, bringing friends and family to dinner. We liked the brazed ham hocs...a bit heavy, but good, and the smash burger... nice and greasy... great for after a day at the beach! About a year ago, the Ho s left the menu and when we ordered the smash burger, it came out like a regular burger. My brother in law first noticed this. So the next time I came ...already believing that Parrot was relegated to being a burger place, I ordered the smash burger and asked the waitress whether it would be smashed or not. She swore t would be smashed. ....came out square-edged. I tried again, because Parrot, as a restaurant concept is soooo important to have... a place that's open... local.... And ...open... LOL. I pushed and lobbied for the smash burger... and even talked to an assistant manager ... not smashed. Then it hit me that the problem is that they've gone to a frozen burger! Finally... we have two kids in college, so we're trying to save $$ right now... found an ear local gift card and opted to try Parrot again. I got the pan seared haddock. My wife got the steak frites... Where do I start? Fish was OK... small portion and shrimp risotto? Meh. Steak was ordered medium rare. Came out medium - medium well. The fish tacos were much better than the grilled shrimp tacos that we had the last time we were at The Parrot. The salad was very good, and the freshly made sushi and sashimi were excellent.
